recently i just bought this snail serum to help get rid of my texture, moisturize, and repair my skin. looking at the photos i think it did two out of the 3 things. my textured skin seems the same and i really don't see a difference, but it feels really moisturized and healthy. i usually mix this in with my moisturizer and then roll out my skin and it works just perfectly. if your looking for a serum that will give you a dewy, youthful look then this is it. but it doesn't get rid of texture or acne. so i didn't finish my summary yesterday, and did my regular night routine. i haven't used this serum long and i went to bed last night and my texture is much better, my skin looks clear and softer than yesterday. i honestly think the product needed more time to settle and adjust to my skin.
The Ordinary is the BOMB!
I am sure everyone has already heard of The Ordinary right? At first, I would watch YouTube videos about skincare online and see this brand name being thrown around. Another skincare guru YouTuber uses The Ordinary and basically promotes it to the T, calling it “the holy grail of affordable skincare.” So what exactly is The Ordinary and does it actually work? The Ordinary is a subsidiary of Deciem who also sells high-quality and high-end skincare products. Products are made in Canada and are certified cruelty-free, which means they do not test on animals and does not sell in China. Note to cruelty-free/vegan consumers: please check that any brand you buy has the verified Bunny/Does Not Test on Animals label. Also, make sure the company doesn’t sell their products in China. China has a mandatory law that makes it required to test all products on animals before selling there. Be aware. At the beginning, I was skeptic to try TO’s products simply due to the fact the prices were so low. Majority of brands price their products mark their products up to 200% due to their name and extensive list of ingredients they use. A lot of cruelty-free skincare I’ve looked up will cost minimum $20 for a small bottle or tube. I’m a student who only works part-time, so I’m not willing to spend $50 on a small item that might not even work well on my sensitive skin. Current issues: hyperpigmentation, dry skin, contact dermatitis (sensitive skin), uneven texture, redness, occasional oiliness, loss of elasticity in the eye area, fine lines, clogged pores and light acne. I looked up TO’s prices and I was like “wow!” One ampoule can cost as low as $4-5 CAD. I was amazed, so I decided to buy two things. I bought The Ordinary’s Niacinamide 10% + 5% Zinc serum and Pycnogenol 5%. The niacinamide zinc serum is water-based and a clear colour. It doesn’t really have much of a scent (if any). It’s not as oily as I expected it to be. This is used for dark spots, acne scars and pores. It can also help manage light acne as well. This isn’t a product meant to cure worse acne. I massage this into my skin this after cleansing and toning in the morning. Pycnogenol serum is pure antioxidant with a brownish red colour, in an amber bottle. It smells slightly like acetic acid (white vinegar), but the smell is not obnoxious. It does have a slight oily feel, but so far it doesn’t feel gross. I put it after the niacinamide. Put this after water-based serums and before any heavy oils or creams. I add moisturizer/sunscreen after this serum. The results are amazing. The niacinamide serum has made my skin less oily! I also have more moisture and my redness is going down. Pycnogenol has helped my skin feel softer as well. They don’t really help my fine lines, at least not yet. Same with my freckles and scars. I think I didn’t use them long enough. I also purged using them at first. I recommend these products to you all seriously! Don’t knock it till you rock it. :)

My holy grails: acne-prone, red, textured skin
My skin isn't "good". I've struggled with clogged pores and acne all my life. These are the products I've been using and loving these past few months. Disclaimer: I work for Stratia, but all Stratia products included in this list are *TRULY* my faves from other products I've tried throughout the years Cleanser: Beauty Strike Oil Cleanser - I haven't used very many oil cleansers so I can't compare this to other oil cleansers in the market, but it does the trick for my skin. It does have a fragrance ingredient, but as this is a wash-off product I haven't noticed any irritation. Bonus: Beauty Strike is a black, woman-owned company from Brooklyn NY. stratia - Velvet Cleansing Milk The best experience with a non-foaming cleanser I've ever had. I have oilier skin so I'm usually a fan of foaming cleansers, but I got a free bottle of VCM when I started working at Stratia and decided to give it a shot. I used Cetaphil before, & ended up over-rubbing my skin to compensate for the lack of foam. Velvet Cleansing Milk is the only NF cleanser I've used that's actually made me feel clean! stratia - C+C Serum This Vitamin C serum uses silicone instead of oil as a vehicle which I personally prefer. My face stung in a few places my first time using it, but it's not a problem anymore. My skin is visibly brighter PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA (Salicylic Acid) Liquid Exfoliator I bought this specifically for the blackheads on my nose. I can't say I've noticed much of a difference there, but this has helped SO MUCH with my bacne. Curology - Curology formula (0.018% Tretinoin, 8% Azelaic Acid, 1% Clindamycin - This is a newer addition to my routine, but 1 week in an my active pimples have all dried up and I haven't had a new breakout since. stratia - Rewind anti-aging dame essence Took some time to show visible results, but it was a great hydrating step to add to my routine in the meantime. About a month in I noticed that the fine lines on my forehead were less noticeable and my skin overall just felt firmer. stratia - Liquid Gold - The moisturizer that I will be using for the rest of my life! I didn't realize my moisture barrier was damaged before using liquid gold, but since using it, my skin is less irritated when I use actives and overall has a healthy glow. If you try anything on this list of product, TRY THIS ONE. elta md SKINCARE - UV Clear Broad Spectrum SPF 46 - I ve been using this SPF since march and it's definitely a favorite of mine. I've heard some people say that it pills under makeup but that hasn't been a problem for me. It's not tinted, but my redness is visibly reduced when I use it. Maybe it's the niacinamide? The one thing I'll say is that since I've started Curology, it feels a bit dry on my face.

I began using CeraVe about a year ago and I have never looked back. Not only did it help with my textured skin, but it completely changed the look of my dry ashy face to a healthy glow. SA Cleanser CeraVe - Renewing SA Cleanser For Normal Skin The cleanser of this line is extremely soothing, gentle and perfect for sensitive skin. It does not remove make up and is safe to use as an everyday morning and evening cleanser. SA Cream CeraVe - Renewing SA Cream The cream is a thick consistency that helps penetrate the skin and creates a hydrating look. After continuous use I saw a significant difference in my skin as it looked bright and hydrated. The cream is a perfect winter moisturizer. Some may find it too thick for the summer, but from personal experience and extremely dry skin, it works for me all year round. SA Lotion CeraVe - Renewing SA Lotion The SA lotion is a nighttime moisturizer that contains salicylic acid and lactic acid that helps exfoliate the skin at night. This is only a nighttime moisturizer as these chemicals cannot be exposed to sunlight. The lotion helps restore the protective skin barrier and leaves a brightening look for the day. ——————————————— Results! I absolutely love this line. It is my holy grail. It helped with literally all of my skin concerns from dullness, uneven texture, uneven skin tone and extreme dryness.
