A quick Cheat guide to choosing the right Acid ✨
I find this Flowchart to be a cheat guide to start with your Chemical exfoliation routin. 😊✨ Exfoliation is one of the steps in your skin care routine that can elevate your current routine from good to great. So often I find my skin starting to feel a little bit dull, and I realize that I have been leaving out exfoliation. When I wake up after a night that I have applied a chemical exfoliant, (I really like The Ordinary’s 7% Glycolic Acid, Sunday Riley's Good Genes) The Ordinary - Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution SUNDAY RILEY - Good Genes All in One Lactic Acid Treatment I notice my skin has a much more rested and fresh look. Also, my skin has that 'Glass skin' look and feel. My textural irregularities get even and my skin tone is evened out! Some of the skin concerns that exfoliation is great for targeting include: 🌻Enlarged pores 🌻Uneven skin tone/Hyperpigmentation 🌻Rough skin texture 🌻Fine lines So… back to the big question: ✨What does exfoliate mean? Skin is consistently renewing its cells, by shedding its surface layer. When dead skin cells are flushed away and a fresh layer of cells comes to the surface, the new layer is younger and smoother in appearance. This process is frequent in younger skin, however slows with age. The process of exfoliating is advancing the process of removing dead skin cells and revealing the fresh new layer of healthy skin either physically or chemically. Physical exfoliators are granular, using natural beads or crystals that are rubbed on the skin, sloughing away the dead cells on the top layer of skin. Chemical exfoliants work by targeting the bonds between cells, breaking these bonds, allowing the dead skin cells to break away. Chemical exfoliation is able to penetrate deeper into the skin, targeting congestion that is associated with clogged pores leading to acne. In short exfoliation simply means to shed away dead skin cells with the help of a product. Want to know which exfoliating acids are best for your skin? Follow through the flowchart in Image above to figure out which is best for you! Exfoliating Acids x DermDoctor
Exfoliating acids are an amazing addition to your skincare routine! They have multiple benefits including improving skin texture, tone, and uneven pigment. They also have anti-aging benefits and can minimize the appearance of wrinkles! Exfoliating acids should be used no more than 2x per week with leave on products. Face washes with acids can be used more often. Here’s my rules to the roads (there’s always exceptions, of course) and product picks: Glycolic acid: Most effective but can be irritating with sensitive skin or those who are prone to post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation DRUNK ELEPHANT - T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Resurfacing Night Serum The Ordinary - Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution Salicylic acid: Best for oily, acne-prone skin NATURIUM - BHA Liquid Exfoliant 2% THE inkey LIST - Beta Hydroxy Acid (BHA) Blemish + Blackhead Serum Lactic acid: Best for dry and combination skin. Exfoliates while hydrating, gentle on the skin, and my personal go-to! SUNDAY RILEY - Good Genes All in One Lactic Acid Treatment The Ordinary - Lactic Acid 5% + HA Mandelic acid: Most gentle exfoliating acid. Best for sensitive skin and those prone to post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation The Ordinary - Mandelic Acid 10% + HA #cheriepartner

Stubborn Blackheads GONE
Quarantine hit my skin hard!!! My estitician had me so spoiled, I was going to her once a week for a express facial. I was doing monthly microneedling. So I barely did any routines at home. Just a wash and go. My skin looked amazing!!! Later on I got pregnant and couldn't do microneedling anymore but my skin still looked good despite that and the pregnancy related melasma. ***I posted a picture of my skin prebaby and precovid where I was basically doing nothing at home just getting facials and microneedling. Then Covid hit, everything closed and I was left to handle my skin on my own. I don't think it would have been so bad if I didn't have to wear a mask all the time. I started breaking out and my pores were getting clogged. I had always had a few blackheads here n there but this was terrible!!! To fix this I started double cleansing at night with BANILA CO - Clean It Zero Cleansing Balm Nourishing and NATURIUM - Mixed Greens Nutrient-Rich Cleanser but what I think really helped was incorporating NATURIUM - BHA Liquid Exfoliant 2% into my morning routine. I worked up to using it everyday. But recently I backed off to 2-3 times a week because I added retinol and I started using the DRUNK ELEPHANT - T.L.C. Sukari Babyfacial Mask once a week. Another product that I only use 2x a week in my night routine and just in my T Zone is Bioré - Pore Unclogging Scrub OMG I don't know what is in this but this literally removes some of my blackheads. After using this I can see the difference immediately!!!! This scrub contains salcytic acid in it so if I'm using it I double cleanse with my Kate Somerville - DeliKate Soothing Cleanser and not my Naturium mixed greens because that cleanser contains SA as well. I use this Biore product in the shower to utilize the steam, I take hot showers...I'm not willing to change that yet :(, the steam opens up my pores. I also will squeeze my nose right after I get out of the hot shower that also helps to clear the blackheads out. Hopefully I can get back to the facials and microneedling but for now I feel most comfortable managing from home. Let me know what helped you clear your blackheads.

