Combination/Eczema-prone AM skincare routine 🌞
Combination/Eczema-prone AM skincare routine 🌞
It was challenging to fit all this info into 1 min, but sis we made it! Step 1: Tone GRAYDON - Face Food Mineral Mist Step 2: Boost hydration Mad Hippie - Vitamin C Serum when I mentioned that it’s not necessarily my favourite serum, it’s because I’ve had high expectations for it due to the other serums I’ve used. Step 3: Nourish the skin PUUR Ingrid - Repair Booster I was introduced to all of these products through working in two separate clean, ethical skincare shops. I recently had to resign from my most recent job, as it no longer served me, so I now feel even more freedom to post my honest opinions, whether it’s expressing how much I like a product that I didn’t sell or how a specific product from my old workplace disappointed me 🌈🙃 * prices are in CAD

My Eczema Solutions
My Eczema Solutions
Restocking on empties of my recent favourites that I’ve been using since February. At first I was only using them on my face, but as I had a developing eczema rash since January, I was ready to try anything. Since the Face Food mist (hydrating, anti-pollution toner) is packed with anti-inflammatory, collagen-enhancing minerals (silver, copper, zinc, magnesium) & the Putty (pUH-tee 😜) pomade contains soothing colloidal oatmeal and restorative ingredients (honey, turmeric, zinc, hemp oil), I realized the results would be quite obvious. After all, these two products from a clinically-proven superfood Canadian skincare line have been beneficial for dry and inflammatory faces. Besides your skincare is encouraged to be applied onto your neck too... ✨ which I never previously considered much. So look at the results after about 3 weeks of use, starting near the end of March (my neck looked like it did in February, but a bit worse throughout most of March, so I just didn’t focus on taking “progress” pics because I was hopeless with the eczema.) Within a few days of mixing the two products in my palm first and then applying on my neck for better absorption, I noticed that, unlike other eczema balms, I only needed to apply the mixture on twice a day, morning and night, that’s how moisturizing it is at a CELLULAR level! I have fallen in love with this stuff, it also smells great (FF: vanilla, P: cream oats,) so I decided to get the big sized bottles after my empties, and the cool thing is I get to reuse my Face Food mist bottle (bonus sustainability point). Although, the airless pump may be hard to recycle conventionally, you can always submit your beauty product empties to Terracycle!♻️ And as for eczema, I just want to say that its pathological root cause is very complex for each individual. I’m still figuring mine out, but I’m pretty sure it’s nutrition & stress related. So I look up to skincare as a maintenance practice, that keeps my skin relatively healthy, while I’m figuring out the other pieces of the puzzle. 💝 Stay tuned for how I clear up the scars + hyperpigmentation, this isn’t the first time I’ve dealt with this! Top 2020 Toners 🌬
Top 2020 Toners 🌬
I love a good toner, that either helps the skin absorb the following skincare steps in a routine, or has an active that gently exfoliates the skin. 1. For general hydration 💦 my go-to has been GRAYDON - Face Food Mineral Mist , containing inflammatory-reducing ingredients, like silver, magnesium, zinc, copper, with a slight vanilla scent. At night, I use it after cleansing, before applying hyaluronic acid and oil serums. In the morning, I don’t cleanse my face, I refresh my skin and wake myself up with this instead, before applying on a moisturizer. 2. An exfoliating toner 🧹 I was using a lot at the beginning of the year is @sahajanskincare’s sahajan - Balance Toner . It’s an Ayurvedic blend, containing moringa oil, rose water, fruit extracts and salicylic acid, so it’s gentle on the skin while smoothing out texture, overtime (which is why I use it less often now). After direct use, the skin feels soft rather than tight. I remember being amazed at how quickly it was able to reduce incoming blemishes and recent dark spots. Both of these toners also claim to protect the skin from pollution, but more on that later. Are you more of a hydrating or exfoliating toner type of person? I like to use skincare products that have multiple benefits, so I don’t necessarily go out of my way to look for “anti-pollution” skincare, specifically. However seeing the anti-pollution benefit mentioned on the packaging soothes my soul. Unfortunately, our skin is susceptible to environmental pollution. I may no longer live in one of the most polluted cities in Canada with factories, but car exhaust and cigarette smoke are still abundant. They emit polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), tiny particles that alter the skin barrier, by disrupting connections between healthy cells. So it’s nice to know that I have skincare that takes care of me in that way too. Let me introduce you to GRAYDON - Face Food Mineral Mist which is a perfect daily hydrating toner, that also helps soothe irritation, if need be. The anti-pollution ingredient in this is malachite, which is meant to be a powerful healing gemstone with antioxidant properties, protecting the skin from oxidative stress. It also contains copper which is known to increase collagen production. GRAYDON - Fullmoon Serum I love this serum for many reasons, like its plant retinol alternative, bakuchiol, hyaluronic acid boosting ingredients, and vitamin C. But the ingredient I’d like to highlight here is moringa, from which an anti-pollution protein complex is derived. This chain of polypeptides creates a protective shield on the surface of the skin, preventing the adhesion of the PAHs to the skin, which would cause oxidative damage otherwise. So anti-pollution skincare is a big YAY. After all, the way I like to think of it, skincare wouldn’t be a huge deal in our world if it weren’t for all the ways we have been trying to adapt to modern day living, which still has many side effects. #CheriePartner

