Banish makeup to another dimension 🌀
I’m still trying to understand the double cleanse trend, but balms like this are a staple for devotees. I switched up my makeup remover from pure coconut oil to this based on reviews but I’m not zealous enough to double even once a day. While I don’t use it enough to see noticeable effects from double cleansing, I love it as a makeup remover that doesn’t dry out my skin. I personally hate the feeling micellar water and other removers feel after they’ve dried, but this leaves me feeling hydrated. It has a strong smell, which for some is a bonus, but for others a turn-off. I usually avoid fragrance because of my husband’s sensitive nose and skin, but there’s something nice about having my first product of the night give off a soothing eucalyptus scent. The scent doesn’t linger and washes away with the balm itself. This stuff annihilates makeup. As for all of the oil-based clogs you have in the drainpipes of your face, I don’t know. Again, I’m not yet convinced of double cleansing as a lifestyle choice. It really does “melt” into your skin and comes off fully, unlike its predecessor coconut oil. Like coconut oil, however, it can linger in your contacts or eyes giving you blurry vision, but it doesn’t irritate mine and I can blink it away in seconds. Now this puppy is travel sized (half an ounce) and $8, so like other versed products it’s mid-tier in price. I have found that these products seem to get used up quickly if you follow their instructions for use. My VERSED - BABY CHEEKSgoes down fast for something meant to used multiple times a day. I use this about three times a week in the PM only and this travel size has lasted me through two full weeks without panning. I anticipate I’ll end the month with it. I do recommend this as a cleansing balm, especially if you are out in the sun applying sunscreen and bug spray and campfire smoke to your pores.
I go camping a lot, but I have no problem with “glamping” in the family RV when I’m not in the mood to hoof it in the woods alone and eat granola bars and jerky to keep from starving. There’s no shame in glamping (even though the term was invented to shame the chewy granola among campers). When I glamp, I typically bring my “limbo” products: products that I don’t use daily or even like that much but have held onto so I can use them up. This trip, I’ve chosen three of my products that I like using to simplify my routine while I’m in the woods. VERSED - DAY DISSOLVE Cleansing Balm If you’re going to be out in the sun and wind all day, you need SPF and at night bug spray. You may even find yourself choking on campfire smoke all night. When you come back in after a long night, it’s easy to find yourself clogged and weighed down by all the gunk on your face. This cleansing balm is oil based and removes particles lingering in your pores. I follow this with a water based cream cleanser to make sure everything gets off my face, including campfire smoke and bug spray. VERSED - BABY CHEEKS Enter Baby Cheeks. This water based cleanser is an all in one that doesn’t fit in my regular routine but is great for mid day freshening up and taking for travel. It does the same job as a makeup remover, cleanser, and toner. While I don’t love it, it does help with the above and takes the place of multiple products when traveling. Even glamping you don’t have a lot of time or energy to doing a full routine of products, and this will hold you over while you’re away from home. e.l.f. - Oil Control Primer Mist I’ve reviewed this product before for my Take A Hike test. It’s a bit tacky for my daily use (I typically only wear a BB Cream and don’t usually mess with primer) but this stuff helps control sweat on your face even if used without makeup. Summer is a popular time for camping of all types, unless you’re crazy like me and winter camp as well, so sweat is inevitable whether you’re on a hot climate or hiking in the cold. Putting this on at the start of my day makes my face stay drier longer.
I feel like a baby trying to use this 🍼
I truly do feel like a baby using this, but for two reasons: it does soften my cheeks but I also feel like I can’t seem to use it right, like a baby trying to put a square peg in a circle hole. This VERSED - BABY CHEEKS milk is truly an all in one, but that’s part of the problem. You’ll see a lot of reviews that say “it really gave me baby soft cheeks” and I can echo that. This however is somehow too many things in one, and although it does make your cheeks baby soft I don’t know how I would ever use it in my routine. Is it an all in one? It claims to be a cleanser, makeup remover, and toner. Let’s see how it does in each of those. Cleanser? Yes, but it lacks the strength of my regular cream cleanser. I don’t feel completely cleansed when using it. Makeup Remover? Yes, but it’s OP (overpowered and overpriced) for a makeup cleanser. I use it to remove my makeup when I have light makeup on. Toner? Yes, this is its best feature. It really does leave your skin soft. So what’s the problem, Barb, if it really does all of those things? I don’t really know if I want to use to replace three different products in my routine. It works okay as a cleanser, okay as a makeup remover, and okay as a toner. If you wanted to you could use only this and then a moisturizer, but that seems lacking — it’s not quite enough for me to feel cleansed and hydrated all day like my regular products. Should I use it as just a toner? Or a cleanser? ...maybe? Again, it’s pricey for a toner without more actives in it and underpowered for a cleanser. So what do I do with it? Mainly I use it to freshen up after a long day before my nighttime routine. That’s all I can really figure to do with it.
