My FAV Foundation for my Skin #CheriePartner
Hey Y’all! So I don’t wear foundation often but when I do I only go for two different ones. Which is The Fenty Foundation (dewy formula) or NYX - Total Control Drop Foundation which is what I’ll be talking about today! 🤎 When looking for a foundation I usually always go for a dewy look. I’m not a huge fan of matte anything. The thing I like about the Total Control drop foundation is that it’s soft matte but can be easily manipulated to give a more dewy look. 🤎 I love the Total Control drop foundation simply because a little goes a long way! I have sensitive combination skin and foundation tends to irritate it. But with this foundation I have found solace! It goes on super smooth and I only need a few drops. I usually go for light coverage as you can see from the pictures. The dropper definitely helps in controlling how much foundation you need. 🤎 Another great thing is that NYX is super affordable and the same applies to this foundation! It’s only about $14 and because you only need a little it lasts for quite a while. I’ve had this bottle for about 6 months and it’s still has a lot! 🤎 When applying the foundation I simply put 1-2 drops on the back of my hand and take NYX - Holographic Halo Liquid Highlighting Brush and dip it in the foundation and just buff it over my skin. I like this brush but I don’t love it. I know it’s a highlighter brush but I just haven’t found a foundation brush that cuts it for me. I would love some suggestions if you guys have some! 🤎 After buffing out the foundation with the brush I take a beauty blender and dip it in the foundation as well to cover any spots I miss. Then I spray the beauty blender with NYX - Dewy Finish Makeup Setting Spray and just blend out a little more this helps add a little bit of a dewy sheen to the foundation. I absolutely love the Dewy Finish setting spray it gives me everything I’m looking for! ✨ In conclusion this foundation is really good and it helps blur out imperfections and has a very buildable formula so it works anywhere from light to full coverage! You can leave it as a soft matte as is or add a nice setting spray to give you any look you desire! ✨I’d love to hear your tips and tricks on foundation and good foundation brush recommendations! ✨ BESOS 😘

Cheapest sponge I’ve ever found!
AOA studio - AOA Wonder Blender This sponge is only $1!!! When wet, it expands about 50% and gets super soft and fluffy. It does absorb a lot of product so I tend to use this for concealer when I’m needing to remove the excess. When compared to the beauty blender, it expands to be much larger, gets much softer, and absorbs more product. The Wonder Blender also has a shorter longevity. This sponge is really starting to show some wear after about a month, where I can use a beauty blender for about 6 months. The wonder blender is still cheaper in the end but be aware you may have to replace it sooner than you think! I would recommend this if you feel like you’re spending too much money replacing your sponges multiple times a year. $3-$4 per year and you’ll be covered depending on how often you like to replace!

My fool proof routine for the perfect base!
Forming a base routine can be so tricky, time consuming, and expensive! Especially with my combo skin! When I wear foundation this is the routine I follow. After my skincare has had a few minutes to soak in, I start with sunscreen! Sunscreen over long term use is going to help your skin look more even and bright! It’s so much easier to get the glass skin effect when you don’t have dark spots or an uneven tan. I’ve been using the LANCÔME - Absolue Premium BX Regenerating and Replenishing Care SPF 15 Skincare but there are certainly cheaper options out there! (I’m a big fan of the COOLA - Classic Face Sunscreen Moisturizer SPF 50 ) Next, I spread the LANEIGE - Glowy Makeup Serum all over my face. It’s very emollient and spreads easily on the face without being oily, so I feel comfortable even using this around my t zone! Then I fill in my pores with the e.l.f. - Poreless Putty Primer Moving my finger in circular motions I apply this to my t zone: inner cheeks, center of the forehead and chin. This is typically when I would apply eyeshadow, but I only used one shade in my crease today to focus on the face. It’s the ANASTASIA Beverly Hills - Norvina Eyeshadow Palette shades Love and Incense mixed. Then I move to the under eyes. I use the BECCA - Under Eye Brightening Corrector Because I am fair to light and have a pink - neutral undertone this works as a concealer for me! If you are yellow or strictly neutral this may not work for you! I use my finger to gently pat this on my under eye starting towards the inner corner and blending outward. Next is foundation. I use the AOA studio - AOA Wonder Blender This is the best beauty blender dupe I’ve ever found and it’s only like $1. I pump two pumps of the ESTĒE LAUDER - Double Wear Stay-in-Place Foundation on the back of my hand and start blending it out using a sponge. I do make sure to blend it on down my neck so I don’t get a foundation line. I am in the shade Ecru. Then I dip into my NATASHA DENONA - Diamond & Blush Palette . Still using the sponge, I blend the cream blush (top middle shade) into my cheeks starting at the top of my cheekbone towards the hairline. This helps prevent getting a lot of product in the middle of your face where we want to bring light! With my finger I blend the cream highlight (top left) over the blush at the very top of my cheekbone. I usually line this up with the outer corner of my eye. If you’re a bronzer person like me, you can apply bronzer using a fluffy brush to your temples, nose, and outer perimeter of your forehead. I use the BECCA - Sunlit Bronzer because it has a sheen that makes it look so natural! This is the shade Bronzed Bondi. I finish by dusting a light amount of the Coty Airspun Powder #cheriepartner

