My Favorite Hair Products for Wavy Hair
My Favorite Hair Products for Wavy Hair
💫 So one of my goals this year has been to embrace my natural wavy/curly hair and stop frying it into submission with a flat iron. The quarantine has really helped me on this mission but so have these these products! 💫 Amika Supernova Shine Cream Blonde- This stuff is phenomenal. I use this cream after I get out of the shower on wet hair. It weighs my hair down just enough that I don’t look like I’ve just gotten into a car accident, but still leaves a natural bouncy wave. This helps so much with minimizing my frizz and increasing shine and the purple tint keeps my blonde from looking brassy. 💫 Verb Ghost Oil- Hands down the best hair oil I’ve ever used. This makes my hair INCREDIBLY soft without weighing it down and helps a ton with defrizzing and adding shine. I’ll sometimes use this instead of the shine cream. 💫 Bumble and Bumble Hairdressers Invisible Oil Heat & UV Protective Primer- This was the first oil I ever fell in love with. It’s so light and easy to use...it almost feels more like a spray leave in conditioner than an oil. I prefer this one when my keratin is fresh and my hair is a little more on the oily/flat side because it’s so incredibly light. I love that in addition to smoothing frizz and adding shine it also protects against heat and UV. 💫 Verb Sea Texture Spray- This is only $16 and it’s my favorite texture spray of all time. I’ll use this on wet hair after an oil or shine cream and it really helps define my waves and lock them into place without being crunchy. I’ll also use this on like day 3 hair to refresh and touch up my waves.

Sephora Best & “Meh”: Hair Products
Sephora Best & “Meh”: Hair Products
About my hair: very thick, wavy/curly, & prone to dryness & frizziness Fave: IGK - Good Behavior 4-in-1 Prep Spray This is a recent addition to my collection and came in an Influenster box. It claims to detangle, fight frizz, prevent heat damage, & add shine. spray on damp hair post-wash, comb through, and wrap my hair for about 30 min in a cotton t-shirt. This stuff gives me the sleekest + shiniest blowout with NO additional products. I’ve never had one product do that. Most other blow dry sprays require me to also use a smoothing cream. I have used this as a leave-in for air drying or diffusing & it leaves my hair soft. Has a sweet “salon”-type scent, all hair types can use. This will be a repurchase. $27 Meh: Briogeo - Scalp Revival Charcoal + Biotin Dry Shampoo This contains tapioca, charcoal, rice powder, witch hazel, & biotin. It’s a powder that is dispensed by turning the nozzle & gently squeezing the bottle. Cool concept because it’s more easily recyclable. While this does soak up excess oils & makes my hair look cleaner on day 3/4/5, I don’t like how heavy it feels and my hair feels...gross. Light rose/perfume scent, all hair types can use. Gifted by brand - wouldn’t repurchase. $24 Fave: Bumble and bumble. - Bb. Curl Reactivator This spray is designed to restore moisture definition for curly/wavy hair the next day & beyond. It contains avocado, jojoba, & coconut oils, and shea & cocoa butters. I’ve played around with this a few times (including dry hair), and found it works best for me when I dampen my hair about 15-20% with water, then spray liberally and scrunch lightly. It does add some moisture and revives my wave/curl pattern. It does leave me a bit frizzy, though. Has a “salon”-type scent. Will repurchase on sale. $28 Meh: OLAPLEX - No. 3 Hair Perfector This is a bond-restoring treatment to strengthen & improve hair appearance. I’ve only tried this once, but based on others’ reviews I expected to be blown away at 1st use. I applied the cream to damp, towel-dried, unwashed hair & waited about 12 min. My hair didn’t feel or look any different post-wash. Maybe my bar was set too high? Also, I would fly through this product because a full size is only 3.3oz. So far I’m not wowed but will try this again. Mine was a Sephora freebie & I will have to cut the tube open to get 2 uses. Light perfume scent, all hair types can use. $28 All brands are cruelty-free & products are safe for color-treated hair. Briogeo & Olaplex are part of the “clean at Sephora” program since they are sulfate and paraben-free. The Sephora VIB/holiday sale is coming up soon (I think 10/30?), so this would be a great time to try something new or restock on faves. #CheriePartner

