Korean Aloe Gel Sleep Mask rated 4/5⭐️ on Ipsy
🙋🏽♀️I was SO excited to try this sleeping mask- after all, Korean skincare has been trending for years and seems to be a fan favorite on Ipsy. ☀️ After a lovely morning walk I noticed I had I unintentionally sunburned my face, back and chest 🤦🏽♀️ However, this presented an opportunity to use my new calming aloe vera gel and Hylauronic Acid mask I received in my July Ipsy bag! Wooo 🥳 It has raving reviews and someone with sunburn even claimed to have been saved by this miracle mask. But as you can see, the Aloe Gel Sleeping Mask by Jeju:en did absolutely nothing to calm my skin. In fact, my regular shmegular aloe vera from trusty Trader Joe’s helped calm the redness on my chest (as seen in the photo). Moral of the story? Don’t believe the hype. Here were some of the red flags: 🚩 the first ingredients in the sleeping mask do not even contain aloe vera. 🚩 The ingredient list reads: water, followed by butylene glycol, glycerin... 🚩 alcohol (😳) 🚩 AND fragrance 🙅🏽♀️ I would not recommend this as a post-sun exposure remedy. There are very little active calming and soothing ingredients for anyone with even sensitive skin.
NECESSITIES: Skincare the Korean Way
I was asked on Twitter to do product reviews regarding my Korean skincare, so I was thinking, “Hey, why not put it on Cherie as well?”. Not all of my followers use Cherie and not a lot of people know me on Cherie, but hopefully if you come across this somehow, you can take something away from this post. Because I have so many products I’m going to do this in waves: - Necessities - Acne Gods - Exfoliators - Cleansers - Lip Care - Highschool Carry Ons - The God of All Serums - Face Masks This round is Necessities! I will be going over the products I use on a daily basis without fail. Even if I wake up a few minutes late, I can get this simple routine done in about 5-7 minutes. Super easy right? I am going to do this in order that I use them. First is Soo'AE - HEMP DREAMS CLEANSING OIL . This is my first step after makeup removal. I don’t normally use a lot of makeup or any makeup for that matter, so I can usually go straight to an oil cleanser. A good oil cleanser should be deep cleansing and hydrating, they should be essentially melting all the makeup and nasty that makeup remover doesn’t get. SooAe, an Korean-American skincare brand has released this cleansing oil which uses Hemp seed oil in order to do a deep cleaning and hydrate at the same time. All I do is take a pump of this, massage it into my face, then massage in some warm water. The cleansing oil should turn a milky white once the water is introduced. Following an oil cleanser, I ALWAYS have to go in with another non-oil based cleanser. I like foam cleansers because they tend to be water based and they are really light and airy. NATURE REPUBLIC - Soothing & Moisture Aloe Vera Foam Cleanser is perfect for what I need. As I have normal skin type (thank you 엄마 mom and 아빠 dad!!), I am all about hydrating and protecting. The aloe very has a soothing effect and most definitely leaves my skin nice and restored by the end. This cleanser also doesn’t leave any makeup or nasty in your pores. On a good day, I would do a triple cleanse and follow up with a pore cleansing foam or my weekly exfoliating cleanser, but this is bare necessities. That being said, following my double cleansing method, I follow up with LANEIGE - Essential Power Skin Toner for Normal to Dry Skin . Anyone who knows me knows I swear my entire life by Laneige. The reason is because of their HUGE selection of water based skincare. The Essential Power Skin Toner is super refreshing and acts as a third cleanser while also replenishing moisture. Keyword here is MOISTURE!!! Most toners tend to dry out the skin, but Laneige doesn’t disappoint and hydrates like no other. Of course, following any good toner should be an essence. I use LANEIGE - Water Bank Hydro Essence . It not only boosts hydration, but it locks in any moisture in your skin and prepares your skin to absorb any serums, essential oils, or face mask/packs that you use after. Even if you don’t use oils, serums, masks, etc. using essence before eye cream and even simple moisturizer will prepare your skin for an ultra hydration party. Normally, I would use serums and a face mask/pack, but since the clock is ticking before I have to leave the house, I’m going to skip straight to eye cream. Eye cream is NOT ONLY FOR AGING ADULTS! Eye cream/gels are used to treat and maintain the skin around our eyes. The skin around our eyes are the weakest, thinnest, and most sensitive skin on our bodies, so we need to take really really good care of it. Another product of LANEIGE - Water Bank Eye