So are pimple patches necessarily effective? ✨
Firstly, I want to give a huge thank you to Hero Cosmetics for sending me their entire acne line as a giveaway prize ✨ I have used their original, invisible, and surface patches in the past and loved them. Pimple patches are stickers made of hydrocolloid (a moisture absorbing dressing). These stickers adhere to the face to dry out the pimples as well as provide protection from picking, external bacteria, and sunlight to speed up the healing the process. They also sometimes include acne fighting ingredients to help with the process. Is it good for all acne? It’s very important to realize what kind of acne is good for patches and what isn’t. Pimple patches (this is coming from research and personal experience) are meant for superficial acne. These are pustules (blemishes containing pus), blackheads, and whiteheads. When it comes to cystic acne or what I call “underground” pimples the patch simply doesn’t penetrate enough to be effective. So they are 100% effective? Not always. The pimple really needs to have some kind of liquid for the patch the soak up (aka it’s main purpose). But that doesn’t mean they aren’t worth it or effective. I personally use pimple patches for protection the majority of the time. Especially with maskne being so prevalent it will create a barrier between your mask and the acne so bacteria isn’t being introduced. How do I use them? First, I cleanse my face. Then I will dry off just the area I’m adhering the patch to. Sometimes I will add salicylic acid to the pimple depending on the situation. Then I apply the patch before I do any other skincare. I do this because I don’t want moisture getting trapped under the patch. Then I go in with the rest of my skincare. I usually leave the patches on for no more than 24 hours. I also have a friend who puts them on before she does her make up for work. We wear a mask all day so you don’t see them until she takes her mask off. It creates a barrier keeping the make up and mask bacteria out. My favorite patches to use are the HERO COSMETICS - Mighty Patch Original for Madewell and HERO COSMETICS - Mighty Patch Invisible+ for Madewell . I’ve also used the Truly Beauty ones in the past and while I like them they don’t blend into the skin like the Mighty Patch does. They also don’t stick as well as the Mighty Patch. The original does a pretty good job at blending into my skin but the invisible is the way to go if you’re going to be out in public with it on. I’ve also used the HERO COSMETICS - Mighty Patch Surface for Madewell in the past and while it has the same power as the original and invisible it was quite painful to take off (while the other ones are not). So long story short yes, I do think pimple patches are effective if you go into it knowing what they can and can’t do. They can be amazing tools to help heal blemishes but they aren’t a miracle worker.

Heatless Curls & Beneath The Makeup
This weekend I decided to revisit my Curl Formers to get this look. I wanted some curls but I did not want to put any heat on my hair so I decided to give these a try. I usually use them on wet hair but I decided to use them on air dried hair and this is how they turned out. Curl formers are similar to flexirods but they give you a spiral curl instead of a cork screw curl. I was having a few breakouts but I really wanted to get all dolled up for the day and this foundation was calling my name. So to avoid irritating my skin even more by applying makeup over my breakouts I thought I would try putting a few hero patches beneath my foundation. This was my first time trying both this foundation and wearing these patches beneath my makeup. I had about 5 patches on but only two of them are really obvious. I’m surprised how well it blended into my skin. Also my breakouts were no longer irritated or inflamed by the end of the day when I was ready to remove my makeup. Once I got past the uncomfortable feeling of thinking about what I looked like wearing the patches with my foundation, I was fine. I’m obviously not a dermatologist or anything but FOR ME I liked having a barrier between my skin and the foundation that could treat my skin while still being able to enjoy getting glammed up and wearing foundation. Let me know if you have any tips, tricks, or skin hacks you like to do when you have a breakout. Do you go bare face or just apply makeup directly over your breakout? Do you have a go to method for heatless curls? I’m curious to know what others are trying. Pimple patches to the rescue!!
Loving this NEW product by Hero Cosmetics for pimples. I love their original and invisible (my fave) patches and these new ones have tiny micropoints to reach under the skin pimples. They come in a box of 6 for $12 ish dollars. Not the best price in my opinion, but definitely worth the try! (These were gifted to me by the brand).

PIMPLES-GOOD RIDDANCE! (part 1)
A pimple is a part of everyone’s path and in the time I’ve lived, I encountered many a pimple and each time I obsess over it trying to find the most perfect spot treatment. I think just about anyone can relate. Below is my experience and thoughts on some of the things I’ve tried. A remedy for every pimple type! Kate Somerville - EradiKate Acne Treatment For night time application only. Very drying and funky (contains alcohol, an irritant to skin but works so well I can’t resist.) Most effective on a surfacing pimple (not the screaming kind). Pimple cleared within 1-2 days. Not for cystic acne. HERO COSMETICS - Mighty Patch Invisible+ for Madewell $0.46 per sticker. Surprisingly super sticky and long lasting. As “invisible” as it gets, it blurs acne from afar. You can wear it under make up. Matte enough to wear out in public. Specific for pimples that look prime and ready to pop (note to self: resist the urge to squeeze). YES SISTERS!! This is it! It sucks everything up which gives me a close satisfying feeling to watching Dr. Pimple Popper pop that goody goody for good. alba BOTANICA - Acne Pimple Patch $0.19 per sticker. A cheaper alternative to the Mighty Patch. Contains ingredients like tea tree oil and witch hazel to help calm the pimple. Matte finish but not as thin as the Mighty Patch. Not that sticky, some fall off and gets stuck to my pillow at night. The outer edge circumference starts to lose its adhesiveness throughout the day (be brave enough to wear it in public, it helps!). If I wrote YES SISTERS for the Mighty Patch, this is more like a yes sisters. I use the Mighty Patch until most of the gunk is gone (around 1-2 nights) and if the pimple is still there then I switch and use Alba Botanica pimple patch to absorb any remaining fluids. PETER THOMAS ROTH - Acne Patches $0.44 per sticker. Glossy finish. It has different ingredients like salicylic acid and tea tree oil that helps soothe that flaring spot without drying you as it also contains hyaluronic acid. For best results, use on pimples that hasn’t come to a head yet. The adhesive is pretty top notch unless it’s worn in moist conditions. It has helped me prevent so many almost cystic pimples. I would be at a loss without it. If you know any other effective products feel free to share so I can experience the same joys of eliminating pimples with you! 🤩 For more tips on how to say goodbye to that pimple, check out my other post Pimples-Good Riddance Part 2.