AHA + BHA = Glowing skin favorites for Fall
This combination will give you the best looking skin!! I'm always a fan of AHAs especially Glycolic acid as it is a smaller molecular size that goes deeper into the skin layers and BHAs AKA Salicylic acid which is an oil soluble chemical exfoliant which decongests pores by going deeper into them. This duo will help your skin with any textural irregularities as well as cogestions further forming acne. These are my current favorite picks for both AHA and BHA. I have been using this Glycolic acid 7% toning solution from @theordinary for months and this 2% BHA liquid exfoliant is added to my skincare recently but I love this combination. Yes, you can use these two together in your skincare but keep in mind that it might be irritating and overly stripping for some people especially sensitive skin types. I have experience in using these so my skin can tolerate them together. 🍁This helps in : - Getting rid of textural irregularities - Getting rid of small bumps and acne - Controlling excessive sebum/oil production - Fading any tyoe of hyperpigmentation - Evening out skin tone and getting rid of dullness - Brightening complexion - Smoothening surface of the skin 🍁The Ordinary Glycolic acid toner has:The Ordinary - Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution -seven percent glycolic acid, amino acids, aloe vera, ginseng, and tasmanian pepperberry. 🍁 Naturium 2% BHA liquid exfoliant has:NATURIUM - BHA Liquid Exfoliant 2% - two percent Salicylic Acid, Sodium Polyacrylate, Citric Acid, Glycerin, Diglycerin, Citrus Glauca Fruit Extract, Microcitrus Australasica Fruit Extract, Microcitrus Australis Fruit Extract Remember: This combination may cause your dryness and flakey patches, if it occurs make sure you moisturize skin with some thick occlusive creams and before locking that moisture use hydrating products. Let me know if you have any questions ❤️

✔️Results! Let's get rid of Hyperpigmentation! ✨
If you know me for my Acne journey, you know I managed to leave my hormonal acne at bay. For few weeks I've been focusing on my Acne scars (dark spots) or Hyperpigmentation. For my Indian/brown skin it is inevitable to take care of my Post inflammatory Hyperpigmentation as it tends to get worse with time and sun exposure. The key to start with gettind rid of hyperpigmentation is Sunscreen. Mostly an SPF 30+. It is very important to calm those Melanocytes (cells that produce Melanin) and stop/reduce inter-cell transfer of melanin once it's produced. ✨This can be done with the help of these ingredients : 1. Niacinamide - Brightens skin, reduces Inter-transfer of melanin, Calms melanocytes 2. Alpha Arbutin - Brightening agent, stops excessive melanin production 3. L-Ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) - Brightens and lightens dark spots 4. Azelaic acid - Brightens, gently exfoliates and calms Melanocytes 5. AHAs and Retinol - Increase cell turnover and exfoliate skin for brightening of hyperpigmentation. These all are my current favorites and are absolutely effective. Their formulation is so good I have been able to enjoy using them. ✨AM routine : 1. PAULA'S CHOICE - Pore-Reducing Toner 2. ( I use this to prevent further breakouts, and I experienced slight brightening with this as well) NATURIUM - BHA Liquid Exfoliant 2% 3. @naturium Alpha