Brooklyn Botany Review
Yesterdays textures were sugar and salt scrubs you can use on body, some on face, some on lips 👄 @brooklynbotany is a local brand that makes face and body scrubs and shampoos using all natural ingredients and essential oils. From front to back: ✨ Brown sugar scrub- smells delicious 🤤 I love using this on my face and lips for a gentle exfoliation. Its also made in an oil so it leaves your skin feeling soft, smooth 😋 . ✨ Coffee scrub- probably my favorite one. Ive always wanted a coffee scrub for stretchmarks, and this one has all the necessary essential oils for just that, and also helps treat cellulite and overall skin texture. I use this on problem areas and I’m loving it so far, but its definitely a product to use longterm to see best results ☕️ . ✨ Tea Tree Oil scrub- this is a salt scrub made with dead sea salts, so they are coarser. Tea tree is known for its antibacterial qualities, making it a good treatment for acne. Tea tree oil is often used as a spot treatment for blemishes. Ive been using this on problem areas on my body, and on the backs of my arms for Keratosis Pilaris and has been very effective in smoothing those out . ✨ African Soap Body Scrub- this is a very soft scrub, I really love using this on dry areas of the body, like legs, knees, elbows; it really helps exfoliated dead skin while moisturizing and hydrating at the same time. Its been really helping with the dry areas over this winter . ✨ British Rose Body Scrub- probably the gentlest scrub of all, I find it to be the runniest formula, making it very soft to use on the body. It is also the most fragrant, made with natural flower extract, but it smells lovely, definitely not overpowering. This has been great is smoothing my skin, and I use it on my KP after tea tree to help with the redness. 🌹 Overall I really live this brand, and definitely have a few favorites I will use probably forever 😄

Wanna get rid of Stretchmarks?
So I recently emptied my @strivectin SD cream for wrinkles and stretchmarks and I thought I’d check in and update you on my stretchmark situation. So. They’re still there. BUT they are actually barely noticeable- what it does look like right now is wrinkly skin 🙃 So the SD cream (pink tube) helped lighten the stretchmarks so theyre no longer red, but theyre also not white like stretchmarks normally become after residing on tour body for some time. They just blend in with my skin and I feel like they’ve thinned out too, so theyre not as wide as they were before- which may just be because the skin is looser (hence the wrinkliness) and needs to be tightened. Enter the @strivectin Body Tightening cream. I’ve actually had this for a while but havr been terrible at using it, but I’m going to use it more now that I finished the SD cream. Obviously some exercise will help tighten and tone the abdomen area, so yes, I will try to do some of that too. And since we’re here if also like to mention I had been using @brooklynbotany coffee scrub on my belly because coffee is a good for skin toning, perfecting and unifying- coffee scrubs have long been used for stretchmarks so I gave it a go, and if nothing else, I love the smell of coffee so 🙌🏼.

Yes you can glow during quarantine✨
I love body care. It’s the staple to feeling good and feeling confident (especially during summer months). I love to exfoliate my skin & to make sure any darkness, bumps, & stretch marks go away. I use (L👉🏽R) Dove - Beauty Bar Soap this is in the “Summer Care” edition it’s smells like mangos and guava. PACIfICA - Sugared Crystal Supercharged Body Scrub smells like watermelon and other fruits. I love this as a scrub for those days I want extra extra clean. It’s vegan too 💕 BROOKLYN BOTANY - Arabica Coffee Body and Face Scrub I love this scrub. It does have a very strong coffee smell but it gets the jobs done. It’s also blended with coconut oil to leave a moisturizing effect of your skin. I use this mainly on my stretch marks. Dove - Exfoliating Body Polish Crushed Macadamia & Rice Milk this really smells like vanilla to me. It’s probably the lightest of my scrubs and products I use to exfoliate. It leaves a nice conditioned feel on my skin. I use this before I use my soap and it leaves my skin super smooth. -Dry brush I got from amazon. I use this once a week & mainly in my stomach, thighs, & butt. Always rub towards your heart (proper way to detox lymphatic system). I always use this dry before I get into the shower & make sure I rinse and wash that area really well.

My Mental Wellness Improved Through My Self AcceptanceWhen I was around 13 or 14 years old, I remember routinely taking one of my older sister’s black eyeliner pencils before school every morning. I’d arrive early so that I could slip away to the girl’s bathroom to apply a single black line to my eyelids. My parents didn’t allow me to wear any makeup at the time. Although this smudgy line on my eyelids didn’t make me look all that much different, I never felt comfortable at school without it. My teenage mind convinced myself that I needed some sort of cosmetic symbol in order to appropriately express my femininity. Up until that point in my life, society had told girls that looked like me - tall, Black, and with kinky hair - that we somehow weren’t as beautiful as the other girls. For far too long, I believed it too.Feb. 17
