No more skin dryness for me with hyaluronic acid
No more skin dryness for me with hyaluronic acid I have combination skin, so certain areas of my face are always dry or excessively dry, while others are rather shinny with excess oil. So, I’m always looking for solutions that are ok for the oily areas but can offer proper levels of hydrations to the dry areas too. Over the last few years, hyaluronic acid has been advertised as the Wonder Child of the cosmetics world. A potent active ingredient that can really retain moisture and, as a result keep skin hydrated for longer. I read a lot about it in different magazines and decided to give it a try after my beautician recommended it. The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 Since I’ve always had a great experience with The Ordinary products, now this is my go-to solution when I want to try out something new. I’ve used different products with hyaluronic acid before, but the concentration was probably too low to really notice any changes. This serum from The Ordinary has 2% concentration and combines three types of hyaluronic acid molecules. The first thing you notice about this ultra-pure serum is the liquid, watery texture. This makes it incredibly easy for me to apply it on the face, neck and cleavage. I use the serum twice a day, in the mornings and evenings, after cleansing and before other serums or creams with a thicker consistency. I’ve started noticing the results within weeks, the skin looks definitely plumper, fuller, which is really amazing for such an affordable product. For me, it also seems to regulate my sebum production, as my face is not as oily as it used to be, but maybe this is just my experience. All in all, hyaluronic acid is definitely worth it, so I plan to use it regularly from now on and maybe associate it with other moisture retaining ingredients. The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5

DRY SKIN TRY THESE TIPS!
Do’s and DON’Ts for DRY skin that will change your skincare life! Hello all my fellow dry skin babes. This one is for you! I’ve got to say, dry skin is relatively new to me. I always had more normal to oily skin and then I moved to San Francisco and for whatever reason my skin is pretty dry now. I’ve learned how to take real good care of my skin and maintain moisture to keep my dry skin as happy as it can be. SO here’s some DO this and DON’T YOU DARE do that tips. DO Use a gentle and hydrating cleanser. (Milk makeup vegan milk cleanser) If you’re going to tone, please look for more hydrating toners. (Puristry) LAYER UP! Layer your hydration with different skincare products like serums, face oils, and moisturizers. EXFOLIATE. Get that layer of dead skin off! all the hard work of layering hydration won’t absorb into your skin. Use products with hydrating/moisture retaining ingredients like; Hyaluronic Acid, Ceramides, squalene and Honey. (Honey and Ceramide will change ya skincare game!) DON’T Over exfoliate. This is just going to cause irritation and breakouts, so now on top of dry skin you have broken out and angry skin. Keep exfoliation in your routine for 1-2x a week. Stay away from harsh ingredients. Ingredients like Benzyl proxide, Salicylic Acid, Alcohol etc. can dry you out, so use it in moderation. Don’t over do it. Getting rid of dry skin takes time! Keep a steady routine and you will start to see results. Wear matte makeup! This will add to your dry skin. My best advice is to wear a hydrating primer and then you can go in with a matte foundation. Try to keep away from setting powders. (HG Laura Mercier translucent powder is made for oily skin! Only making you dry skin babes ever more dry) best of all, don’t be lazy. You can’t fix your skin if you aren’t consistent and keep up a routine. **Dry skin can often appear as oily skin, so if you start to get really oily and its pretty far from your normal, then keep that in mind. When our skin is so dry it starts to produce natural oils to replenish the moisture and essentially fix itself. Dry skin can be so severe that our skin starts producing these oils like crazy. I can sit here and really get into it, but I know I’ll bore you and you’ll just skip through it. So follow these go to and simple tips to be on your way to balance and “normal” skin! May the hydration forever be with you 😉 💦

2 Awesome Serums for Dry Skin!!
ESTĒE LAUDER - Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Multi-Recovery Complex This is a very well-known product. The serum is lightweight, spreads well, and is also absorbed easily. After using this product, my skin has become more delicate and my pores are smaller. DRUNK ELEPHANT - B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum I have dry skin, so moisturizing is my top priority. That's why I decided to try the Hydration Serum. It has a translucent gel texture and dissolves quickly by rubbing it slightly on my palm. But unlike other moisturizing serums that leave a watery glow on the skin, it gives a matte finish, kind of like the effect the Smashbox oil control primer offers. I usually use it in the morning, either pairing it with other serums or just using it alone. When used alone, it doesn't feel like it's fully absorbed and it leaves sort of like a protective film on the skin. I've already repurchased it.

