My Eczema Solutions
Restocking on empties of my recent favourites that I’ve been using since February. At first I was only using them on my face, but as I had a developing eczema rash since January, I was ready to try anything. Since the Face Food mist (hydrating, anti-pollution toner) is packed with anti-inflammatory, collagen-enhancing minerals (silver, copper, zinc, magnesium) & the Putty (pUH-tee 😜) pomade contains soothing colloidal oatmeal and restorative ingredients (honey, turmeric, zinc, hemp oil), I realized the results would be quite obvious. After all, these two products from a clinically-proven superfood Canadian skincare line have been beneficial for dry and inflammatory faces. Besides your skincare is encouraged to be applied onto your neck too... ✨ which I never previously considered much. So look at the results after about 3 weeks of use, starting near the end of March (my neck looked like it did in February, but a bit worse throughout most of March, so I just didn’t focus on taking “progress” pics because I was hopeless with the eczema.) Within a few days of mixing the two products in my palm first and then applying on my neck for better absorption, I noticed that, unlike other eczema balms, I only needed to apply the mixture on twice a day, morning and night, that’s how moisturizing it is at a CELLULAR level! I have fallen in love with this stuff, it also smells great (FF: vanilla, P: cream oats,) so I decided to get the big sized bottles after my empties, and the cool thing is I get to reuse my Face Food mist bottle (bonus sustainability point). Although, the airless pump may be hard to recycle conventionally, you can always submit your beauty product empties to Terracycle!♻️ And as for eczema, I just want to say that its pathological root cause is very complex for each individual. I’m still figuring mine out, but I’m pretty sure it’s nutrition & stress related. So I look up to skincare as a maintenance practice, that keeps my skin relatively healthy, while I’m figuring out the other pieces of the puzzle. 💝 Stay tuned for how I clear up the scars + hyperpigmentation, this isn’t the first time I’ve dealt with this! What does it do? Aloe
Each year, it seems like the beauty industry picks a “key ingredient” to put in hundreds of products so they can give us an excuse as to why they are upcharging us. It’s been collagen, snail mucin, tea tree oil, hyaluronic acid, CBD, argan oil, coconut, matcha, manuka honey, niacinamide, vitamin C, etc., to name a few. (Did you know Morroccan Oil is just expensive argan oil?) I think it is a good idea to know why those key ingredients are worth making it into the product name or at the very least on to the label. So aloe ... What does it do for the skin? Aloe is full of vitamins — specifically vitamins A, B , C, D and E as well as minerals like magnesium, potassium and zinc. All of these contribute to the healing properties of aloe vera. It reduces irritation causing by the sun or by things that naturally irritate your skin. Once applied to the irritated area, it can help repair your skin’s damaged barrier. NATURAL ISN’T ALWAYS BETTER: Aloe vera comes in a multitude of forms on the market: decolorized aloe, aloe latex, aloe water and the “sap-like” gel. From “Why Aloe Vera Is Controversial Right Now, According to Experts“ on allure.com: “Non-decolorized, whole-leaf aloe extract contains a chemical called aloin, which has been shown to cause cancer in rats.” BUT it isn’t shown to be dangerous unless it is consumed. (No evidence was shown that is carcinogenic when applied topically.) In the same article, Perry Romanowski, cosmetic chemist and cofounder of The Beauty Brains, said: "Aloe vera is a safe ingredient to use in skin products. But this is a great reminder that just because an ingredient is natural, does not mean that it is automatically safe and effective." Now let’s talk about the two products I decided to highlight: 🚿The OLAY - Mist Ultimate Hydration Essence Cooling Face Spray comes in a pretty soft plastic bottle. It has aloe leaf, chamomile and vitamin B3 to hydrate and calm “dry and tight skin.” You can apply it before moisturizer and after makeup to set and refresh your skin, as needed. When you spray, hold to 5-10 inches from your face. (Contains niacinamide and glycerin.) MY THOUGHTS: This is one of the products that I put under “YouTube made me buy it.” I first saw this mist on Jackie Aina’s channel and I swiped two different types up. I would not repurchase this product. It is unnecessarily fragranced with a floral-like scent that some people may love. I live in the camp of “fragrance is for perfume not for skin care.” Also, the cap DOES NOT want to stay on the bottle. It comes off so easily. Recommend? No. 🧴GOLD BOND - Ultimate Healing Skin Therapy Lotion with Aloe has seven moisturizers and three vitamins to “reveal nourished skin” a deliver 24-hour hydration. MY THOUGHTS: I LOVE THIS LOTION. I’ve used it for more than a year. It hydrates so well. It is my go-to moisturizer to toss in my luggage. It is thick, but absorbs well into the skin. Recommend? YES!

