Textured Skin?? 3 Tried & Tested Products!
Textured Skin?? 3 Tried & Tested Products!
Up until I really started understanding🤔my skin and how certain ingredients work... I always had textured skin due to acne, blemishes and lack of regular exfoliation. Well here’s my experiences from lessons learnt throughout the years for all those people who are on the same boat as I once was.. I’ve learnt the key🔑to smoother skin is knowing the underlying issue and the reason behind your skin’s uneven texture and incorporating exfoliants in a regulated skincare routine. ⁣ When treating the uneven skin texture, you need to ask yourself whether or not you are using exfoliants (both physical and chemical)? If your answer is NO, then you have bumpy skin and you need to start incorporating an exfoliant into your skincare routine. Lactic acid is a good place to start as it suits all skin types. However, what really works for my skin type (oily/combination) is Salicylic acid. Be sure to start with an exfoliant by using once or twice a week and only take it up to using it 3 times a week. No more than this please ☺️ ⁣ If your answer is YES, then ask yourself:⁣ “How many times am I using the exfoliants and how strong are they?” If you’re using exfoliants more than 2 to 3 times a week and you still have bumpy/textured skin then there’s a high chance your skin’s barrier is not happy. Work on repairing and strengthening your skin barrier by using products geared towards providing hydration💦and moisturization. Periodically, exfoliating definitely will help improve your skin texture! Here are some of ⁣My Tried & Tested Products for bump-free skin: 1. GOOD MOLECULES - Pineapple Exfoliating Powder 2. PETER THOMAS ROTH - Peptide 21 Amino Acid Exfoliating Peel Pads 4. dermalogica - Hydro Masque Exfoliant Follow & Glow! ✨ #cheriepartner ⁣ ⁣

Me: DRY skin in winter (combo in summer), very sensitive/reactive/allergic, currently acne prone, also have a nose that is very picky about scents Onto my next bunch of brand minis, I tried the YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - With Pride Minis Kit Overall excellent kit for the price, all good products worth trying, and generously sized minis! Least Favorite: YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Yerba Mate Resurfacing Energy Facial This one was just kind of anticlimactic for me. It smelled nice, it worked fine, it didn’t bother my skin, but I also didnt see much of a difference? Overall good physical exfoliator, but maybe physical exfoliators just arent for me. The next physical exfoliant I’m trying is the GOOD MOLECULES - Pineapple Exfoliating Powder Second Place: YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Superfood Antioxidant Cleanser I liked this cleanser. As a dry skin person I was SURE this would be too stripping, but actually it wasnt too bad! I am definitely more of a creamy cleanser person, but I can see myself loving this in summer. I like the ingredients, and i like the green juice smell. Overall ~4.5 stars. My next “green juice” cleanser to try is the Krave - Matcha Hemp Hydrating Cleanser The Absolute Best 😍😍😍: YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Superberry Hydrate + Glow Dream Mask literally a dream. Hydrated and glowy and smooth and so much more. I’m realizing that it is quite hard to get both hydrated AND glowing. This smells delicious and makes my face feel like a baby’s butt in the morning. Absolutely 10 stars all around. I’m trying out another vitamin c sleeping mask (KORRES - Wild Rose Vitamin C Brightening Sleeping Facial) but honestly, I dont even know why because i should just take the plunge and buy the jumbo size of this dream mask ☁️🌈 How do you feel about YTTP? I’m curious to try the moisturizers. I love the green smell but I’m guessing the superfood air whip moisturizer will be too light for me. Any dry folks who have tried both? Also need to try the superberry oil, especially if it smells like the mask! Also, which of their two eye creams would you recommend trying? Leave it in the comments!

