BRAND SPOTLIGHT: GLOSSIER
BRAND SPOTLIGHT: GLOSSIER
Glossier is a brand that I’ve always admired. Their marketing is truly amazing and there’s no other fanbase so dedicated to one brand. With that said, they have come out with some great products and some that leave me disappointed. The Hits: Glossier. - Generation G Sheer Matte Lipstick in Like, Jam, Leo & Cake I love this lipstick. I have gone through 2 tubes of the shade Like and 1 tube of the shade Jam. It’s beautiful on the lips, slips on easily, and doesn’t dry them out despite being a soft matte formula. Glossier. - Cloud Paint Seamless Cheek Color in Storm, Dawn, Puff, Dusk & Haze If you love the watercolor blush look, this is the one for you. It’s a super lightweight and thin formula that blends in seamlessly into the skin. It meshes really well whether or not you have foundation underneath and the finish is undetectable on the skin! The shade Dusk also doubles as a warm-toned bronzer! Glossier. - Vinylic Lip High Shine Lacquer in Pony & Bank If you’re looking for glossy, pigmented color, these Vinylic Lips will definitely impress you! Not only are they long-lasting, they leave a stain on your lips once the gloss wears off so you’re never left without color! It’s not sticky and leaves a decent amount of shine- it’s my lip gloss dream! (Hint: Glossier Vinylic Lip > Glossier Lip Gloss) Honorable mentions that aren’t pictured (AKA products I ran out of and haven’t had time to repurchase): - Boy Brow Adds volume, color and small fibers to thicken the brows for a natural, bushy look! - Brow Flick Perfect for natural brow days where I want to pinpoint the areas in my brows to add a few strokes of brow hairs! - Lash Slick The only way to get “lash extensions” without getting them! This adds lots of length and a bit of volume- it also never smudges on me! - Stretch Concealer My no-makeup makeup day ESSENTIAL. I seriously have to pick up another! It adds coverage and looks just. like. skin! The Misses: Glossier. - Colorslide Technogel Eye Pencil in Disaster Class & Stable Relationship It’s such a shame I don’t like these because the color range is so unique and fun. The formula is just way too hard and it tugs on my eye area (which I cannot tolerate)! If these were creamier, I’d buy literally all the shades. Glossier. - Lidstar Glistening Eye Glow in Fawn & Cub These aren’t the worst that I’ve tried from Glossier, but I’ve tried better from other brands. These liquid eyeshadows look promising when you first swatch them with the applicator but once you take a brush or your finger to blend, it blends away into nothing. It just looks like a faded pile of shimmer on the lids. It only works if you apply it with the applicator, leave it alone and don’t try to touch it! Glossier. - Glossier. Lip Gloss in Clear This gloss looks beautiful but it’s sticky and feels thick. No matter how thin of a layer I apply, it’s uncomfortable and drying! It’s beautiful for editorial photos though!

Let me introduce you guys to @SeSpringskin! They’re a newly launched Korean inspired skincare brand that utilizes botanical ingredients derived from nature. Two key ingredients that can be seen in all of their products are camellia and lotus extracts. These provide the skin with antioxidants, hydration, soothing, and brightening benefits. I’ve been using these for about 2 weeks now so I’m ready to share my thoughts on them. ▶️ SeSPRING - Cleanse It Out Gel Cleanser - a thick gel textured cleanser that lathered into a creamy foam. I really liked this as my skin felt hydrated and stripped afterwards. Has a slight scent to it but it was very pleasant and added a nice sensorial experience. ▶️ SeSPRING - Cleanse It Out Foaming Oil Cleanser - a gel like cleanser that claims to melt away makeup, dirt, oils, and impurities. This was able to remove my many layers of sunscreen quite easily. I don’t wear makeup so didn’t test it on that. This wasn’t as hydrating as the other cleanser but my skin didn’t feel stripped either. ▶️ SeSPRING - So Polished Sugar Scrub - a typical sugar based scrub meant to physically exfoliate the skin. This wasn’t that abrasive since the sugar granules began to slowly melt as I massaged it into my damp skin. It left my skin feeling soft afterwards but I don’t really exfoliate physically anymore so this was just meh for me. ▶️ SeSPRING - 2-in-1 Moisture Lock Mist - a great bi-phase mist that provides a good amount of hydration and moisture to the skin without making it overly greasy. I loved using this in between steps to help increase my hydration levels. ▶️ SeSPRING - So Rich Hydrating Gel - more of a cream than a gel but it was very hydrating and moisturizing. It leaves a dewy finish which I wasn’t to keen on but at least it didn’t leave me overly greasy by the end of the day. The hydration lasted all day though. ▶️ SeSPRING - So Rich Moisturizing Cream - a medium weight cream that felt very rich and occlusive on the skin. A bit to heavy for me during the day so I mainly used it in the evening. Left my skin soft and smooth. A little goes a very long way with this. ▶️ SeSPRING - Dreamy Glow Sleeping Mask - a thick gel textured sleeping mask that actually stayed on my skin throughout the entire night. I woke up to hydrated, soft, and supple skin that looked brighter the next morning. Really loved this one. Overall, SeSpring has created a great set of products for anyone who’s looking for skincare that won’t cause any irritations. It’s been clinically tested for all skin types! I thoroughly enjoyed all their products but my favorites from their lineup are the cleanse it out gel cleanser, so rich hydration gel, and the dreamy glow sleeping mask! Check these out if any of these interests you!

