Knowing The Difference Saved My Skin
Hi everyone I’m B...short for Bath-she-ba. I wanted to share a skincare tip with you guys that changed my skin for the better. For the longest I have struggled with the oiliest of oily skin and could not figure out why. Until recently when I was doing research to incorporate a few new products into my routine. To simply put it: Knowing the Difference Between Hydration and Moisturizarion. I know the difference may seem obvious but these two words are often used interchangeably by the skin care community and/or brands but they do not mean the same thing. I believed for a while that because I had oily skin I should be stripping it, I shouldn’t be moisturizing it (because of the high oil production) or if I were to drink enough water that will in turn hydrate my skin and these are all MISCONCEPTIONS that are just not TRUE. So Hydration vs. Moisturization HYDRATION (Hydration = Penetration) Hydration refers to the water content within the skin. So when your using hydrating products it penetrates deeper in the skin increasing the water content. MOISTURIZATION When you are moisturizing you are locking in the hydration to protect/enhance the skins natural barrier. So when you use a moisturizer you are creating a protective barrier that will help to avoid water loss within the skin. Through all my research I had discoverd I had OILY DEHYDRATED SKIN and honestly I was blown away at the fact that oily skin could be both. I came across this video: How To Find Your Skin Type by Hyram a Skincare Specialist: https://youtu.be/vic-EMOivpA In this video he points out that and I quote “Everyone has dehydrated skin in some way or another. From what I have learned your skin type is a manifestation of the hydration level of your face. Our skin is lacking the hydration that it needs so it shows that in different ways: whether that be by producing a ton of oil on the surface of the skin or by not producing any oil at all.” So in short ***ALL SKIN NEED HYDRATION AND MOSTURIZATION*** At this point of my research everything started to make a lot more sense — if you want to reduce the oiliness or dryness in your skin you need to HYDRATE IT!! As I said before drinking water is NOT enough to hydrate the skin you also have to manually put hydration into the skin. The most effective way that I’ve found is through a HYDRATING TONER. A hydrating toner is any water based toner plus a humectant. Water + Humectant = Hydrating Toner A HUMECTANT is an ingredient found in products that helps to hydrate the skin by attracting water molecules from your surroundings/environment. They are great for rehydration and increasing the skins water content. EX:Glycerin (common) and Hyaluronic Acid (common) A toner is highly effective because they are thin and absorb at a fast rate, which means you can layer this product comfortably, without fear of it being to heavy. I layered my toner using the 7 skin Method. Find out more in my next post running out of characters (lol yikes).
A healthy skin barrier can solve your problems🌱
A healthy skin barrier can solve your skin problems! 🌱 𝗪𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐚 𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐧 𝐛𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐫? It is the outermost layer of the epidermis - stratum corneum - which functions as both a chemical and physical shield against pollutants, bacteria, irritants, etc.. A healthy skin barrier can slow down aging and even help acne heal quicker while lessening its severity. When the barrier is intact, your skin appears plump, and smooth, but when it’s compromised, skin becomes dehydrated, dull, and more prone to sun damage and irritation. Sensitivity to products, tendency to break out, acne and chronic dry skin are all signs of a weakened skin barrier. Your barrier’s health has a direct impact on how your skin looks, feels, and how it ages! 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐟𝐞𝐰 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐡𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐩 𝐝𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠: 1. Over-cleansing 2. Over-exfoliating 3. Washing your face using hot water 4. Using alcohol-based toner and fragrance-containing products 5. Unprotected exposure to sun’s UV rays 𝐀𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞’𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐝𝐨: ~ Hydrate continuously! A damaged epidermis requires moisture, so keeping your face and body well hydrated is critical in the fight to restore your barrier. Moisture-binding humectants such as glycerin, sorbitol, and hyaluronic acid are my favorites. ~ 𝐔𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐜𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬! An occlusive ingredient provides a protective seal over the surface of the skin and is critical to prevent loss of hydration. When choosing a face moisturizer, I always look for Dimethicone. If you have dry skin, choose a moisturizer with shea butter. For extra dry skin in the body, petrolatum will be your best friend. If you want something lighter than petrolatum, go for silicone based lotions. 𝐌𝐲 𝐟𝐚𝐯𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐛𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐫 𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬: dimethicone, glycerin, ceramides, niacinamide, hyaluronic acid, panthenol, oat and aloe extract. 