Gel . I was born with the typical Asian eyes which are on the smaller side, so when I am tired and my eyes are a bit swollen, my eyes look 10x smaller. Not the prettiest thing to look at. This eye gel is not only light and hydrating, but it also has a cooling effect which wakes me up a bit. Following this, I use the LANEIGE - Water Bank Hydrating Gel . Since I moved from Korea, I can’t seem to find this in the States, so I have my grandparents bring this over for me when they come for their visits. With this, a little goes a long way, so despite the small size, it hydrates and leaves your skin looking plump and glowy all day long. While I brush my teeth and last minute pack my school bag, I let the two Water Bank gels fully absorb and then follow up with AHC - Natural Perfecting Double Shield Sun Stick SPF50+ PA++++ with a SPF of 50+. You should use a sunscreen of at least SPF 30 no matter the weather forecast is. If you are going outside and the sun is out, put on the damn sunscreen. Your skin will thank you later. There are a number of reasons I recommend this. The first one being that it is a sunscreen and a color corrected all in one. I tend to pink really easily, and not a cute blush. I mean the pink where you low key look like a lobster the minute you go into the sun for more than 10 minutes. Since the color of the sunstuck is green, it naturally cancels out the redness. The other reason I recommend this is because it is so much easier and portable than suncreams/screens. It’s a stick that can be easily tossed into my bag when I need to put more sunscreen on (you should put reapply sunscreen after about 2 hours). Last big reason I like this is because it doesn’t leave that oily looking residue and it doesn’t become sticky and nasty when you sweat. The last of the Water Bank line and the Necessities lineup is the LANEIGE - Water Bank Hydrating Gel , which also has a cooling effect and can be put over sunscreen to give your skin that extra glow. I’m telling you, if you keep using this gel, your skin will be baby smooth within a week or two. Admittedly, some of these products are on the pricier side, but the results are worth the extra 5-7 bucks you will pay, plus, with these product, a lot goes a long way. All of the Laneige gels last me a good 6-7 months each and the toner and essence lasts me nearly an entire year. Keep in mind that I follow this skincare routine twice a day/everyday. That’s a lot longer than most products last, so consider throwing in a bit more money for a lot of results~ I hope you learned a lot from this post and were able to benefit from my reviews. I will continue with the waves and hopefully I will get through every wave my the end of next week.

My Favorite Korean Skincare Products
🇰🇷 Korean Skincare has been gaining traction in the U.S. over the last several years and rightfully so. Korean skincare is typically affordable, effective, focused on hydration and sun protection, and several years ahead of the U.S. in trending ingredients. My combo dry skin LOVES the focus on hydration and I personally really enjoy a longer multi step k beauty routine. I typically et my k beauty products on YesStyle, Wishtrend, Amazon, or Sephora if it’s something like Laneige or Glow a Recipe. Here’s some of my favorite K Beauty products I currently have on rotation: (From top left to bottom right) 🇰🇷 Dr. Jart Ceramidin Cream: A very rich, barrier replenishing moisturizer for when my skin is dry or irritated. 🇰🇷 Glow Recipe Plum Plump Serum: An antioxidant rich gel texture hyaluronic serum. I use this daily. 🇰🇷 Mauve Fantastic Ever Cool Kids Never Sleep Cream: A water cream with some loud 80s packaging that I am LIVING FOR. This is a good dupe for the Tatcha Water Cream. 🇰🇷 Then I Met You Living Cleansing Balm: A barrier replenishing cleansing balm rich in sea buckthorn oil. 🇰🇷 Dear Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream: A cream gel consistency moisturizer with blue tansy. Great for calming any inflammation. 🇰🇷 Krave Oat So Simple Water Cream: A very lightweight water cream with soothing oats. 🇰🇷 Purito Centella Green Level Safe Sun: Get 👏🏻 Hip 👏🏻 To 👏🏻 This 👏🏻 Sunscreen 👏🏻 it’s like $8 and completely invisible and weightless. This is like my fourth bottle. 🇰🇷 Then I Met You Soothing Tea Cleansing Gel: An antioxidant rich mildly exfoliating gel cleanser. I feel very so so about this. It’s fine but I wouldn’t buy again. 🇰🇷 Laneige Cream Skin Toner: A milky hydrating toner with meadow foam seed oil. 🇰🇷 Dear Klairs Supple Preparation Toner: An incredibly hydrating and plumping watery gel consistency toner. 🇰🇷 Amore Pacific Treatment Enzyme Peel: A richly foaming powder enzyme cleanser gentle enough for every day use.

