What Else You Need to KnowRetinol and supportive peptides restore bounce, resilience, and clarity to skin while helping to even tone and texture without redness and irritation. Vitamin F and a curated blend of oils replenish lipids and moisture while antioxidant-packed ingredients defend against environmental stressors. Free of essential oils, silicones, and fragrance. Drunk Elephant is committed to using only ingredients that either directly benefit the health of the skin or support the integrity of their formulations. They never take into account whether something is synthetic or natural, instead choosing ingredients based on biocompatibility. That’s why they focus on healthy pH levels, formulations the skin recognizes, small molecular structure that’s easily absorbed, and effective active ingredients that also support and maintain the skin’s acid mantle. But what they leave out of their products is just as important as what they put into them, so you will never find what they call the Suspicious 6 (essential oils, drying alcohols, silicones, chemical sunscreens, fragrances/dyes, SLS) in their line. Drunk Elephant believes that these six ubiquitous ingredients are at the root of almost every skin issue, and when they’re removed entirely from your routine—that is, when you take a Drunk Break™—skin can reset and return to its healthiest, most balanced state. This ingredient-elimination diet benefits all skin types and inspired the #barewithus Instagram movement, a collection of bare-faced selfies that chronicles the Drunk Elephant journeys of people who have found not only healthier skin but more importantly, healthier self-confidence. Drunk Elephant is a supporter of IEF (International Elephant Foundation) and is cruelty-free. Award wins: - Men's Health, 2019 Grooming Award - Women's Health, 2019 Beauty Award

Fight Acne with Retinoids and Retinol to GLOW ✨
Fight Acne with Retinoids and Retinol to GLOW ✨
🚨If you suffer from stubborn acne (like I have) you may want to consider adding OTC retinoids to your routine! 🔑Retinoids, a vitamin A derivative, are a key player in the skincare industry. Many studies have proven retinoids fight acne, promote collagen, reduce wrinkles and hyperpigmentation to give skin a healthy glow. The good news is now there are plenty of options for Rx strength one now available OTC! 💁🏻‍♀️I only mentioned products I’ve use and that work! Best OTC Rx Strength Adapalene 0.1% proactiv - Adapalene Gel 0.1% Acne Treatment DIFFERIN - Acne Treatment Gel LA ROCHE-POSAY - Effaclar Adapalene Gel .01% Topical Retinoid Acne Treatment This former prescription-only retinoid works to unclog pores by slowing pore lining growth and reduces the skin’s sensitivity to inflammation! This is a great introductory retinoid if you’ve never used any before. ✨Prevents pimple formation ✨Speeds blemish healing time ✨Reduces inflammation and redness ✨Evens skin tone and texture ✨Anti-aging benefits Best OTC Retinol Serums Why do I like OTC retinoids better than retinol? Retinol actually takes much longer to work. In fact, because retinol must convert at the cellular level of the skin, it can take 6 months to a year before seeing results. Retinol can be 20x less effective than a Rx strength retinoids. Murad - Retinol Youth Renewal Serum dermalogica - Retinol Acne Clearing Oil SUNDAY RILEY - A+ High-Dose Retinol Serum The Ordinary - Retinol 0.2% in Squalane The Ordinary - Retinol 0.2% in Squalane DRUNK ELEPHANT - A-Passioni Retinol Cream ✨Gentle formulas - good for sensitive skin ✨Decrease fine lines over time ✨Serums contain other skin hydrating ingredients Myths True and False: ⚡️Retinoids thin your skin - FALSE They actually strengthen your skin by promoting collagen production. ⚡️Retinoids have drying side effects - TRUE and FALSE When you start using retinoids, skin may go through a process of Retinization, the adjustment period in which dryness, flaking and redness can occur. Symptoms subside in about 4 weeks and are almost eliminated my using a great moisturizer. ⚡️You should wait till your older to use retinoids - FALSE Retinoids and retinol are safe to use ages 12 and up! 💁🏻‍♀️Right now, I personally use Proactive adapalene 0.1% for acne fighting and anti-aging at the same time! How save retinoids improved your skin?

