My Top 5 Foundations for Oily Skin
My Top 5 Foundations for Oily Skin
Here are my top 5 foundations for oily/combination/acne prone skin! These are by no means my only favorite foundations, just the ones I keep going back to. 1. ESTĒE LAUDER - Double Wear Stay-in-Place Foundation This matte, oil-free foundation controls oil all day. It’s sweat, heat and humidity-resistant, waterproof and 24-hour colour true. With buildable, medium-to-full coverage that feels lightweight and so comfortable. No touchups needed. Best for hot weather/ holidays. The only Downside is that it doesn’t come with a pump 2. MAYBELLINE - Fit Me! Matte & Poreless Foundation This foundation is a must have if you are looking for a good drugstore option for oily skin. It’s super affordable and gives a beautiful finish without feeling heavy on the skin. 3. HUDA BEAUTY - Fauxfilter Foundation is perfect for you if you are looking for full coverage. Just a couple of pumps go a long way. However, the formula isn’t ideal for anyone with dry skin or for people sensitive to string fragrances. 4. L'ORÉAL - Infallible Pro-Matte Liquid Longwear Foundation This formula blends unbelievably well and you can build this to completely full coverage! ! I'm beyond impressed for this being drugstore. 5. The Ordinary - Colours Coverage Foundation with SPF 15 this is my everyday foundation and gives good enough coverage. I just have to mix two different shades to get my color as the range is quiet limited but for the price I pay, I don’t mind. Always stay away form words like “dewy”, “luminous”, “shiny” , “glowy” if you have oily skin. Let me know if you have any questions.

Why Buy Tinted Moisturizer When You Can Make It?
Why Buy Tinted Moisturizer When You Can Make It?
Between an oil-based cleanser, water-based cleanser, acid exfoliant, retinoid, sunscreen, and moisturizer, the idea of investing in tinted moisturizer isn’t enticing. Especially when I already open both a moisturizer and foundation! So why not make my own tinted moisturizer? The Ordinary sent me a variety of their newly released foundations to try and while I love their Serum Foundation, the fuller coverage version wasn’t a fit for my sheer preference: perfect for repurposing! Step 1: Scoop out a dollop of your daily moisturizer. You don’t need much, about a dime or nickel size is usually more than enough for me when I use the spreadable and lightweight (but deeply hydrating) NATURIUM - Niacinamide Gel Cream 5% . Step 2: Dispense drop(s) of foundation onto moisturizer in palm. The amount used will vary depending on your coverage preference and the pigmentation of your foundation, but 1-2 drops is my sweet spot. I used a half-pump of The Ordinary - Colours Coverage Foundation with SPF 15 for the demonstration, to show how easy it is to get a rich pigment with a moisturizer! Step 3: Mix them together. I use a fingertip to mix them, being sure to carefully blend the products thoroughly so that there isn’t any patchiness. Step 4: Pat on your DIY tinted moisturizer! I find patting reduces the likelihood of pilling- some moisturizers may play better with some foundations, depending on a variety of factors like thickness and base (silicone, oil, water). #CheriePartner

From left to right swatched foundations all primed with TATCHA - The Liquid Silk Canvas: Featherweight Protective Primer First up is The Ordinary - Colours Coverage Foundation with SPF 15which is not the one I have the one I purchased is actually the ordinary serum foundations which is a weightless light coverage skincare foundation I ordered online from ulta and it’s quite cheap for foundations I believe being around $7 only reason I haven’t gotten a chance to use it is because I will have to mix it with a lighter color as it is quite dark Secondly NARS - Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation Is a nice formula not too drying and the shade shown is actually my “fall color” as I get lighter during these times. I thought it would be nice to show how light and dark ones skin can get with the seasons. I have always heard great things about nars and of course have their staple piece orgasm blush in not just compact but loose powder. Glad to have liked their foundation as well only negative is it is buildable coverage so I have to use quite a bit of product but still very smooth on the skin and long lasting! Best for last LANCÔME - Teint Idole Ultra Long Wear Foundation is my go to foundation now the shade is questionable as I used to tan a lot when I first bought it but if I do not keep up with the sun I do have to mix a drop of my nars in I do not know if I will repurchase but I’m definitely finishing this precut and that’s saying a lot as I only ever need two to three full pumps for my whole face Only thing I will say is it does dry out your skin so keep it moisturized and prime your face Love the fact it has spf one of my favorite spf profits is this item with only 15spf but that helps when your in a rush of forgot to apply sunblock ! But isn’t it crazy how wide our range of foundations can be?! Do you ladies have the same experience or the weather is pretty consistent in your city?

