Highlights
What Else You Need to KnowThis serum’s just-got-back-from-somewhere-sunny glow flatters every complexion—without the long-term consequences of sun exposure. A blend of oils and vitamin F balances the skin’s healthy barrier, polyphenols and platinum peptides strengthen the skin, and a chronopeptide mimics vitamin D’s antioxidant benefits. This serum is free of essential oils, silicones, and fragrance. Drunk Elephant is committed to using only ingredients that either directly benefit the health of the skin or support the integrity of their formulations. The brand focuses on healthy pH levels, formulations the skin recognizes, small molecular structure that’s easily absorbed, and effective active ingredients that also support the skin’s acid mantle. All of their products are designed to be mixed together—what Drunk Elephant calls making a smoothie. (This is true for all of their products except their sunscreen, Umbra, which sits on top of the skin, protecting it from UV damage.) The result is skin that is reset to its happiest, healthiest state. Drunk Elephant is a supporter of IEF (International Elephant Foundation) and is cruelty-free.

Skincare Trends of 2020: Yass 👍 or Pass 👎?
Skincare Trends of 2020: Yass 👍 or Pass 👎?
Hey there! There have been numerous skincare trends that have been going viral this year. Although just because it’s trendy, doesn’t mean it’s effective. ☆ ANTI-POLLUTION If you live in a city, you’re likely exposed to all types of pollution such as free radicals, UV exhaust fumes and even blue light screens are part of the problem (source: HuffPost). I live in San Francisco, CA and definitely deal with the issues mentioned above especially pre-covid. Studies have shown that those who live in larger cities age faster than their suburban counterparts and there is a correlation between air pollution and suffering from skin problems. DE’s D-bronzi and c-firma claim to fight against these issues. •C-Firma contains 15% l-absorbing acid and 1% Vitamin E which create a hardworking complex that help neutralize pollution and environmental stressors (source: byrdie). This product is one of my HG and I use this religiously. I have seen improvements regarding scars and hyperpigmentation and I think the anti-pollution effect is just a bonus •D-Bronzi contains raw cocoa powder which mimic the antioxidant benefits of vitamin D without the damaging effects of UV rays. I am not convinced this will do more than your typical tinted moisturizer with skincare ingredients. However I do love this product especially during the summer time. This also help me darken my foundation needed. • I love how my favorite skincare products contain anti-pollution protection, but I’m not convinced simply because there hasn’t been enough research. I wouldn’t go out of my way to buy products specifically for anti-pollution purposes. ☆ANTI BLUE LIGHT •My tinted sunscreen from Elta MD contains ingredients that can potentially protect the skin from blue light damage. •I honestly don’t agree with the anti- blue light hype. Research show that dermatologists are not fully convinced that blue light protection products will do more than a mineral sunscreen with a strong dose of iron oxide. ☆ NIACINAMIDE + HYALURONIC ACID •Both of elta and supergoop sunscreens I own contain Niacinamide and hyaluronic acid. •HA has been proven to plump, moisturize the skin and niacinamide has a ton of benefits to the skin. It strengthens the skin’s barrier allowing it to hold moisture better for prolong hydration •I am on board with the HA and niacinamide trend. Research shows that both of these ingredients are beneficial to the skin. Long story short, I am not on board with anti-pollution and anti- blue light skincare products simply because not enough research has been done. However, skincare products that contain hyaluronic acid and niacinamide is a different story! I believe those two ingredients are definitely worth the hype! If you made it this far, congratulations because I know that was a lot. Thank you for reading :) Francesca 💋 #CheriePartner

Brand Spotlight: Drunk Elephant 🐘
Brand Spotlight: Drunk Elephant 🐘
Brand Spotlight: Drunk Elephant Drunk Elephant. You may know her, you may love her, you may hate her. I discovered this brand in 2018 by perusing the Sephora bestsellers page and reading reviews on Protini Peptide Cream. I bought it because I was desperate and it actually worked so obviously I assumed the entire line would work for me and be a godsend...flash forward to now. If you go back through my profile you will find reviews of Lippe, Lala, Slaai, and Beste, so I won’t be highlighting them here. Products I’ll be reviewing: B-Hydra Hydration Serum D-Bronzi Anti-Pollution Drops Protini Polypeptide Cream The good, the bad, and the ugly: THE UGLY: DRUNK ELEPHANT - B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum Honestly when I first started using this serum it was my first Hyaluronic acid serum I ever used. I mixed it into my morning “smoothie” of Protini and D-Bronzi and slathered it all over. Even though I felt a difference in my skin while using it, I’m not sure I can solely credit this product for doing so. It contains a high content of niacinamide that actually helps to stop oil/sebum production in your skin. The texture is lightweight yet sticky if not used in a DE “smoothie.” I ended up swapping B-Hydra out of my routine and swapping in the Ordinary’s Hyaluronic acid 2% + B5 serum and saw an instant improvement in the hydration levels in my skin. So while I believe B-Hydra did SOMETHING, $52 for something that a $7 product does better is an all around scam. I said what I said! THE BAD: DRUNK ELEPHANT - Protini Polypeptide Cream Honesty is the best policy... Protini is very hit or miss for me. It’s a TOTAL HIT when I mix it with a facial oil or my skin is more likely to produce oils like the summertime. When I started using Protini into the cold winter months, my GOD I broke out so badly. Didn’t change my routine at all. Just swapped out Protini for Lala and my skin healed up in a week and stayed clear. I also notice an increase in facial hair when I use Protini which doesn’t bother me so much as it just causes an inconvenience. The texture itself is super light but it feels really hydrating when mixed with an oil. It also smells like yeast so that’s a bit off putting. It is great for the summer for me but in the winter it’s a flop. THE GOOD!! (Omg finally): DRUNK ELEPHANT - D-Bronzi Anti-Pollution Sunshine Drops D-Bronzi: wow when I first heard of this I thought it was an instant scam. I started using this product as a mix in to my morning “smoothie” or my super white SPF formulas. The difference I notice when this is in my routine is night and day. In the winter I’m too pale to add this in but in the summer it’s like, INSTANT GLOW! & the air pollution in my area is so bad there is a real noticeable difference in my skin tone when I use this. I’m not sure if it would help those who don’t suffer from bad air pollution though! Have you tried anything from Drunk Elephant? Any faves? Any hates?

