So are pimple patches necessarily effective? ✨
So are pimple patches necessarily effective? ✨
Firstly, I want to give a huge thank you to Hero Cosmetics for sending me their entire acne line as a giveaway prize ✨ I have used their original, invisible, and surface patches in the past and loved them. Pimple patches are stickers made of hydrocolloid (a moisture absorbing dressing). These stickers adhere to the face to dry out the pimples as well as provide protection from picking, external bacteria, and sunlight to speed up the healing the process. They also sometimes include acne fighting ingredients to help with the process. Is it good for all acne? It’s very important to realize what kind of acne is good for patches and what isn’t. Pimple patches (this is coming from research and personal experience) are meant for superficial acne. These are pustules (blemishes containing pus), blackheads, and whiteheads. When it comes to cystic acne or what I call “underground” pimples the patch simply doesn’t penetrate enough to be effective. So they are 100% effective? Not always. The pimple really needs to have some kind of liquid for the patch the soak up (aka it’s main purpose). But that doesn’t mean they aren’t worth it or effective. I personally use pimple patches for protection the majority of the time. Especially with maskne being so prevalent it will create a barrier between your mask and the acne so bacteria isn’t being introduced. How do I use them? First, I cleanse my face. Then I will dry off just the area I’m adhering the patch to. Sometimes I will add salicylic acid to the pimple depending on the situation. Then I apply the patch before I do any other skincare. I do this because I don’t want moisture getting trapped under the patch. Then I go in with the rest of my skincare. I usually leave the patches on for no more than 24 hours. I also have a friend who puts them on before she does her make up for work. We wear a mask all day so you don’t see them until she takes her mask off. It creates a barrier keeping the make up and mask bacteria out. My favorite patches to use are the HERO COSMETICS - Mighty Patch Original for Madewell and HERO COSMETICS - Mighty Patch Invisible+ for Madewell . I’ve also used the Truly Beauty ones in the past and while I like them they don’t blend into the skin like the Mighty Patch does. They also don’t stick as well as the Mighty Patch. The original does a pretty good job at blending into my skin but the invisible is the way to go if you’re going to be out in public with it on. I’ve also used the HERO COSMETICS - Mighty Patch Surface for Madewell in the past and while it has the same power as the original and invisible it was quite painful to take off (while the other ones are not). So long story short yes, I do think pimple patches are effective if you go into it knowing what they can and can’t do. They can be amazing tools to help heal blemishes but they aren’t a miracle worker.

Hero Cosmetics... Hormonal Acne.. Bruh Girl
Hero Cosmetics... Hormonal Acne.. Bruh Girl
Disclaimer I am not a professional or influencer and anything but a 29 Year Old Bruhh Girl with a skincare addiction and battle with Sh***y skin for my entire life!!! I recently moved from NY to FL about 7 months ago and my skin did not agree with the change, or I have just entered into a new phase... I’m thinking Hormonal Acne but I have not been seen by any professionals... Since Aug 2020 I have been on the hunt like seriously I’ve been hunting down the elite skincare routine for my skin!!! Yes I spent way too much money on legit every TikTok trend my boyfriend every week would be like “let me guess TikTok made u buy it” but all in all he supports the chase since he knows how much it means to me to have that glowing smooth skin... Also I should add I’m an extreme picker like it’s terrible I hope you’ve enjoyed this rant... let me know if you’d like to see more products I’ve purchased ❤️ #Hero Cosmetics - Clear Collective Trio[products]#[FiveStars] This stuff is just pure magic, it’s affordable $35 for the set, a little goes a long way, packaging is beautiful, and just works so well. I’ve been using this set AM / PM for the last 7 days and I can already set see such a difference 😍 I finally feel like I have found a simple and affordable line of products that just do the job! The only thing I didn’t love at first was that all of the products have absolutely no scent, and the cream felt a little thick but you seriously only need a pea size for full face! HERO COSMETICS - Mighty Patch Original for Madewell These are life savers, and the 24 pack is only $8, like I’ve mentioned I’m a picker! I’ve been really forcing myself to remember to use these first signs of a pimple and whelp they never disappoint. Plus it’s kinda satisfying waking up seeing that they worked and peeling off the patch and no longer having a painful bump 🙌🏻🙌🏻 HERO COSMETICS - Lightening Wand I purchased the travel size of this product to give it a try, since I am a picker often my post pimple healing phase can last weeks of redness / scabs ... this has deff been helping with the redness and healing period but after some reading I think I will be giving the Rescue Balm a try. The lighting wand is easy to use but the travel is $10 and full size $20, and the Rescue Balm is $13, personally I feel like this may be more useful for post acne scars rather than healing process.