Korean Skincare Haul !!! ✨✨
If you haven’t dabbled into Korean skincare it’s time to hop on the wagon ! Some of the best products I’ve used that truly changed my skin are by K-beauty. By uncovering new and effiacious ingredients, they create innovative formulas that are both gentle and effective. Best part of k-beauty is how affordable they are. Western skincare has convinced us that in order to have good skin you have to spend a lot of money. K-beauty challenges that concept by creating products with high quality ingredients and formulas while still remaining budget friendly. Starting off with products I repurchased are PURITO - Centella Unscented Toner I love this product, this really helps to bring down inflammation on the skin, it’s soothing, calming, and it’s very hydrating on the skin as well. I like to use this when I don’t want to use any products with actives and I just want to focus on repairing my moisture barrier. PURITO - Centella Unscented Toner This is the toner version of serum I just mentioned. Centella is one of my favorite ingredients to use in my skincare. It’s benefits include anti aging, it’s anti inflammatory, helps even out your skin, hydration, and healing. I love the texture and feel to this. It’s a little thicker than any of my other toners but when applied it seeps into your skin quickly without leaving a sticky feel on your face. innisfree - Green Tea Fresh Toner Another favorite toner of mine and a great staple to add to your routine. The first ingredient listed is Green tea extract meaning your getting the highest concentration of green tea as the first ingredient in this product. I love to use this in my morning routine to give my skin an extra boost hydration throughout the day. Not to mention fragrance free 😍 Products I’m excited to try: Benton - Benton Snail Bee Ultimate SerumFrom reviews I’ve read, this is soothing, hydrating, brightening, and helps protect against moisture loss. It’s a non-irritating formula that should be easy to incorporate even for sensitive skin. Super excited to try this out ! I'm from - Rice TonerI’ve been so anxious to try this from hearing so many good things about it. It’s a lightweight formula that delivers hydration and gives the skin that instant brightening effect we all love. Great for both oily and dry skin. I'm from - Honey MaskI love honey ! It’s a great humectant, great for irritated skin, good for acne, and intense moisture. There is 38.7% of real high quality Korean honey. Great for most skin types. If you have any product recommendations for dry acne prone skin leave them in the comments. Let’s help each other out 🥰#skincarehaul #skincareandshare 🤍🤍🤍

10-step Korean method
* Please know that this is NOT NECESSARY and I’m sharing as someone who has done a small amount of research regarding the topic. I personally refuse to go without a double cleanse, tone, mask treatments (3 times a week), treat, moisturize & SPF. __________________ The 10-Step is more than a routine—it's a lifestyle that has become a global phenomenon, grounded in Korea's cultural obsession with healthy skin and backed by decades of scientific advancement. * It's not about having more products than you can count, but rather about having the RIGHT products that do the right things, and using them in the right order. Having what works for YOU is important. Again, this is NOT necessary! 1) Remove makeup & sunscreen with an oil cleanser. I use a balm or an oil. I recommend huangjisoo - Pure Perfect Cleansing Oil 2) Follow up with a water based cleanser - INDIE LEE - Brightening Cleanser is one of my favorites. 