Dermatologist opinion: facial oil dupe
Marula oil is extracted from the marula tree nut found in Africa. Benefits of marula oil: ✔️Rich in antioxidants- which help fight off free radicals from pollution and UV exposure. ✔️Anti-aging – the antioxidants also help with its anti-aging properties to help keep the skin looking youthful. ✔️Rich in fatty acids- (oleic and linoleic fatty acids) that soften and moisturize the skin. ✔️Lightweight - What’s great about marula oil is that it hydrates the skin and absorbs well without being too heavy or greasy. ✔️Immediate glow- I definitely notice my skin is radiating after I wear this oil. I love to use this instead of a moisturizer as a last step in my nighttime skincare routine, especially during the winter months! DRUNK ELEPHANT - Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil Drunk elephant - $72. yes the packaging is beautiful, but that price point is way too high. It only has one ingredient: marula oil. Why is it so expensive? It is likely due to the processing. It is cold pressed with a patented process of unheated extraction. It is unclear if this process is necessary to maintain all of the benefits of marula oil. The Ordinary - 100% Cold Pressed Virgin Marula Oil Ordinary- $8. Also 100% cold pressed marula oil. The processing may be slightly different. The application is a little less light weight, and for this reason slower to absorb, but still blends easily into the skin and gives an immediate glow. Final thoughts: after trying both, I would choose the ordinary product because they are both so similar! What would you choose?

How to Use Retinoids Without Wrecking Your Skin
Retinoids are amazing. Whether you’re using adapalene (Differin) to treat acne, over-the-counter retinols to prevent signs of aging or correct hyperpigmentation, or plan to start tretinoin (Retin-A) for both, retinoids are exciting and have decades of research to back up their efficacy. But they can be a bit tricky- after all, almost anyone who turns to retinoids is warned of flaking, dryness, purging, redness, irritation... side effects galore. Except, it’s honestly pretty easy to avoid most of those. The purging is somewhat inevitable due to how retinoids work, but mixing retinol with an oil or applying an oil in the same routine can help stave off a lot (if not all) of the irritation, redness, flaking, and/or dryness. Oils help to fortify the skin barrier with fatty acids, as well as seal in the moisture from your hydrating serums and/or your moisturizer. I figured this tip out after accidentally forgetting to apply an oil (a usual part of my PM routine) with my tretinoin and immediately experienced flaking around my nose. Here are my favourite retinol+oil combos... The Ordinary - Retinol 1% in Squalane is my favourite over-the-counter retinol, melding two wonderful and simple ingredients: squalane and retinol. They offer three concentrations, beginning at 0.2%, then 0.5%, and finally 1%. I saw no irritation slowly making my way between the various concentrations, the squalane drying down to a lovely satin finish if you use in the AM before sunscreen. THE inkey LIST - Rosehip Oil applied after my Apostrophe Tretinoin has helped immensely- I didn’t notice any flaking/dryness until the night I forgot to apply it after my tret, which is impressive! I also haven’t experienced any redness or increased sensitivity, which I credit partly to this oil (also partly to my soothing serums). It’s already been helping with my acne and hyperpigmentation, as well as some tiny bumpy texture that has been persistently plaguing my forehead since before the beginning of my skincare journey years ago. DRUNK ELEPHANT - Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil applied after DRUNK ELEPHANT - Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil is a dream team combination for aging, dry skin- as well as a wonderful way to correct texture and tone! I can’t recommend this specific combination enough for helping with uneven texture and uneven tone. It lightened some of my dark spots and really helped smooth the orange peel texture on my chin, with the oil keeping a lot of the dryness at bay.

Drunk Elephant Hair & Body Line... On Your Face?