Arbutin 1% essence NATURIUM - Alpha Arbutin Essence 1% 4. @naturium Super serum plus on alternate days NATURIUM - Vitamin C Super Serum Plus 5. @naturium Azelaic acid 10% serum NATURIUM - Azelaic Topical Acid 10% 6.NATURIUM - Alpha Arbutin Serum 2% 7. @leegeehaam Royal Propolis vitam amploule 8. @sundayriley Tidal enzyme water cream ( This has Alpha arbutin and some other brightening ingredients) SUNDAY RILEY - Tidal Brightening Enzyme Water Cream I mix @cosmedix L-Ascorbic acid powder COSMEDIX - Pure Mixing Crystals Vitamin C Powder with this cream and apply. It works amazing!! Or @sundayriley C.E.O vitamin C rich cream SUNDAY RILEY - C.E.O. Vitamin C Rich Hydration Cream 9. @tula protect +glow SPF 30 TULA SKINCARE - Daily Sunscreen Gel Broad Spectrum SPF 30 10. (When I'm heading out) Supergoop! - Unseen Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 40 ✨ PM routine : 1. @naturium BHA toner 2. @naturium Alpha arbutin 1% essence 3. @naturium Alpha arbutin 2% serum 4. @curology Formula (This has Azelaic acid 8% and Niacinamide 4%) Curology - Curology formula 5. @sundayriley A+ Retinol serum (Two-three nights per week) SUNDAY RILEY - A+ High-Dose Retinol Serum 6. Blackheads and Bumpy texture who?? 😍✨
This post is for anyone who wants to get rid of blackheads and textural irregularities!! Quickly dropping these two Ingredients today for anyone who has Blackheads and Rough, bumpy texture - Azelaic acid and Salicylic acid (Beta Hydroxy Acid AKA BHA) 😍 Since the start of my skincare journey I had these two issues along with hyperpigmentation, a lot of dead skin and clogged pores! I look at these two as my 'Skin Reviving Ingredients' ☺️✨ They truly get rid of any skin texture you have and will give you that glass skin! Also anybody who has blackheads or excessive oily skin that cause clogged pores, sebaceous filaments you should use this powerful combination of Ingredients. Both Azelaic acid and Salicylic acid do different things but they on one ground take care of skin texture, clogged pores and oily skin. I find the combination of these two quite gentle and not so irritating. But when incorporating these two together you always should take a patch test. I use @naturium Azelaic topical acid 10% NATURIUM - Azelaic Topical Acid 10% and @naturium BHA liquid exfoliant 2% NATURIUM - BHA Liquid Exfoliant 2% I really like these two, they both have a great formula. BHA is that slippery liquid, a water toner which doesn't make your skin oily. Azelaic acid is a clear slightly thick consistency which is thin and gets absorbed in skin quickly. ✨HOW I USE THESE: I use both of these products in the morning. -After my shower, I prep my skin with @paulaschoice Pore reducing toner PAULA'S CHOICE - Pore-Reducing Toner - Then apply @naturium BHA liquid exfoliation NATURIUM - BHA Liquid Exfoliant 2% - Then I layer @naturium Azelaic acid NATURIUM - Azelaic Topical Acid 10% - Apply moisturizer (Currently I'm using @herbivore Pink Cloud moisturizer) HERBIVORE - PINK CLOUD Rosewater Moisture Creme - Lastly Sunscreen. I use @tula Daily SPF 30 TULA SKINCARE - Daily Sunscreen Gel Broad Spectrum SPF 30 This routine has given me a really soft, smooth skin. It helps in keeping my blackheads at bay as well as these both (Azelaic acid + BHA) helps with my Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation / Dark spots!
