Eye makeup mistakes and how to fix them
I think at some point or another we all made at least one of these mistakes. The good news is the makeup artists of social media have spoken up and set the record straight. I myself have been guilty of all these mistakes myself years ago, but have learned the proper way to make my eyes look bigger. If you look at the comparison, you can see my eye area is smoother, brighter, and more open in the right side of my face- the side I made all the corrections to the makeup mistakes (picture on the left side of my face). To me, the difference is super significant. 💄 eyeliner: the mistake is drawing around your whole eye, and in even thickness, and for me, drawing in my water line. For me, I learned to draw only on my upper lid, and so always do a cat eye, making the line above my inner corner thinner then the cat eye line above my outer lid. The best way Ive been able to do that is to use a liquid liner, my go-to right now is L'ORÉAL - Infallible Super Slim Liquid Eyeliner . 💄 concealer: the most common mistake made is to only apply concealer to the under eye area (around the “bags” area) leaving the entire area under eye to the nose empty. Taking your concealer down all the way to thw bottom on thw nose and drawing kind of a triangular shape of concealer under the eye makes for a brighter, more natural finish. I also find that for me it opens my eye much more. benefit - Boi-ing Hydrating Concealer 💄 mascara: my mistake was applying one coat of mascara, focusing evenly across the entire lash line. The improvement I’ve found that opens my eye further and emphasizes the cat eye look is to focus on the outer lash and to apply 2 coats. L'ORÉAL - Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara 💄 eyebrows: finding my way to draw my ideal brow shape took some time. The most common mistake that literally changes your face is drawing the wrong eyebrow shape that doesnt suit your face structure, or drawing too thin of a brow. Ive found the shape that suits my face best and try my best to recreate it exactly every time- eyebrows is hands down the hardest part of my makeup routine and i almost always mess it up or just take too long to get them even, but I know my ideal shape, and I can do my best to recreate it every time. benefit - Goof Proof Brow Pencil #cheriepartner

TikTok Hack Tested 🤍 Wide Awake Eyes
I know we’re all addicted to scrolling through TikTok but a make up hack I’ve heard about in the past popped up on it and inspired me to give it a try. They stated in order to give yourself a more “wide awake” look all you needed to do line your bottom waterline with a white eyeliner. I tend to wear heavy make up which can make my eyes appear smaller so I wanted to give this a shot to help open and brighten up my eyes. All you need for this hack is a white eyeliner pencil. I opted for the NYX - Jumbo Eye Pencil in the shade Milk. This pencil is extremely affordable only costing $4.50. It’s creamy, pigmented, and glides onto the waterline very easily. I love NYX eyeliners because they are very bright and true to color. All you need to do for this hack is after applying your make up take the white eyeliner and apply to the bottom waterline. I would go very slow because you can easily go overboard with this pencil because of how creamy it is. Honestly, I was a little disappointed with the results. It almost looked fake and a little early 2000’s then a “wide awake” bright look like the TikTok stated. It’s really obvious you put white eyeliner on and doesn’t look natural. I wouldn’t recommend this hack to others and I don’t think it’s worth it. Next time, I think I’d opt for a nude pencil (which I do believe NYX carries) instead. I think that would give a more natural, awake look.

Makeup Tips for Dark Skin: 7 Products and Tricks
Applying makeup to dark skin has a unique set of challenges. For example, if dark skin isn’t properly moisturized before applying makeup, the skin can look ashy.
