Dermatologists' Advice: How To Get Rid Of Eye Bags & Dark Circles
Time is constantly moving, and it really does wait for no one. Sometimes, it feels like there just are not enough hours in the day to get everything done, take care of yourself, and get a good night’s sleep. It leads to fatigue and sleep deprivation, dehydration, and stress – and it shows a physical toll through annoying undereye bags and dark circles. While these can be as easy to get rid of as getting a good night’s sleep, they can also be extremely persistent. Want to know the best ways to get rid of them? Here’s how to best reduce undereye bags and dark circles, according to dermatologists.
A serum to wake up your eyes
The Ordinary’s caffeine solution is an added help for me on mornings when I was going through it with my sleep. It reduces eye puffiness and reduces dark circles. I store this in the fridge and pair it with one of my eye creams morning and night to really get all the hydration in. It’s kind of the middle in terms of consistency between lightweight and thicc (yes...I said THICC). Eye serums and creams are always the hardest for me to judge because I can never quite tell if it’s working. There’s a good dose of caffeine in here from my research, and I think this is most effective for me in the mornings. Overall I wouldn’t use this by itself without an eye cream. I think it’s a great primer and wakes up your eyes but it won’t do miracles. Worth it? Depends on what you need. It’s quite cheap, only about $7 so it’s not a total loss if it doesn’t work for you. I enjoy that the most about The Ordinary’s products. I’d recommend getting it if you’re someone who deals with tired eyes in the morning. It’s not going to change everything but it’ll certainly help in making you not look so tired! The Ordinary - Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG

Derm‘s SUG: How to Treat Dark Circles at Home
The dark circles that appear under our eyes can be difficult to treat. They can come from a variety of causes, some of which are out of our control, such as aging and genetics. However, there are some lifestyle choices which cause this problem, such as lack of sleep, allergies, eczema, diet, dehydration, alcohol consumption, smoking and even stress, which we can rectify. The discoloration stems from a variety of factors, such as the prominence of the blood vessels underneath the skin, pigment in the skin, and thickness of the skin. Patients may have only one or could have several factors, which contribute to dark circle formation. Since this problem can have many causes, I find that the best solution for this problem is a combination of treatments. There are several ingredients which can help alleviate dark circles under the eyes. - Hyaluronic acid - absorb large quantities of water in the skin and help hydrate and pump up dry skin, making the dark color less noticeable. - Caffeine - constrict the blood vessels, and remove some red discoloration. - Dimethicone - moisturize and smooth the skin, and acts as a barrier to prevent further loss of moisture. - Retinoids/retinol - increase cell turnover in the skin to get rid of dead skin cells, leading to improvement in wrinkles, texture and discoloration of the skin under the eyes. - Vitamin C - an anti-oxidant which helps protect the skin from harmful UV rays which destroy our collagen, but also helps to brighten the skin and remove discoloration. - Hydroquinone and kojic acid - remove brown discoloration in the skin. I have used L’Oreal Revitalift Triple Power Eye Cream in the past and found it to be helpful. It combines hyaluronic acid to hydrate and plump the skin, vitamin C to brighten the skin, dimethicone to hydrate and smooth the skin, and retinol to help remove the discoloration and wrinkles. I have also used Skin Medica TNS Illuminating Eye cream, which not only contains hyaluronic acid and antioxidants, but also has dimethicone the help hydrate and smooth the skin. It is a more expensive but does help as well. If over the counter products fail, you can try in office treatments, such as chemical peels, lasers, dermal fillers, or surgery.