Tranexamic Acid 101: a 2021 must!
Tranexamic Acid 101: a 2021 must!
Tranexamic acid has rapidly become one of my favorite ingredients in skincare. Ever since I laid my hands on the naturium tranexamic acid, the first product I tried contains this ingredient I have been OBSESSED as an acne prone, dark spot prone oily skin person. What does it do? And why do YOU need it? Tranexamic acid has great anti inflammatory purposes, great for soothing the skin and protecting the moisture barrier, furthermore it inhibits tyrosinase synthesis in melanocytes and keratinocytes therefore stopping the transfer of pigment in the skin which essentially causes dark spots to form. In recent studies it also has been shown to have brightening effects on UV induced hyperpigmentation and sun damage including melisma so it’s easy to see why I love this ingredient so much! Wait it’s an acid! Does that mean it exfoliates? No. Just because something is an acid it doesn’t necessarily mean it works like Salicylic acid or Lactic and Glycolic acid. The acid part only refers to its ph and nothing more. Tranexamic acid much like Hyaluronic acid or Azelaic acid and Ascorbic Acid will not exfoliate your skin and has completely different effects on your skin compared to AHAs and BHAs. That’s good news! It can be used everyday either morning or night without having to worry about irritation or overexfoliation. NATURIUM - Tranexamic Topical Acid 5% This consistency is just gorgeous and the price very affordable. Feels amazing on the skin this serum is pairs with hydrating ingredients such as glycerins and humectants and HA. It also has other actives like niacinamide kojic acid and licorice root extract to further amp up the dark spot fighting effects of this serum! Naturium has launched just this year but already has become one of my favorite brands! THE inkey LIST - Tranexamic Acid Hyperpigmentation Treatment Even tho it’s called a night treatment I prefer to use it in the morning. Anyways the consistency is actually quite gelly and hydrating as it contains HA, Lactobacillus ferment, and vitamin c (ascorbyl glycoside) a great way to add a further step of hydrating in my routine while also tackling hyperpigmentation. HERO COSMETICS - Lightening Wand This has been my GO TO spot treatment ever since it arrived to me in PR. I’ve already finished two bottles just to give you an idea of how good it is haha. This spot serum has niacinamide vitmain c tranexamic acid and licorice root extract so basically combining all the ingredients in both the naturium and the inkey list serums. Furthermore the mental ball applicator makes it a very sanitized and boujee cooling way to apply it which I just love!

Things that helped me with acne 🪵
Things that helped me with acne 🪵
The Cosrx aha and bha toner helped me with exfoliating and letting products absorb better. The CeraVe Resurfacing Retinol helped with my hyperpigmentation and pores. My current favorite Differin Gel is helping me with my dark spots and acne. The Hero Cosmetics Lightning Wand is helping me fade my dark spots and hyperpigmentation. I have used the Netrogena Benzoyle Peroxide for so long and it’s helped me control my acne. And lastly The Inky List bha serum helped me with my black and white heads.

Exfoliation 101
Exfoliation 101
Let’s chat about exfoliation and how often you should when it comes to your face 🧖🏾‍♀️ • When in doubt 1 to 2 times a week is the best way to go, however it depends on the formulation of an exfoliating product 👏🏽 • In between those days of exfoliation my go to is keeping my skin hydrated, moisturized and can’t hurt to add in some calming/soothing ingredients 😈 • If you aren’t sure how often to use a product I’d definitely check out the instructions on the box of message the company 😊 • What product are you using to exfoliate with currently? And how often are you using it? 👀 • Would you like to see a winter body care routine chart and video? ❄️ • I’ve been using the HERO COSMETICS - Lightening Wand * to exfoliate with and #Paula’s Choice - 8% AHA + 2% Hydroquinone[products]#[FourStars] on my face 😏 • *this product was kindly gifted to me by Hero Cosmetics, all opinions are my own and I have an affiliate code in my bio if you’d like to use it

End of Day 8, Before Routine
End of Day 8, Before Routine
Hey guys! Sorry I haven't posted in a few days, I've been caught up with work but still continuing my routine. These pictures were taken before washing my face today just to see if there's been any improvement. So far I've noticed my acne isn't the main issue today, it's the red spots. I have a few pimples here and there compared to how it was at the beginning of this week. I am still waiting to receive my products from Hero Cosmetics, and I am looking forward to trying out the HERO COSMETICS - Micropoint for Blemishes, HERO COSMETICS - Rescue Balm, and the HERO COSMETICS - Lightening Wandthe most! I will keep you guys updated and thank you for being here with me on my journey to healthier skin (:
