A healthy skin barrier can solve your problems🌱
A healthy skin barrier can solve your problems🌱
A healthy skin barrier can solve your skin problems! 🌱⁣ ⁣ 𝗪𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐚 𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐧 𝐛𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐫?⁣ It is the outermost layer of the epidermis - stratum corneum - which functions as both a chemical and physical shield against pollutants, bacteria, irritants, etc.. ⁣ ⁣ A healthy skin barrier can slow down aging and even help acne heal quicker while lessening its severity. When the barrier is intact, your skin appears plump, and smooth, but when it’s compromised, skin becomes dehydrated, dull, and more prone to sun damage and irritation. ⁣ Sensitivity to products, tendency to break out, acne and chronic dry skin are all signs of a weakened skin barrier. ⁣ ⁣ Your barrier’s health has a direct impact on how your skin looks, feels, and how it ages!⁣ ⁣ 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐟𝐞𝐰 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐡𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐩 𝐝𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠:⁣ 1. Over-cleansing⁣ 2. Over-exfoliating⁣ 3. Washing your face using hot water⁣ 4. Using alcohol-based toner and fragrance-containing products⁣ 5. Unprotected exposure to sun’s UV rays ⁣ ⁣ 𝐀𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞’𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐝𝐨: ⁣ ⁣ ~ Hydrate continuously! A damaged epidermis requires moisture, so keeping your face and body well hydrated is critical in the fight to restore your barrier. Moisture-binding humectants such as glycerin, sorbitol, and hyaluronic acid are my favorites. ⁣ ⁣ ~ 𝐔𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐜𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬! An occlusive ingredient provides a protective seal over the surface of the skin and is critical to prevent loss of hydration. When choosing a face moisturizer, I always look for Dimethicone. If you have dry skin, choose a moisturizer with shea butter. For extra dry skin in the body, petrolatum will be your best friend. If you want something lighter than petrolatum, go for silicone based lotions. ⁣ ⁣ 𝐌𝐲 𝐟𝐚𝐯𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐛𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐫 𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬: ⁣ dimethicone, glycerin, ceramides, niacinamide, hyaluronic acid, panthenol, oat and aloe extract.⁣ ⁣ 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬: p.s all fragrance-free⁣ ⁣ 𝐎𝐢𝐥𝐲 𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐧: ⁣ 𝐂𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐫𝐬 - ceramides, niacinamide, dimethicone, HA. affordable and effective. ⁣ ⁣ 𝐍𝐞𝐮𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐚 𝐇𝐲𝐝𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐆𝐞𝐥 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐦 - dimethicone based. Basic, lightweight, but does a great job. ⁣ ⁣ 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐚𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐠𝐞𝐥 - my top recommendation for oily and sensitive skin. Wonderful for people with rosacea. Calms, hydrates, and protects skin with dimethicone, aloe extract and licorice root. ⁣ ⁣ 𝐃𝐫𝐲 𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐧:⁣ ⁣ 𝐄𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞 𝐇𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐒𝐨𝐨𝐧 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐠 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐦 - has panthenol and shea butter. Pretty no-nonsense. Although it has shea butter, I find this actually lightweight enough for oily skin. ⁣ ⁣ 𝐋𝐚 𝐑𝐨𝐜𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐨𝐬𝐚𝐲 𝐂𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐁𝐚𝐮𝐦𝐞 - multi-purpose soothing balm for dry skin irritations. Has glycerin, shea butter, panthenol. ⁣ ⁣ 𝐃𝐫𝐮𝐧𝐤 𝐄𝐥𝐞𝐩𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐢 - Glycerin based and combines signal peptides and amino acids. Has a long ingredients list, but overall still worked well with me. ⁣ ⁣ 𝐂𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐱 𝐔𝐥𝐭𝐫𝐚 𝐌𝐨𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐳𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐦 - contains Riceramide®-3 blend of plant-based ceramides, natural essential fatty acids and cholesterol, combined with soothing emollients and hyaluronic acid to help relieve chronically dry skin. ⁣ ⁣ ❣️𝐏𝐲𝐮𝐧𝐠𝐤𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐘𝐮𝐥 is a fragrance-free brand and uses a variety of root extracts and gentle ingredients to promote barrier restoration. I highly recommend the brand too!⁣ ⁣ 𝐅𝐨𝐫 𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐞𝐱𝐭𝐫𝐚 𝐝𝐫𝐲 𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐧:⁣ Vaseline, Aquaphor or 𝐂𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 (lanolin-free)⁣ ⁣ 𝐁𝐨𝐝𝐲 𝐋𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: ⁣ 𝐀𝐯𝐞𝐞𝐧𝐨 𝐃𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐲 𝐌𝐨𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐳𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐁𝐨𝐝𝐲 𝐋𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧- formulated with soothing oatmeal and rich emollients.⁣ ⁣ 𝐈𝐌𝐏𝐎𝐑𝐓𝐀𝐍𝐓: Don’t forget your 𝐬𝐮𝐧𝐬𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧𝐬! Find one you’ll love wearing every day❣️

