Dermatologist tips on pores!
FACTS ABOUT PORES: Pore size is affected by: ✔️ Age ✔️ Sun exposure overtime ✔️ Genetics ✔️ Skin type For these reasons, it is not possible to shrink pores, but these products can help minimize the appearance of pores (I listed different options to choose from in each category. One from each category is all that would be needed): 1. Sunscreen ✔️ SPF 30 or higher in the morning, reapply every 2 hours (can use setting powder to reapply!) CeraVe - Face Sheer Tint Hydrating Sunscreen SPF 30 LA ROCHE-POSAY - Anthelios Ultra Fluid Face Lotion SPF 50+ Supergoop! - 100% Mineral Invincible Setting Powder SPF 45 2. Salicylic acid cleanser ✔️ Once a day ✔️ Treatment for acne CeraVe - Salicylic Acid Facial Cleanser THE inkey LIST - Salicylic Acid Acne + Pore Cleanser 3. Retinoids/retinol ✔️ Takes ~12 weeks to see an effect ✔️ Treatment for acne ❗️Acne may get worse before it gets better ❗️Only at night, must wear sunscreen during the day ❌ Avoid in pregnancy and breastfeeding DIFFERIN - 0.1% Adapalene Acne Treatment Gel Pump LA ROCHE-POSAY - Effaclar Adapalene Gel .01% Topical Retinoid Acne Treatment ❗️Sensitive skin may not be able to use salicylic acid cleanser and retinol/retinoid together at night (may be too irritating) ✔️ For sensitive skin: can consider salicylic acid cleanser in the morning & retinol/retinoid at night It can take weeks to months to start noticing a difference, patience is 🔑 What works to help decrease the appearance of your pores? 10 week progress pic :))
Just posting this as a little reminder to myself that my skin will have its ups and downs, I just gotta be patient :)) About 2.5 months ago I got this weird pile of breakouts on my cheeks and I felt SO bad about myself, and now it’s still not completely cleared and I’m dealing with quite a few acne scars but I still need to appreciate my progress! Here’s my stuff in case it helps whoo CeraVe - Salicylic Acid Facial Cleanser mild, gentle, does the trick. I use this evenings! ma:nyo Cleansing Soda Foam: 5 stars bit of an obscure brand but I use this mornings and sometimes evenings and it feels great, my face feels super clean but not stripped or dry HADALABO - Rohto Hadalabo Gokujun Hyaluronic Lotion Moist a lovely light toner! Full of hyaluronic acid, dries really nice on my face LOL The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 pretty staple serum, I may try one that’s more sophisticated LOL but this one is still great The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% still on the hunt for a better niacinimide product for my skin type since this doesn’t absorb super well, but I use this nights and only on my problem areas and it works pretty good Mad Hippie - Vitamin C Serum just starting on this and only using it nights but it absorbs well!! Hopefully doesn’t cause breakouts LOL since new products were the cause of my last pimple saga ETUDE - Soonjung Hydro Barrier Cream I really like this! Wonderful basic cream, very affordable. I’ve thought about switching to other more hyped moisturizers but this works so well already that I always just stick with it PURITO - Centella Green Level Unscented Sun SPF50+ I admit, I almost never used sunscreen until I got this. . . but this is super light, never greasy, absorbs in a minute tops, and does the job! Happy holidays and this is just a reminder that you’re awesome no matter what ur skin is deciding to do at the moment. That’s something I wish I remembered more often :))

how I got rid of a (bad) BREAKOUT
I experienced a really bad breakout (for me at least because I am thankful enough to never really breakout), from a reaction to a product. as you can see in the first pics, I had small pimples and bumps all over my forehand, cheeks and jawline areas. products I used that I believe helped my skin: PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliator this is a holy grail and always a repurchase for me! it is comprised of salicylic acid, green tea and sodium hydroxide. these are the main ingredients! it’s super SUPER gentle on my skin and I see noticeable results whenever I use it. helped my texture, redness and pimples! CeraVe - Salicylic Acid Facial Cleanser this cleanser is perfect for acne prone, oily skin and this is now my all time favourite cleanser !! this is also super gentle and doesn’t strip my skin afterwards. I love how much it foams and it’s such an effective yet affordable cleanser. helped my overall skin texture and aided my breakouts. peach slices - Snail Rescue Intensive Wash-Off Mask has 95% snail mucin which is one of the most celebrated K-beauty ingredients for powerful yet gentle results! it also has centella asiatica extract and hyaluronic acid. this mask really helped with my dark spots on my face and skin texture. peach slices - Snail Rescue Blemish Busting Toner this basically has the same ingredients and results as the snail rescue mask. I use this every day morning and night and now I can’t live without it! MARIO BADESCU - Mario Badescu Drying Lotion uses salicylic acid, calamine and sulfur to help dry up my pimples overnight. this is a go to for me and I use it every night where I have pimples on my face. they normally always go away overnight!! Neutrogena - Rapid Clear Stubborn Acne Spot Gel I got this product due to my breakouts and I really like it ! however, it is really strong and you only need a small amount. the only problem with this is that with me using it quite frequently, as it is directed, it dried out my skin in those areas and made it really dry and flake. I will say that the pimples went away. I like this one for the day time as the drying lotion is pink and I don’t really want to wear that out and about haha. breakouts are normal and happen for many reasons ! although this really brought down my confidence, I had to remember that it’s not as bad as I thought it was and that it would go away with time. for me, sticking to a strict skincare routine both morning and night really helps my skin !