Gentle, effective & affordable exfoliator 🍍
Gentle, effective & affordable exfoliator 🍍
I was super excited to try this product out and so far it has definitely met my expectations. If you’re looking for an affordable way to exfoliate your face, make it look a little brighter and reduce your skin texture, this could be a great option for you. If this is used in the correct way (aka not every single day and used in the right order) if can be a really beneficial product. The good: + This is like a two-in-one exfoliation system with both physical and chemical exfoliation. + It feels very gentle and you have complete control over how much physical exfoliation that you get depending on how much water you add to the mixture. + The powder itself is very fine which helps keep the exfoliation very gentle. + Your skin afterwards feels clean and smooth but not tight or raw at all. I haven’t experienced any irritation with this product whatsoever. + Not only does it make your skin feel smooth, but it also looks smooth! My texture is definitely reduced. + The price is so good! It’s just under $20 and you get a good amount of product. I’ve used it for over two months now and it looks like I barely made a dent in it. + Key ingredients include (from most to least): rich starch (physical exfoliant), sodium cocoyl isethionate (creamy cleansing agent), diglycerin (humectant that moisturizes), pineapple extract (exfoliates, soothes, moisturizes), allantonin (soothes & protects), vitamin c (antioxidant that brightens skin). + No fragrance or essential oils added, for those with sensitive skin. + Unlike my peels, this is gentle enough to use up to 3-4 times per week. I’ve just been using it twice a week so I don’t over exfoliate. The not so good: - I feel like there is an opportunity for user error here since it’s up to you, to create the paste and how you use it. For instance, if you make the paste too grainy and then rub it roughly onto the skin, this may cause some harm versus actually being beneficial. So I just think you need to be really careful. - While I think this is a great option for someone with more sensitive skin or someone who is new to exfoliation, I personally find that a more heavy duty chemical exfoliator gives me more of a glow! Worth it? For around $16-20, I think it’s totally worth it. It has good ingredients and you actually get quite a bit of product. And since this is in a powder form, the active ingredient (vitamin c) will likely last much longer. I would typically not be able to use up a vitamin c product if I wasn’t using it everyday so that’s great. Would I repurchase? I’m actually not sure. I do think it’s a great product! I just think that once I’m done this bottle (which I think will take a long time) I might move onto something a little more foolproof and heavy duty like a serum / toner / peel for my exfoliation. It does feel satisfying to have a little bit of a physical exfoliation and my skin does look pretty smooth afterwards so we shall see... but so far I love it! Ps I have combo, acne prone skin :)

All-in-one exfoliation?! {chemical & physical}
All-in-one exfoliation?! {chemical & physical}
Whether you’re a seasoned chemical or physical exfoliation vet, or you’re new to the party, it’s important to understand the purpose of exfoliating. Exfoliating can help remove dead skin, slough off dry patches, smooth, reduce acne scars and texture, unclog pores, and make your skin look brighter by encouraging cell turnover. Chemical exfoliation uses acids, such as alpha hydroxy acids (AHA) and beta hydroxy acids (BHA), and/or enzymes. These chemicals help to dissolve/loosen dead skin cells. Chemical exfoliation is generally safe to do a few times per week, depending on your skin type and the strength of the product you’re using. Read directions and consult your doctor. Physical exfoliation uses small particles to scrub away dirt and dead skin. Look for gentle physical exfoliants, such as jojoba beads and rice powder. Avoid larger, more coarse particles such as nut shells because they can damage your skin. Physical exfoliation should be done less frequently to avoid over-irritation. Both kinds are great for your skin, and all skin types can benefit. Yes, even dry skin (like me)! My ideal combo is to use both methods at least 1x/week. My current top pick for an all-in-one exfoliator is the GOOD MOLECULES - Pineapple Exfoliating Powder . It contains rice powder (physical), vitamin C, and fruit enzymes (chemical). You simply pour out some powder and add water. The powder dissolves in a couple drops of water into a grainy, milky foam. Add more water for less physical exfoliation. My skin is left feeling smoother every time, and never feels stripped or irritated. I use 1x/wk. It’s unscented and suitable for all skin types. At $16, this is a great option for gentle all-in-one exfoliation! Available on Beautylish (although currently sold out). Item was gifted by brand w/o obligation.

