5 REASONS WHY YOU NEED TOPCOAT
5 REASONS WHY YOU NEED TOPCOAT
A good top coat is more than just clear nail polish! Tell me this—do you find your manicure always chips faster than you want it to? (I know, this makes gel manicures really tempting, but hear me out). 1) It makes your manicure last longer Nail polish top coat adds a glossy seal over the polish you’ve just put on, ensuring it doesn’t chip away as easily. 2) It helps your nails dry faster I don’t even consider a top coat these days if quick dry isn’t mentioned anywhere on the label. To put it simply, quick dry top coats work by literally solidifying faster, making bumps and nicks harder to make in the nail polish itself. 3) It can make your manicure look like gel Top coats add a more glossy finish and high shine to perfect nails, giving them the illusion of a thicker layer of polish that looks like gel. 4) It smooths any over application mistakes If you accidentally nick or smudge your nails, here’s no reason to stress—your perfect nails aren’t ruined! This is where the top coat comes in. It’ll smooth over and fill any tiny little nicks and bumps just enough so that they’re not noticeable, saving you from doing over your nails. 5) It makes your at-home nail art look pro It adds that finishing touch and makes everything look 100% better. Which top coat is best? A lot of people think that their nail polish chips because they’re using a cheap brand. The thing is, it doesn’t matter what brand of nail polish you use—if you’re using a good quality top coat and base coat, you can make ANY nail polish last (and look good!) for perfect nails. Here are my favourite top coats! Seche Vite Top Coat Seche - Vite Dry Fast Clear Top Coat Seche Vite Dry Fast top coat is a classic. There’s a good reason it comes so highly recommended—I don’t think I’ve ever had my nails look so much like gel before. However, it thickens very quickly and requires the Seche Restore brand thinner to use it again due to Seche Vite’s unique formula. Essie Good to Go essie - Good to Go Top Coat It dries quickly and super shiny, but doesn’t make nails look as gel-like as other top coats. However, it’s one that I relied on for a long time and I would happily recommend it. Essie Gel Setter Reviewessie - Gel Setter Top Coat It’s definitely similar to Good to Go, but to me has a little more plumping and a gel-like finish for nails. Sally Hansen Big Shiny Top Coat Sally Hansen - Big Shiny Top Coat I really, really liked the Sally Hansen Big Shiny Top Coat. It was Big, Shiny, and quick-drying—and easy to get and cheap. What’s not to love? So, what's the fastest way to dry nails again? Answer: with a top coat—so skip all those Pinterest hacks about putting your hands in iced water. Apply thin coats of nail polish, let it dry a little in between, and seal everything off with a good top coat (and your nails will probably look better and last longer than gel, too!) Here's to good manis and pedis ahead!

My favorite at home “gel” manicure!
My favorite at home “gel” manicure!
I’ve gotten so much better at painting my nails after not going into a salon in months, and this combo of products allows my manicure to last a full 2 weeks. I haven’t ventured into gel polishes that require a UV lamp, but the OPI Infinite Shine formula is the same quality. OPI - Infinite Shine Prostay Primer I had never used a nail primer, or even really a base coat, before trying this one, but I definitely feel like it helps the polish stick to the nail better. I’ve tried the infinite shine polish without the primer and my nails chipped much faster. OPI - Long Lasting Nail Polish Infinite Shine 2 this is the shade “engagement to be” which is described as a pale lilac, but appears more grayish purple in person. It’s a beautiful neutral shade and very glossy. The wide brush helps with easy application, and the formula is thick enough to not run, but still allow for buildable coverage through multiple coats. With this particular shade I use 3 coats, but most of the collection only requires 2 coats Seche - Vite Dry Fast Clear Top Coat Super quick drying but also super chip resistant! Makes my nails super glossy but isn’t thick or gummy at all. My nails dry significantly faster with this top coat than any other I’ve ever tried #cheriepartner

*EASY* Blood Drip Nail Tutorial ☠️
*EASY* Blood Drip Nail Tutorial ☠️
It doesn’t get much easier than than this nail look, folks. This is perfect for last minute Halloween nails or if (like me) you’re not the best with nail art. The messier and more imperfect this look is - the better! Chances are you’ve probably got these items in your collection already. Below are the steps, but I do suggest watching my video! What you’ll need: -tooth pick or nail art pen -paper towel -deep red nail polish (bright red OK too) -top coat Steps: 1. Pre-step if first time: Practice drawing the pattern on your paper towel. 2. Start with clean nails. 3. Dab a generous amount of polish onto your paper towel 4. Dip the tip of toothpick or nail art pen into the polish 5. Dot the polish heavily onto your nail. Add more dots if desired. 6. Drag polish upwards towards the tip of your nail from the top part of the dot. You may need to add more polish. 7. Taking more polish, apply to the tips of your nails. Don’t worry about being precise (unless you want to!) - the more haphazard the more gruesome ☠️ 8. Repeat on all nails 9. Once dry, apply top coat 10. Clean up edges with nail polish remover - or don’t if you want a gory look! 3 Most Common Nail Mistakes You’ll Want To Avoid &How To Fix Them!
3 Most Common Nail Mistakes You’ll Want To Avoid &How To Fix Them!
Since the pandemic started, I’ve had to do my own nails more often. My go-to nail salon has been closed for months. DIY manicures can be a little annoying if you don’t know what you’re doing. I’m telling you my mistakes so you can learn from what I did wrong. My Top 3 Nail Mistakes: 1. Only using one coat of polish I’m the first to admit it, I can be pretty lazy, but one coat of nail polish just doesn’t cut it. I know doing two coats takes more effort and adds to the drying time, but it’s so worth it in the end. 2. Not focusing enough on nail care Nail care is a game-changer! You need to buff, file, and cut your nails before applying polish to get the best results. Buffing really helps smooth out any ridges or inconsistencies on the nail bed. 3. Using a bad top & base coat Do you know that glossy top coat you get from at salons that makes your nails look super shiny and perfect? I didn’t use to care about which base or topcoat I used. I would just use the cheapest one available at the drug store. What a mistake! My Must-Try Nail Products: ●     Seche Vite Base & Top Coat - The Sechevete base and top coats give you that salon-worthy shine you want from a DIY mani. Plus, it helps dry the nails super fast so you can get on with your day! ●     Nail Buff - This thing was only $1, and it’s helped transform the way I give myself manicures! ●     A glass nail file - Did you know glass nail filers are supposed to be healthier for your natural nails? The Final Look I did this fun look for the 4th of July! I filed and buffed my nails with the white buffer and topped them with two coats of my favorite nail polishes by Essie!