Did y’all know that legitimately every product from the new Drunk Elephant release can be used on the face? That’s how biocompatible and “clean” they are. I will be reviewing the other three products (Shampoo, Conditioner, Deodorant) as facial products as well, since they were also cleared as face-safe 👀 DRUNK ELEPHANT - T.L.C. Happi Scalp Scrub - Babyfacial a bit too much for you? Try Happi Scalp as a once-per-week 10-minute peel, blending physical and chemical exfoliation for baby-soft skin AND a refreshed scalp. The cellulose beads were a gentle and non-irritating scrub that I’m excited to use again! I liked this a lot and feel like the AHA concentration is low enough to allow me to use it once per week versus the two week wait between Babyfacial uses my sensitive skin requires. DRUNK ELEPHANT - Wild Marula Tangle Spray - It makes my hair soft, it makes my face soft, it fits in my purse without threatening to spill, and it’s only $25 USD. I used this as a moisturizing facial spray quite a few times when it was released, but now it’s gotten too hot and humid for liberal oil application on my combo self. But if you have dry skin, this would be an easy way to refresh your skin mid-day. Spritz, pat, enjoy your dewiness. DRUNK ELEPHANT - Kamili Cream Body Cleanser - Beste No 9 a bit too much for your dry skin? Since it’s a cream cleanser, I find Kamili leaves my skin very soft while still cleansing effectively. Since I’m lazy, this has been my go-to shower cleanser for face and body. It did have trouble removing makeup so I’d stick to using it in the AM, after the gym, or when you’re only wearing sunscreen.

Drunk elephant brand spotlight!
The drunk elephant b hydra intensive hydration serum is like a cool drink of water for thirsty skin! This can be solutions for dryness, dullness, uneven texture, and uneven skin tone. The texture of this is a lightweight gel that can be mixed with any other oils or serums or can be used alone! I have been using this since May because I recieved it for my birthday and I use this product every time I do my skincare, basically every single day! This is my favorite serum and probably one of my favorite skincare products I have ever used! It is so hydrating for my dry skin, and didn’t break me out. This gave me amazing results in my skins dryness and I will never stop using it! It is a little more pricey but is 100% worth the money! It is $48 for 1.69oz which is a good amount The drunk elephant protini polypeptide moisturizer is a protein moisturizer that combines an unprecedented array and concentration of actives for improvement in the appearance of skins tone, texture, and firmness! It can be solutions for redness, loss of firmness and elasticity, dryness, and dullness and uneven texture. It is great for normal, and oily skin types! The texture of this moisturizer is a thick gel cream, that is very cooling on the skin. I really don’t like this moisturizer and especially for the price. It isn’t hydrating at all and makes my skin greasy. I purchased the littles set from drunk elephant that came with this, but will not be repurchasing! I would definitely not recommend this to others with dry or combo skin! It is not worth it at all, it is so pricey, it’s $68 for 1.69oz. The drunk elephant c tango eye cream is a great one to help moisturize my under eyes in the winter! I love using this at night because my eyes are so hydrated when I wake up the next morning! It is so thick and creamy and makes my under eyes so soft as well! The packaging is so cute and this mini size is great for travel! It is very pricy and sadly won’t be repurchasing because I have other eye creams that do the same things as this one and some that I even like better! Drunk elephant virgin marula facial oil! I love using this oil in my skincare routine so much! I love mixing this with all different Serums for a lot of hydration! I love mixing it with my b hydra serum and my tlc franboos serum from drunk elephant! I definitely see a difference in my skin when I use this! It is great for the winter months! The drunk elephant t.l.c framboos is a an AHA/BHA night serum that refined skin to reveal a smoother and more radiant complexion. It enhances the performance of other products by clearing the way for maximum absorption! It is a gel serum that resurfaces dull skin, gentle lifting dead skin cells away be dissolving the glue that holds them to the surface! It has done wonders for my skin and will forever be repurchasing! Drunk elephant is a brand that I have always been really interested in! I first found in from a friend who showed me all about it about 2 years ago! I immediately got there littles set that they had at the time and loved most of the products! I have now repurchased about 5 of there products in full size and will never stop using the b hydra, tlc, the marula oil! They have been some of my favorite products ever! I definitely recommend drunk elephant to anyone who has never heard and haven’t tried this brand at all, they have amazing products for all skin types!DRUNK ELEPHANT - Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil DRUNK ELEPHANT - T.L.C. Holy Grail Face Oil