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬: p.s all fragrance-free 𝐎𝐢𝐥𝐲 𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐧: 𝐂𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐫𝐬 - ceramides, niacinamide, dimethicone, HA. affordable and effective. 𝐍𝐞𝐮𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐚 𝐇𝐲𝐝𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐆𝐞𝐥 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐦 - dimethicone based. Basic, lightweight, but does a great job. 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐚𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐠𝐞𝐥 - my top recommendation for oily and sensitive skin. Wonderful for people with rosacea. Calms, hydrates, and protects skin with dimethicone, aloe extract and licorice root. 𝐃𝐫𝐲 𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐧: 𝐄𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞 𝐇𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐒𝐨𝐨𝐧 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐠 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐦 - has panthenol and shea butter. Pretty no-nonsense. Although it has shea butter, I find this actually lightweight enough for oily skin. 𝐋𝐚 𝐑𝐨𝐜𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐨𝐬𝐚𝐲 𝐂𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐁𝐚𝐮𝐦𝐞 - multi-purpose soothing balm for dry skin irritations. Has glycerin, shea butter, panthenol. 𝐃𝐫𝐮𝐧𝐤 𝐄𝐥𝐞𝐩𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐢 - Glycerin based and combines signal peptides and amino acids. Has a long ingredients list, but overall still worked well with me. 𝐂𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐱 𝐔𝐥𝐭𝐫𝐚 𝐌𝐨𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐳𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐦 - contains Riceramide®-3 blend of plant-based ceramides, natural essential fatty acids and cholesterol, combined with soothing emollients and hyaluronic acid to help relieve chronically dry skin. ❣️𝐏𝐲𝐮𝐧𝐠𝐤𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐘𝐮𝐥 is a fragrance-free brand and uses a variety of root extracts and gentle ingredients to promote barrier restoration. I highly recommend the brand too! 𝐅𝐨𝐫 𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐞𝐱𝐭𝐫𝐚 𝐝𝐫𝐲 𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐧: Vaseline, Aquaphor or 𝐂𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 (lanolin-free) 𝐁𝐨𝐝𝐲 𝐋𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: 𝐀𝐯𝐞𝐞𝐧𝐨 𝐃𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐲 𝐌𝐨𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐳𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐁𝐨𝐝𝐲 𝐋𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧- formulated with soothing oatmeal and rich emollients. Dry/breakouts —> hydrated/clear skin!
I have constantly battled with my skin - being prone to eczema and very dry/flakey skin, it has taken years for me to find products that hydrate my skin without causing breakouts due to excess oils from products. I have spent so much $$ testing different products to see what works and what doesn’t. I also have very sensitive skin which means that I can’t use any harsh chemicals or highly scented products without ending up like a tomato 😳. I’ve finally found my groove which I hope helps anyone with similar dry/sensitive skin that is also prone to breakouts. My evening routine is: - wash face with water - Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water - Go-to Swipeys (twice a week)* - Niacinamide (three times a week) - Revolution Snow Mushroom - Moroccan Argan oil (I rub this well into my skin) - La Roche-posay moisturiser My morning routine: - wash face with water - Hyaluronic Acid - Moroccan Argan Oil - SPF 15 oil free moisturiser * I changed recently to the go-to chemical exfoliant because I found the grainy exfoliants too harsh on my skin and dried me out even more. So far it’s been good. At first it made me a bit red because my skin is so sensitive but I’ve used it a handle of times now and it’s fine!

“Skinsaving” Facial Oils!
My routine is all about protecting my barrier/maintaining hydration. Ever since I added these plant-based emollient oils to my routine, my skin has been incredibly moisturized, hydrated and glowy!! Bye bye dry patches!! 🌿Squalane🌿 Squalene is a lipid naturally produced by our oil glands to naturally hydrate our skin, protect its barrier, and fight against free radicals. As we age, our bodies unfortunately tend to produce less squalene. With all it’s amazing benefits, it’s no wonder why we would want to buy Squalene. However, Squalene in its natural state is not stable and is very quick to oxidization. Therefore, in order to stabilize squalene, it goes through a process called hydrogenation and it’s through this process that squalEne becomes squalane. Squalene is often found in shark liver, but luckily for ethical reasons, companies have been using plant sources for squalane such as olives and sugarcane. Protect the sharks at all cost! I’ve been using THE inkey LIST - Squalane Oil and it is completely transformed my skin! Its not greasy and it immediately softens my skin. I use it during the day and night before my moisturizer. I find that even using it once a day makes a massive difference in my moisture level than compared to not using it. My ONLY complaint is that the Inkey List’s bottle is super small and has no dropper so it’s easy to accidentally get too much product. It’s also 11 dollars for such a small bottle! So while I love it, I’m definitely switching to another brand for a better value. 