Battle of the Hydration Serums: Hyaluronic Acid
Me: Combination Skin, Eczema, Hormonal Acne, Very Sensitive. I had dehydrated, super oily skin for the longest time. I started using a hydrating serum (Drunk Elephant B-Hydra) and by giving my skin the hydration it desperately needed, I saw my sebum production reduce drastically. Over the years, I’ve used different HA-packed serums and want to share my experience. In the photo, they’re organized from thickest (Drunk Elephant) to thinnest (NIOD), but I’ll be ranking them from least to most favourite. 5. The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 is a fave of many budget ($6.80/30mL) routines. It is a goopy, odorless serum that’s not quite a liquid or a gel. It utilizes sodium hyaluronate and sodium hyaluronate crosspolymer as well as a couple other hydrating ingredients. Very basic. I used it twice a day. After applying, my skin felt hydrated- and tacky! It took a bit to dry down and made my moisturizer pill. But it did hydrate my skin nicely and didn’t irritate so it’s “okay”. I won’t purchase again. 4. THE inkey LIST - Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Serum is a good budget ($7.99/30mL) HA serum. It is a thin liquid serum that soaks in quickly. It not only includes sodium hyaluronate and actual hyaluronic acid, but other humectants and a couple peptides as well. It hydrated my skin and didn’t cause any pilling issues- plus I noticed some plumping after a couple weeks of twice-daily use. I would purchase this again if I was looking for a budget HA serum! 3. NIOD - Multi-Molecular Hyaluronic Complex is cool, but pricy at $60/30mL. the thinnest liquid of the group, it soaks in nearly instantly. The INCI list is stacked, including 15 forms of hyaluronic acid and HA precursors, plus peptides, for hydration, soothing, and anti-aging benefits. It soothed redness and made my skin feel so soft and hydrated, very plump, after twice daily use for a couple weeks. But the results aren’t worth the price since I use a separate peptide serum. I won’t repurchase. 2. DRUNK ELEPHANT - B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum is a bouncy gel with sodium hyaluronate, sodium hyaluronate crosspolymer, and niacinamide, it costs $48 for 50mL. It soaks in slowly but completely. Twice daily use for only a couple weeks transformed my skin- hydrated and less oily! It also includes pineapple ceramide and plant extracts. I enjoy this serum and can’t recommend it enough to oily/combo folks. I repurchase often as it’s so nice to layer with other serums without any pilling. 1. PAULA'S CHOICE - Hyaluronic Acid Booster is my favourite HA serum. Sodium hyaluronate, hyaluronic acid, 3 ceramides, and many other humectants beef up this INCI list. This serum has helped me so much with my eczema and any redness, making my skin plump, soft, more even, and wonderfully hydrated. It’s a “creamy” gel that I happily apply twice daily, with zero pilling. I’ll repurchase forever, even at $36/15mL.

💦 EMPTY 💦
I love Paulas choice as a brand but this product is just straight up overpriced in my opinion. This hyaluronic acid booster has a very light weight gel consistency that absorbs into the skin quickly and honestly reminds me of the drunk elephant serum. This one however is less expensive than the drunk elephant one but still overpriced in my opinion. I do think the one unique thing about this and the drunk elephant one is there gel consistency but I prefer something from the ordinary that is a more serum consistency and comes in at a fraction of the cost for more product. My biggest gripe with this product is that you don’t even get a full ounce around $30 I believe. So I would not recommend thisPAULA'S CHOICE - Hyaluronic Acid Booster solely for the price of the product.

Hey y’all! It’s my first post here and I wanted to share with you my skincare journey ~because oh my, that was challenging 🙅🏻♀️ Before the pandemic, I was dealing with acne, stubborn acne scars, hyperpigmentation, blackheads, dry skin ... Being in lockdown actually allowed me to refocus and take care of myself more seriously. I was able to fix my sleep schedule, have a healthy diet, and to be more cautious about the products I apply on my skin. I did saw some significant improvements on my skin. Here are some products that were really a game changer in my skincare routine💁🏻♀️ cleansers 🧼 DHC - Deep Cleansing Oil CeraVe - Hydrating Cream-To-Foam Cleanser L'OCCITANE - Immortelle Precious Cleansing Foam (in the AM) Toners💧 PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliator YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Kombucha + 11% AHA Exfoliation Power Toner Avène - Thermal Spring Water Spray serums🧪 The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% The Ordinary - Retinol 0.5% in Squalane (in the PM) PAULA'S CHOICE - Resist C15 Super Booster (in the AM) PAULA'S CHOICE - 10% Azelaic Acid Booster PAULA'S CHOICE - Hyaluronic Acid Booster #Ducray - Keracnyl sérum[products]#[FiveStars] (my all time favorite 😻) moisturizers🧴 THE FACE SHOP - Advanced, Cica Recovery Cream CeraVe - Renewing SA Lotion #Erborian - Red Pepper Pulp[products]#[FiveStars] CeraVe - PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion (in the PM) sunscreen 🌞 Neutrogena - UltraSheer Face Sunscreen SPF 60 #Ducray - Melascreen UV[products]#[FourStars]

