I Tried a Cherie User’s Foundation Tip
I Tried a Cherie User’s Foundation Tip
I recently posted a foundation inventory and mentioned I dislike the HOURGLASS - Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation Stick in the shade “alabaster”. I also posted a review of this foundation a few months ago. It always looks dry, cakey, and sometimes even oily + dry at the same time. Another Cherie user commented on my original review with a suggestion for application. I typically apply that foundation with a buffing brush or dense oval foundation brush because it’s quite thick and creamy. The user suggested applying less and using my fingers. They also suggested not setting the foundation with any powder. Yesterday I put that to the test! I prepped my face very well during my AM skincare routine w/ hydrating products and waited over an hour to apply my makeup. I applied my usual Touch in Sol primer (I’ve mentioned on Cherie numerous times) that smooths my skin a bit but isn’t super silicone-y feeling. I applied small swipes of the foundation and blended with my fingers. Honestly, I still hate this foundation. It’s just not good for me. I included some photos right after application, a few hours later, and at the end of my work day (appox. 7 hrs later). It very visibly clung to my dry patches immediately after application and throughout the day. It also noticeably settled into my smile lines next to my mouth within a few hours. I will say, though, that areas where I don’t have dry patches looked nice. The finish was less full coverage since I used less product and more natural because I blended with my fingers. No cake face here! The foundation looked basically the same all day long. I hope the scaly texture of my skin is coming through in the photos. So, ultimately I think that the tip was good but it doesn’t change my opinion of this foundation as someone with super dry skin who pretty much always has some dry patches. There’s other foundations that won’t emphasize those patches as much. I will be de-cluttering this foundation in the near future. In the swatch photo you can see I don’t have a ton left, so I definitely made an honest effort to use it a lot since purchasing in 2018. #CheriePartner

Unpopular Opinion: Hourglass Stick Foundation
Unpopular Opinion: Hourglass Stick Foundation
So I have a very unpopular opinion on this foundation. First of all, let me start by telling you my skin type. I have combo skin. It can vary depending on climate! In the winter I have really dry skin, with a an oily T-zone. Review: At first, I thought I was doing something wrong with my skin prep as the foundation seemed to be very dry and patchy. So I went ahead and removed everything and started to prep my skin and moisturize a bit extra, which I never have to do with any of my other favorite foundations. Upon application, I started seeing once again how dry the formula was, and how hard it is to move the foundation around. Don’t get me wrong, foundation looked really pretty once applied, the worst came when I set the foundation. I could tell how bad it was clinging to all the dry patches on my skin!! So my thoughts were, maybe I’m using the wrong primer, or I just got a bad batch. I gave the foundation a few more tries, and every time, foundation looked super dry and within a couple of hours, it started looking Super cakey and foundation started cracking! Keep in mind this is a $46 dollar foundation, I had really high expectations!!!! So I decided to go and change it, thinking I got a bad batch!!! Well, I was so happy coming home thinking that it was going to work for me this time!! Well no!! I just could not get it to work! I tried setting it with different techniques, tried not setting it, as it claims to be waterproof, tried different primers, but nothing worked!!!! I kept the foundation and I am on the verge of finishing it up, but I would not be repurchasing for sure! It is just not for me!!! 🥺🥺 do not spend your money, or get a sample before buying. Lesson learned for me!! 😭 HOURGLASS - Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation Stick

HOURGLASS - Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation Stick This foundation is supposed to be weightless, waterproof, full coverage and long wearing. For a stick foundation it’s very emollient and glides smoothly onto the face. The coverage is definitely full, and it has a super dewy finish. Because it’s so dewy, it doesn’t crack or dry up in my creases like some other full coverage foundations. Even with my oily skin I LOVED this foundation. This is the only dewy foundation I can really wear in the spring and summer without looking disgusting. It makes me look like I’m wearing a wet highlight even when I’m not wearing one. I wish you got more product in it but I would repurchase even at the full price $46. For reference I’m the shade Shell.

My foundation collection 🥳

Here's a rundown of every foundation I have and my rating/opinion on them (the ones I've owned for quite a bit)! Enjoy :) MAYBELLINE - Fit Me Matte + Poreless Liquid Foundation in 112 natural ivory - moves around a lot and isn't good for oily skin, since I found it to need lots of powder Glossier. - Perfecting Skin Tint in shades G10, 11 & 12 - they're tints, so don't expect full coverage - more like light-medium, you can build it up. I give them 4/5 stars bc they need to expand their shade range and bc I found I needed lots of powder to set this one. Rare Beauty - Liquid Touch Weightless Foundation in 140C - I'm so impressed by this one and I love it. So worth it and the shade range is really good. A good long wearing foundation and I didn't have any issues. Too Faced - Born This Way Natural Finish Foundation in seashell & cloud - I mix them together to get my perfect shade, since cloud is too light and seashell is too dark. Def one of the best foundations (if not the best) ever made. COVERGIRL - Clean Fresh Skin Milk Foundation in 510/porcelain - too light but not a bad foundation, more of a skin tint and the smell kinda bothers me I have yet to try all these in a wear test: DIOR - BACKSTAGE Face & Body Foundationin 1 cool rosy ARMANI beauty - Luminous Silk Foundation in 3.75 HOURGLASS - Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation Stickin vanilla ESTĒE LAUDER - Double Wear Stay-in-Place Foundation in 1C0 shell beautyblender - Bounce Liquid Whip Long Wear Foundationin 1.50 cool Charlotte Tilbury - Airbrush Flawless Longwear Foundationin 2 cool Next up to try: Fenty pro filt'r soft matte foundation and YSL all hours foundation - I have samples of both and I'm excited to try them