3) Exfoliate - Do not exfoliate more than twice a week or you can damage your skin barrier. I have a few I enjoy YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Yerba Mate Resurfacing Energy Facial & The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution as well as TATCHA - The Deep Cleanse Exfoliating Cleanser 4) Tone - I personally love a good hydrating toner. Toners are great at removing any residue that may have been left from your cleanser as well as preps the skin to effectively absorb the products to follow. INDIE LEE - CoQ-10 Toner is one of my absolute faves as well as YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Kombucha + 11% AHA Exfoliation Power Toner 5) Essence - the right essences will be lightweight and packed with a blend of hydrating, anti-aging and complexion enhancing ingredients. Some of my faves are TATCHA - The Essence Plumping Skin Softener & CAUDALIE - Vinoperfect Brightening Glycolic Essence Also this is when I’d add my HA The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 6) Treatments - this is where your specific needs come into play. From treating hyperpigmentation, dark spots, acne and fine-lines, this will be where you add those targeted products. Vitamin C, AHA/BHA serums, retinol...etc. Medik8 - Crystal Retinal CAUDALIE - Vinoperfect Anti Dark Spot Serum and a good vitamin c are my must haves! Be sure to know what can safely be used together. 7) Mask - following the K-beauty method this is when they would add a sheet mask. I rarely sheet mask and use more topical masks. 8 - Eye cream - I personally don’t have any favorites. 9) Moisturize - Yes everyone should moisturize. Pick one that suits your skincare needs (no fragrances or essential oils) 10) SPF- EVERY SINGLE DAY!!! Let me know your thoughts regarding the 10-step method. #CherieCreator

Korean Beauty 🥳
First, follow me for more content like this😘💖 Recently I’ve been wanting to try K-Beauty since it’s becoming extremely popular. I came across a Peach & Lily review by the lovely@D.Bennettand I was sold (definitely go check out her review too😊). I purchased this at Ulta for $39.00. It comes with minis which I was excited for because when buying new products that’s what I I usually go for just to see if I actually like it or not. The kit is called “The Glass Skin Discovery Kit”. Glass skin refers to “skin that resembles a pane of glass”. You are supposed to look “poreless, smooth, translucent and illuminated”. The products in the kit are a cleanser, essence, serum and a moisturizer. 🍑 Let’s start with the cleanser. The power calm hydrating cleanser is made with camellia extract, chamomile flower extract, and cucumber extract. It is a gel cleanser that turns into a nice foam. PEACH & LILY - Power Calm Hydrating Gel Cleanser 🌸 The wild dew treatment essence is supposed to “help fight breakouts, improve skin’s radiance and impart long lasting hydration...will restore your skin to dewy goodness”. It has a water like texture and you can use it with a cotton pad or pat it in with your hands. It is formulated with allantoin, niacinamide, and radish leaf extract.PEACH & LILY - Wild Dew Treatment Essence 🍑 Now this is the product I was most excited about, the Glass skin refining serum. This product is supposed to make your skin look “glassy, poreless, luminous, and translucent.” This product is made with all the good stuff like niacinamide, peach extract, East Asian mountain yam extract, and hyaluronic acid complex and peptides. PEACH & LILY - Glass Skin Refining Serum 🌸 Last but not least we have the Matcha Pudding Antioxidant Cream. I thought this product was fun because it has a green tint to it because of the matcha. This cream is full of antioxidants to help combat everyday stress like sun exposure, pollution, and even lack of sleep. This product is made with adenosine, matcha, niacinamide and panthenol. PEACH & LILY - Matcha Pudding Antioxidant Cream Overall I’m happy with these products. The products that I probably won’t repurchase is the essence and the cleanser. In my opinion I feel like the essence does the same thing as a toner as far as hydrating goes so I wasn’t too impressed by it. As far as the cleanser, i just feel myself using too much to get that sudsy clean feeling because it’s soooo lightweight. The Glass Skin Serum is top notch. I looked super dewy and glowing and I loved it. And the moisturizer is also up there, I felt super hydrated and not greasy at all. It feels like butter going on and i loved every minute of it. Last but not least every product is for all skin types and all skin concerns. I hope this helps😘.