I have color treated, wavy hair! It’s normally pretty healthy because I get it trimmed every 6 weeks or so, but still does have some damage due to getting it colored and rarely, if ever, will heat style it. My main hair concerns are damage and frizz! . TRESemmé - Thermal Creations Heat Tamer Leave In Spray is only $5.49 for 8.0 oz. It’s available at most grocery or drug stores, like Walmart/Target, or Walgreens/CVS, or even Ulta. I’ve also seen it go on sale at Walgreens/CVS and Ulta and they even have coupons sometimes. There is a very unique scent about this product, it’s almost floral but hard to describe. It is very strong, so if you’re sensitive to scents can I’d stay away. I use this before I use any heat styling product, it guards against heat and friction, leaving hair shiny and soft. It’s the best heat protectant I’ve ever tried! It makes my hair so soft and shiny afterwards, plus the scent is so nice! It helps decrease the damage from heating tools, which I definitely am looking for if I want to use a heat tool. This would be great for any hair type that uses heating tools. You can’t beat the affordable price! The mister is nice, but can be a little hard to spray when you get towards the end. It doesn’t make my hair greasy or look weighed down! . sun bum - 3 In 1 Leave In Hair Conditioning Treatments is $14.99 for 4.0 oz at Ulta, but often goes on sale like right now it is buy one get one 40% off! This is only a small mini size, but I’ve used up a deluxe size sample as well. It is a lightweight spray that provides the perfect amount of nourishment for my hair! You can go overboard if you spray too much and make your hair look greasy, but just use a couple spritzes and you’ll be good to go! It has an amazing coconut scent that lingers for a couple hours, so if you don’t like coconut, I’d stay away. I love the packaging, the spray style makes it so quick and convenient because I hate the feeling of having to work a cream product through my hair. It reminds me of the It’s a 10 leave in product because it leaves my hair so soft and shiny, but with a different scent and cheaper price tag. Fragrance is high on the ingredient list, but I’m not as picky about my hair products as I am about my skincare products with perfume. The ingredients also list coconut oil and various banana ingredients, the scent definitely takes you to the beach! It claims to detangle, condition, and protect hair and give it more volume. I can’t speak to the volume part because my hair seems to already have too much lol. It also says it helps control frizz, prevent split ends, slow color fading, and leaves hair smooth and shiny. I’ve noticed my hair color stays longer and looks vibrant and haven’t had as much frizz. I really enjoy this product and think it’s a great alternative to the It’s a 10, which I love but don’t always have the budget for. . #CheriePartner

Caring for my wavy hair 💗
Caring for my wavy hair 💗
Not too long ago, I really didn’t know that I had wavy hair. Like many people I had spent years brushing it and straightening it and not giving it a second thought. Finally, my laziness got the best of me and I decided to stop heat-styling my hair. I think the first step of caring for wavy hair is finding the right stylist. Around the time I decided to stop heat styling my hair I went to a new hair stylist who absolutely transformed my hair. He cut in long layers and took out a lot of the bulk in my hair, and I really think these two things were key to getting my waves to hold up. Having more layers definitely helps enhance the waves and keeps them from falling out. So here is my current styling routine! Wash and condition hair: honestly I am not super picky at all about what shampoo or conditioner I use, but I try to get ones that have less sulfates and silicones in them. If anyone has any great recs for shampoo/conditioner for wavy hair, feel free to drop them below!! Post-shower: I know the Curly Girl Method has you apply your products when your hair is still soaking wet, but I can’t stand standing there, freezing cold with my hair dripping everywhere. So I wrap my hair loosely in a t-shirt as soon as I get out of the shower while I dry off and apply my skincare. Then once I am dressed, I take my hair down and apply my products. Leave-in conditioner: I have talked about this before, but this is the most amazing leave-in conditioner I’ve ever used. sexyhair - Healthy Tri-Wheat Leave In Conditioner Smells amazing and leaves my waves so amazingly soft. I apply this all over my midshaft-ends and lightly rub it in. Wave spray: Again, I’ve talked about this product before but it is seriously my holy grail hair product. OUAI - OUAI Wave Spray I spray this all over my head, seriously you cannot use too much of this stuff. (Side note: I don’t recommend spraying this on dry hair because it can get sticky, but if your hair is wet you are 100% good to go.) Once I have applied this, I flip my head upside down and SCRUNCH. Depending on what I’m doing, sometimes I will plop my hair with the towel again just to keep the wet hair off my shoulders, otherwise I just let it air dry. And voila! I love being at a place where I really just love how my hair looks daily, and I never have to spend more than 10 minutes styling it!

MY DESERT ISLAND AIR DRY HAIR PRODUCTS
MY DESERT ISLAND AIR DRY HAIR PRODUCTS
The new EVA NYC Lazy Jane Air Dry products were introduced to me by @adrianarosalynand I am SO THANKFUL. These products do exactly what they say they will. They add volume, texture and amazing beach waves to my naturally straight / slightly wavy hair. I got these products on a BOGO 50% off deal at Ulta, making the total $18 for the shampoo and conditioner. I had to include the eva·nyc - Deeptox Exfoliating Salt Shampoo because it is amazing for days that my hair feels extra dirty or oily from skipping washes + product build up. The reason this is my favorite scalp scrub of any that I have tried is because it does not have a mint scent to it like most scalp scrubs do. I find that the mint scent hurts my eyes and can be irritating to my scalp. You can also use this product as a body scrub! All 3 products are a 10/10.. and you can find them at Ulta or Target 🙌🏼