A self tanner is a product that contains a color additive, usually Dihydroxyacetone, aka DHA, an ingredient that reacts with your skin to turn it darker. Because of the nature of the product, you can’t wash off the tan. The color will usually last for about a week, depending on how much you sweat and shower, and if you moisturize. A bronzer is a product designed to give you a bronze glow, but it does not “tan” your skin and the color is only temporary. It’s just a layer of color, like make up, that you can apply to your face and body that can wash off.

If you’re looking to have a good skin day with no make up this will be your best friend. If your you find your foundation is too light this is also the perfect solution!! First off, this product has lasted me sooooooo long. I’ve had it for at least a year and a half and it’s no where close to running out. I don’t use it ever day mind you but you only need the tiniest amount. You just blend it with your favourite moisturizer to give your face some colour! And you have full control over how much bronze colour you add which is awesome for girls who have really pale skin in the winter and tan in the summer. For me, this product gives my skin that finished look like I put make up on and gives my face just the right amount of colour and healthy glow without sticking out like something that’s not blended properly. It blends so smooth because it’s going on with your moisturizer. ( I use really light moisturizers with this so it is super easy to mix together such as DRUNK ELEPHANT - Protini Polypeptide Cream or THE BODY SHOP - Seaweed Mattifying Day Cream ) AND to top it all off - it works as an anti pollution product with potent antioxidants and omega fatty acids to protect your skin from all the junk it comes into contact with throughout the day I’ve seems some bad reviews for this product. And I would really like to stress that I think I absolutely needs to be blended with a moisturizer and the type of moisturizer you use definitely makes a difference! One case where this product might not seem worthwhile is if you’re using self tanner on your face and already giving it that coloured glow that won’t wash off at the beach or anything... but even then I would still use it! I definitely recommend trying this one out DRUNK ELEPHANT - D-Bronzi Anti-Pollution Sunshine Drops

My Favorite Sun Protection Smoothie ✨
My Favorite Sun Protection Smoothie ✨
My favorite Sun protection mix! ☀️💛 . Umbra Sheer™ + D-Bronzi™ . I recently got Umbra Sheer™ sunscreen and I was really worried that it wouldn’t work well for me because of my tan complexion, so I grabbed my D-Bronzi™ and mix them until I see the right tone that I want! . The sunscreen isn’t heavy and sticky if you put on the right amount. The D-Bronzi™ has the most diverse color IMO, it will give you a sunshiny healthy glow, plus it is formulated with a barrier-supportive fatty acids, vitamins, antioxidants and platinum peptides perfect for a city dweller like me who is always expose to pollution and environmental stressors 🙌🏻

Drunk Elephant D-Bronzi Anti-P
Drunk Elephant D-Bronzi Anti-Pollution Sunshine Drops. Drunk Elephant is one of my favorite brands. I was skeptical when I saw D-Bronzi launch as it seemed like something totally not for me. I’m not a big fan of bronzer anymore. This “bronzer” seemed unique enough to warrant trying it, plus it’s Drunk Elephant. D-Bronzi comes packaged in an airless plastic pump tube. I love the cool bronze details on this packaging. D-Bronzi is a concentrated shimmering bronze pigment/serum/liquid. It’s not meant to be used alone. Mix it with foundation, primer or moisturizer for an easy bronze summer glow. The color of this bronzer is more neutral versus orange bronze which I prefer. I need less than one pump for my face. I like to mix it with foundation mostly to add a hint of glow and warmth. I wouldn’t recommend mixing it with sunscreen as sunscreen is designed to be used in it’s full concentration. Diluting it could lead to improper coverage and less sun protection. I love the idea that this is a bronzer with skincare benefits. It’s got antioxidants cocoa, white tea & vitamin E. Vitamin F, marula & black currant oil hydrate & nourish. The platinum peptides & chronocyclin are interesting. While D-Bronzi touts skincare benefits I use such a small amount of it (1/3-1/2 pump on average) I don’t know that I really get all that many extra skincare benefits from that small occasional amount (I don’t use this everyday). I really think of this more as a cosmetic or makeup item like liquid bronzer than skincare. I’ve barely made a dent in my tube since it launched. I like this to warm up a foundation. It can make that too pale winter foundation summer appropriate. So if you like bronzer and want a natural shimmering glow (no glitter) you can cutomize, with the potential of some added skincare benefits than this might be for you!
