Liners, shadows, and mascaras can end up looking like a smudged mess at the end of the day if you don't use a good primer.
Too Faced - Glitter Shadow Primer
If you’re like me and love pulling out some major eyeshadow glitter shades then this is the product you need! This Too Faced - Glitter Glue Eye Shadow Primer changed my shadow game for good two years ago when I first got a sample. I have oily lids and when I would wear certain eyeshadow shades, my look would start creasing and smudge! Then it all changed with this primer! It’s a tacky pearly primer and holds on to glitter shades for life! This use to be my daily eye primer but then I started a few internships and didn’t feel comfortable showing up with sparkly eye looks! But trust me if you wear metallic or glitter shades, this primer will do the trick and it does not just have to be Too Faced eyeshadows since it works well with all shades. The tip of the primer is a very precise which makes it perfect to get some on your finger when you’re applying to the lids. When I would wear this on the daily, I would have my makeup on for 9 hours and the eye look would not budge at all! It’s such an impressive item I did not know I needed until it came into my life! If you’re a huge lover of eyeshadows with sparkle, then yes I 100% recommend it! The retail cost is $22.00 for 0.35oz. One tube of this will last you a year, if not longer! It’s easy to use and it lasts a long time so I think the product is worth it!

Product Letdown: ABH Eyeshadow Primer
I’ve been trying to find an eyeshadow primer to keep the product from creasing and this sample of ABH’s hasn’t been my favorite. The formula is too thick for my lids and I find that it doesn’t blend as seamlessly into the skin as promised. You have to be very careful about how much you use.ANASTASIA Beverly Hills - ANASTASIA Beverly Hills Eye Primer

9-hour eyeshadow “primer” showdown
I hear a lot of people are still discussing the validity of using concealer instead of eyeshadow primer so I decided to put it to the test during a 9-HOUR wear test. I used the NYX - High Definition Eyeshadow Base on my right eye and my COVERGIRL - TruBlend Undercover Concealer in Golden Brown on my left. 🎺 LET THE SHOWDOWN COMMENCE!!! 🎺 3:30 p.m. application 📸 • I grab my bases and eyeshadow palette. I used Colourpop’s Lil’ Boat and COLOURPOP - Colourpop Pressed Powder Shadowwith an depanned Estée Lauder shadow you deepen the crease and outer edge. I used the same colors and techniques on both eyes so the primer and concealer was the only differing variable. 5:30 p.m. quick check • Everything seems fine. The color hasn’t faded. Nothing is separating. 👍🏾 ~ 7:30 p.m. update • I sneezed around 7:30 p.m. and unconsciously rubbed my right eye. Nothing looked disturbed. I do the same rub on the left side and hope that they are even. 🤞🏾 8:45 p.m. quick check • Everything looked fine, but I did see some of the eyeshadow wearing down in the inner corner of the CG eye. Was it from the sneeze-eye run combo? No one knows. NYX is still great, but both have dulled in color. 10:13 p.m. update • I finally see it. It is happening. The CG side is showing wear-and-tear in the inner corner. The separation is apparent. 12:32 a.m. final check in 📸 • The NYX is the clear winner. In the photo in which I swatched both mediums, you can see how much smoother the NYX base was. WINNER: NYX 🥊