Luxurious is the perfect adjective for the Drunk Elephant Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil. I’ll be honest - I was not a fan AT ALL of facial oils before this one. I have combination skin; mostly oily with some dry patches here & there. I tried a handful of facial oils from other brands and I always looked like I stood in front of a fryer for 23 hours. When I received the DE Littles kit a few months ago, I figured I would give facial oil one more chance; I created my first DE smoothie using protini, 2 pumps of b-hydra and 2 drops of the Marula oil - I was in love. My skin felt so nourished, soft, and hydrated. I couldn’t stop touching my face, saying “wow” to myself! Fast forward to today, I mix 2-3 drops each night for my night time routine. This facial oil is a must have for me & definitely here to stay. 💛 There are absolutely no additives - Drunk Elephant takes the ingredient straight from the Marula fruit leaving it untouched, delivering a product to consumers that is in its purest form. Loaded with beneficial antioxidants and omegas 6 & 9, this facial oil seeps into the skin to help reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, redness, and blotchiness, while giving you youthful, hydrated glow. I should also add that this product is versatile considering it can also be used for your nail cuticles and hair. Available in several sizes, the price point ranges from $40-$72, but Drunk Elephant also has gift sets and kits that contain mini sizes of this product (which will last you awhile). I also love the packaging / component of this product; it certainly gives you luxury vibes. The minis come in a pump component, where as the midi and full size come in a luxurious glass dropper. I 100% believe the price is right, especially since there is a variety of sizes ranging in price to accommodate whatever budget it is that you may have. I am a firm believer that skincare is a worthy investment; your makeup only looks as good as what is underneath.

Just some thoughts on DE products i’ve tried so far. 𝐦𝐲 𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐲𝐩𝐞: combo, acne prone, sensitive 🌱𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐢: i think it’s an awesome moisturizer! beautiful texture and really seals in everything. Again, we don’t know if the peptides actually work per application but I like how this feels on skin more than any other (thick, sealing) cream I have so i’m giving it a higher rating. It tends to make me oilier than usual when used during the day so I only put it on at night. Is it worth the price tho? absolutely not. ~ coconut alkanes❗️ 𝐀𝐥𝐭: @cerave night renewing cream, thicker but has ceramides and shorter ingredient list 🌞𝐂 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐦𝐚: totally just did not work for me. Too heavy, made skin very oily and only exacerbated my acne. I think it’ll work better for dry skin. ~ i’m probably one of the few people who don’t buy the company’s 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐞𝐫-𝐩𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭 & 𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 claims 🤷🏻♀️ show us comparative data? 𝐀𝐥𝐭: @cerave vitamin c serum- way cheaper 💧𝐁-𝐡𝐲𝐝𝐫𝐚: decent product. does nothing special than any drugstore hydrators. gives good hydration for my oily skin but may not be sufficient for dry skin. has pineapple, watermelon, apple extracts so has more potential to cause irritation. 𝐀𝐥𝐭: @hadalabotokyo lotions, @neutrogena hydroboost, @pyunkangyul essence lotion 🌹*gift 𝐀-𝐏𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐢: it’s OKAY. I just don’t see the point of wasting $74 on a retinol if you can have @differinus adapalane ($14, for acne) or @curology tretinoin ($20, acne, anti aging) that are proven more effective and already in their active state? I guess it’s for those who can’t tolerate these retinoids and don’t mind shelling out 💸🙈 🌻𝐂-𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐨: pure luxury, unnecessary. the protini itself makes a good eye cream. 🌼𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐮𝐥𝐚 𝐨𝐢𝐥: scam. buy @deciem instead. Overall, I think it’s a good fragrance-free (also cruelty-free) but overhyped brand. None of these delivers anything substantial to justify their prices🙈
