Vitamin C & Alpha Arbutin to Treat Dark Spots
🍊I’m slowly making my way through The Ordinary’s Vitamin C products. I love love love TO’s alpha arbutin so the fact that it’s mixed with vitamin C, it’s close to being the perfect product. This product is 8% Ascorbic acid and 2% alpha arbutin. It’s water free which allows for the vitamin C & alpha arbutin to be stable (they’re unstable in water). To get technical, this means it’s an anhydrous solution :) The Ordinary - Ascorbic Acid 8% + Alpha Arbutin 2% This is classified as a serum but does have an oily feel once applied to the skin (it IS oil-free). It takes maybe 10-15 seconds for it to absorb into the skin. It also has a scent to it which almost smells metallic to me? The Ingredients: Ascorbic acid: brightens the skin; helps with fine lines and other signs of aging Alpha arbutin: helps reduce the look of hyperpigmentation. With that being said, this product is ideal for anyone who is looking to: reduce dark spots, reduce fine lines & wrinkles, treat acne/blemish marks, provide an overall brightness to the skin This can be used in the AM or PM. While I didn’t notice any tingling or irritation, be sure to spot test — especially if you’re new to vitamin C. This product has a “moderate potency” according to Deciem :) Also, thanks to this product, I have noticed a change in some scarring on my leg from a pesky ingrown hair. With this product, less is more, especially since it has an oily feel to it. If your skin is oily, this may not be the best vitamin C to try; however, I think this is great if you have dry skin! Recommend this 100%. Retails for $10 CAD. PS Don’t forget to wear sunscreen when using vitamin C products 🧴☀️😎

My Acne Transformation (January 2020-July 2020)
I thought for my first post on here I would share how I was able to tackle my stubborn acne and scars. Skin Care Routine (morning & night) I exfoliate everyday with my Neutrogena cleanser. Exfoliating everyday isn’t a great idea for every skin type, but since I have so much dry skin to get rid of it works for me! Next, I go in with a gentle toner from Nivea with a cotton pad all over my face excluding my eyes. Then I take my Vichy mineral 89 (OMG, I LOVE this stuff) and gently dab it into my eye area with my ring finger. Seriously guys, this stuff is a bottle of magic. My dark circles were pretty much completely gone after 2 weeks of using it. Next, I go in with my 10% benzoyl peroxide and place small pea sized amounts on both cheeks and my forehead. Rub it in with your fingers. Then, I take my acne spot treatment from Neutrogena and place it on the same areas as the benzoyl peroxide. Rub it in all over. I do this because I have many acne scars all over my face. Lastly, I moisturize all over my face AND neck using my Neutrogena Facial Moisturizer. And that’s it! I can’t tell you guys how much this routine has helped me and my confidence. Aside from knowing which products I’ve used, I think it’s also important to know the other ways to achieve the skin you want. I think the most important tip (and maybe the most obvious one?) I can give you is never miss a day. If there’s anyone like me out there who sleeps in their makeup sometimes, trust me your skin will hate you for it. It will make it seem like progress isn’t happening, when really there is but you’re causing new breakouts making it seem like nothing is happening! Another tip I should probably mention is maybe ditch the makeup for a while. I know it might seem weird and uncomfortable walking around with a bare face. But even if you were able to minimize your makeup routine to just a concealer, mascara and brows, you are allowing your skin to breathe and soak up that sunlight! Speaking of sunlight, my final tip is go outside and enjoy the sun on your days off (with no makeup of course)! When I went camping last weekend, being outside for a whole 3 days and getting an excellent tan really helped hide the acne scars on my face. Seriously, they’re barely noticeable now. And I bet you won’t be seeing them again for a long time! To end this post, I really hope my tips and routine helps you guys out and thanks for reading! :) VICHY - Minéral 89 Eyes Hyaluronic Acid Eye Gel Cream Neutrogena - Oil-Free Acne Wash Daily Scrub equate - 10% Benzoyl Peroxide Acne Treatment Gel Neutrogena - Rapid Clear Stubborn Acne Spot Gel Neutrogena - Facial Moisturizer

Drugstore Acne Treatment 💰
I swear by this product. Burt’s Bees: I am a big Burt’s Bees fan. When looking for natural and effective products, this is a go to brand! Plus you can find them in you local drugstore. They use up to 99% natural ingredients and are cruelty free, environmentally friendly, naturally sourced. This product: BURT’S BEES - Natural Acne Solutions Maximum Strength Spot Treatment Cream 99.5% Natural Willow Bark: This is a natural BHA. The BHA focused is Salicylic Acid at MAXIMUM STRENGTH OTC (2%). This acid is great for treating acne & even helps with pores. My experience: I got this from Walgreens for $8 (They have sales on Burt’s Bees a lot of times) it retails at $12.99 The instructions (which I usually follow) says to apply a thin layer on clean skin starting with one application. Then moving up to 2-3 gradually over the days. Salicylic aid is strong and works fast. I usually only use this when I have a active breakouts and need help overnight. I Cleanse Tone Apply this Product Then use my night time moisturizer!

Yes to Tomatoes: Triple-Threat Acne Treatment
I don’t often get acne break outs. But with Polycystic ovary syndrome you expect the unexpected. When I do break out I use this yes to tomatoes overnight spot treatment. It’s ingredients are 98% natural and mainly charcoal, sulfur (4%), and witch hazel. It works amazing. In one night a giant red pimple shrinks to a pink little bump. In about 3 nights of use the pimples are completely-or almost completely-gone. My favorite go to. It comes with a nice case and a bag of charcoal w-tipsy dap the mixture on. Make sure to shake well as much of the mixture settles at the bottom.

With patience, Differin worked for me!
I’ve always been skeptical of the products that cause purging, but while in quarantine I decided to give Differin a shot! My skin was congested, breakouts are always popping up, and they were painful. I’ve always been the kind of person to take care of my skin, but I couldn’t manage to get rid of my team for breakouts and the terrible texture on my cheeks and jawline. So, I gave Differin a try. - At first, my skin definitely was dry and irritated because of the product, but I made sure to moisturize well. I tried not to put any make up on and just let my skin do its thing. It’s also important to not pick at your face, which I am SO guilty of doing. - I know everyone’s skin is different, but it only took about a month for it to clear up! I just had another flare up but I’m not sure if it’s stressed related bc #unemployedgrad but this really helped me! Just stay consistent and you’ll see results quickly! 😇

Allergic to a Soothing Balm
Let me start by saying this is my second tube of this soothing cream and it has both done me wonders and done me dirty. 🧊LA ROCHE-POSAY - Cicaplast Baume B5 for Dry Skin Irritations This balm goes on thick and sticky and leaves a white cast. IMO, it smells like Elmer’s glue. I’ve traditionally used it as a thick spot treatment when I have a bad reaction to something (usually acne treatments gone awry) and to help calm my eczema. Used this way, it is a quick fix! A few months ago I damaged my barrier badly and picked up a fresh tube to slather myself in. I coated my face in just this morning and night for about three days and was making great progress until one morning after application, my face turned bright red and starting burning. It burned so badly I had to wash it off, ice my face, and instead put my oatmeal-based body lotion (I’ve been using it for years and know for a fact I tolerate it well and wasn’t going to risk putting on some other moisturizer I was still testing out). My face was bumpy and red for about a week following, which indicates to me there’s something in this cream that, with prolonged exposure my skin doesn’t like. I still use this as a spot treatment now and then, but would not recommend using this in place of a nightly moisturizer. When I eventually use it up, I’m hoping to replace it with MyTopicals Like Butter as an alternative eczema/irritated skin spot treatment.