WHY YOU NEED EYESHADOW PRIMER
If you have oily skin like me, you probably have oily eyelids. If you have oily eyelids, your eye makeup is probably not lasting for as long you really want it to, right? That’s where a good eyeshadow primer comes in. I used to think they were a gimmicky product, but when I tried using one, I knew there was no going back. It stopped any eyeshadow creasing and my makeup looked flawless all day. What an eye primer does is perfectly prepare your eyelid skin for makeup and increase the longevity. They’re usually silicone-based and dry down to a slightly tacky finish. However, what an eyeshadow primer doesn’t do is completely blank out your eyelid. Usually, they have no coverage. On darker skin tones, they might have a bit of a white cast, but that’s not a problem since you’ll be covering it with eyeshadow anyway. However, the lack of coverage isn’t a problem for me—I’m going over my eyelid with eyeshadow, anyway. IMO, it’s not necessary to use a colored base (like concealer) to cover eyelids unless you are laying down a white base for bright eyeshadow. Most people don’t actually need to conceal their eyelids! For comparison photos, I used primer on my right eye (your left). Here’s how I make my eye makeup last all day with an eyeshadow primer. In the comparison photo, you’ll notice that the side without primer looks less blended and just not as good overall—even though I used the same techniques and products (except for the primer, of course!) ➡️STEP ONE: Apply a tiny dab of eyeshadow primer on your lid. ➡️STEP TWO: A little goes a long way—dab this around your entire lid until it’s all blended in. ➡️STEP THREE: Set the primer with a translucent powder or an eyeshadow that matches your skin tone. This does two important things: first, setting the eyeshadow primer ensures that it’s going to be budge-proof. Secondly, it’s going to ensure that your eyeshadow blends flawlessly, instead of catching and skipping on the primer, leading to an uneven blend. ➡️STEP FOUR: After setting the primer, you can proceed with your eye look as you want! Using a primer even helps if you only wear eyeliner on your lids. My two favorites are the Urban Decay Primer Potion and Milani Eyeshadow Primer. In fact, I would say that the Milani is a drugstore dupe of the UD Primer!

Favorite Eye Shadow Primer
This is my favorite eye shadow primer!! This is the NYX Proof It eyeshadow primer. I got this on sale at Ulta for like $6 or $7 dollars. Which is incredibly affordable!! This helps my eye shadow last all day and does a wonderful job preventing creasing. The wand inside is a doe foot applicator like most concealers. I use it to spread it across my eye lid and then I typically tap over it with a beauty blender before applying the eye shadow. I highpy highly recommend this eye shadow primer. It’s a great product and super affordable.

A battle between three eyeshadow primers
In recent years, an auxiliary product is well received, and has become an indispensable step of lots of bloggers when they are doing make up. It’s eyeshadow primer. Let me just say a few words about eyeshadow primer’s effects. It works as make-up base for eyes and prepare for the follow-up eyeshadow. Eyeshadow primer will smooth out the skin, enhance the color of eyeshadow and provide long-lasting excellent eye make-up effect. Sometimes a shadow looks beautiful in the palette, but when you put it on, the color doesn't show up, or the eye shadow is perfectly painted, but it doesn't last for a while. Then you really need a eyeshadow primer. Today I am gonna compare three eyeshadow primers including e.l.f eyelid primer, Milani eyeshadow primer and Urban Decay primer. ▷ Texture: E.l.f and UD are like cream or like foundation, and Milani is pasty fluid. If you look at the pictures, you may think that Milani looks like the driest one and the other two are more moisturizing. However, the fact is just the opposite. Milani is the most moisturizing and malleable one, it only needs a little bit to cover the entire eyelid. E.l.f is very dry and UD has a little bit of moisture. ▷ Before and after eyeshadow E.l.f: You may notice the white thing in the picture, excuse me??? Dry, uneven and poor coloring finish, I think it’s better to throw it off! Milani: Mediocre color rendering, the eyeshade with primer is smoother than the bare eyeshadow. UD: Color rendering performs best. ▷ Durability I tested their durability by wiping the eyeshadow. Imagine if you directly apply eye shadow on your hands and rub, almost all the silty shadows will be wiped off. The picture shows the results with primer. You can see that E.l.f just goes away and leaves just a little white thing. Milani and UD are pretty much the same, I find it hard to tell which is better. To sum up, E.l.f performs badly. Milani is the most cost-effective option, it makes the eyeshadow fit your eyes better and has not bad durability and enough moisture, though its color development is not very good. Urban Decay does well in each espect and the package is beautiful, I personally love it. Worth buying!!!