❗️AVOID these together- Dermatologist tips
What are chemical exfoliants? - Products that work to help exfoliate the skin surface Physical exfoliants (think beaded scrubs) can be harsh to the skin, lead to uneven exfoliation, and can cause microtears. That’s why I prefer chemical exfoliation. Chemical exfoliants can be broken down into 3 main categories: 1. Retinol/retinoids Retinol= over the counter Retinoid= prescription (except for Adapalene which is over the counter- this used to be a prescription) DIFFERIN - 0.1% Adapalene Acne Treatment Gel Pump LA ROCHE-POSAY - Effaclar Adapalene Gel .01% Topical Retinoid Acne Treatment Both are: ✅anti-aging ✅can help improve acne scars ✅treatment for acne ✅increases cell turnover ✅lightens brown spots/sun spots/hyperpigmentation ✅promotes collagen production ✅helps with skin texture ✅prevents fine lines and wrinkles ✅helps with uneven skin tone 2. AHA = glycolic acid, lactic acid, or mandelic acid The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution DRUNK ELEPHANT - T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Resurfacing Night Serum DRUNK ELEPHANT - T.L.C. Sukari Babyfacial Mask ✅water soluble ✅increases cell turnover ✅lightens brown spots/hyperpigmentation ✅helps with skin texture ✅reduces fine lines ✅helps with uneven skin tone 3. BHA= salicylic acid CeraVe - Salicylic Acid Facial Cleanser PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliator The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution ✅oil soluble- so helps dissolve excess sebum and dead skin cells to help minimize the appearance of pores ✅treatment for acne ✅anti-inflammatory Important tips to keep in mind: ❗️Avoid using any of these together on the same night! These all chemically exfoliate the skin. Therefore, there is an increased risk of irritation together. ✅ Consider using these on alternating nights but not on the same night to avoid the risk of irritation ❗️Exception: Salicylic acid in a cleanser form & any of the products listed above may be okay in people WITHOUT sensitive skin. ❗️In sensitive skin and/or rosacea skin, all of the chemical exfoliants listed may be very irritating to the skin and for this reason may need to be avoided. Always ask your dermatologist first before trying. ❗️ All of these products should be used only at night. SPF 30+ during the day because these make the skin more sensitive to the sun. ❗️Retinol/retinoids: Avoid use during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Irritating at first. Tip: start slow 1-2 nights a week and gradually increase as tolerated. I listed different products to provide options in each category above. Not all of these are necessary in a skin care routine. Do you use any of these? How do you incorporate these into your skin care routine? Comment below!

Layering Guide to Acne Fighting
Heyyyyy y’all! So since I’ve been in Korea and wore a mask for 24 hours straight my chin/jaw is trying to do its own thing. Luckily your girl packed enough skincare to last her 6 mo here! My jet lag has been kicking my ass being 13 hours ahead with a 6mo old, but my skin is so important with all my progress made. When “layering” products in my opinion there is no right amount. Yet, there is a correct order. (Remember water to oil) Nights Cleanse: My favorite acne cleanser right now is the CeraVe - Salicylic Acid Facial Cleanser While it can be drying (why it’s has 4 stars) making sure to add a cleansing oil before and hydrating serum after is key! Hydrate Y’all know I’m a toner lover. So I am using the peach slices - Snail Rescue Blemish Busting Toner I recently reviewed how much I love this toner and how hydrating it is. Followed with The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 Remember to apply this damp skin. This is 🔑. Treat The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% This is a godsend for my pores. My oily t-zone has been helped a lot by this product. DIFFERIN - DIFFERIN Acne Treatment Gel I replaced this item because I prefer a retinoid over BHA for my acne type. It’s mostly hormonal but since suffering from low grade maskne it’s helped . Moisturize fresh - Lotus Anti-Aging Night Moisturizer This is my HG night moisturizer. It’s amazing. My skin feels so soft and smells so good afterwards! ELEMIS - Daily Defence Shield SPF30 Y’all know I love my Tula but this is hardcore. I wanted something that would be effective under a mask and still moisturize. When I use Tula I get a glow which I would prefer to use in a setting my glow would be “seen”. I’m making a list of k-beauty items I want to get once in our quarantine and other things! I also want input for makeup tutorials 👇🏾👇🏾

Double Cleanse for the win
Double cleansing! If you’ve dived into the world of skincare you’ve probably hear of this method of cleansing! 🧼Double cleansing is when you start by cleansing with an oil based cleanser to removed makeup/sunscreen/facial oils, and then following that up with a water based cleanser that most people are familiar with, for my water based cleanser I personally use CeraVe - Salicylic Acid Facial Cleanser because I have acne prone skin especially with having to wear a mask all day. But the first step in my skincare routine is starting with this cleansing balm from Versed! VERSED - DAY DISSOLVE Cleansing Balm This balm works perfectly to remove my makeup and sunscreen from the day without leaving my skin feeling greasy or clogged up. This balm has a beautiful scent to it without having huge amounts of fragrance in the formulation. It’s gentle enough to use on days when my skin is feeling irritated or I am having a breakout, but it gets the job done on days when I wear a full face of makeup! This is also an affordable and accessible option that I picked up at Target! And a little goes a very long way! This container has lasted over 2 months and I am only about halfway through it. ✨I recommend this product as an affordable way to introduce double cleansing into your routine! ✨
