Ok, so a few months ago I bought this toner because not only was it blowing up on here, but it had some really great reviews! I was so excited to try it out that when I received my package I immediately went to wash my face. First Impressions: Hardly any fragrance (good!), went on like water, didn't sting. However, I did notice that my cotton rounds EAT this toner up (time to start using gauze again?) and that I didn't really get a WOW factor from this toner. I guess that's ok? I also have found it gentle enough to use AM and PM, though I prefer to use it mainly in the AM. FARMACY - Deep Sweep 2% BHA Pore Cleaning Toner is an alcohol free toner that claims to gently exfoliate, clean pores, and control oil without over stripping. It features Salicylic Acid, Morninga Seed Extract, Morninga Water, and Papaya Enzymes. It is also vegan, cruelty-free, gluten-free, and comes in recyclable packaging around the very simple, yet attractive glass bottle. How It Has Worked for My Skin: I struggle with stress induced acne, so I needes something that would keep the breakouts at bay, help my skin glow, and keep it balanced. Breakouts: This toner hasn't necessarily been my lifesaver when it comes to breakouts. I don't see an improvement in my breakouts, although I don't see them increasing. They just sort of continue to come and go in the same areas. I have started to use the VERSED - Game Over Acne Drying Treatmentin the PM to battle the blemishes. Glow: Meh. I don't feel that I get that fresh feeling or glow factor from this toner. Balance: Ding Ding! The one thing this toner has proved to me so far! I definitely have noticed an improvement in the oil level of my skin. Not too oily, and not over dry. I feel that it does a great job at this for atleast 11 hours out of the day. While I haven't absolutely fallen in love with this product, I wanted to give it a second shot! Have you tried this toner? What are your thoughts? What toners have you found work best for acne prone skin? xo, Miss Riss 🌙🖤

What is the point of toner? From an esthetician
Toner is not pointless! It balances the pH of the skin, helping to make you not so oily or not so dry. It brings moisture to the surface of the skin. It can be calming and soothing to the skin. A lot of times treatment toners are too much and not bad correctly so they end up drying you out and they can counter interact with your treatment products and be way too much for the skin. This is way I recommend a basic hydrating toner for all, keep the treatment separate. Yes there are good treatment toners but you really have to look at the ingredients and make sure you aren’t going to over do it with the rest of your routine. O and here’s your daily reminder that witch hazel isn’t a toner and it’s terrible and super drying and stripping to the skin! No one should use it on their face. Products mentioned: HERITAGE STORE - Rosewater Spray Heritage store rose water mist An amazing, easy to use mist that is hydrating, soothing and balanced the pH of the skin. Subtle rose sent but nothing overpowering because it’s natural rose water. Mad Hippie - Hydrating Nutrient Mist Mad hippie hydrating nutrient mist If you don’t like rose or want a different option try this one! With 18 actives (not acids) this is great for hydrating and has photo aging benefits as well as balancing the pH of the skin.

Is toner necessary?
𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐈𝐬 𝐀 𝐓𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐫? Check out my slides for more info and why is it important to use a toner. You may ask, 𝐈𝐬 𝐭𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐫 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐫𝐲? It really depends on what your skin needs. Here are some examples on what your skin type is and focus on: 𝐀𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠: If your skincare routine lacks antioxidants, then opt for an antioxidants-rich toner. If all your products (serum, moisturiser, sunscreen etc) already have their fair share of antioxidants, you don’t need an extra toner too. 𝐃𝐫𝐲 𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐧: If your skin feels tight and dry during the day, that means your skin needs extra moisture. Therefore, choose a hydrating toner. O𝐢𝐥𝐲 𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐧: You need salicylic acid & NOT alcohol. However, If you’re already using a salicylic acid exfoliant, serum OR moisturiser, you don’t need it in a toner, too. Always use only ONE salicylic acid product in your skincare routine. If it’s a toner, use a toner. If it’s a serum, use a serum and skip the toner. Ultimately you listen to your skin which is what I do. I love using a toner to refresh my skin and prep for my routine. Currently using an AHA toner & Hydrating toner.
LUSH - Breath of Fresh Air Bought this Lush toner because it only has possible fungal acne triggers - there isn’t enough data on them yet But it seems to work for my skin and is very refreshing 🍃 I’m not even sure how important having a toner is anymore (for my skin type) but this one does feel nice 😋

Magic in a bottle!
YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Kombucha + 11% AHA Exfoliation Power Toner Like I said in my post about Sunday Riley’s Good Genes, I love exfoliation. I find it keeps my skin glowy and clear of texture, which is something I struggled with. This toner I heard really mixed things on and was a bit scared to purchase it. Some of my coworkers said that it left there skin feeling sticky but others said that it worked wonders! I bought it and I can see it from both sides. After I use this my skin feels a bit tacky, but it’s nothing that feels awful. I also don’t mind the sticky feeling on my skin. I like the balance of acids in this and how it works with my skin.

It can be hard to find a toner that fits your skincare needs, so let me help you! I have recommendations for all skin types, but I personally believe that even if you have very oily skin your toner shouldn’t be stripping so all of these have hydrating properties. I have tried all of these toners and these are my favorites! GLOW RECIPE - Watermelon Glow PHA+BHA Pore-Tight Toner 🌼Oily and Combination Skin🌼 Because this toner has exfoliating acids in it, it is very beneficial for those with oily or combination skin. It can help those who struggle with acne and blackheads as well (no matter your skin type). It gently exfoliates the skin while still providing hydration. I love the thick texture and the scent the watermelon extract gives it. FIRST AID BEAUTY - Ultra Repair Wild Oat Hydrating Toner 🌸Dry, Combination, Normal, and Sensitive Skin🌸 This toner is AMAZING if you are looking for hydration. It has so many amazing ingredients including colloidal oatmeal which is actually considered an skin protectant by the FDA due to its effective soothing properties. Because of this it can be listed as an active ingredient. This toner has a watery but slightly thick consistency I really like. peach slices - Snail Rescue Blemish Busting Toner 🌼All Skin Types (Especially Dry)🌼 Out of all of these toners this is the one I think would work for pretty much everyone and is my personal favorite! It has acne fighting properties, it is SUPER hydrating (due to snail mucin being the first ingredient and addition of hyaluronic acid), there is no fragrance, and it sinks quickly into the skin. cocokind - Rosewater Facial Toner 🌸All Skin Types (Especially Combination)🌸 Rosewater toners are great for the skin. It is soothing, calms redness, and helps balance PH. This one in particular is my favorite. It uses one ingredient (rosewater) unlike other popular rosewater toners. If you have any tried any of these products or have any recommendations please let me know in the comments!
