Peeling Face Masks: $50👎🏼 vs $7 👏🏼
Peeling Face Masks: $50👎🏼 vs $7 👏🏼
Both of these exfoliating masks are meant to “peel” away dead skin. They are at very different price points: the PTR facial is $48 and The Ordinary’s is only $7. The main thing I did not like about the PTR facial is that it claims to “roll away impurities”, but this is something that cannot really be accomplished just by applying a gel to your face. The rolling and pilling that occurs is just a result of the product not absorbing into your skin and pilling on itself. I really feel like it truly is just the product that pills up and not any dead skin. I really did not feel a huge difference at all after using this, and am a little suspicious that they made these “peeling” claims! I also felt like I had to use a large amount of product to achieve this “pilling” effect, so I feel like the product would run out quickly.Plus for $50 I want an exfoliating mask that makes a noticeable difference. The Ordinary’s peeling mask, however, is really amazing for the price. The color is neat and you can see where you have applied it, and you can feel it working on your skin. Be careful not to apply too much the first couple of times because it can burn a little bit. I use one dropper of it all over my face and this is the perfect amount. After I wash it off I really feel like my skin feels refreshed and my pores look smaller. Plus, for $7, you really can’t beat it!

give me the AHA/BHA DUPE!
give me the AHA/BHA DUPE!
🌸The high end HERBIVORE - Prism 20% AHA + 5% BHA Exfoliating Glow Facial vs 🌸the dupe The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution 🌸 which is better? the dupe! The Ordinary’s peeling solution is more effective for me and costs less at $7. Prism on the other hand is more gentle and costs $58. I like the feel of the Ordinary’s on my skinThe Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution 🌸 ingredients both products use alpha hydroxy acids and beta hydroxy acids in different proportions. The effects are very similar: AHAs exfoliate dead skin and refine texture, BHAs dissolve oil and can make pores appear smaller. Because Prism has less AHA, it doesnt sting as much as the Ordinary. It has more BHA which can be very helpful for people with acne. The Ordinary also has a solid concentration of BHA for the same use 🌸 texture the color of Prism is clear and the texture is like a gel, with a tingle. The Ordinary is dark red and also gel-like, and it stings the skin more. You should not leave these masks on for a prolonged period of time or you can suffer a chemical burn

Should you use an AHA, BHA, or PHA?
Should you use an AHA, BHA, or PHA?
Chemical exfoliators help remove dead skin cells, which is amazing for targeting so many different skin concerns from acne, to dark spots and acne scars, to signs of aging. With so many different options for ✨chemical exfoliation✨ nowadays, I decided to put together a little cheat sheet to help understand all the main ones! 😝 There are three main categories: Alpha Hydroxy Acids, Beta Hydroxy Acids, and Poly Hydroxy Acids. The acids within each category generally work similarly, but there are some nuances. (I won’t be going into the finer details here though and will be giving more of an overview instead.) ✨ AHAs are great for surface level exfoliation, which helps even out and smooth skin texture such as fine lines, mild acne, flaking, or other texture like keratosis pilaris. By removing the dead skin cells on the surface, they can help give you an overall brighter complexion. There are also a few different ones to choose from, so there’s a high chance you’ll find one that works for you without the irritation. Keep in mind that the size of the molecule impacts how much it penetrates which increases potential for irritation. Just because a molecule is penetrating less does not mean it is less effective! It’s just different. ✨BHAs are great for deeper exfoliation by especially clearing our oils in your pores (oily skinned peeps!) which means fewer black heads (and other comedones too). You don’t have to apply skincare products to your entire face though, so if you find you have more blackheads in your T-Zone (hello combination skin), then you can just apply it to your T-Zone area to target it. It’s also related to aspirin so it can have some mild anti-inflammatory properties. ✨PHAs are the most gentle, so if you can’t tolerate AHAs or BHAs, or you’re just starting out, this ingredient is for you. They’re very similar to AHAs in that they achieve surface level exfoliation but without the sun sensitivity. In general, you do not need to exfoliate daily! Even 3 times a week is plenty, but if you’re just starting, definitely patch test and start slow (1x per week for a couple weeks, then gradually increase the frequency if you’re not experiencing any irritation). Lastly, remember to wear sunscreen especially with AHAs and BHAs because they make your skin more sensitive to sun (but really you should be wearing sunscreen regardless <-- more on this in my next post). #CheriePartner