High-end foundation comparison 💁🏼‍♀️ PT 1
High-end foundation comparison 💁🏼‍♀️ PT 1
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays everyone! I wanted to share swatches of my new foundations that I got at Sephora. - ARMANI beauty - Luminous Silk Foundationin shade 3.75 - this shade is just a little too tan, so I'll mix some too faced btw foundation in shade cloud if I'm wearing it (the shade I use to lighten up foundation) and I love it because its so smooth and blends out like a dream. It reminds me of the NARS - Natural Radiant Longwear Foundationbc of the thickness and they blend out similarly. - beautyblender - BOUNCE Liquid Foundationin shade 1.50C - felt nice when I blended it, but my only problem with it is the bottle/container, since it really shoots out and if you push the button on the back (the pump) you have to press slowly even tho it requires a bit of force and you might be able to get a partial pump. Also, I don't like that the foundation can't be pumped directly onto a blender or brush - it goes right on the bottle & makes it dirty, plus you might have extra. In addition, the surface of the bottle might not be as sterile or clean (of course depending on if you clean it - but for example using the foundation after sitting out on a counter or in a makeup bag) as a sponge or brush. - Charlotte Tilbury - Airbrush Flawless Longwear Foundationin shade 2 cool - I really love how this foundation felt on my skin (even in the small area) and I feel like it's an equivalent of the armani foundation - like in a foundation match finder. - DIOR - BACKSTAGE Face & Body Foundationin shade 1 cool rosy - I like how the bottle is a squeeze bottle and not a pump one bc it's different and it seems like the product's packaging design is meant to be more hands-on and you can be more specific with applying it than a pump bottle foundation. I noticed when swatching that it's a little more liquidy than the others - specifically the armani one. - ESTĒE LAUDER - Double Wear Stay-in-Place Foundationin shade 1C0 shell - this is the foundation I've been most excited for bc of all the great reviews and how it's a holy grail for many. I have to say this one matches my skin tone the best and blends out very smoothly too. - HOURGLASS - Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation Stickin shade vanilla - this one's very pink and slightly darker than my skin tone, but that's ok, since I can use it for a light contour. Like I've said about lots of these is that they blend out smoothly, same w/this one Already had: - Rare Beauty - Liquid Touch Weightless Foundation in shade 140C - one of my faves - Too Faced - Born This Way Natural Finish Foundation in shade cloud - a little too light - Too Faced - Born This Way Natural Finish Foundation in shade seashell - slightly too dark but it's fine ✨✨PT 2 coming soon

LETS TALK FOUNDATIONS!!
LETS TALK FOUNDATIONS!!
Check out my video above on the different types of foundation and my recommendations for each foundation type! Below is how I would apply each type, how I would set each type and if I would choose between high-end vs drugstore. But first, make sure you cheer this post and follow. Also check out my IG @bealizbeauty. Powder how to apply: use a powder brush like MORPHE - Morphe X Jaclyn Hill JH01 Powder Brush. This is a great powder brush. You want to use a big fluffy dome shaped brush for powder foundation or you can use a beauty sponge for a more full coverage look. how I would set: you really don’t need to set powder foundation but you need to definitely use a makeup spray like MAC - MAC Prep + Prime Fix+ Finishing Mist to make sure you don’t look super cakey. high end vs drugstore: a great drugstore powder foundation is the MILANI - Conceal + Perfect Smooth Finish Cream to Powder. There are great dupes to higher end powder foundations as drugstore brands are starting to step up their quality game. So I would definitely go drugstore. Cream stick how to apply: definitely a dense foundation brush like MORPHE - Morphe X Jaclyn Hill JH03 Ride Or Die Foundation Brushor a beauty sponge like beautyblender - beautyblender Makeup Sponge. Using a foundation brush will give you more coverage where as the sponge will give you a natural look. how to set: definitely a loose powder like laura mercier - Translucent Loose Setting Powder or a compact like the MAYBELLINE - Fit Me Matte + Poreless Powderwould be the best way to set a cream foundation. drugstore or high end: doing some initial research, the HOURGLASS - Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation Stickis the most talked about stick foundation. I’ve never used a stick foundation but the Sephora reviews look pretty promising. Liquid: how to apply: beauty sponge like a beautyblender - beautyblender Makeup Spongehelps with blending and soaking up excess applied foundation how to set: baking and setting with a laura mercier - Translucent Loose Setting Powder has been the best combo with liquid foundation in my experience. drug store or high end: ugh this one is tough. I would’ve said drugstore because of the MAYBELLINE - Fit Me Matte + Poreless Liquid Foundationbut after recently using it, I have to change my answer and say high end. No matter what high end has always been a ride or die. The ARMANI beauty - Luminous Silk Foundationhas always been a tried and true foundation. It has never let me down AT ALL! Well hope y’all have enjoyed my in depth ted talk on foundations! Hope y’all find your holy grail foundation. Until tomorrow, Xoxo 💋 #CheriePartner #CherieCreator