A+ Base Products
Starting off with a good base is important because it sets the foundation (no pun intended!) for the rest of your makeup. Whether you like more coverage or less coverage, make sure you take the time to prep your skin with products that you love and work for your skin. Let your skincare and SPF sink in for several minutes at minimum before applying any makeup! About me: fair/light neutral-ish undertones, dry skin Preferred foundation coverage: medium Preferred concealer coverage: medium - full Primer: Choose a primer that aligns with your skin type and desired effect. Because I have dry skin, I tend to avoid mattifying/oil controlling primers. I do like pore-filling ones near my nose and cheeks, and hydrating ones for winter time. My year-round pick is the touch in SOL - No Poreblem Primer .This primer has a smooth, silicone-y texture that does blur pores a bit without mattifying or sucking moisture out of my face. Mine’s half empty! $18 Foundation: I prefer a natural finish to foundations. I really love the URBAN DECAY - Stay Naked Weightless Foundation (30NN) because it provides medium buildable coverage while being insanely lightweight. It feels like nothing on my skin. It also works with different types of primers. I recommend this because it’s long-wearing and has a great shade range. I’m not a high end foundation gal, but this one is worth it. $39 Concealer: I’ve been using the ELF camo line for a while. e.l.f. - Hydrating Camo Concealer (light peach) and I really love it. It’s got medium coverage right out the gate and can be built up. Wears well. The price is unbeatable at about $6! Powders: I have under eye lines and all concealers crease/settle in. It is what it is. I’ve been using the essence - Brighten Up! Banana Powder for a few years now. It’s got a slight yellow tint to it that adds just a touch of brightness. My concealer is locked in all day and doesn’t look dry or cakey. I wouldn’t suggest it for deeper skin tones, though. $5 For all-over or targeted face powder, I like the Milk MAKEUP - Blur + Set Matte Loose Setting Powder loose powder. You get a ton of product for the price ($29 for 29g) and it’s available in a few shades (mine is “translucent light”). It’s a good powder for all skin, but especially dry, because it doesn’t emphasize dry patches. I don’t necessarily use the UD foundation and this powder together (though I have and it’s great); however, I like to use this powder with dewier foundations or to tame any mid-day oils. Beauty blender dupes ✨
The first makeup sponge I used was the beauty blender pro sponge. I loved it so much. I used it every single day to blend my foundations, blushes, and powders. After using it so much it started looking old and I realized I definitely didn’t want to spend $20 for a sponge. I started trying out so many affordable ones and lots of them didn’t work until... Real techniques miracle complexion sponge, when it’s dry it feels slightly stiff but still nice and soft to the touch. When you wet it it becomes super soft. It blends my foundation very well, similar to the beauty blender at a 1/3 of the price! One of my favorite sponges so far! $5.99 and I’ve found these at marshalls and tj maxx for about $3-4! REAL TECHNIQUES - Miracle Complexion Sponge Hank & Henry midori sponge set, I got this sponge set in my boxycharm and I really like it. The set had the large and small sponge. Slighter stiffer than the real techniques but a nice sponge. The small one is perfect for blending on the inner corners or any hard to reach area. The large sponge gets HUGE when it’s wet, great for apply blush in my opinion and anything you want. Even if it’s kinda stiff this is still very soft. Unfortunately online they’re sold separately $14.00 for the large sponge and $9.00 for the small one. HANK & HENRY - Midori Bundle Miss A AOA studio super soft wonder blender, one of the best really affordable sponges I’ve tried. It’s really soft and blends like a dream. Very very slight stiffness when dry but super soft when wet. Haven’t had any problems with this one. $1.55! I didn’t have mines with me so I attached a picture of it. AOA studio - AOA Wonder Blender Last and definitely not least the original beauty blender in pro, super soft to the touch and incredible at blending. The hype is real. $20 beautyblender - Pro If you want to spend $20 every few months then this sponge is worth it, super great! If you’re like me that prefers a more affordable one than these options are great as well. These all feel great on the skin, blend your makeup and at the end of my makeup routine I’ve found that these all look very similar and almost identical to each other. ☺️✨

Biggest mistake I used to make with my makeup
The biggest mistake I used to make with my makeup is over-powdering. I am an oily person, but actually much less oily than I was in my teenage years. Instead of adjusting my powder usage to change with my skin, I just kept piling it onto my face. This would suck the life and glow out of my face. How I fixed it. When I started to realize I was over-powdering, I began experimenting with not setting my face at all. I realized very quickly that wasn’t for me. Instead, I switched to a different powder application method. I swirled my fluffy powder brush into my powder and make sure I get an even amount on the whole brush. Then, I make sure to tap it off several times to make sure all the excess product is off. Holding the brush at the end of the handle, I lightly stroke my T Zone and jaw line. If I feel like that still added too much powder or if I’m just super dry that day, I will spray my AOA studio - AOA Wonder Blender with some MAC - MAC Prep + Prime Fix+ Finishing Mist and bounce that around on my face. That will add some life and glow back into my skin! The first photo is how I currently do my makeup, second photo is my dry and lifeless face after packing on the powder like I used to. #cheriepartner

My Mental Wellness Improved Through My Self AcceptanceWhen I was around 13 or 14 years old, I remember routinely taking one of my older sister’s black eyeliner pencils before school every morning. I’d arrive early so that I could slip away to the girl’s bathroom to apply a single black line to my eyelids. My parents didn’t allow me to wear any makeup at the time. Although this smudgy line on my eyelids didn’t make me look all that much different, I never felt comfortable at school without it. My teenage mind convinced myself that I needed some sort of cosmetic symbol in order to appropriately express my femininity. Up until that point in my life, society had told girls that looked like me - tall, Black, and with kinky hair - that we somehow weren’t as beautiful as the other girls. For far too long, I believed it too.Feb. 17
