Sunday Riley C.E.O. collection: serum or oil?
Sunday Riley C.E.O. collection: serum or oil?
Sunday Riley is famous for its revolutionary formulas that offer fast and visible results, and the brand consistently dedicates itself to keeping products safe, green, and adaptive to consumer's needs. Vitamin C is an essential part of skin health, contributing to photoprotection and would healing, so it is an excellent ingredient for brightening skin and diminishing dark spots like new acne marks.  The Vitamin C used in this collection is called THD Ascorbate, which is highly stable and oil soluble. However, VC can cause dryness of skin and does not replace sunscreen, so hydration is essential after VC products and sunscreen is a must if you need to go outside. Today I want to share two of their C.E.O products and focus on the differences between them.  Let’s talk about the face oil first. It is called C.E.O Glow Vitamin C + Turmeric Face Oil, which is $40 for 15ml and $80 for 35ml. That is an instantly absorbing face oil infused with advanced VC (THD ascorbate), turmeric, and evening primrose oil. What I love about this oil is that it’s helpful to my uneven texture and new acne, and I prefer using it in the evening because it is oil-based. But there is something I don’t like. For example, sometimes I would apply lotion with hyaluronic acid first after washing face, and when I rub the oil on my face it will not be absorbed. So I recommend using some light toner before this, and it may not suitable for oily skin type. Besides, I don’t really like the smell of it, so I would give it 3.5/5.  SUNDAY RILEY - C.E.O. Glow Vitamin C and Turmeric Face Oil Then let’s talk about the C.E.O. 15% Vitamin C Brightening Serum, $85 for 30ml. This is a fast-absorbing serum infused with 15 percent THD ascorbate to fight the look of dullness, dark spots, and discolorations, while instantly increasing brightness and luminosity. There is also golden turmeric inside that is helpful to improve the look of surface redness and skin evenness. I really like this product because I can see the results only in one day! And it is absorbed quickly and not sticky at all. The only thing needs to note is that moisture is important if you have dry skin like me. I can give it 4.5/5, and I think I will repurchase it. SUNDAY RILEY - C.E.O. 15% Vitamin C Brightening Serum Overall, I love the serum better, and I hope this will help you make decisions.

🍊 Let’s talk about one of my favorite skincare ingredients: Vitamin C. Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that works to firm and brighten the skin while protecting against environmental stressors. Here are some of the Vitamin C products currently in my rotation and some pros and cons. (Left to right) 🍊 Farmacy Very Cherry Bright Serum is a blend of four Vitamin C derivatives and four types of hyaluronic acid. This is a great serum if you are sensitive to vitamin C and prefer a gentler derivative. I’m not sensitive to vitamin C but I find this to be just as effective as my abscorbic acid serums. I love the texture of this because it’s not thick or sticky at all like some vitamin c serums can be. This lightweight gel sinks in quickly and leaves my skin soft and plump thanks to all the hyaluronic acid. If you have dry, dehydrated, or sensitive skin you will love this vitamin C. 🍊 Sunday Riley C.E.O. Glow is a facial oil containing the Vitamin C derivative THD Abscorbate as well as other brightening ingredients such as turmeric, ginger root extract, and bisabolol in a blend of botanical oils. Another great option for those who may be sensitive to vitamin C because this product does use a derivative and is buffered by the oil base. I like this when I’m dry or traveling and find it gives me beautifully glowy and soft skin. However this is a little rich for me on a daily basis. If you are dry or live in a dry climate your skin will probably love this. Wouldn’t recommend for oily skin though. 🍊 Drunk Elephant C Firma Day Serum is a 15% Abscorbic Acid serum and is the most potent of the three this product also contains firming peptides and enzymatic exfoliators. This one helps so much with brightening my skin and lightening hyperpigmentation the texture is a little bit thick and sticky but sinks in relatively quickly. If you are sensitive to vitamin C this will probably not be the one for you but if not it’s amazing.

Old vs. New: Sunday Riley CEO Facial Oil
Old vs. New: Sunday Riley CEO Facial Oil
My acne prone skin is always red and it’s so hard to correct sometimes. One product that has really done wonders for me is Sunday Riley’s CEO Glow Vitamin C + Turmeric Face Oil. I received my first bottle of the product over the summer in a swag bag and my skin loved every drop of it. It lasted me until last week and I repurchased the travel sized version, which is $40 cheaper. I love to use this in the morning since it has vitamin C and it gives my skin a warm glow thanks to its yellow-orange hue. This oil absorbs fast into the skin and delivers a brightening, antioxidant-rich blend of vitamin C and turmeric straight to the cells. It also features ginger root extract, which promotes evenness of skin tone and help to soothe the look of sensitivity – something that’s great for people battling redness. The anti-inflammatory properties of the turmeric and ginger combined have also been a blessing for my acne. They help reduce the redness and size of my breakouts and I think it’s been helping keep major cystic pimples at bay. I’m a fan of this oil for its brightening and anti-inflammatory properties and wouldn’t say that it’s the best for someone looking for a significant boost in hydration. My acne-fighting routine contains a lot of acids and often leaves my skin on the dry side and this face oil doesn’t really help prevent that. Depending on how dry my skin is, I’ll follow up with another hydrating facial oil to really add that moisture it needs or opt for a thicker moisturizer.

