First Aid Beauty: Oil Free Mattifying Gel Review
First Aid Beauty: Oil Free Mattifying Gel Review
I got this product a month ago, and was using it as a part of my morning routine. I really wanted to like this product because I have super oily skin and am always looking for new products that help decrease the look of my oily skin. Unfortunately this product didn’t do much for me. I don’t like the texture of the gel and it didn’t do anything to my face to help the appearance of pores + the excess oil. I will not purchase this again, but I’ll definitely try other first aid beauty products. *also TJMax & Marshall’s has lots of first aid beauty products right now! That’s where I got this from 🙂

After struggling with oily skin since as long as I can remember, I was very excited when I saw that a trustworthy brand like FAB had a moisturizer targeted at oily skin. The first time I used this, I saw immediate results. Usually within 5 minutes of putting on my moisturizer, my skin is oily. With this moisturizer, my skin was...normal for once! My skin didn’t feel tight, it felt comfortable and fresh. I then started to use this moisturizer more regularly and wasn’t seeing results like I did the first time around. My skin had gone back to being oily again and the product no longer helped un-oil my skin. 🕊Immediate results 🕊Little goes a long way 🕊Doesn’t leave a residue Overall, I’m satisfied with my first results but just got increasingly disappointed with the later results. I’d recommend to someone struggling with oily skin to see if it works for them.

FAB for a reason!!
FAB for a reason!!
First Aid Beauty is one of the first beauty brands I began using when I decided to take my skin’s health seriously. The FAB acne clearing pads is the first product I purchased from the brand and has been a game changer in my skincare routine. The key ingredient is the salicylic acid that targets any excess oil production and diminishes whiteheads. The Oil Mattifying Gel has been my summer staple and kept my skin balanced. Now I will be honest and say that although this product works well, there are other gel moisturizers that I would reach for first because of how well they worked with my skin. Both products retail for $30, however I scored them at Marshalls for $10 each. I do feel that $30 is pricey for an average gel moisturizer, so I would only purchase it if it were on sale. But, I would DEFINITELY recommend purchasing the Acne Clearing Pads at retail price because they are THAT worth it!

What is it? An oil-free gel moisturizer that controls oil while providing hydration. Suitable for all skin types (per sephora), but oily and acne-prone skin may find this the most beneficial! Targets oiliness, pores, blemishes. Contains Zinc PCA, which refreshes skin and absorbs oil. Lecithin, hydrates and minimizes pores. FLMT Sebocure, fights acne forming and diminishes oil. It has a thick creamy gel texture and also has dimethicone in it so definitely feels silicone-y on the skin. My thoughts 💭 I got this from TJ Maxx a gew months ago and it sounded like it would be awesome for my skin! I use mainly as a primer, but overall I just hate the dimethicone finish on my skin. This is with all products that contain it, not just this one. If it didn’t have that I think this would be a 5/5 product. I don’t reach for it much just because of the finish, but it does what it claims to do! Significantly reduces oil production! Not the best in hydration if you have dry/combo skin. Final Takeaways 🗣 I recommend this product if you don’t mind the finish/feel of dimethicone on your skin. It is a personal preference, but overall this is a solid product and I even think it can be used as a primer rather than just a moisturizer. I got it for $12 at TJ Maxx, but the product is $30 for 2oz which is eh, okay. Could be cheaper in my opinion for what the product’s purpose is. Irritated my skin and broke me out
Irritated my skin and broke me out
First of all the texture is more like a primer than moisturizer. Maybe it’s just me it feels almost like glue. And the scent reminds me of hand sanitizer but maybe that’s me again haha. Now when I applied it to my skin (now looking back I probably should have patch tested this product but I wasn’t aware of that before) It felt sticky and like dried glue. It also irritated my skin and I broke out afterwards. Do not recommend. FIRST AID BEAUTY - Skin Rescue Oil-Free Mattifying Gel Moisturizer
