NEW FIND! And I’m pleasantly surprised!?
It was time to get a new moisturizer. I was currently using the HONEST - Hydrogel Cream paired with the PAULA'S CHOICE - Omega+ Complex Moisturizer , RADHA BEAUTY - Rosehip Oil , and timeless SKIN CARE - Squalane Oil 100% Pure because I have pretty dry skin. I love both of those moisturizers (although I’m not fond of all the Paula’s choice Omega+ complex moisturizer ingredients, but I loooooove the texture and feeling of it ) and love my oils (I won’t stop using the oils), but knew I needed a richer cream and also wanted to keep it down to just one cream, for time and my bank accounts sake. So if you’ve seen my last post, I was deciding between 3 brands but I couldn’t decide and was also nervous to try a new moisturizer, even though I knew I needed one, because I’m also acne prone so a new moisturizer to me was just terrifying lol. I was about to just get my usual HONEST - Hydrogel Cream because I knew it didn’t break me out and I like it a lot, although not quite as moisturizing as I need, it was on the safer side and I can’t imagine going a day without a moisturizer on this Sahara desert of a face!!! But then I discovered this brand I’ve never seen before? It’s called Awake Human. It’s not even a listing on Cherie for me to add the product! I read the ingredients and was intrigued (scroll through pics to see ingredients list), but because of my fear of new moisturizers, I was hesitant.. but I decided to bite the bullet because the ingredients looked amazing, was cheaper than Paula’s choice and the honest beauty’s moisturizer, but had the same amount of product. I received it a few days ago and I am in love!!!!! Soooooo rich and creamy and hydrating feeling, and it had the same smooth, rich, texture as the Paula’s Choice omega moisturizer, that I love so much!!! It comes in a nice little pump type of packaging, which I like. Keeps bacteria and gunk out. If you scroll through my pictures, you’ll see it. And a little bit goes a long way! The picture you see of the product on my fingers is the amount I use, but you can totally use less, especially if you have more oily or normal skin. I just like a lot of moisturizer! Lol I’ve noticed my face is much less dry feeling and looks smoother with less texture. I will keep you updated, but I think this is my new fave!!!! I’m so excited lol. Here the link the purchase: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07NWXJYVK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_fabc_YHI-Fb9BRJKT0?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 If you’re hesitant but intrigued like I was, I strongly encourage you to just try it. And if it happens that doesn’t work for your face, because remember, everyone is different and skincare is not a one size fits all, then it would most definitely be a really really nice hand cream, that would fit nicely in your bag. Have you heard of this brand before? And if so, have you used anything from them?
Honestly, not bad!
Am I the only one overwhelmed with the amount of moisturizers on the market? Just me? Ok, cool. HONEST - Hydrogel Cream is definitely an interesting find and something I don’t usually go for but I was hooked when I read through the ingredients. There’s no synthetic fragrance, which is a huge, huge benefit. Ya girl loves anything unscented, synthetic fragrances in skincare is just 🙅🏻♀️ Another fantastic ingredient in this product is glycerin, which is a humectant so it does attract water to itself, keeping that skin moisturized throughout the day. And then finally my all time favorite ingredient, hyaluronic acid. I LOVE hyaluronic acid! It just works well for my skin. I’ve been using this jar for roughly 3 months and I have to say, although it does moisturize my skin, I’m not a fan of the consistency. I was hoping when I initially purchased it, it would be a gel consistency, just because that’s what I prefer. Turns out, this is actually very thick! It doesn’t feel heavy on my skin, which I thought was nice but when used alone, the product doesn’t sink into my skin easily. Overall verdict: I applaud Jessica Alba for creating a somewhat affordable skincare/everything in-between brand that seems to care more about quality over quantity. As a consumer, I appreciate a company that acknowledges how oftentimes we can be duped and actively puts forth an effort to change that with their products. For that reason and that reason alone I would 100% invest in other Honest Beauty products. This moisturizer however, I would not purchase again. I like it, but I don’t love it!
My Honest Opinion
The two things I can’t help but buy: 1). Cleansers, and; 2). Face creams I don’t think you can ever have too many of either lol. I picked this up because I love a good gel cream; I’ve seen so many positive reviews, and; because it contains two different hyaluronic acids. Oh! And who doesn’t love Jessica Alba?! HONEST - Hydrogel Cream My Thoughts: 💧It looks like a regular face cream as it is white in colour. It’s fragrance free, which is great if you have sensitive skin. Once you put this cream on you notice instantly it doesn’t feel like any old face cream! It immediately feels hydrating and honestly (pun intended) feels like a splash of water. 💧It’s instantly hydrating and absorbs quickly without giving off a greasy feel. It also gives my skin a nice, dewy glow immediately after applying. I love that you only have to apply a small amount as well. Why It’s Great: ✨ It contains two types of hyaluronic acid, squalane, and sodium PCA — all extremely hydrating ingredients ✨ immediately makes your skin look radiant and gives of a dewy glow without leaving your skin feel greasy ✨ Can be used in the AM or PM ✨ Safe for all skin types ✨ It’s light-weight While my skin type is normal and I find this hydrating, if you’re skin is extremely dry I would opt for something thicker. This retails for $29 CAD for 50 mLs which will last you for a while, even with daily use. I 100% recommend trying as it feels like a luxury face cream even though it’s sold at the drug store :)
My Honest Opinion
Ok, so in the spirit of being honest, let me start by saying that I pretty much only bought these products because of the hype surrounding them. I kept hearing about how clean the formulas were, so I decided to give them a try and my verdict is: I don't hate them.... but I don't love them. HONEST - Gentle Gel Cleanser This is a perfectly fine cleanser and true to its name is actually very gentle. However, there is a fragrance because it contains the lavender essential oil. It's not a strong smell but it's definitely there, so super sensitive skins will not do well with this. I personally prefer cream cleansers to gel and therefore will probably not purchase this again. This cleanser would work best on normal/oily skin with minimal sensitivities. HONEST - Hydrogel Cream The product claims to feel like a burst of water for your skin and it sure is. Except they didn't mention that it literally looks like you splashed a bunch of water on your face. This cream leaves a very wet and borderline greasy look on my face and is very difficult to blend in. It sits on the surface and never seems to fully sink into my skin, which makes it difficult to layer other products. I would actually recommend this product to anyone who wants an intense "glow" effect. Although this is recommended for oily skin, I feel that it would still feel too greasy and would better suit a normal/dehydrated skin type. All in all, not horrible but definitely nothing special. Thank you, next.