Omorovicza - Omorovicza Deep Cleansing Mask This mask detoxifies the skin and leaves it radiant and smooth. It is gentle, doesn’t dry out my skin, love the cooling sensation on face. The main ingredients are: * Hungarian moor mud which is rich in minerals and nutrients. Calcium and magnesium deeply cleanse and nourish the skin. * White clay helps with decongestion * Hungarian thermal water which keeps skin soft, hydrated This is a nice mask for those who wants to clear their acne and blemishes. You might get one or two tiny spots the other day as this mask draws out all impurities to the surface. It, however, didn’t break me out. Overall, I liked the mask. Its pricey though, $120 for 1.7 oz. After the mask, I follow up with the Omorovicza - Queen of Hungary Mist mist to refresh and hydrate my skin.

Mellow Naturals is a brand that have been recently chugging away in my skincare routine for the past months. Here’s the thing to note though – All products of Mellow Naturals are made with carefully handpicked ingredients from Thailand and Asia's finest sources. They’re all cruelty-free and naturally-derived with all the usual synthetics and potentially harmful ingredients removed. For all those reasons this post is for you who need a range that works gently on sensitive complexions or a recommendation for natural skincare. So here we go... Hydration Drops Face Oil - Having oily skin, I've always been very picky when it comes to use a facial skin oil. This oil, however, have wowed me with its lightweight formula. It even doesn't really feel like an oil, more like a halfway between an oil and a serum texture. With a perfect blend of Argan, Rosehip and Strawberry Seed Oil, this oil is designed to hydrate skin and nourish without leaving no oily residue - and it does precisely that. I noticed it gives my skin a radiant and glowy complexion. What more could you ask for? Vit C Natural Glow Face Serum - As someone that always struggles with acne, I’m always looking for Vitamin C serums to keep the PIH stay away as fast as possible. And if you need some kind of vitamin C that is stable in structure, easy to store and gentle on the skin... Mellow Naturals comes up with this baby. The main ingredient is Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate which is a water-soluble derivative of Vitamin C. The texture is light gel, easy to blend and well-absorbed into the skin without any spillage. Since it's less potent than direct L-Ascorbic Acid, I didn't expect much, however I feel like it prevents my skin from dullness even though I have not been able to notice improvement to my scars. Pomegranate Lip Care - I use this every day and night! It has Pomegranate Seed Oil and Organic Coconut Oil that truly works to make my lips hydrated and super soft but not that that heavily. It feels a slightly waxy at first but works fine underneath lipstick. It's also very convenient to use unlike tub packaging for other lip balms.
These 3 facial oils from Oleja Beauty: 💛 Brightening: this one is made with prickly pear seed oil, cranberry seed oil, papaya seed oil and pomegranate seed oil. This blend contains vitamins A, B, C, E and K, and its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant-rich properties are meant to fade dark spots, promote collagen production as well as cell renewal. ❤️ Nourishing: this is made with baobab oil, chia seed oil and avocado oil. The blend has vitamins A, B3, C, D and E, with a 3:1 ratio of Omega 3 to Omega 6 essential fatty acids. This blend is designed to nourish the skin with calcium, potassium, iron and magnesium, as well as provide it with added protein in order to aid skin regeneration. 💚 Balancing: this one is made with Moringa oil, sacha inchi oil, and Roman chamomile oil. Its high concentration of plant-based Omega 3 is supposed to serve as a source of anti microbial and antioxidant-rich blend that will work to regulate sebum production and fight against inflammation. All of these oils are cold pressed in order to retain maximum benefits and they are kept in dark, UV-resistant bottles with pumps so that they do not oxidize and lose their benefits. I've really been enjoying these! I like to use the nourishing oil at night, and in the morning I wake up with extremely hydrated, glowing skin. As for the brightening and nourishing oils, I like to actually mix one pump of each together and just like that, I have all the nourishment I need for the day, and I have the loveliest glow. I'll happily tell you that I've noticed way calmer skin since using these! Definitely need to use for longer for a full review, though.