Got Dark Circles?Color correct with Red Lipstick
Let's face it; dark circles are inevitable. Yes, you can get rid of them, but until then, you can do this simple hack to make sure they aren't peaking through your makeup. For newbies, color correcting can be a little intimidating, but don't worry; you will get the hang of it. On a fresh face, take a simple red or orange lipstick, and with your finger start dabbing it onto your under eyes, a little goes a long way, so try not to overdo it. To make sure that you cover your entire under-eye area, draw a large upside-down triangle. This should reach from the corner of your inner eye to the bottom of your nose to about an inch past the outer corner of your eye. Blend it as much as you can until it's just a tint of red or orange. Now you can move onto either applying your concealer or go straight to the foundation. I don't use concealer so I just put foundation on top. If you feel like you can still see the red or orange then apply a concealer to mask the color and use a little less red next time. Don't forget to set it with some translucent powder! This will help keep everything in place throughout the day. Fun Fact: The reason this helps correct dark circles is because there are tints of blue and green in dark circles. In color theory, the color that is opposite of it (red and orange) will neutralize the color (this also applies when you're toning blonde hair which is why you use purple shampoo to get rid of yellow) I love to use MILANI - Color Statement Matte Lipstick in 07 Best Red because it gives a little bit of a sticky surface, which means your makeup isn't going ANYWHERE. Also, if you are looking for a cheap drug store brand lipstick, this is the best, especially for a red because it doesn't bleed! And it feels comfortable and smooth on your lips 💋

The ordinary: the WORST eye serum I've ever used! LANCÔME: Game changer!
As someone who has dark circles all the year round. I've tried mountains of eye serums and eye creams. I really need an effective eye product to brighten the under eye. Since I really hate using sticky eye creams, eye serums are always my choice. Today I wanna talk about my lover and hater. The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG I really really hate this eye serum because I have milia for the first time in my life after using it. I thought it was because of the wrong way I used it. My friend followed the right steps as it claims, but she still didn't see any progress. I've read many reviews saying good things about it. It is the worst hyped product I have ever used. TBH, it is very affordable and the key ingredient, caffeine, is very attractive. I have combination skin and I don't have sensitive eyes. If you have the same reaction like me, please comment! LANCÔME Advanced Génifique Yeux Light-Pearl Eye & Lash Concentrate I know it is a little bit expensive, but it is WORTH EVERY PENNY! My sis sent this to me as my birthday gift. I used it for about a week and I saw the progress around my eyes! The puffiness and my stubborn dark circles were getting better. Every morning, the first thing I did was rushing to the mirror to see if there's any progress. It never disappointed me. If you still struggle with the dark circles, I will definitely recommend it to you!

Skincare Targeting Dark Circles & Dryness
It's very common to experience fine lines and or dryness around your eyes, especially as you age. Hydration is key to healthy skin. Tip 1 drink a lot of water, your skin will thank you. Sometimes you think you have the start of wrinkles when its just signs of a dehydration. There is an inexpensive product you probably already have at home that will help with hydration, that is Vaseline. This product will help lock in moisture. I apply this right on top of my skin and under my eyes after using a serum and moisturizer. The Vaseline acts as a barrier over the skin and protects the skin because it is very occlusive. It will help lock in moisture and has healing properties. I will take a small amount on my finger and lightly dab under my eyes with my ring finger. Using your ring finger will allow for less pressure in such a sensitive area. Do not over do it, you don’t have to apply a lot. A pea sized amount tapped into the skin is just enough. Be sure to do this on cleansed, moisturized skin. You don't want to trap in dirt and oils underneath the product. To target dark circles, a Vitamin C serum is essential. This can be used all over your skin and under your eyes and has many benefits. Vitamin C is an antioxidant that will help reduce the appearance of dark circles. It helps build collagen and elastin in the skin. It will help plump skin, smooth fine lines at the corner of your eyes and brighten the under eyes as well. It is one of my staple skincare products. I take the syringe and drop two drops on my fingertips, warm it up between my fingers and press lightly under my eyes until it is absorbed. I apply every morning once a day before my moisturizer and spf. This is one of my favorite skincare steps. I see a huge difference in my skin and my under eyes from Vitamin C. This will help achieve brightness and make your glowy skin care goals come to life.
