simplicity is key?
life can very easily get in the way sometimes. this can be so severe that, at least in my case, i end up sacrificing things like my skincare routine or other self care, thus making my skin worse and giving me ANOTHER reason to be stressed out. this being said, i’ve abandoned a lot of steps of my routines (which were sometimes 6 steps long!!) to help make my routine quicker and more manageable. am + pm i use these products in this order: cleanse: Milk MAKEUP - Vegan Milk Cleanser or THE inkey LIST - Salicylic Acid Acne + Pore Cleanser tone: THE inkey LIST - Glycolic Acid Exfoliating Toner (i use this every other night) serum/oil: e.l.f. - All the Feels Facial Oil eye cream: zero by skin academy (tried adding this as a new item multiple times but i give up typing it all in every time) moisturizer: e.l.f. - Happy Hydration Cream or Milk MAKEUP - Vegan Milk Moisturizer (i usually opt for the milk one at night as it is thicker and heavier) spot treatment: THE inkey LIST - Succinic Acid Acne Treatment (not pictured) sunscreen: live clean mineral face sunscreen SPF 45 #cheriecreator

Go through my Skin Cabinet with me! 🧖♀️
First, let’s start with my favorite products of the bunch! The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution If you’ve seen some of my earlier posts you know I love this chemical exfoliant! It has really helped to make my skin appear brighter. tarte - Babassu Foundcealer Skincare Foundation SPF 20 I have been using this one for probably a little over a year now and I love it! Not only does it have SPF in it but it sits nicely on my dry skin and it’s honestly quite the perfect match for my skin tone. schmidt's - Lavender + Sage Deodorant Stick I’ve also given this product its own review post so check it out for more info but so far this has been the only natural deodorant that has worked for me! It also smells amazinggg. Now onto some of my least favorite products of the bunch: Neutrogena - MoistureShine Lip Soother SPF 20 I bought this while looking for one of those clear lip glosses that just look SO GOOD on Instagram. Unfortunately, it didn’t turn out to look so good & was too sticky. sun bum - Sunscreen Spray-Fragrance Free SPF 50 I wanted a mineral sunscreen spray that I could easily re-apply while out and about so I picked up this fragrance free one by Baby Bum (it’s made for babies). I’m not a fan however because it does not apply nicely, has a white cast & is difficult to get off the skin at the end of the day. e.l.f. - Happy Hydration Cream The cream itself feels nice & keeps my skin hydrated, however it has plastic in it. I’m using it for now, but once it’s done I will not be replacing it🙅🏻♀️ Maybe you can tell 🤔 but here is how organized from top to bottom: Products I occasionally use - products like The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution & SPA SCIENCES - SIMA I alternate between once a week to exfoliate. The Aquaphor - Aquaphor Healing Ointment & Clearasil - Overnight Spot Patches I use whenever I have a white head I need to get rid of & help heal afterwords. Makeup - I only use these when I wear makeup, which has been rarely these days Skincare - these products I use daily! I began using skincare products around the age of 14/15, so like 6-7 years ago but I admittedly did not get very much into it until this past year. Better late then never! What’s your skin cabinet look like? Other products pictured include: NYX - Matte Finish Makeup Setting Spray L'ORÉAL - Voluminous Original Mascara bareMinerals - All-Over Face Color laura mercier - Translucent Loose Setting Powder bareMinerals - Prime Time Foundation Primer BIOSSANCE - Squalane + Zinc Sheer Mineral Sunscreen SPF 30 PA +++ Neutrogena - Ultra Gentle Daily Cleanser CeraVe - PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion

Trending: Hemp Oil - Elf is in on the action
I love elf products. Cheap, cruelty-free, effective. Hemp is growing ingredient in skincare, beauty products, food, literally everything. It has been claimed to cure everything from arthritis to zits, and the public wants it in everything , apparently. I’ve seen more hemp oil lip balms, skin lotions, and lamp oil than I can count. But like all trends one has to ask - does it actually make a difference? At this point, I’ve tried about four products that contain that ever alluring hemp oil. And I’m not impressed. I’ll be frank. I usually pan my products completely, love or hate it, but this round in tapping out early, fam. Truly and honestly this stuff is meh. It’s almost the definition of meh. The oil is oily; the moisturizer is a cream, and the lip balm works. I do like the primer, but since I’ve tried new products I’ve been liking it less as my skin looks better on its own that it did with the primer. My skin is no more hydrated, glowing, or firm than before. I’m giving up on this trend and sticking to other affordable options.