Honest Review: Mizon AHA & BHA Daily Clean Toner
Honest Review: Mizon AHA & BHA Daily Clean Toner
Although I’m not that prone to breakouts, I do get a lot of blackheads and whiteheads, especially around my t-zone area. I’ve always had combination skin so while my cheeks are mostly dry, my forehead, nose, and chin tend to get oily when it gets warm and humid. Before, I relied mostly on physical exfoliation and extraction to get the job done. However, that’s not really recommended since it can wear out the skin over time. So when I first found this toner after searching for AHA/BHA products, I was pretty excited. Mizon AHA & BHA Daily Clean Toner promises to prevent all my skin problems–blackheads, whiteheads–and more. It also claims to be able to repair and rejuvenate the skin. Pretty nice, if you ask me. My expectations weren’t really high since this was just a random find, plus I view toners simply as a prepping step before I get into my heavy-duty products. I only have three conditions: It doesn’t make me break out. It doesn’t make me oily. It can be combined with my other skincare products. So, how did this AHA & BHA Daily Clean Toner fare? 💋💋💋💋 4 out of 5 kisses! It’s good enough for daily use (ha!) since it fulfilled pretty much all of my conditions. What I loved the most about this product was how lightweight and gentle it was on my skin. In fact, I had a hard time taking a swatch photo because it almost has the same consistency as plain water. Since it was lightweight, it got absorbed quickly, which meant I could use it in the morning too. In fact, Mizon actually advertises this toner to be used twice a day, for both your AM and PM skincare routine. That’s how gentle it is to the skin. That said, I didn’t really feel like it wasn’t really HG material so after finishing the bottle I chose not to repurchase. Not that there’s anything wrong with it, it’s just that I was still getting the same problems as before. It did help me a bit with the blackheads but I felt like I was better off looking for something else. If you’re interested in this product, you can check it out here on Cherie for only $15.86. The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution
Hello Hello ✨ This is my first impressions of The Ordinary’s AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution and I have to say I was a bit intimidated!!!! I’ll admit... ordered this product because of the hype and the cool blood look! But I also did a lot of research on it and read hundreds of reviews giving warnings and feedback about the product. Initially, when I first put it on it went really smoothly and I had little to no tingling. After two minutes of applying that’s when I started to tingle on my cheek area but it wasn’t uncomfortable or unbearable. I only left the peeling solution on for eight minutes because it is my first time using it and it says not to use it for no more than 10 minutes. I rinsed off with warm water and my skin was SMOOTH AS HELL!!!! Before I use the peeling solution, I use the Squalane Cleanser The Ordinary - Squalane Cleanser from the ordinary as well because I didn’t want to use a really harsh cleanser before I did a very Intensive peel for the first time. The video I showed of my skin without the peel on it is directly after me rinsing it off with no product. My skin was smooth to the touch with no irritation or redness. Even though this is my first time using the product, I will try again in about a week to see if I get any different results. My goal for this product is to reduce the texture of my skin as well as hopefully evening out my skin tone and reducing hyperpigmentation. I will be posting the full routine that I used right after this for those of you who are curious! If you have any suggestions or questions please hmu 🥰

AHA/BHA breakdown!
AHA/BHA breakdown!
People always ask me how I know so much about products and ingredients related to skincare and it’s all thanks to the internet (duh)! I’m a visual learner so when I see graphs and charts and colors, it sticks in my head! Here is one of my fav graphs that helped me learn some important information on AHAs and BHAs. Most people assume that their skin type doesn’t work well with AHAs and BHAs, but the truth is that most skin types can benefit from such products! Do you have a favorite AHA or BHA product? My fav product is the infamous peeling solution which has a mixture of both The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution
