This mask works wonders for pore minimizing!
Lush’s Mask of Magnaminty is one of my holy grail face masks. This thick, clay mask is great for pore minimizing and tigthening up your skin. Clay masks work great for individuals with oily skin, like myself. I use this masks about 2-3 times a week after cleaning my face. It’s a green mask with little granules in it. I leave the mask on for about 20-25 minutes, before washing off. In addition, I also believe this mask helps me with oil control. This is my third container this year of this mask and I plan to continue repurchasing. I highly recommend this product for people with oily skin and those looking to help with pore size. I rate this product 4 out of 5 stars!
Do’s and don’ts: large pores
Skin type: combination. Skin concerns: large pores. The pores correspond to the opening of the hair follicles on the surface of the skin. The hair follicle resembles a canal, which contains facial hair and is connected to the sebaceous glands (sebum producers). It is common to see large pores on acne and/or oily skin. Pore size is closely related to genetic 🧬, hormonal, and environmental factors. Over the years, the pores increase in diameter due to the loss of firmness of the skin. The products that I have used to improve the appearance of the pores are retinol (at night) and vitamin C (in the morning and at night after retinol) I also try to exfoliate my skin 1-2 times a week and use masks that help clean the pores or hydrate the skin once a week, in addition to using sunscreen (I apply it every 4 hours). Do’s: 👍🏻 Wash your face twice a day with water and soap 🧼 (depending on your skin type). 👍🏻 Exfoliate and use astringent masks 1-2 times a week. 👍🏻 Creams with vitamin A derivatives (retinoids) decrease sebum production, accelerate cell turnover and tighten the skin. 👍🏻 Use “non-comedogenic” products 🧴. 👍🏻 Vitamin C 🍊aids collagen and elastin production and brightens the appearance of skin. Don’ts: 👎🏻 Washing your face too often causes you to produce more oil, enlarged pores and more breakouts may appear. 👎🏻 Don’t expose yourself much to the sun ☀️, sun damage makes your pores appear larger and contributes to the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. 👎🏻 Air pollution and smoke 🚬 accelerate the aging process of the skin 👵🏻. 👎🏻 Exfoliating more than you should weekly can lead to increased sebum production and make your pores appear larger.
How to Treat Orange Peel Skin (Enlarged Pores)
Muffin top, crows feet, lunch lady arms… we have become so creative in coming up with ways to describe our body and the aging process. “Orange peel skin” is just another dramatic description of what our skin may look like as enlarged pores creep up on us. As we age, our skin loses collagen and elasticity, making our pores look more obvious. I was reckless with my skin in my early 20s so as a result, I have visibly enlarged pores on my cheeks and throughout my t-zone. For the past several years I have been experimenting to figure out the best way to “treat” my enlarged pores and have found some goodies to share with you. I have normal to dry skin, but these products would work on any skin type since the active ingredients are mild. First off, there is no such thing as reducing your pore size. Products claiming to “shrink your pores” are simply marketing to our insecurities. It is possible, however, to reduce the appearance of your pores but it’s important to note that distinction. To treat the appearance of my “orange peel” skin, I focus on keeping my pores clean, skin hydrated and treat from within. 1. For keeping my pores clean I love the PACIfICA - Sea Purify Balancing Clay Mask. Clay and charcoal work together to unclog and detox pores within minutes. The kelp and green tea further help to cleanse the skin and at $15, it’s a steal. 2. After clearing out your pores, plump your skin back to its youth with hyaluronic acid. I love the GOOD MOLECULES - Hyaluronic Acid Serum which does as good of a job as any at only $6! 3. Lastly, I use HVMN Keto Collagen+ for quality collagen peptides and to balance out my diet. Trying out the Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay!