I’ve never had the greatest lu
I’ve never had the greatest luck with Vitamin C🍊serums in the past and oils can be hit or miss for me but I AM a big fan of Sunday Riley so I was cautiously optimistic about their C.E.O. Glow Vitamin C + Turmeric Face Oil. So far I’m happy to report that I haven’t had the splotchliness and sensitivity I typically experience with Vitamin C treatments. As you may know there are many forms of Vitamin C and the C.E.O. Glow is formulated with the “gold standard” THD Ascorbate along with Turmeric (anti inflammatory) and Vitamin E (powerful antioxidant). C.E.O. Glow is a mid-weight face oil that absorbs nicely into the skin. The scent is a bit earthier than your average Vitamin C serum which is likely due to the Turmeric but that dissipates quickly upon application. I like to apply it following my moisturizer (as I do with all oils) and find that it leaves my skin feeling soft and supple with a nice dewy glow. In my experience it plays well with moisturizers and SPF and doesn’t cause any pilling with makeup application. I’ve only been using this for a few weeks but am pleasantly surprised with the results so far and would definitely recommend it to anyone in search of a great Vitamin C serum, especially those like myself who tend to be a bit more sensitive. It’s a little pricey at $40 for .50oz but a great option for those who 1. like facial oils and 2. are typically sensitive to Vitamin C. SUNDAY RILEY - C.E.O. Glow Vitamin C and Turmeric Face Oil

Sunday Riley As a skincare brand
Sunday Riley As a skincare brand
Meh skincare brand A very popular skincare brand is Sunday Riley, which I’m sure you all know. Unfortunately in my opinion Sunday Riley is one of those brands that I think is a bit over hyped, over priced and underwhelming. All of the products I’ve tried ( which to be fair has only been a few) I was left disappointed. Another disappointment was that fake review scandal they had a few years back. It always left me with a less favorable feeling about the brand. SUNDAY RILEY - Good Genes Lactic Acid Treatment This AHA treatment is priced very high at $122 for 1.7 ml. My skin is used to acids and I’ve used some strong ones but for some reason every time I used this it irritated my skin so much. Lots of burning, and it made my eyes burn and water even if I didn’t get it close to my eye. This is the only acid that has had my skin react this way. I heard they reformulated this products as well and have read that many people are unhappy with the new formula as well. Another product I was underwhelmed with is SUNDAY RILEY - C.E.O. Glow Vitamin C and Turmeric Face Oil I used this oil about a year back. I don’t have a strong opinion on it but I was left feeling meh. I don’t care for my vitamin c serum to be an oil. I use vitamin c in the morning and the oil takes too long to absorb into the skin. Second I wasn’t a fan of the turmeric smell to it either, making it a bit unpleasant to apply and I would find myself dreading this step in my routine because of it. Overall I finished the bottle and promptly forgot about it and never was tempted to repurchase from this brand since.

SUNDAY RILEY - Good Genes Lactic Acid Treatment SUNDAY RILEY - U.F.O. Acne Treatment Face Oil SUNDAY RILEY - Juno Antioxidant + Superfood Face Oil SUNDAY RILEY - C.E.O. Glow Vitamin C and Turmeric Face Oil SUNDAY RILEY - Luna Retinol Sleeping Night Oil I honestly hate that Sunday Riley had drama with fake reviews because there’s plenty of people like me who have nothing but great things to say about her line of skincare. At the same time ,what works for me may not work for someone else, but my favorite is thing about Sunday Riley is the consistency amongst her products and how they make me feel luxurious❤️🌸⭐️ Good genes - was my first introduction into lactic acid and I consider it an “old faithful” . I’m definitely open into trying different treatments but I know I can always throw good genes back into my routine without any adverse affects . I love how when using this at night, when I wake up in the morning my skin is visibly smoother ,plump, and left feeling moisturized but I can definitely see a difference in the size of my pores Luna sleeping night oil - I love this retinol oil because at least for my skin it really works without over drying like other retinol formulas I’ve used. The blue tansey oil in this also has “balancing” and “soothing” properties. All I know is that whether I use it in conjunction with good genes treatment , or use it on its own , it doesn’t make my skin oily and when I wake up in the morning my skin is more plump and I can see a difference with the few fine lines I’m starting to develop . CEO glow face oil- for me this is a morning routine favorite . After toning I can apply this and instantly see brighter more “youthful” skin , as with the other face oils it’s moisturizing without leaving me oily and I’m able to use a light moisturizer on top without my face or pores feeling suffocated . I’ve also noticed the dark spots on my face fading and getting lighter since I’ve started using this . Juno superfood face oil- I love that I can use this morning or night when my face is reeling a little worn out and needs some moisture and tender love and care as opposed to a treatment . It doesn’t leave me oily absorbs pretty fast just like the rest of these oils ,and leaves my skin feeling happy 😊 UFO face oil - so ufo is the newest addition to my Sunday Riley collection but it’s already impressed me . I love that it is clarifying and after applying it at night I can see a difference in the size of my pores and the redness of the pimples I may be experiencing. I don’t use it every night , maybe 2/3 times a week but I think it’s working at liking the amount of new pimples/breakouts . Although it claims to lighten past acne scars I can’t honestly say if it works or not for that. Thanks for checking out my post❤️❤️ I love that Sunday Riley has worked for me and the products just make me happy 😊
