castor oil 4 week update
This is week 4 of my eyelash and eyebrow growth with TROPIC ISLE LIVING - Jamaican Black Castor Oil . Like I said in my last post, this journey is gonna take time, but already my lashes are staying in longer and they feel super hydrated and soft! I’ve started using my homemade rosemary oil as well, since rosemary is supposedly good for hair growth! Hopefully I’ll start to see some changes soon!

2-week update: Tropic Isle Castor Oil
Please excuse my messy eyebrows! I’ve been on a multiple-year-long search to grow my lashes longer and thicker with not much luck. I’ve tried Vaseline, which did help my lashes grow a bit longer but then it stopped working, or at least I stopped trying. I then turned to some cold-pressed castor oil I got from a cheap shop. That didn’t work much. I’ve tried putting caffeine serum on my lashes and I haven’t had much luck. So now I’m putting TROPIC ISLE LIVING - Jamaican Black Castor Oil to the test. These two pictures were taken two weeks apart, with application every night. There isn’t much difference in the length, thickness, or color, but I know that these things take time. I’ve heard really great things about this brand, so I’m really going to try to stick it out for 1, maybe even 2, months to try to see some improvement. Aside from the test for growth in lash length and thickness, I think this product does a tremendous job with keeping my eyelashes healthy and moisturized. The day after my first application, I noticed how soft my lashes were when I woke up the next morning. And ever since I started using this product every night, I’ve noticed fewer lashes falling out, and I know this can contribute to the extended growth and fuller look to my lashes in the long term, so that’s great! This product doesn’t smell bad but it does remind me of burnt coffee beans, which honestly isn’t that bad of a smell. And I love that I can use this in my hair for a deep conditioning mask or for extremely dry parts of my body! While I don’t see results for length and thickness yet, I love how moisturizing the castor oil is for my lashes, and I will certainly keep updating every week from now, hopefully with positive results!

✨ nighttime skincare routine video! ✨
Someone asked me to share my skincare routine so here is a video of my nighttime routine! I usually like to shower in the evening to get the dirt and sweat from the day off my body and to ensure I am clean when my head hits the pillow. My skincare routine actually starts before I hop into the shower. I always always double cleanse, so before I hop into the shower, I remove the makeup, sunscreen, and dirt off my face with BOBBI BROWN - Soothing Face Cleanser Oil . I love this oil cleanser because it’s soothing, it melts my makeup and sunscreen off, and I can feel my dead skin flakes coming off my face. Then while I’m in my shower, I use the LA ROCHE-POSAY - Toleriane Hydrating Gentle Face Cleanser . It feels milky and gel-like for a great hydrating cleanse! As soon as I step out of the shower, I wrap my hair in a towel and get to moisturizing my body. My current body lotion is the Aveeno - Daily Moisturizing Lotion . I don’t even touch my face. It does dry up a little when I’m lathering up my body, so before I continue with the rest of my skincare routine, I splash some cold water on my face and neck so it’s prepped for my routine. Sometimes I’ll let my face air dry a bit (until it’s still slightly damp), but other times I’ll lightly remove the excess water with a face towel. Then I go in with the following products to get my nighttime glow: Toner: PAULA'S CHOICE - Pore-Reducing Toner Hydration: Curél - Moisture Facial Lotion Enrich (3 pumps) HERITAGE STORE - Vegetable Glycerin(I got min from a CVS, it’s not Heritage Store but any pure vegetable glycerin works, mix 2 drops with Curél facial lotion) The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 (can’t wait to finish this up and try out THE inkey LIST - Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Serum) Treatment: The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% Eye Cream: GLOW RECIPE - Avocado Melt Retinol Eye Sleeping Mask Moisturizer: CeraVe - PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion Lips: Aquaphor - Healing Ointment Skin Protectant Let that sink in and dry for a few minutes Acne Treatment: #Perrigo - Tretinoin Cream 0.1%[products]#[FiveStars] (prescription only) #Allergan - Azelex Azelaic Acid Cream 20%[products]#[FiveStars] (prescription only) Antioxidant: dear, klairs - Fundamental Watery Oil Drop Moisturizer: CeraVe - CeraVe Moisturising Cream Oil: The Ordinary - 100% Organic Cold Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil (2 drops) #365 Everyday Value - 100% Essential Oil Tea Tree[products]#[FiveStars] (1 drop mixed in with rosehip oil) Eyebrows and Eyelashes: TROPIC ISLE LIVING - Jamaican Black Castor Oil Lmk what you think! ✨💞✨💞

Keep Your Protective Styles Moisturized!
I’ve had faux locs for about 3 weeks now and I can already see new growth coming in! This is how I keep them moisturized every week. This method can be used for any protective style including cornrows, box braids, twists and crochet styles. Step 1 Apply a light leave in conditioner on to your roots. Don’t add too much it can cause build-up much faster. Massage it in. CREME OF NATURE - Pure Honey Break Up Breakage Leave-In Conditioner Step 2 Apply a hair oil of your choice. Preferable one that promotes hair growth and prevents dryness. TROPIC ISLE LIVING - Jamaican Black Castor Oil Step 3 Lay your edges with your favorite edge control or gel! My Go-To Products for Wash Day (Natural 4B)
Not gonna lie I DO NOT look forward to wash day, my hair is naturally very thick and can be a lot to manage for one person BUT I have found products that work for me and make my wash day routine 20x easier and doesn’t take and ungodly amount of time. DISCLAIMER: I have dry scalp, i’ve had this all my life so i do use some products dedicated to that. Selsun blue - Naturals Itchy Dry Scalp Shampoo - i use this for my dry scalp, it’s pretty good and inexpensive. I focus this shampoo on my roots, I like to use the softer part of my fingers to lather the shampoo into my scalp & i try not to scratch while lathering. Maui MOISTURE - Heal & Hydrate + Shea Butter Raw Oil this is a newer product for me but I really do see a difference in my curls and overall hair. This is probably my third time using that this product in my hair but it’s improve the look of my curls and my hair feels way softer and moisturized after using. *I use two different shampoos, one for my scalp to remove dirt, build up etc and the other for my overall tresses, from root to tip to tip to lock in moisture* Maui MOISTURE - Heal & Hydrate + Shea Butter Hair Mask i like to do an in-shower deep conditioning, as soon as i wash out the shampoo i slap this in my head, really try to get this all in my hair. Then I let it sit in there, i take a shower myself, then i detangle with EZ DETANGLER - The EZ Detangler Brush that brush’d makes the detangling process 10x easier and my arms have thanked me for it. once i’m done washing out all the products i like to towel dry my hair for a little then before i blow dry it i put some TRESemmé - Keratin Smooth Heat Protection Shine Spray all over my hair to protect from the heat after i blow dry my hair i use TROPIC ISLE LIVING - Jamaican Black Castor Oil on my edges, all around the perimeter of my hairline and on my roots and rub it in.