How to Use Retinoids Without Wrecking Your Skin
How to Use Retinoids Without Wrecking Your Skin
Retinoids are amazing. Whether you’re using adapalene (Differin) to treat acne, over-the-counter retinols to prevent signs of aging or correct hyperpigmentation, or plan to start tretinoin (Retin-A) for both, retinoids are exciting and have decades of research to back up their efficacy. But they can be a bit tricky- after all, almost anyone who turns to retinoids is warned of flaking, dryness, purging, redness, irritation... side effects galore. Except, it’s honestly pretty easy to avoid most of those. The purging is somewhat inevitable due to how retinoids work, but mixing retinol with an oil or applying an oil in the same routine can help stave off a lot (if not all) of the irritation, redness, flaking, and/or dryness. Oils help to fortify the skin barrier with fatty acids, as well as seal in the moisture from your hydrating serums and/or your moisturizer. I figured this tip out after accidentally forgetting to apply an oil (a usual part of my PM routine) with my tretinoin and immediately experienced flaking around my nose. Here are my favourite retinol+oil combos... The Ordinary - Retinol 1% in Squalane is my favourite over-the-counter retinol, melding two wonderful and simple ingredients: squalane and retinol. They offer three concentrations, beginning at 0.2%, then 0.5%, and finally 1%. I saw no irritation slowly making my way between the various concentrations, the squalane drying down to a lovely satin finish if you use in the AM before sunscreen. THE inkey LIST - Rosehip Oil applied after my Apostrophe Tretinoin has helped immensely- I didn’t notice any flaking/dryness until the night I forgot to apply it after my tret, which is impressive! I also haven’t experienced any redness or increased sensitivity, which I credit partly to this oil (also partly to my soothing serums). It’s already been helping with my acne and hyperpigmentation, as well as some tiny bumpy texture that has been persistently plaguing my forehead since before the beginning of my skincare journey years ago. DRUNK ELEPHANT - Virgin Marula Antioxidant Face Oil applied after DRUNK ELEPHANT - Virgin Marula Antioxidant Face Oil is a dream team combination for aging, dry skin- as well as a wonderful way to correct texture and tone! I can’t recommend this specific combination enough for helping with uneven texture and uneven tone. It lightened some of my dark spots and really helped smooth the orange peel texture on my chin, with the oil keeping a lot of the dryness at bay.

I have come so far!! One month of dedication
I have come so far!! One month of dedication
It’s insane how far a little education on specific ingredients that target your skin needs will get you!! I am pharmacist who decided to use her medical research skills to look into ingredients that benefit and harm the skin. when I tell you I personally believe my skin has gotten better because of the products I removed more than what I have added. Many of the products marketed contain many irritants such as essential oils and fragrances that are just UNNECESSARY and harmful. ( it’s great marketing, but I don’t want to be putting that on my face anymore) I started off with very dehydrated skin, large pores, small pimples widespread across my face, black heads and HEAVY and STUBBORN hyperpingmentation. (I have normal/dry skin) I definitely tested out a lot of products which I did post before and after pictures in terms of results ( which I shall be sharing ) stay tuned !! I was able to clear my skin, but I am slightly struggling with stubborn hyperpigmentation ( but we all know that takes time) and the key is to be consistent and patient. In addition, I can’t figure out how to get rid of my eye bags whatsoever.. I know sleep and hydration are big factors but I wish I could do more... I am not such a beleiver of eye cream but if anyone has a product that they can swear by in decreasing eye bags ! I’m all for it If you guys have any advice on how I can better my skin quality please share!! And if you have any questions, please feel free to ask. This is my skin care routine as of right now: Morning: - YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Superfood Cleanser PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA (Salicylic Acid) Liquid Exfoliator - only three times a week - The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% ( dark spot CORRECTOR - my biggest thanks goes out to this ) -DRUNK ELEPHANT - C-Firma Vitamin C Day Serum ( DONT know if I’m seeing a huge difference) I will share another post on my thoughts on vitamin C BIODERMA - Atoderm Lait - hydrating and light consistency (dries very smoothly/ not tacky) CeraVe - Mineral Sunscreen Lotion SPF 50 Face Lotion with Zinc Oxide Evening: YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Superfood Cleanser THE inkey LIST - Retinol Serum - I used the inkey list to start off my skin with retinol since it’s 0.5% retinol and 0.5% of another derivative of retinol( weaker) - now I use DRUNK ELEPHANT - A-Passioni Retinol Cream DRUNK ELEPHANT - Lala Retro Whipped Moisturizer with Ceramides Weekly mask ( once a week one at the beginning and the other at the end of the week) The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution ORIGINS - Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask to Clear Pores