SKIN HIT KIT - first impressions
e.l.f. - Skin Hit Kit for $26 CAD, elf sells a kit of many of their cannabis-infused skincare minis which i was so eager to try! after trying everything in the kit, i have some thoughts! e.l.f. - Puff Puff Primer this primer feels really nice on the skin and adds a nice additional layer of moisture. my makeup also sits very nicely on top of it. however, i haven’t noticed any additional benefits such as pore shrinking or adding to the overall finish of the skin (i.e. matte or dewy). this is a perfect travel-size item that i would definitely bring with me overnight (if there was anything to go right now) e.l.f. - All the Feels Facial Oil i really enjoy this facial oil. it is non-scented and it absorbs into the skin almost immediately. it leaves my skin feeling more supple and hydrated even hours after applying. i’m a huge fan and look forward to using the rest of this. e.l.f. - Calm Balm this lip balm is pretty standard but nice nonetheless. it has no flavour or scent which i like, and has a kind of oily/vaseline texture. to me this means it sort of feels like it’s sitting on top of the lips rather than penetrating them for optimal moisture, but in my experience so far it is definitely nourishing. e.l.f. - Happy Hydration Cream this is different from the holy hydration cream as it is more of a gel-texture, but delivers a similar boost of moisture to the skin. it feels slightly greasier if i’m being totally honest, but regardless i really like it! overall, the value of this set is great and i have almost exclusively positive things to say about all of the products inside. i will likely finish everything in this set, but will i repurchase any of them? we will have to wait to find out! thanks for reading!! #cheriecreator

Overhyped products; didn’t see a difference
I’ve used these products consistently over the period of a couple months (not necessarily in combination with each other). I haven’t noticed a difference and realize I don’t particularly love the feel of serums and oils. Here’s my review of each product individually and one ordinary product that I do feel like makes a difference. PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliator I was super excited to try and love this product and was mainly wanting help with blackheads on my nose. I haven’t noticed a difference even when using the product twice a day for a couple months. The product is very oily and it’s easy to get all over the bottle. Not a toner that can be used without a cotton pad The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 I don’t love the textures of these products and am disappointed not seeing a difference after using consistently and over half the bottle is gone. dear, klairs - Freshly Juiced Vitamin C Drop This product is very oily. I want to include vitamin C in my skincare routine but just didn’t enjoy this particular one. e.l.f. - Happy Hydration Cream I love all of elf’s products and bought this thinking I would love it. It leaves a white cast and I don’t like the feel when I put this moisturizer on, because of this I have been using it just at night I order to not waste the product. Elf has much better products than this one for sure! One product I do like: The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution I’ve started using this once a week and believe it is helping with my blackheads. It is drying and I have sensitive skin so if you’re like me I would suggest only once a week for 8 min and consider a hydrating mask afterwards.

Skincare on a Budget:Best Drugstore Moisturizers
A good moisturizer that is affordable and effective can be a challenge to find. I’ve tried many moisturizers to help make recommendations to those who need suggestions. —Dry Skin— e.l.f. - Happy Hydration Cream This was a surprising find, but I am glad that I tried it. The creamy texture is perfect for dry skin. Unfortunately, it is packaged in a jar which is not very sanitary and can effect the ingredients. -Fragrance-free. -Contains two peptides, niacinamide, and hyaluronic acid. -Includes a very good amount hydrating hemp seed oil which is antioxidant rich. CeraVe - Moisturizing Cream For Normal To Dry Skin This is a good cream moisturizer for dry skin that contains a good mix of barrier-supporting ingredients. However, it could be better if it had a wider variety of replenishing ingredients. -Fragrance-free and very affordable. -Needs more antioxidants as well. -I recommend getting this product in either the tube or the jar with the pump. —Combination Skin— CeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin This is a lotion version of the CeraVe Moisturizing Cream. This is great moisturizer for combination skin and it’s fragrance-free. Just like the cream version of this moisturizer, it would be better if it had more antioxidants. CeraVe - AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion SPF 30 Finding another good moisturizer for combination skin was very difficult. Much like other CeraVe products, it contains ceramides, hyaluronic acid, and niacinamide. -Fragrance-free. -Lightweight lotion texture wears amazingly well under makeup. -Provides sun protection. —Oily Skin— VERSED - DEW POINT Moisturizing Gel-Cream This is a great moisturizer, however, it would have been far more impressive with additional ingredients that help to lock moisture in. -Fragrance-free. -Gel-cream texture is super lightweight but very moisturizing. Cetaphil - Oil Control Moisturizer SPF 30 Unscented Finding another moisturizer for oily skin that didn’t have fragrance was one of the biggest challenges. This moisturizer provides broad spectrum sun protection without leaving a greasy feeling. -Fragrance-free. -Wears well under makeup. -Lightweight finish that’s perfect for oily skin. Finding a good drugstore moisturizer is one of the biggest challenges especially for one that has oily skin. I’ve noticed that many drugstore brands tend to prioritize those with dry skin when it comes to moisturizers. This can be especially frustrating. I hope this helps everyone find their ideal drugstore moisturizer. Thanks for reading! :)
