DERMATOLOGIST OPINION: Acne cleansers
A dermatologist goes to the drugstore and helps point out which cleansers are worth it for acne and which should be skipped. The first 3 scrubs in this video contain beads which can be harsh to the skin and cause microtears. Think of it like washing your face with sandpaper. For acne prone skin, look for a cleanser that has acne fighting ingredients (like benzoyl peroxide) but is also gentle to the skin and is without harsh scrubs Here are some examples of my favorite drugstore acne cleansers: Panoxyl cleanser or Cerave acne foaming cleanser PanOxyl - Acne Creamy Wash Benzoyl Peroxide 4% Daily Control CeraVe - Acne Foaming Cream Cleanser What do you use for your cleanser? Worth the hype! Saved my skin!
Hey beauties! I know it’s been a while; I’ve been dealing with a bad breakout on my forehead and had to get new products that would help me. Recently, I’ve been using Fenty skin and only them, but when I started lacking on my consistency of the routine, my breakout appeared! It was crazy and I wish I took pictures to show how good this item “PanOxyl - Acne Creamy Wash Benzoyl Peroxide 4% Daily Control ” is. Let’s get into it 🥰 Panoxyl has been the hype and my new fave word - the rave of social media. It has been circulating mainly on Tik Tok, which I am addicted to lol. I noticed people with extreme, to less severe acne have been using this and it clears their skin up, ok period! After my recent breakout over the week, I decided I HAVE to try it, I couldn’t walk outside with bumps on my forehead anymore. I’m going to discuss the background of it, before going forward with my review on it and how it’s worked. 💗 What is it? Panoxyl is a acne creamy wash that has the main ingredient of Benzoyl Peroxide. I bought one with 4% since my skin is not only sensitive, but has eczema 😭. But I’m a little risky, so I decided to try it but still make sure I got the lowest percent they had at my local Walmart. Benzoyl Peroxide is works to treat, and prevent acne by killing bacteria under the skin: as well as helping the pores shed dead skin, and excess sebum (oil). It has other main ingredients, but this one is KEY, you hear me? 💗 Who can use it? Anyone can sis! Just make sure you’re not pregnant or breastfeeding, if you are refer to a doctor beforehand. If burning occurs, stop immediately and ask your doctor. It says on the product to not use if you have extreme sensitive skin, but for me it doesn’t bother me whatsoever. Keep in mind, everyone’s skin is different. Just because it doesn’t irritate me, doesn’t mean it won’t irritate you. 💗 Where can I use it? Your face, chest, back. Basically, anywhere on your body. Now, let’s talk about my personal thoughts and opinions. When I first started it, it was 2 days ago and I used it only once, at night because that’s when I bought it. It says to use it once until you feel comfortable using it day and night. At this point, my acne was bad bad! I’m talking, I didn’t want to go out the house. When I have a breakout, I avoid wearing make up to further irritate my acne so I had no option of covering it! You’re probably wondering how my skin is now, SIS. My forehead pimples haven’t completely disappeared but they are 10x better than what it was. I’m in awe at how fast acting this product is. It definitely lived up to the hype, and is saving me! I also make sure to put moisturizer on straight after because this product can leave you very dry! The second product in the picture is just for the ✨aesthetic✨ lol. MAKE SURE YOU’RE KEEPING YOUR LIPS HYDRATED IN THIS COLD WEATHER! Let me know if you’ve seen this product circulating, or if you have any thoughts on it. Talk to ya soon baby’s 💕