Skincare Story: Acne to Eczema to Glow-Up
Skincare Story: Acne to Eczema to Glow-Up
When I started my skincare journey, I had the oiliest skin imaginable and dealt with constant hormonal breakouts. I tried every brand Sephora had to offer- each one filled with more fragrance, essential oils, and/or alcohol than the last. My skin quickly became overwhelmed and I broke out into terrible atopic dermatitis which would become chronic. And bam! I had eczema. It was... a struggle, to say the least. I went from oily to combination, with flare-ups that got me so dry I’d flake. Unpleasant. But I learned. I switched to fragrance-, essential oil-, alcohol-free skincare. Cleansers with gentle surfactants. Less exfoliation and more nourishing ingredients. Added hydrating products to reduce the dehydration that caused my oily skin and keep my now-combo skin happy. I gave my skin at least 2-4 no-actives rest days every week. My skin slowly recuperated. Now my hyperpigmentation is fading and my eczema flare-ups are less common. I still get breakouts, but they’re less painful and less long-lived. A few products (such as PAULA'S CHOICE - 10% Azelaic Acid Booster and The Ordinary - Ascorbic Acid 8% + Alpha Arbutin 2% ) are amazing for their role in reducing my hyperpigmentation, but I can’t emphasize enough how my acne and eczema flare-ups wouldn’t have improved if I hadn’t eliminated my triggers by switching brands. I stopped using fragranced brands like Origins, Fresh, Herbivore, Dr Jart, Tatcha, and Summer Fridays, and switched to biocompatible brands like Drunk Elephant, The Ordinary, The Inkey List, and Paula’s Choice. By taking out all possible irritants, my skin found peace. My acne reduced in frequency + intensity and I nowadays a combo of PAULA'S CHOICE - 10% Niacinamide Booster and PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA (Salicylic Acid) Liquid Exfoliator keeps them short-lived. Skin rest days are still important but I can’t emphasize enough that your skin is an organ and everyone should be treating it as such 🙌🏽

Retinol Saves the Day?!? (Maybe saves my skin🧐)
Retinol Saves the Day?!? (Maybe saves my skin🧐)
DRUNK ELEPHANT - A-Passioni Retinol Cream I love this DE retinol! I choose to purchase the smaller size just because it was my first time trying this product from this brand and plus it came with the B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum! I found this product to work very well with my sensitive skin in regard to the reduction of my acne scars and milia. I was first introduced to retinol (vitamin A) approximately a year ago. It's an anti-aging ingredient that helps with skin cell turnover, diminishing fine lines and wrinkles, correcting the texture of your skin, and helping the overall appearance of your skin. It's suggested to start using retinol in your early 20s. It can be super strong, so if you're just starting I would start off with using it once a week, to eventually twice a week, and then every other day. I have sensitive skin, so I like to apply a moisturizer before retinol, as a barrier between my skin and the retinol. Apply a pea sized amount (a little bit goes A LONG WAY)! DE recommends using the serum with the retinol, which I did but I didn't find it an absolute necessity. However, it's nice if you want an extra "boost" of hydration. I only use it at night just because it does make your skin sensitive to the sun. That being said, ALWAYS apply an SPF during the day even if you're inside. Although, retinol can be pricy, it lasts a very long time because you do use a small amount. I personally have not tried any drugstore retinols, but will be looking into them. As someone who suffered from acne and milia (still do) this is one product that has helped me A LOT! Remember to always do your research before trying new products. Let me know your fav retinol products!!💕
