My Honest Opinion
Ok, so in the spirit of being honest, let me start by saying that I pretty much only bought these products because of the hype surrounding them. I kept hearing about how clean the formulas were, so I decided to give them a try and my verdict is: I don't hate them.... but I don't love them. HONEST - Gentle Gel Cleanser This is a perfectly fine cleanser and true to its name is actually very gentle. However, there is a fragrance because it contains the lavender essential oil. It's not a strong smell but it's definitely there, so super sensitive skins will not do well with this. I personally prefer cream cleansers to gel and therefore will probably not purchase this again. This cleanser would work best on normal/oily skin with minimal sensitivities. HONEST - Hydrogel Cream The product claims to feel like a burst of water for your skin and it sure is. Except they didn't mention that it literally looks like you splashed a bunch of water on your face. This cream leaves a very wet and borderline greasy look on my face and is very difficult to blend in. It sits on the surface and never seems to fully sink into my skin, which makes it difficult to layer other products. I would actually recommend this product to anyone who wants an intense "glow" effect. Although this is recommended for oily skin, I feel that it would still feel too greasy and would better suit a normal/dehydrated skin type. All in all, not horrible but definitely nothing special. Thank you, next.

Skin care routine
After countless hours of research I found my current skincare routine. As mentioned in my previous post I have pretty oily skin with large pores and texture issues being my biggest skin problems. I discovered an app called Think Dirty that breaks down the ingredients of different skin care, beauty, and household products and gives them as rating based on how good the ingredients are for your body as well as the environment. HIGHLY recommend checking it out but be prepared that you may find some of your favorite products really aren’t that great... As for my routine: In the mornings I wash my face with HONEST - Gentle Gel Cleanser which I love as it is super gentle but still feels like it is really cleaning my face. It has super clean ingredients and smells nice. Then I use the GOOD MOLECULES - Niacinamide Brightening Toner This toner is fairly gentle. I had been using the ordinary toner which is a lot stronger and always made my face burn so I like that this one is a bit more chill plus it has extra ingredients like niacinamide and vitamin C. After that I apply the HONEST - Hydrogel Cream since I have oily skin I wanted to use am oil free moisturizer and I’m obsessed with this one. It is super light weight but really feels like it hydrates. If I am planning to go outside I use the alba BOTANICA - Mineral Sunscreen, Sensitive, Fragrance Free, SPF 30 I chose this one because it had super clean ingredients and I am sensitive to normal sunscreen so I had to find a mineral based one. It’s not greasy and doesn’t leave a white residue or anything so I’m super happy with it. In the evening I again wash with the Honest cleanser and apply the good molecules toner. Then a few nights a week I use the GOOD MOLECULES - Overnight Exfoliating Treatment I’ve only used it a couple times so I haven’t noticed a huge improvement but my skin seems a little less uneven texture wise so I think as I continue to use it it will really help. I gave it 4 stars because it does burn a little but that’s expected for most exfoliators... At night I also use the GOOD MOLECULES - Discoloration Correcting Serum and GOOD MOLECULES - Squalane Oil both of which I like so far! The oil makes me skin super soft and I think with continued use both will show good results. I then use the honest moisturizer and head to bed. When I want a little extra exfoliation I use either the The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution which I really like and has definitely help my texture or the AZTEC SECRET - Indian Healing Clay (not pictured) which is my savior for my pores. I recommend doing a half water half apple cider vinegar mix because it can be a bit intense with straight vinegar. I highly recommend all of these products so feel free to comment for more info!!!

Honest Beauty & I Dew Care!
My skin care journey has not been easy or CONSISTENT. When I truly started caring what I put on my face I learned that finding out what is in products is important, especially if I was going to start being consistent. With a little bit of prayer and a solid skin care routine my face has increasingly started getting better. Letting my love for skin care take its course and venturing into different products! Honest Beauty Gentle Gel Cleanser- I have been through the bad products and the good products. This by far is one of my favorites especially for my combination skin. Not too drying and the scent is very relaxing. This is cruelty free and free of any synthetic fragrance or parabens. I use this morning and night! I Dew Care Yoga Kitten Balancing Heartleaf Clay Mask- BEST mask I have tried so far. I haven’t tried many but definitely plan too. This is a perfect texture and dries pretty fast. The bits of real heartleaf make me excited to use this, but the outcome is even more exciting. Great for my redness and irritation due to acne and not to drying for my combo skin.