Dr. Mina emphasizes and has a great list of products that can be mixed and that can’t so please check it out! Basically, they should be use oppositely in your routine! 🔑Benzoyl Peroxide is your friend for acne all over! Dr. Cula and Dr. Mina basically love this ingredient and they recommended PanOxyl! 🔑Lastly, you don’t need an eye cream! Dr. Mina recommended the Inkey List Caffeine Eye Cream! Derm Approved✨Back Acne Treatments🎉🎉
Back acne, or bacne, can sometimes be difficult to treat. It also can be quite embarrassing for some people, especially teenagers. It is similar to face acne, in that it is caused by excess oil production and dead skin cells that block the pores. When bacteria gets trapped in the pores, the acne can be more inflamed and tender. There are many reasons why people get back acne. Medications Hormones Stress Sweat and dirt Hygiene Genetics Here are some of the best over the counter (OTC) products to help treat back acne. Salicylic acid (SA) wash or spot treatment- My favorites are Neutrogena - Oil-Free Acne Wash and OXY - Acne Medication Deep Pore Cleansing Pads SA is great at controlling oil production and getting rid of dead skin cells that clog our pores. It is a mild product and a good starting place for mild acne or patients with sensitive skin. Benzoyl peroxide (BP) wash or spot treatment- I like PanOxyl - Acne Creamy Wash Benzoyl Peroxide 4% Daily Control and Neutrogena - On-the-Spot Acne Treatment BP is also great at getting rid of dead skin cells and controlling excess oil production. It can a more irritating to your skin, so start off using it slowly. It can also bleach your clothing, sheets and towels, so be careful. Retinoids - LA ROCHE-POSAY - Effaclar Adapalene Gel .01% Topical Retinoid Acne Treatmentand Differin Gel are the OTC products I like best. These are great products for getting rid of dead skin cells and unclogging pores. Retinoids can be irritating, so start out using it infrequently til you can build up to using it every night. Retinoids are also great at fading the dark spot that acne leaves behind. Here are some tips to help alleviate back acne. 1. Wear sweat-wicking clothes or loose fitting clothing 2. Make sure backpacks or sports equipment doesn’t constantly rub against your back. 3. Wash immediately after sports or working outside 4. Use oil free, non-comedogenic products - that includes moisturizers, sunscreens, makeup 5. Do not pick 6. Eat a healthy diet low in carbs and dairy 7. Clean your clothing after every use. Clean your towels and bedsheets/pillowcases at least twice a week 8. Keep your hair off your back 9. If you cannot reach areas of your back to apply acne meds, use a lotion applicator. 10. Clean sports or gym equipment before and after using it. If over the counter meds and these tips do not keep your acne under control, please seek help from a dermatologist to prevent permanent scars.

My night time routine!
I love my skin but it has taken a long time to get to where I am. I’ve had this exact routine for over a year now and I’m loving the results! My skin is combo/mostly oily and I used to have terrible and painful hormonal cystic acne. Here is what I use on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday... First I take off my eye makeup with GARNIER - SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water All-in-1 Cleanser & Makeup Remover . Then I do my first cleanse to remove the rest of my makeup with bliss - Makeup Melt Jelly Cleanser . This does a great job of removing everything without stripping or drying out my skin. My second cleanse is PanOxyl - Acne Creamy Wash Benzoyl Peroxide 4% Daily Control . This was recommended to me by my dermatologist and it has been so great for my breakouts! Next step is toner which I use pixi - Glow Tonic . This is a chemical exfoliator so I don’t recommend using it everyday right away- always build up slowly. Glow tonic has done amazing things to keep my skin glowing! I have very dry under eyes so CeraVe - Eye Repair Cream keeps them hydrated for sure! My next step is retinol which I use a dermatologist prescribed tretinoin cream. Lastly I finish up with e.l.f. - Holy Hydration! Face Cream - Fragrance Free . This cream is not too heavy or too light. It’s just the perfect amount of moisture for my oily skin. What do I use on Wednesday and Saturday you ask? Well let me tell you! On Wednesdays and Saturdays I remove my makeup all the same but I double cleanse with Neutrogena - Ultra Gentle Hydrating Cleanser instead of panoxyl. I will need the extra hydration for what comes next... Wednesday I use AZTEC SECRET - Indian Healing Clay . I love this mask to help keep my oily skin and acne on check! Saturday’s I use The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution . This is truly the best at getting rid of dead skin and cleaning out those pores. On these two nights I skip the rest of my routine and just go straight to moisturizer. I like to use CeraVe - CeraVe Moisturising Cream because the clay and peel leave my skin dry and it’s heavier than the elf holy hydration which my skin needs on those two nights. That’s it! I hope you guys found this somewhat helpful on your skincare journey ❤️

My Mental Wellness Improved Through My Self AcceptanceWhen I was around 13 or 14 years old, I remember routinely taking one of my older sister’s black eyeliner pencils before school every morning. I’d arrive early so that I could slip away to the girl’s bathroom to apply a single black line to my eyelids. My parents didn’t allow me to wear any makeup at the time. Although this smudgy line on my eyelids didn’t make me look all that much different, I never felt comfortable at school without it. My teenage mind convinced myself that I needed some sort of cosmetic symbol in order to appropriately express my femininity. Up until that point in my life, society had told girls that looked like me - tall, Black, and with kinky hair - that we somehow weren’t as beautiful as the other girls. For far too long, I believed it too.Feb. 17