🥀Rose hip Oil 🥀 Rose hip oil is is pressed oil from the seed and hip parts of rose plants. Rose hip oil contains many fatty acids which help hydrate the skin. It’s rich in Vitamin A, which helps boost collagen production, protect the skin from sun damage, minimize the appearance of fine lines, and reduce hyperpigmentation. There are a few studies that show rose hip oil can inhibit collagen-breaking enzymes. In short: Rose hip oil has many benefit! I’ve been using The Ordinary - 100% Organic Cold Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil . I mainly use it at night after my moisturizer, but sometimes I use it during the day on my makeup-free days as it gives me a hydrated glowy look! It adds an extra boost of hydration for me and it is FAR from greasy. It absorbs PERFECTLY. Some people complain of the smell, but I oddly like the smell for some reason 😅. Since adding these two oils, I have not experienced a single dry patch in weeks. I’ll be using/repurchasing them well into winter-even early spring! #Cheriecreator

Morning Vs Night Skincare Routine
There is a difference with products and routine when it comes to Morning and Night time skin care. ❤️Products and routine varies depending on skin type. This is a simple morning and night skincare routine difference for you to work with❤️ 🌞Morning Skincare Routine🌞 Morning skincare routines are lightweight and simple (3 to 4 steps) The reason your morning skincare routine should be light is because you are active during the day, wearing makeup etc. This can cause you to sweat, produce more oil, expose your skin to the elements like pollution etc. Lightweight products are water based, thinner consistency and absorb easily. Also your morning routine will maintain your skin keeping it clear, balanced and glowing. My Favorite Morning Skincare Products DR. BRONNER'S - Baby Unscented Pure-Castile Liquid Soap DICKINSON'S - Witch Hazel Liquid DERMA•E - Vitamin C Concentrated Serum SheaMoisture - 100% Virgin Coconut Oil Daily Hydration Face Lotion 🌚Night Skincare Routine🌚 Night skincare routines are heavier and have more steps ( 6 to 7) The reason why night time routines are heavier is because you are ending the day ( cleansing , removing makeover) etc and rejuvenating your skin. Night is the best time to utilize skin treatments and mask because you are getting ready to sleep. While sleeping your skin repairs itself and has the time to absorb all the benefits of your products. My Favorite Night Skincare Products Nolaskinsentials - Glycolic Foam Cleanser artnaturals - Rose Water Toner teamí - Hibiscus Infused Vitamin C Serum SheaMoisture - African Black Soap Clarifying Mud Mask SheaMoisture - 100% Virgin Coconut Oil Daily Hydration Face Lotion SheaMoisture - 100% Extra Virgin Coconut Oil Hopefully this is helpful when it comes to what you should do for a morning vs night skincare routine, any questions comment below #cheriecreator

Before and After HALLOWEEN Skincare Tips 🎃💀👻
I love Halloween with the costumes, the treats, and scary movies. What's not to love. Sometimes we can get so wrapped up in the fun we can forget about our activities of daily living. So I just wanted to give you guys some tips on how to get through today!!! Before putting on your Halloween makeup remember to exfoliate, hydrate and prime your skin. Healthy nourished skin is the best base for any makeup routine. You can exfoliate and hydrate with one of my favorite masks dear, klairs - Youthful Glow Sugar Mask if you want a hydrating primer my go to is BOBBI BROWN - Vitamin Enriched Face Base Priming Moisturizer After dancing the night away in layers of makeup or walking the neighborhood with a scary mask on your face you will need to double cleanse. The best way to break down that makeup and dirt is with an oil cleanser. My favorites are BANILA CO - Clean It Zero Cleansing Balm Nourishing and I just tried FARMACY - Green Clean Makeup Meltaway Cleansing Balm omg this stuff really breaks down makeup. Then follow up with a gel cleanser to really get in your pores and get the dirt out. I personally like NATURIUM - Mixed Greens Nutrient-Rich Cleanser they are launching a Niacinamide gel cleanser Nov 1 I'm excited to try it. After cleansing you can rehydrate your skin with a nourishing mask like I'm from - Honey Mask or TONYMOLY - I'm Real Aloe Mask Sheet both masks keep my skin plump and hydrated. Throw in a hydrating essence NATURIUM - Hyaluronic Acid Essence 2% or hydrating toner like I'm from - Rice Toner Skip the actives and finish with a hydrating moisturizer like FARMACY - Honey Halo Ultra-hydrating Ceramide Moisturizer Don't forget to hydrate. Water helps flush out those toxins, the candy and/or the alcohol. 😜 Water will help give your skin that healthy glow!!! If the makeup has left your skin irritated you can try adding some serums like Krave - Great Barrier Relief or epicuren DISCOVERY - Aloe Vera Calming Gel to your routine both calm irritated skin. The Krave serum will help soothe your skin while repairing your skins barrier. The Epicuren gel has green tea and camomile which a great anti inflammatory agents. What are your Halloween plans?? Are you still dressing up are you still participating in Halloween activities?? Hope these tips help!!!