My go-to skincare routine when I’m in the awkward period🤫
My go-to skincare routine when I’m in the awkward period🤫
Skin type: dry and acne-prone, sensitive in period The following skincare routine is specially designed for my period😆. As i mentioned before, I’m acne-prone skin but not sensitive most time. During the period, my skin would become super sensitive and easy to get pimples. Gentle and maintenance are my main concerns.  Step one:  Apply Clinique Dramatic Hydrating Jelly after cleaning.  Even I’m in the awkward period, hydration is my first concern. Dehydrated skin is hard to absorb the nutrient from further skincare steps. This Clinique Dramatic Hydrating Jelly claims that no oil and help lock the hydration of inner skin barrier, prevent skin from outside pollution. The little amount would go for a long way. While using it, I didn’t experience any breakouts. But remember, if you want to try this serum, a little amount is enough. The more amount of it you use, the harder to rinse. And may lead to the desquamation of horniness.  Step two: La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Baume B5 Cream will play the role of hydration locker.  As we all know, the process of water evaporation happens quickly. To build a strong wall is literally important. Most face creams are thick and nutrient. I admit that this kind of function is good. But during the period, refreshing, useful, and calming are necessary. B5 cream meets all expectations. Due to the thick creamy texture, it is strong enough to lock all nutrients. It’s doing good for calming my pimples. If I keep using it on my acne scars during the period, scars will tend to disappear or vanish, which is surprising.  Step three: To apply eye cream is always my last step. Because eye around the skin is too sensitive to general care. So I choose Lancôme renergie eye.  During the awkward period, my eye around the skin seems more sensitive than before. The dry lines and wrinkles are obviously during the period. Besides that, puffiness and inflamed eyes become my problems. This eye cream is not thick, creamy texture, and easy to spread. It some kind removed my puffiness. Hydration is ok. I could feel the firming function actually.  Here is the simplest and most useful skincare routine for me during the period.

What are some of the staples you started off with? 🥲 • #beautywithbodden

Learning to be patient!!
Learning to be patient!!
On November 1st I started my tretinoin journey and it has been one heck of a journey!! After finally getting through the worst of the purge pictured here, I can finally say I have no active acne! And I think the largest player here is actually SPIRONOLACTONE. My acne didn’t start until I had my Mirena IUD placed, so it makes sense that I needed to fix the hormones. Now to handle the scarring (patiently)... Salicylic Acid in My Routine
Salicylic Acid in My Routine
Ok so I already made a post about my thoughts on this mask The Ordinary - Salicylic Acid 2% Masque and I’ll admit I was a little harsh on it- but it’s because this mask is MESSY and I’m all about convenience and being able to quickly apply a product and not have to think about the details, is what makes me happy. However, a got a comment on that previous post (@MartaPol) and it was recommended that I apply this before I get in the shower and then rinse it off in there. I gave it a try and the mess issue is completely resolved this way! It’s still a little too much thought for a face mask for me personally , and I’m not usually a nighttime shower taker, but I will definitely be using the mask like this until I use it up! I’ll also note that this mask does make my face baby soft!! I always follow with a heavy duty moisturizer- my favorite for calming irritation is LA ROCHE-POSAY - Cicaplast Baume B5 for Dry Skin Irritations

Skincare for a Flawless Base 101
Skincare for a Flawless Base 101
I’ve been experimenting with skin prep since quarantine first started and I finally feel like I’ve found my go to for a flawless base!! Let me preface this by saying my skin type is normal and I’m currently on a retinoid so it’s a bit more sensitive and finicky than usual! It goes like this: I cleanse my face (if it’s in the morning I’ll use a gentle hydrating cleanser) Then I’ll spray my face with the Neutrogena - Radiant Makeup Setting Spray With Peptides Then I use two pumps of the Vichy serum and let it sink into my skin for about 2 minutes. Lastly, I use a tiinyyy amount of the LA ROCHE-POSAY - Cicaplast Baume B5 for Dry Skin Irritations and warm it up between my hands before rubbing it into my skin- concentrating on the areas that get more dry and staying away from my T Zone since I obviously get the most oily in that area. (Before applying foundation I make sure to let this concoction settle into my skin for at least 5 minutes) This may not work for you if you’re more on the oily side- if that’s the case I would recommend keeping everything the same except choose a lighter weight moisturizer that you know works under makeup.
