Tell Rough Skin to Beet It!
Tell Rough Skin to Beet It!
I’m 28 and I decided it was finally time to start adding retinol to my skincare lineup. I settled on Sweet Chef’s Sweet CHEF - Beet + Vitamin A Serum Shot mainly because I wanted to try out the brand, but I’m so glad I did! I’ve been using it for almost two months so I figured it’s finally time to give it a review From sweet chef: “The Beet + Vitamin A Serum Shot smooths skin texture with ... vitamin-rich beet and antioxidant-packed vitamin A to refine pores and help minimize signs of aging. It’s glass skin made easy.” Quick info: 🔺Smell: sort of a clean earthy scent that’s pretty subtle 🔺Texture: thick gel-like serum that’s a pretty pinkish-red 🔺Absorbs quickly 🔺Beets help skin retain moisture and stay soft and smooth 🔺Vitamin A (retinol) works to minimize signs of aging 🔺Gentle enough to use twice daily (I will probably work up to nightly) 🔺 Cost: $20 for 1oz Incorporating it into my routine: -Right now, I use this serum 2x a week at night -I pair it with Glossier. - Super Bounce Hyaluronic Acid + Vitamin B5 Serumfor added hydration and top it off with a generous layer of YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Adaptogen Deep Moisture Cream with Ashwagandha + Reishi -They recommend pairing it with Sweet CHEF - Ginger + Vitamin C Serum Shotfor ‘glass skin’ and I will probably try this now that I’ve had a chance to ease the beet serum in -I’m addition to my face, I pat this onto my neck on the nights I’m using it because I’ve started laying more attention to aging and wrinkles there -for the first several weeks I had some dryness and flaking for a day or two after each use, but have not had any recently -I have not had purging while using this The Results: Ok, I know retinol takes a while to fully work it’s magic, but this is one of the few products I’ve used where I saw a change almost immediately! It evens out my skin tone dramatically, especially on my cheeks - less redness and general unevenness and my skin is soft. After the first several uses, I am not seeing the dryness anymore and this leaves my skin hydrated and soft. My pores look a little smaller and I am so excited to continue using this serum and watch the continued improvements! My verdict: YES!! I love this serum and am so glad I started using it. It’s cheap, gentle, and works well! I highly recommend it! Do you use retinol? What’s your favorite retinol product?

Sweet CHEF - Ginger + Vitamin C Serum Shot If you are looking for a very effective vitamin c serum this probably isn’t for you. But, if you’re just looking for a great facial serum with skin nourishing ingredients, look no further! Honestly at this price point, though, I don’t think there are any life changing vitamin c serums. Vitamin c is very unstable so it costs a lot to make an effective formula. I am happy and impressed with this product for what it is. I don’t think the amount of vitamin c in this serum is enough to make any drastic changes on its own, but it does contain everything it needs to provide good antioxidants and other helpful ingredients. One of my favorite parts of this product is the texture. It just feels so amazing on the skin. It is a gel-like liquid. Another thing I like is that I can use this serum even when my skin is irritated because of how gentle it is. This is great for sensitive skin. The marketing does make it seem like it is a vitamin c serum, and technically it is, but if you think of it as a skin soothing serum that delivers hydration with a touch of the benefits of vitamin c, I think you’d be happier with the product. If you have tried this product or have any recommendations please let me know in the comments!

So as mentioned in my last post, Sweet Chef is the sister company of Glow Recipe. You get some great formulas, for a pretty great price! This was one of the first vitamin C serums I tried a few years back.. and honestly it was pretty good! Much like the vitamin A serum I just reviewed in a previous post, this is a great serum for makeup and skincare beginners! Being able to start a good routine with some low cost products.. honestly is such a great start! This is not a product I would recommend to anyone who is well versed in the world of skincare.. I don’t think you’ll be too happy with this product. I went through the product quick, using it every morning. This is good considering it doesn’t have an airtight seal and the glass is clear.. causing the product to go bad pretty quickly.

Sweet CHEF - Ginger + Vitamin C Serum Shot I absolutely LOVE this serum!!! I was using HONEST - Vitamin C Radiance Serum and I was not noticing an improvement in my skin as much as I would’ve liked to. I switched to using this product in the AM so I can still use my retinol at night. It makes my skin feel so smooth and look bright. 👉🏻This serum has anti-inflammatory ginger to help neutralize environmental aggressors and revives dull skin with antioxidant rich vitamin C. I highly recommend this product to anyone who struggles with dark spots or keeping your skin radiant!! Like any serum from Sweet Chef, it lives up to it’s expectations. 💵This serum is $19.99 at Target.

Just ok: Sweet Chef Ginger C Serum
Just ok: Sweet Chef Ginger C Serum
The Sweet CHEF - Ginger + Vitamin C Serum Shot is just ok. I’m almost through with the bottle and while I don’t have anything particularly negative to say about it, I also won’t be repurchasing...HERES WHY: Product Claims - helps give “mega glow” by hydrating skin - fights acne scars and hyperpigmentation Ingredient Superstars ✨ Ginger - full of antioxidants ✨ Turmeric - calming and anti inflammatory ✨ Vitamin C (L-Ascorbic Acid) - brightens skin by fading hyperpigmentation More Fast Facts: - smell: fresh and lightly gingery...no vitamin C funk! - texture: very watery, thin serum - price: $20 for 1oz Given all of this information, here’s how I feel about the Ginger + Vitamin C Serum Shot: I experienced no irritation while using this product almost daily on my face and neck It is definitely hydrating and I had very minimal stickiness/tackiness associated with it I did not notice a difference in fading dark spots after using this for quite a while The smell and price point are both fantastic for a vit C serum 🌟 Overall, I enjoyed using this serum and would highly recommend it to someone who is looking to get into vitamin C but is scared of the irritation and ‘hot dog’ smell that is often associated with ascorbic acid. It is hydrating, gentle, and easy to incorporate into a routine with other products. But if you’re looking for a vitamin C that’s more of a heavy-hitter for dark spots, I’d look somewhere else! The next vitamin C I plan on using is the YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - 15% Vitamin C + Clean Caffeine Energy Serumwhich also highlights ginger. I’d love to hear about your favorite vit C products! Thanks for reading 💛

When trying new products, there will always be a few duds. Here are 3 products I didn’t even bother finishing in 2020. Sweet CHEF - Ginger + Vitamin C Serum Shot Sweet Chef Ginger + Vitamin C serum is supposed to provide a powerful shot of vitamin C and ginger to brighten your complexion. Key ingredients include ginger, vitamin C, and turmeric root extract. This product sounded amazing and I had heard great things about it. Honestly, I wasn’t impressed. I didn’t notice a different with hyperpigmentation of my acne scars, which is what I was hoping this product would do. COSRX - AC Collection Calming Liquid Mild A calming toner meant to treat acne while helping the skin recover without irritation. This formula allows the skin to return to its healthy state by solving acne-related concerns such as controlling excessive sebum and balancing skin's natural pH level. I was excited because this toner is alcohol-free which helps the skin maintain the oil-moisture balance. But again it just didn’t deliver. I was still breaking out the entire time I was using this toner. So I’m moved onto a different product. Sephora Hyaluronic Acid ⭐️ This purchase was made to experiment with other brands of hula acid. Th texture of this product was great. However, I couldn’t get past the fragrance. I felt like I was putting on perfume all over my face and it wasn’t pleasant. I didn’t use it long enough to see if it worked or not. Just because I didn’t have any luck with these products doesn’t mean that you won’t. Have you tried any of these? What did you think?