HONEST-Gentle Gel Cleanser
Skin care routine
After countless hours of research I found my current skincare routine. As mentioned in my previous post I have pretty oily skin with large pores and texture issues being my biggest skin problems. I discovered an app called Think Dirty that breaks down the ingredients of different skin care, beauty, and household products and gives them as rating based on how good the ingredients are for your body as well as the environment. HIGHLY recommend checking it out but be prepared that you may find some of your favorite products really aren’t that great... As for my routine: In the mornings I wash my face with HONEST - Gentle Gel Cleanser which I love as it is super gentle but still feels like it is really cleaning my face. It has super clean ingredients and smells nice. Then I use the GOOD MOLECULES - Niacinamide Brightening Toner This toner is fairly gentle. I had been using the ordinary toner which is a lot stronger and always made my face burn so I like that this one is a bit more chill plus it has extra ingredients like niacinamide and vitamin C. After that I apply the HONEST - Hydrogel Cream since I have oily skin I wanted to use am oil free moisturizer and I’m obsessed with this one. It is super light weight but really feels like it hydrates. If I am planning to go outside I use the alba BOTANICA - Mineral Sunscreen, Sensitive, Fragrance Free, SPF 30 I chose this one because it had super clean ingredients and I am sensitive to normal sunscreen so I had to find a mineral based one. It’s not greasy and doesn’t leave a white residue or anything so I’m super happy with it. In the evening I again wash with the Honest cleanser and apply the good molecules toner. Then a few nights a week I use the GOOD MOLECULES - Overnight Exfoliating Treatment I’ve only used it a couple times so I haven’t noticed a huge improvement but my skin seems a little less uneven texture wise so I think as I continue to use it it will really help. I gave it 4 stars because it does burn a little but that’s expected for most exfoliators... At night I also use the GOOD MOLECULES - Discoloration Correcting Serum and GOOD MOLECULES - Squalane Oil both of which I like so far! The oil makes me skin super soft and I think with continued use both will show good results. I then use the honest moisturizer and head to bed. When I want a little extra exfoliation I use either the The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution which I really like and has definitely help my texture or the AZTEC SECRET - Indian Healing Clay (not pictured) which is my savior for my pores. I recommend doing a half water half apple cider vinegar mix because it can be a bit intense with straight vinegar. I highly recommend all of these products so feel free to comment for more info!!!

Tretinoin and Spironolactone Progress July-Dec
I’m back! And wow what a difference! I’ve since switched upped my dosage to Apostrophe 0.05% tret with 4% Niacinimide cream forumula beginning in November. I’m also taking 50 mg of Spirinolactone now. My face has definitively gotten a lot drier, with some mild peeling throughout the day (any tips are welcome!) I’m going to see how waiting 15 mins before apply tret after moisturizer and 15 minutes after tret will work Overall, I feel like my forehead has a smoother texture, and I’m seeing less breakouts. I now definitely want to start working on reducing the appearance of my acne scars, but with my face so dry right now, I’m not sure if that’s an option. I’m going to wait a while and talk to my derm about adding in any actives. Also very sad about the Purito sunscreen scandal :-( Here’s my routine below: Morning (focus on hydration and barrier) CeraVe - Hydrating Facial Cleanser dear, klairs - Supple Preparation Unscented Facial Toner COSRX - Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence PEACH & LILY - Glass Skin Refining Serum HONEST - Hydrogel Cream BRUJITA - Hechizo Facial Serum BRUJITA - Vegan Crema Supergoop! - Glow Stick SPF 50 Night (applying tret nightly-wondering whether to reduce to every other day ) DHC - Deep Cleansing Oil HONEST - Gentle Gel Cleanser (or COSRX - Low PH Good Morning Gel Cleanser ) dear, klairs - Supple Preparation Unscented Facial Toner COSRX - Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence HONEST - Hydrogel Cream Then putting BRUJITA - Vegan Crema on my driest areas Apostrophe Cream BRUJITA - Hechizo Facial Serum BRUJITA - Vegan Crema