NEW (to me) BRAND REVIEW: Versed
I picked up these 2 products from Target bc I’d heard about Versed and was only missing these 2 things in my routine. I won’t lie, I didn’t get my hopes up for either. I will say, I love the branding and packaging for these. The names are so cute, similar to how I think Glossier does a great job naming products. Baby cheeks hydrating milk: I use this as a toner step, after cleansing and again after exfoliating. I really like it because if I don’t like to use exfoliating toners because I have dry skin. The texture is beautiful. I don’t think it’s a must have, but for me I want to have that hydrating toner step in between steps so I love it! Not sure I’d repurchase because I’d like to try some K Beauty soothing and hydrating toners, but this was nice to be able to pick up in my neighborhood and bring home right away. Stroke of Brilliance serum: I underestimated this puppy! It’s thick and viscous and I think truly has made a difference in a brighter appearance and taking away my usual dullness. It’s a thick product but sinks in nicely and smells like licorice. I also didn’t know about licorice root before I bought this, but now it’s one of my favorite ingredients! I’d definitely repurchase this. What are your thoughts on Versed products?
MY SKINCARE CABINET
i love collecting skincare and i always have more on the way..... these are my current products!!! highlights include: SUNDAY RILEY - Luna Retinol Sleeping Night Oil literally anyone who thinks retinol may be too much for their sensitive skin should use this product first. retinol is said to dry the skin, but this product contains calming ingredients such as blue tansy and german chamomile. this is such a great starter product for retinol and i’ve repurchased! Then I met you - The Giving Essence this is new for me. i’ve been using it for a couple weeks now, and i love it! it makes my skin feel so fresh honestly and sandwiched between my toner and my serum i feel like this works wonders. Then I met you - Living Cleansing Balm also new for me! it feels so luxurious and i love it. it smells so nice and clean. i’ll use this when i have a heavy makeup day instead of my TATCHA - Pure One Step Camellia Oil Cleanser (which is also amazing for the first step of a double cleanse). DRUNK ELEPHANT - T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Resurfacing Night Serum it’s amazing. this in tandem with the sunday riley mask (mentioned below) saved my skin. any breakouts now are gone within 3 days after sprouting on my skin. it feels nice and a little goes a long way! SON & PARK - Beauty Water i use this in the morning after cleansing in the shower and i feel like it just gives me the freshest face before applying serums and sunscreen. it smells like citrus and removes any dead skin cells from your skin. it also looks so minimalistic and pretty. SUNDAY RILEY - Saturn Sulfur Acne Treatment Mask if you know me, you know this is my holy grail mask. it literally cleared the texture on my forehead (i believe it was fungal acne). i use this 1-2 times a week, but lately i’ve been doing research and find that this may be discontinued? it’s never in stock online anywhere... which worries me. VERSED - BABY CHEEKS this is my favorite toner to use right after working out. it makes my skin feel fresh and rids the skin of the dirty sweat that just seeped out of my pores. RENÉE ROULEAU - Anti Bump Solution (formerly named Anti Cyst Treatment) i use this almost every night (probably 4-5 times a week) in spots that i usually break out in. it keeps my chin from breaking out really badly which is an amazing quality to find in a product when wearing a mask for a 12-hour shift. HERO COSMETICS - Rescue Balm sooooo great especially for that price point! think neosporin but specifically for pimples and zits. it clears them nearly overnight. comment for any other specific reviews you wanna hear! i have more products on the way that i’d love to talk about as well. :)
PEACE OUT-Acne Healing Dots
Baby Cheeks All In One
Baby Cheeks is here to change your skincare game! I’ve been using this toner for about 2 weeks now and holy moly has this been a game changer for me. This is a an all in one product that cleanses, removes makeup, and tones the skin. I’ve been using this strictly as a toner. I had previously used Thayers, which I had to stop using because it was super drying. This toner does the opposite and has returned the life back to parched skin. I have sensitive skin and this has been super gentle. After use I notice that my skin has an immediate moisturized glowy look. I have also noticed that my skin hasn’t broken out and since I first began using it and my skin has been super soft and smooth. I am so pleased with the results of this baby 👶🏻 (get it 😉😆) This has already earned HG status for me.VERSED - BABY CHEEKS