EXFOLIATION 101! How, what, when & why!
EXFOLIATION 101! How, what, when & why!
PHYSICAL VS CHEMICAL + SERUM VS SCRUB VS TONER! Which will you choose?! Hi everyone, welcome to Exfoliation 101. Let’s jump right into the lesson! 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭? Exfoliation is the removal of old and dead skin cells on the surface. AKA it’s how you get rid of dry, flaky, and crusty skin. 𝐰𝐡𝐲? Exfoliation removes the layer of dead skin cells that often clog our pores and keep our skin care products from penetrating deeper into the skin. Essentially, you should exfoliate to reveal brighter, softer, and healthier skin. Your serums and moisturizers will perform a lot better. 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧? 2-3x a week MAX. Over exfoliation can cause irritation and breakouts! I personally only exfoliate 2x a week for my dry skin. 𝐡𝐨𝐰? PHYSICAL - granular particals like powders, sugar, oatmeal, fruits.. etc. * scrubs can often be abrasive and do more harm than good. Always be gentle, stay away from your eyes, and don’t over do it. I recommend physical scrubs that have granular particals that are gentle and or dissolve. CHEMICAL - Acids in the form of serums or toners! * There are many types, so read below to find which one might fit your concerns best. Skip a few days in between use and WEAR SPF! ✦ AHAs > Glycolic & Lactic Acid. * works on the skin surface. Mainly helps skin texture. Can be synthetic, but mostly derived from fruits. ✦ BHAs > Salicylic Acid & tropic Acid. * deeply penetrates pores, helps skin texture & unclog pores and remove excess sebum. Ideal for acne prone skin. ✦ PHAs > Gluconolactone & Lactobionic Acid. * less irritating. Doesn’t penetrate as deep as AHA/BHAs 𝐦𝐲 𝐟𝐚𝐯𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐞𝐱𝐟𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬↴ GOOD MOLECULES - Pineapple Exfoliating Powder The best gentle physical exfoliation. + made from rice powder! Just add water and start to *gently* scrub away. + also includes pineapple enzymes for some chemical exfoliation as well. + great for sensitive skin & exfoliation beginners. + brightens and smooths. + all skin types. + affordable! $18 FARMACY - Honeymoon Glow Serum Multi-tasking overnight serum with chemical exfoliation BHAs + AHAs and more. + great for texture, hydration, brightening, and clarifying skin. + helps enlarged pores, fine lines, wrinkles, breakouts, dark spots, firmness and skin elasticity. + 14% AHA, BHA, flower acids. + NIGHT TIME ONLY. + rich and silky texture. + doesn’t sting or burn! (I have sensitive skin) + $58. Best bought in a set for a bargain. iNNBEAUTY PROJECT - Down To Tone Resurfacing Toner Exfoliating Toner Chemical exfoliating toner + 6 acid blend ( basically BHA + PHA ) + exfoliates, clarifies, and brightens. + helps with acne, texture, & dark spots. + use on cotton round. + Use 2-5x per week at night, work your way up to daily use. + tingles + $22

DRY SKIN TRY THESE TIPS!
DRY SKIN TRY THESE TIPS!
Do’s and DON’Ts for DRY skin that will change your skincare life! Hello all my fellow dry skin babes. This one is for you! I’ve got to say, dry skin is relatively new to me. I always had more normal to oily skin and then I moved to San Francisco and for whatever reason my skin is pretty dry now. I’ve learned how to take real good care of my skin and maintain moisture to keep my dry skin as happy as it can be. SO here’s some DO this and DON’T YOU DARE do that tips. DO Use a gentle and hydrating cleanser. (Milk makeup vegan milk cleanser) If you’re going to tone, please look for more hydrating toners. (Puristry) LAYER UP! Layer your hydration with different skincare products like serums, face oils, and moisturizers. EXFOLIATE. Get that layer of dead skin off! all the hard work of layering hydration won’t absorb into your skin. Use products with hydrating/moisture retaining ingredients like; Hyaluronic Acid, Ceramides, squalene and Honey. (Honey and Ceramide will change ya skincare game!) DON’T Over exfoliate. This is just going to cause irritation and breakouts, so now on top of dry skin you have broken out and angry skin. Keep exfoliation in your routine for 1-2x a week. Stay away from harsh ingredients. Ingredients like Benzyl proxide, Salicylic Acid, Alcohol etc. can dry you out, so use it in moderation. Don’t over do it. Getting rid of dry skin takes time! Keep a steady routine and you will start to see results. Wear matte makeup! This will add to your dry skin. My best advice is to wear a hydrating primer and then you can go in with a matte foundation. Try to keep away from setting powders. (HG Laura Mercier translucent powder is made for oily skin! Only making you dry skin babes ever more dry) best of all, don’t be lazy. You can’t fix your skin if you aren’t consistent and keep up a routine. **Dry skin can often appear as oily skin, so if you start to get really oily and its pretty far from your normal, then keep that in mind. When our skin is so dry it starts to produce natural oils to replenish the moisture and essentially fix itself. Dry skin can be so severe that our skin starts producing these oils like crazy. I can sit here and really get into it, but I know I’ll bore you and you’ll just skip through it. So follow these go to and simple tips to be on your way to balance and “normal” skin! May the hydration forever be with you 😉 💦