I finally tried this mask for the first time as SO many people have raves about it online!! Ive heard everybody saying nothing but good things about it- so I had to give it a go! 🙊 I have acne prone skin and have had acne scars ever since I was 15, with my pores getting bigger as I get older so this mask sounded like a miracle! 😝 My best friend brought it online and got 2 so gave one to me for around $35NZD, so seemed like an awesome deal considering this bad boy was sold out everywhere at one point it was that popular! The size of the tub is huge too so will definitely last me for ages! 😍 It was amazing to smooth onto my face, and I loved the green colour. You just mix with a bit of water or apple cider vinegar and stir (avoiding metal as this can alter the performance or the clay). I left my mask on for 20minutes as I don’t have sensitive skin- if you do have sensitive skin you leave it on for around 10minutes. It changes colour to a slightly lighter green as it dries and starts cracking after a few minutes- I love the look of the cracked clay 🙊 I loved the tightening feeling of this after around 8minutes- I could barely move my face but I loved that sensation! 🙊 It made it feel like it was really sucking out my pores and getting rid of any nasties. After I washed it off with warm water and a flannel I had only a little redness, but holy moly my skin felt SO soft and smooth and my pores appeared smaller already!! Also my skin felt tighter (it was!) after the mask and my fine lines wern’t as noticeable because of that 😍 I can’t wait to try out this mask more to see if it clears any of my active breakouts and blackheads. Definitely recommend so far, but I will keep you posted again on how it goes for me 😊❤️ AZTEC SECRET - Indian Healing Clay

blackhead clearing+pore minimizing
Here is my full honest review of the “Freeman Dead Sea Minerals clay mask” It’s marketed towards instantly clearing pores and balancing for renewed skin, I would say it does exactly what it says and more! It never directly says “clear blackheads + pore minimizing” however when I use this product it does wonders on both I mentioned! Target concerns are replenishing and balancing moisture while purging clogged pores! It’s markets towards all skin types, I have normal to dry skin so what I can say for my skin type is that it doesn’t over dry at all like some clay masks! I’ve noticed big changes in my pores especially around my my nose, that’s normally where I apply it. So I can attest to it working well for blackheads! The texture is wonderful, when you first get it out of the tube it is thick smells of lavender and bergamot! After ten minutes of it sitting on your skin it drys like any clay mask and I put hot to warm water on my skins to get it off! My skin feels as smooth as a baby’s bottom. I’ve been using Freeman’s products for a while and this one in particular I’ve been using for around a half a year, I use it every few weeks if I notice any blackheads appearing! I don’t use this very often because I have found other treatments that help better, my boyfriend will not because he has oily and cystic acne and it makes him break out. I recommend trying it to people who have normal to oily or normal to dry because the price is so worth it. If it doesn’t work for you just gift it to a friend! You could use it in a time crunch that’s for sure(: 5 out of 5 for me🥰

How to (Temporarily) Shrink Your Pores in 1 Hour
What you might think are stubborn blackheads that you can’t remove, no matter how religiously you use salicylic acid, are actually sebaceous filaments, which are basically a combination of sebum (your skin’s natural oils), bacteria, dead skin cells, and even the single hair in your hair follicle that have all come together to create that annoying clogged pore. Unfortunately, the size of your pores is determined by your genetics, and they can’t be truly “shrunk,” no matter what a product claims. Although you can only temporarily reduce the appearance of your pores, it’s a pretty simple and extremely satisfying process known as “gritting.” I first learned about this process from Fifty Shades of Snail, whose process is well known in the online skincare community. The process uses three products — a BHA chemical exfoliant, like salicylic acid; a clay mask; and a cleansing oil — and takes about 1 hour max. It’s recommended that you do this in the morning, about once every few days, so this is a great way to indulge in some skincare self-care on the weekends! Below are my favorite products to use for gritting: COSRX - BHA Blackhead Power Liquid This is one of my favorite chemical exfoliants: it’s affordable, effective, and applies beautifully! I use this for gritting and for chemically exfoliating twice a week. AZTEC SECRET - Indian Healing Clay I only use this mask for gritting. I personally don’t find it helpful to regularly use clay masks, as I’ve found them to be a little too harsh for me, even with my oily/combination skin. I use raw apple cider vinegar to make my mask, which helps to lower the higher pH of the bentonite in the clay to a more skin-friendly level, which should be around 4-5. Simple Skincare Science has a great post about whether you should use water or raw apple cider vinegar to mix with your clay mask. There are other types of clay masks that might be more suitable for your skin type, like kaolin clay for dry or sensitive skin or French green clay that has more healing properties. This specific clay mask is just the most affordable and easily accessible option! Orgain - Organic Mct Oil Unflavored Okay, this is where things might get a little weird, but I use MCT oil as my cleansing oil. MCT oil is most commonly used in keto/low-carb diets as a source of energy. I use MCT oil on my skin because it’s extracted from caprylic acid, which does not cause problems for malassezia, or fungal acne. I have a huge bottle of C8 MCT oil from the brand Kiss My Keto that I decanted into a smaller vessel with a pump. The only downside is that because this oil wasn’t made with the intention of being used as a cleansing oil, it doesn’t emulsify when you clean it off your face. I get around that by using a lukewarm, damp towel to gently remove it. If you end up trying the “gritting” process, let me know what you think in the comments!