My Nighttime Skincare Routine ft Graydon 💙
My Nighttime Skincare Routine ft Graydon 💙
*find the rest of the video on my IGTV @valchemic ✨* I’ve loved Graydon skincare for a while, as they offer a clean yet clinically proven array of formulas, which have helped me with eczema, acne, milia, and dry skin. When they offered me a gift 🎁 of two of their products in return for a video, it was an easy, done deal because I already have a bunch of their other products 💙 Double Cleanse: 1) GRAYDON - Aloe Milk Cleanser Key ingredients: niacinamide, black tea (antioxidant-rich polyphenols), apricot kernel oil (vitamin E, K + omega 6 rich), aloe vera juice Soothing cleanser, I try to leave it on my skin as long as possible to let it soak in all the goodness. Alternatively, it’s a good fast cleanser that can quickly remove relatively unstubborn makeup. 2)GRAYDON - Face Foam Key ingredients: azelaic acid, blue-green algae (minerals & protein-building amino acids), white willow bark (salicylic acid), apple cider vinegar (pH balancing) I’m personally not a big fan of the scent, as it’s a little sour, but this is a nice gentle formula for a foam, which doesn’t leave my face feeling dry afterwards. I got this for the gentle exfoliating acids it contains, and I do notice an improvement in my skin texture since the last few months of using it! Note how I use a reusable makeup remover pad, it was made from leftover fashion fabric. I’m trying lol ♻️ Hydrate: GRAYDON - Face Food Mineral Mist Key ingredients: magnesium, silver, zinc Lovely vanilla scent, soothing any irritation/inflammation from food allergies, pollution, etc. Reduces redness and acne-related scars. To enhance absorption, I love misting this on before adding any serums. Correct & Protect: 🎁 GRAYDON - Fullmoon Serum Key ingredients: moth bean (botanical retinol alternative), moringa (vitamin C), senna (vegan hyaluronic acid), malachite (support skin exposed to pollution) Light texture, non-irritating formula has helped me remove some of the persistent milia on my skin. Fades occasional breakout scars after a couple of days. Smooths over my smile lines. Moisturize: 🎁 GRAYDON - Superfood Serum Key ingredients: saffron (stem cell extract), raspberry seed oil (Linoleic acid), sacha inchi (Omega rich essential fatty acids), turmeric Not in love with the scent, as it’s a bit bitter, but the texture of the oil is dense enough yet not sticky and absorbs so well on top of the aforementioned products. And I don’t notice the bitter scent after mixing it with the Face Food vanilla-scented mist. This leaves my skin feeling smooth and well-nourished.

A combo I wouldn’t go without for dry skin
A combo I wouldn’t go without for dry skin
For mornings that I want to keep my skincare steps to a minimum, I stick with this hydrating, protective, repairing combo of Face food mineral mist & Repair booster oil. GRAYDON - Face Food Mineral Mist is not just any kind of toner, as with minerals such as Zinc, Copper, Magnesium it serves to protect the face from elements & pollutants. Bonus points for the gentle vanilla extract, which smells heavenly and is also good for the skin! PUUR Ingrid - Repair Booster is a nice light oil, containing collagen-promoting Squalane + a green tea antioxidant, repairs the skin cells. It technically falls under the “anti-aging” category; however, if you’re prone to super dry skin or even recovering from dermatitis, this comes in handy. This not only leaves my skin baby smooth, but also has a scent that reminds me of baby oil, which I personally like. I love pairing these two together, as spraying the toner dampens the skin, which then allows the oil to penetrate the skin better. If you want to keep your routine simple and you have dry/aging/sensitive skin or just desire an upkeep for normal, healthier skin... this is the one!