My “Ordinary” Journey
My skincare routine needed a revamp but I didn’t know where to start. I wanted to use products with good ingredients but I know many companies “green wash” to make you believe all their ingredients are great. I did lots of research and decided to give The Ordinary a try. A little background on my skin: I have aging skin (I’m pushing 38) and it’s been on the dryer side since having kids. I also tend to get peri-oral dermatitis every winter. Then of course, I still get occasional breakouts! Yay hormones 😜 In September, as I was running out of my current skincare products, I replaced them with The Ordinary. I chose HONEST - Gentle Gel Cleanser as I didn’t want anything to harsh or stripping on my dry skin. After I cleanse, I mist my face with HERITAGE STORE - Rosewater Spray then apply The Ordinary - Matrixyl* 10% + HA Because this contains HA, it should be applied to damp skin. On top of that I apply The Ordinary - "Buffet" + Copper Peptides 1% I gave this 4 stars because it’s sooooo sticky and takes a while to dry down before I can move to my next step. After that drys, I go for The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% I may not have clear skin all of the time, but when I do get blemishes, they clear up very quickly. This stuff is amazing! I follow that with The Ordinary - Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA and COOLA - Classic Full Spectrum 360 Sun Silk Drops SPF 30 Since starting this routine, my skin looks so much better when I apply makeup and when I don’t wear any, My skin tone much more even. And this year, as winter approached, I did not develop peri-oral dermatitis. My skin retains moisture so much better than it ever has.

Tretinoin and Spironolactone Progress July-Dec
I’m back! And wow what a difference! I’ve since switched upped my dosage to Apostrophe 0.05% tret with 4% Niacinimide cream forumula beginning in November. I’m also taking 50 mg of Spirinolactone now. My face has definitively gotten a lot drier, with some mild peeling throughout the day (any tips are welcome!) I’m going to see how waiting 15 mins before apply tret after moisturizer and 15 minutes after tret will work Overall, I feel like my forehead has a smoother texture, and I’m seeing less breakouts. I now definitely want to start working on reducing the appearance of my acne scars, but with my face so dry right now, I’m not sure if that’s an option. I’m going to wait a while and talk to my derm about adding in any actives. Also very sad about the Purito sunscreen scandal :-( Here’s my routine below: Morning (focus on hydration and barrier) CeraVe - Hydrating Facial Cleanser dear, klairs - Supple Preparation Unscented Facial Toner COSRX - Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence PEACH & LILY - Glass Skin Refining Serum HONEST - Hydrogel Cream BRUJITA - Hechizo Facial Serum BRUJITA - Vegan Crema Supergoop! - Glow Stick SPF 50 Night (applying tret nightly-wondering whether to reduce to every other day ) DHC - Deep Cleansing Oil HONEST - Gentle Gel Cleanser (or COSRX - Low PH Good Morning Gel Cleanser ) dear, klairs - Supple Preparation Unscented Facial Toner COSRX - Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence HONEST - Hydrogel Cream Then putting BRUJITA - Vegan Crema on my driest areas Apostrophe Cream BRUJITA - Hechizo Facial Serum BRUJITA - Vegan Crema

Worst product I’ve tried this year
FINALLY FINISHED THIS PRODUCT OMG!! Didn’t mean to post 2 negative reviews in a row but well here we are. So I just wanna say that just because this product didn’t work for me doesn’t mean it won’t work for you. I have normal to oily skin but my skin is also sensitive and gets irritated easily so I do like products that claim to be gentle. My issue with the HONEST - Gentle Gel Cleanser is that it’s too gentle. I would have to use a lot of product for my face to actually feel clean and even then most of the time I felt like I was just washing my face with just water. Because this didn’t do a good job of breaking down my face oils and well cleansing my skin it led me to get a lot of skin texture and white heads luckily I had a couple other items that helped get rid of that. If you have dry skin I think this would work really well for you but it was a huge no for me.