Updated 90s Grunge Look 🦇
Updated 90s Grunge Look 🦇
So I tried my hand at my version of a 90s grunge look. Make up is all about trial and error. I don’t think the end result was what I wanted but the beauty of make up is it washes off. I definitely want to try again in the future but I still wanted to post my first attempt. So I wanted to start this off stating that I do have oily skin so I tend to lead towards more mattifying products and I’m very fair with olive undertones (I’m Sicilian and Irish). First, I started off with my base as usual. The Ordinary - Colours Coverage Foundation with SPF 15 in shade 1.1N which is the closest I’ve found so far. I want to do an individual review soon but for the price this is an amazing matte foundation with coverage. Then, I use my finger to apply the NARS - Soft Matte Complete Concealer . I set the concealer with the laura mercier - Secret Brightening Powder for Under Eyes as it brightens up the area and helps my concealer crease a lot less and the URBAN DECAY - The Velvetizer Translucent Mix-in Medium for the face to keep my matte throughout the day. When I think 90s I think brown tones. That’s why I decided to keep it mainly to bronzer. I used the bronzer in the HOURGLASS - Ambient Lighting Face Palette to contour my face and give it some worth. I also want to do an individual review on this but spoiler alert the bronzer is amazing! Then I went to the eyes. For this look I used the ANASTASIA Beverly Hills - Soft Glam Eyeshadow Palette which I forgot how pigmented and beautiful it was. I think the key to 90s grunge is pulling the shades all the way through the crease. I fluffed orange soda all in my crease and then sienna on top of that. Afterwards I packed mulberry into the outer corner and blended it. Where I messed up was I took tempera and put it on the inner corner to open up the eye some (for an updated look) think it was a matte shade (I also think all matte when I think grunge) and it had some shimmer. I tight lined my eyes with the benefit - BADgal BANG! 24 Hour Eye Pencil and then did a little baby wing because I can’t not have winged eyeliner with the KVD VEGAN BEAUTY - KVD VEGAN BEAUTY Tattoo Liner . I finished off the eyes with my holy grail benefit - Roller Lash Curling & Lifting Mascara . When I think 90s I also think baby brows. Since I’m not plucking my eyebrows (😂😂) I decided to just add some benefit - Gimme Brow+ Volumizing Eyebrow Gel to give some color without actually drawing them in (I also have my eyebrows tinted right now). Then I ended the look with the DOSE OF COLORS - Stay Glossy Lip Gloss in That’s Cool which is a cool brown. In hindsight next time I do this I’ll be more careful to not do a shimmer on the lid and use a matte liquid lipstick but hindsight is 2020 🖤

A REALLY GOOD WAY TO SPEND $7
A REALLY GOOD WAY TO SPEND $7
As you all probably know, I’m more of a skincare person over makeup. I’m a totally beginner who doesn’t like to spend a lot of time of my face so once I find something that does the trick I’m usually set on it. So maybe the title was a little bit of a stretch cause the primer is $30, but honestly the foundation ($7) is amazing on its own too ✨ I’m a huge fan of The Ordinary - Colours Coverage Foundation with SPF 15 and wanted to show it in action the comparison is NIOD - Photography Fluid, Opacity 12% and TO foundation ONLY 😍 FOUNDATION : 💪🏼 |PERFORMANCE| This water based foundation glides evenly and smoothly over skin. It gives great coverage, and effectively covers my redness and hyperpigmentation! I like the final look that is more of a matte finish. My skin can get oily, so I typically use a setting powder and powder contour to finish off. 🤲🏻 |TEXTURE| the texture is thinner then most foundations I’ve used in the past but by no means runny. Personally I think it’s a really nice consistency. Their website describes it as a lightweight, non-oily cream 🌿 👃🏻|SCENT| This product doesn’t really give off anything other then like regular makeup smell ? Haha 💦 |INGREDIENTS| I feel like their aren’t any super notable or beneficial ingredients in these formulas ( other then having SPF of course which is always a bonus) but there also aren’t any ingredients that are going to cause harm to your skin 💛 💸 |VALUE| for $6.90 to me this foundation is a no brainer, it’s great value, and works like a charm. PRIMER: 💪🏼 |PERFORMANCE| I Reaaally like this product. As a person who’s skin has a lot of red undertones, I find this primer super useful for skin correcting. In the summertime I typically apply it just under some powder foundation and am impressed with the results. Initially when applied it almost looks sparkly and you can tell that is all the small particles catching the light so I think it needs to be covered with a light powder so that those particles can just sneak through at all the right times (especially when it comes to taking photos) 🤲🏻 |TEXTURE| a little bit thicker than a serum I would say, spreads nicely and sticks to skin and stays in place. Just be careful around eyebrows and hair line as it will stick to anything porous. 👃🏻|SCENT| this product is unscented, but does have an extremely light but pleasant cosmetic kind of smell. 💦 |INGREDIENTS| the ingredients in this product are vegan and cruelty free . NIOD as a brand overall is very science driven and I have a lot of respect for their trailblazing formulas and ingredients. 💸 |VALUE| the price of this bottle was $30 Canadian for 30ml, I find a little goes along way and you if we’re using it every single day it would probably still last you a couple months. This is my go to primer whenever I am wearing makeup and will continue to keep it as a staple in my makeup routine ❤️