Brand Spotlight: Youth to the People
If you’ve been following my posts, you know how much love I have for Youth to the People’s skincare products, and I’m here to say that love extends to the brand itself. ♻️ environmental consciousness ♻️ All of YTTP’s packaging comes in glass bottles that are reusable or recyclable, and their box packaging is made from post-consumer, recyclable paper. The clean glass bottles let the gorgeous products speak for themselves while minimizing waste. In addition to all this, I love how straightforward their packaging is - if drives me crazy when the volume of a product looks doubled because of all the extra packaging a brand threw on to make it look fancy. YTTP also strongly encourages their customers to reuse packaging by refilling travel containers from the full size product and even offer a 16oz refill bottle for their cleanser so you don’t have to keep buying new pump bottles. YTTP also places a huge focus on sustainably sourcing the products inside their bottles! 🌈 social consciousness 🌈 One of YTTP’s mottos is “skincare for all.” They actively work to find models of all different ages and skin colors to ensure that everyone sees themselves represented by their skincare products. They don’t shy away from difficult conversations and seek out ways to give diverse voices a platform. Every June, they create a pride month collaboration fundraiser produc and year round, they are committed to giving a percentage of their proceeds to support non-profits and working in their local LA community. 🥗 ingredient consciousness 🥗 YTTP isn’t just out here trying to crank out new products for us to fill our shelves with. They are very ingredient focused and take their inspiration from the same foods that are good for us when we eat them. They craft each new product taking inspiration from these ingredients and working to target specific results. Their products are vegan and cruelty free - basically an organic salad for your face. 💫 my superstars 💫 YTTP has three starter sets for oily/combo/dry skin that can get you started with a regimen specialized for you, but used correctly, all of their products are formulated to work for all skin types (so you could be like me and just use them all...sorry wallet!!) That said, my all time favorites are the Superfood Cleanser and the Hydrate and Glow Oil. If I had to, I could probably get by with just these two products. They are so simple, gentle and effective. The cleanser nourishes and cleans with no stripping and the oil is lightweight and packed with SO many hydrating ingredients like prickly pear, maqui, and squalane. More realistically, when I travel I bring these two and a mini size of one or both of their moisturizers which is also my fallback routine anytime my skin is flaring up! Have you tried youth to the people? What’s your favorite product? Any questions about the brand? PS. @CheriePicksince you asked - if I haven’t made it clear already, YTTP is my favorite skincare brand 😉

Brand Spotlight: The Best and Worst of Morphe ✨
Brand Spotlight: The Best and Worst of Morphe ✨
I think that beauty is all about mixing high-end brands with more budget friendly, drugstore products – and a cheaper brand I am always reaching for is Morphe. Morphe products retail for around the $4-$15 mark, give or take a few bucks, and I find that most of their products are great – and comparable in quality to higher end, more luxurious items! However, there are always some products that miss the mark and fall into the ‘meh’ category. Morphe is well-known for their eyeshadow palettes, some of which are downright huge – the 35W, pictured here, has a whopping thirty five shades and is somewhat cult; even their smaller palettes hold eighteen shades, both shimmers and mattes. I’ve bought both types of palettes, and both times have been extremely disappointed: the colours are dusty and blend away into nothing, and the shimmer shades (only featured in the smaller palettes) are chalky and don’t pack a punch. Admittedly, at less than $1 per shade, it’s not surprinsing – but with such cult reviews, I’m shocked these fall into the ‘meh’ category for me! On the flip side, Morphe lip liners are a game changer – as good, if not better, than MAC’s offering, creamy, pigmented and only $4 (FOUR DOLLARS!), they are a staple in my makeup bag. Morphe’s makeup brushes are also great: I’ve had brushes from MAC, Chanel, Liz Earle, Illamasqua and more, and Morphe’s are resilient, durable, lovely and soft, and a fraction of the price – plus, they look super cute on the dressing table. A must have for makeup lovers everywhere!

I have done in depth reviews on each of these products but after a full year of using The Deep Cleanse as my facial cleanser, I thought it to be the right time to do a spotlight on my favorite products. Empties: I have gone through a mini Deep Cleanse and one full bottle in 1 year and I am never going back. My Water Cream full size and mini are also both empty. Because I spend a lot of time testing and reviewing products, I have not repurchased YET but fully plan to when my tests are complete. In combination with other skin treatments such as chemical peels, face masks, and safe sun exposure, my skin has never been better. I am so thankful to have discovered this brand. Additionally, when the Kissu Lip Mask dropped earlier this year, I snatched it up so quickly and haven’t had chapped lips since! I wear this lip mask every night to ensure moisture is locked in and never have to worry about my lip texture. 💋 More reasons to love Tatcha: • The Beautiful Faces, Beautiful Futures campaign supports educating underprivileged girls to break the cycle of poverty and fund their academic endeavors 📝 • This campaign also partners with Room to Read which helps supply textbooks, mentoring, and coaching to support young women in academia. 📚 • Tatcha’s products are minimal in ingredients, surpass Sephora’s Clean campaign, and are both good for you and the earth. 🍃 If you love Tatcha like I do, comment below why you love this brand and share your love with the Cherie community!