Which Drugstore Gel Polish Reigns Supreme?
Which Drugstore Gel Polish Reigns Supreme?
Do you all remember when drugstore gel polishes were all the rage a few years ago?! Everyone, including myself, coveted the extra shiny, long-lasting appeal of gel manicures but wanted quicker, more affordable alternatives. I must stress this - I’ve never had a professional gel mani. My comparisons are purely going to be based on longevity, color payoff, & shine. In this post I’m going to discuss 3 popular gel polishes at the drugstore: Sally Hansen - Miracle Gel , essie - Gel Couture Top Coat , and wet n wild - 1 Step WonderGel Nail Color . All of these formulas claim to be long-wearing, high-shine, & don’t need a UV lamp to cure like traditional gel polishes. Sally Hansen: I’m wearing the shade “tidal wave” on my thumbs & pinkies (only left hand photographed). This formula is opaque in 2 coats, has a shiny finish, and easy to apply. I topped it with its matching top coat Sally Hansen - Miracle Gel Top Coat for extra shine. I purchased this shade & top coat as a set for approx $16 a few years ago, and have not had issues with the formulas changing over time. I have 1 other shade (discontinued). They retail for $7-10 each depending where you purchase. Honestly, this formula is not worth the hype or price. This shade lasts longer on me than the other one, but no where near the brand’s claims of being long-wearing. I find that my polish chips within 2-3 days and it’s downhill from there. Easily removable with any polish remover. Essie: I’m wearing “once upon a time” on my index & ring fingers. I received this & essie - Gel Couture Top Coat in an Influenster box a few years ago. The formula has not changed over time. This shade is opaque in 2 coats, shiny, and easy to apply. Sets with a polish & top coat are $18-20 and single polishes around $10-11 depending where you purchase. The formula is true to its claims of even coverage, shine, & fade-resistant. I find this to last about the same time as the WnW polishes (keep reading!). Again, for that reason, not worth the hype or price. Easily removable with any polish remover. Wet n Wild: These are the cheapest at around $5 ea. The 2 downsides are the shade range is significantly smaller (WNW ~ 10, sally hansen ~ 100, Essie ~ 45) & availability. It appears WNW has discontinued most of this line, but you can still find them at Walgreens.com and on the WNW website. This particular shade on my middle finger, “stay classy”, is one of my all-time fave polishes I’ve worn a lot over the last few years. I also have teal shade & the formula is consistent. It’s easy to apply, opaque in 2 coats, and shiny on its own (the 1-step claim) or with Seche - Vite Dry Fast Clear Top Coat This lasts around 3 days without chipping. Easily removable. Because it lasts about the same time as its more expensive counterparts, I recommend these instead. #CheriePartner

THREE TIPS FOR SALON-WORTHY NAILS
THREE TIPS FOR SALON-WORTHY NAILS
So here’s the thing - I get asked ALL THE TIME how much I paid to get my nails done. The kicker? I don’t pay to get them done - I’ve done my own nails for YEARS and I’ve perfected my technique for making them look like I got them done in the salon - even though they’re just regular nail polish. Here are my top three tips for perfect nails (no more mistakes) ➡️Sit at a table to do your nails You have GOT TO STOP trying to paint your nails while sitting on your couch or on the floor (unless you’re giving yourself a pedicure). Painting your nails while sitting at a table ensures that your hands are on a flat, stable surface so you have more control of the nail polish and are less likely to flood your cuticles, or look like a child tried to paint your nails. ➡️Always use top coat and base coat A quality top and base coat will make your nail polish look better and last longer. It’s honestly what matters more than the brand of polish you use - it will make dollar store, drugstore, or department store nail polish ALL look equally amazing and salon-worthy. Seche - Vite Dry Fast Clear Top Coat duri - Rejuvacote 1 Nail Growth System ➡️Don’t overload your brush with polish Trying to get a mani done quicker by painting a too thick layer on of polish is totally counter-intuitive. First, you’re more likely to do a messy paint job because you can’t control the polish and it will just go everywhere. Second, it’s going to take AGES to dry - much longer than thinner two coats of polish! These are my three top tips for salon-worthy nails - and they’ve never let me down! The shade of polish in the photo is Essie Van D’Go, a gorgeous peach shade. essie - Longwear Nail Polish