My skincare routine for DRY SKIN
So I have dry skin and it is a bit sensitive and I found that these products worked best for me. I apply it in such order 1) Cleanser 2) Toner 3) Serum/Booster 4) Moisturizer 5) Sunscreen (AM only) For the cleanser LA ROCHE-POSAY - Toleriane Dermo-Cleanser I really enjoyed it. It did wonders for my dry skin. It has a creamy milky consistency that doesn’t lather ensuring that your skin isn’t overly stripped. I would also recommend this product if you have sensitive skin because it has 8 ingredients! For sensitive skin it is better to use less ingredients to ensure that your skin doesn’t get irritated. I would compare the consistency to CeraVe Hydrating Facial Cleanser. Next I use a toner. FARMACY - Deep Sweep The only reason I actually use it is because of the BHA. I found it to not be irritating and my skin didn’t have a tingling feeling either. Since I do have dry skin I don’t use it all over my face. I only use it on my chin for whiteheads and on my nose for blackheads. Another plus is that this toner is alcohol free! After that I use a serum/booster. VERSED - HYDRATION STATION Booster With HA This booster is really good and I didn’t find it to be sticky as others might say. It has a lightweight consistency and almost feels like there isn’t anything on your face. After I apply this booster my skin feels really soft and hydrated which is a must for dry skin. Hyaluronic acid offers those benefits. The moisturizer I use is the HONEST - The Daily Calm Lightweight Moisturizer When I found out that Honest Beauty came out with this formula I was impressed because they usually use fragrances (essential oils) in their products. I decided to give it a try because it is fragrance free. However, it had a noticeable scent to it that wasn’t pleasant. Yes it is fragrance free but it just has a noticeable “lotion” type smell that you can smell all day. Besides that one problem I have no complaints. (If you have moisturizer suggestions for dry skin please let me know) Finally I use sunscreen. BIOSSANCE - Squalane + Zinc Sheer Mineral Sunscreen SPF 30 PA +++ This right here is one of the only sunscreens with zinc oxide that doesn’t leave a white cast. Sunscreen is an essential part of your skincare routine no matter what your skin tone is. You should definitely be using one especially if you exfoliate. It feels like there is nothing on your face. I definitely recommend this one!!
1 HG and 1 PASS in the hydration serum world!
I have extremely dehydrated and dry skin, so I am always on the hunt for the next best hydration serum. One of these is a forever repurchase for me and the other just doesn’t cut it, in my opinion. First up, the hard pass.. First Aid Beauty’s ultra repair hydrating serum. From first impression, I loved the thick and jelly texture of this serum! It isn’t your typical watery HA serum. But, along with thick texture comes the horrible sticky residue it leaves. Also, I have not found that this serum plays well with others in my routine. It typically makes my other serums and moisturizer ball up on the skin. That’s a no go for me. It claims to be a water-based serum that gives skin its daily dose of moisture for soft, smooth, youthful-looking skin. It is a nice basic hyaluronic acid serum with good ingredients, if only I could get past the stickiness and pilling. It is recommended for all skin types. Second, the Drunk Elephant Bhydra serum. This one claims to be a cool drink of water for thirsty skin. It replenishes the complexion and improves the look of skin texture and tone. I have been using this product for years now and have gone through multiple tubes. I love this serum SO much. The gel texture of it is actually kind of creamy and thick, it’s almost indescribable! It is one of the few serums that I have actually felt the tight dry feeling going away after application. I like to apply it on damp skin after my active serums (vitamin C and/or acid serums). B Hydra really plumps up my skin and leaves it looking even in skin tone and vibrant. I feel like its hydration can truly last longer than others on the market. I highly recommend it for any skin type looking for a little more hydration! DRUNK ELEPHANT - B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum FIRST AID BEAUTY - Ultra Repair Hydrating Serum

Effective and lighweight serums for dry and dull skin
I have dry skin and my face looks dull occasionally. I have always been actively trying to fix the two issues in tandem. It would be better if it could relieve wrinkles. Luckily I have found three magic serums that can not only nourish my skin but also improve the radiance and correct my tone. 1. CHANEL LE LIFT Firming Smoothing Lotion＆Serum CHANEL - LE LIFT Firming Smoothing Lotion This one seems to like to be a 2-1 product for pre-cream skincare which helps open up pores to let other products penetrate. It is lightweight and has the smell of camellia which gives me delight every time I apply it on my face. I find this one especially effective in improving my look when used with LE LIFT products. I like it most because it can simplify my skincare process and moisturize without giving me a greasy feeling. 2. Olay Light Perfecting Essence OLAY - White Radiance Light Perfecting Essence This serum is famous for its ingredient, niacinamide which is a versatile ingredient for both replenishing look and whitening skin. I’ve tried a lot of products to remove my pimple marks but olay is the first product to show obvious results in less than two weeks, totally worth the price and more of it. After using it for years, I will say it does brighten my skin and give the skin a clear complexion, very natural and silky look. 3.Clinique repairwear laser focus CLINIQUE - Repairwear Laser Focus Wrinkles & UV Damage Corrector This is a good choice for moisturizing and tone correcting but it adds anti-aging ingredients. It has a rejuvenating formula that smooths the skin’s texture. I find it useful to deal with expression lines and helps plump my skin. One plus for this is that it restores sun damage. My skin literally glows after using it for three months. Those three are ＄68, ＄30 and ＄56 respectively. All are fairly priced for their excellent function.

My Mental Wellness Improved Through My Self AcceptanceWhen I was around 13 or 14 years old, I remember routinely taking one of my older sister’s black eyeliner pencils before school every morning. I’d arrive early so that I could slip away to the girl’s bathroom to apply a single black line to my eyelids. My parents didn’t allow me to wear any makeup at the time. Although this smudgy line on my eyelids didn’t make me look all that much different, I never felt comfortable at school without it. My teenage mind convinced myself that I needed some sort of cosmetic symbol in order to appropriately express my femininity. Up until that point in my life, society had told girls that looked like me - tall, Black, and with kinky hair - that we somehow weren’t as beautiful as the other girls. For far too long, I believed it too.Feb. 17