Ingredient Breakdown: Ceramides
Ceramides are a lipid that already exist in the strateum corneum, the outermost layer of skin. In fact, your skin is made up of around 50% ceramides! Ceramides hold together skin cells, preventing moisture loss and retaining firmness. UV damage and pollution destroy the number and quality of the ceramides in your skin, leading to loss of the supple feeling of skin, decreased visible smoothness, as well as increasing the likelihood of sensitivity and irritation. I love using ceramides to address both my sensitivity issues (hey eczema fam!) and for youth-promotion. For sensitivity, it shouldn’t take long to feel and see results like reduced redness and increased smoothness, but aging skin should expect a wait time of months for fine line and firmness improvement. I have combination skin, so I love these three products for adding ceramides to my routine without being too heavy for my oily forehead and nose, but offering the hydration my dry cheeks and eye areas need! DRUNK ELEPHANT - Lala Retro Whipped Cream has been my favourite moisturizer throughout my super oily pre-niacinamide days and my super dry eczema flare-ups. It is fluffy and easily absorbed, but layers easily with extra hydrating and moisturizing serums. PAULA'S CHOICE - Omega + Complex Serum should be in every sensitive, aging, or dry skin routine. It is light but packs a serious moisturizing and soothing punch. I also recommend it to oily/combination folks when using exfoliants or retinol, to help reduce the likelihood of irritation! PAULA'S CHOICE - Hyaluronic Acid Booster is amazing. Everyone should try this, legitimately. Actual hyaluronic acid plus popular sodium hyaluronate offer light, soothing hydration while cholesterol and ceramide help to retain that hydration without oiliness. It’s perfect for treating skin issues like sensitivity, dehydration, and a damaged skin barrier from overexfoliation or retinol.

You’re new best friend HYALURONIC ACID
Hyaluronic acid? Who is she? She’s your new best friend also called “hyaluronan” hyaluronic acid is found naturally in your body, it’s in your eyes, skin, and connective tissue (she does it all.) hyaluronic acid main function is to retain moisture, it can hold up to 1000x times it weight in moisture! So what is it gonna do? It is going to trap that moisture from the air suck it in and slap it right onto your pretty perfect face And keep your skin hydrated, smooth, plump, and cute! Once it does that it’s actually going to tell your sebaceous gland to slow down on the production of sebum, so if you have oily dehydrated skin this will work the wonders you’ve been looking for. Hyaluronic has plentiful of Benefits, it helps wounds especially from acne so it will help heal instead of scar. Sense your body produces hyaluronic acid it’s actually very rare for someone to have allergic reaction to this ingredient! What I’ve done is put together 3 products ranging from $5 to $100 let’s say hi and talk about them! The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 the ordinary brand has been making its way across social media and I have to say for around $5 you can’t beat it, it has 15 forms of hyaluronic acid & B5 that enhances hydration but one of the negatives is that it has a PH level of 6-7.5 your skin needs to stay between 4.5-5.5 so after using this product you will need a nice toner to bring your skin balance back down to the proper PH. PAULA'S CHOICE - Hyaluronic Acid Booster Paulas choice has been around for A long time! She knows what she’s doing out there 💋 after water hyaluronic is the 3rd ingredient in this product and has been apart of 7 RESEARCH STUDYS SENSE 2003! For a whopping $36 I think if you have the extra coin to try it! Now with this product there are more Pro reviews than there are CONS but on the CON side the main issue seems to be people are having reactions to other ingredients in this product. SKINCEUTICALS - Hyaluronic Acid Intensifier Serum THIS RIGHT HERE! She is one of the top products recommended by dermatologist out on the market she goes for a hefty $100 but lets dive a little deeper, 10% proxy lane which helps the hyaluronic acid levels on your skin stay balanced for a longer time 0.2% purple rice extract, helps preserve hyaluronic acid 1.3% hyaluronic acid (this is the golden number of how much hyaluronic acid you would want in a product) With these ingredients it’s amplifies hyaluronic acid by 30%! Hope this helped you beautiful people out just a little, please follow me for more product knowledge and next time we will dig deeper into KNOWING YOUR CORRECT SKIN TYPE! Stay beautiful stay sexy, you all are perfect the way you are💋❤️

BLACK GIRL SUNSCREEN - Black Girl Sunscreen SPF 30 ( You Don’t have to be a black girl for this sunblock!) anyone can use it. Choose one you like. Just be sure to wear it! This is why I went back to school to be a Licensed esthetician to learn all about skin. Due to my acne prone skin as I grew up. Unfortunately, as we grow into a young woman there are many factors when breaking out. Some of the advise I will give you is not a dyignose. It’s simply a few suggestions to help you. I would first ask you what are you ingesting? /eating? There could be something that causing you internally to have breakouts. I would suggest finding a certified and licensed hormonist/Nutrionist, or an Allergist in your area, who can take blood to first see if there is something you could be allergic to. Or take a journal of thr food you could be eating to see when the breakouts occur. This way you can limit the foods that causes these acne prone Accuracies that you might be happening. Also, with hormones you could be experiencing changes with too much extregen or not enough or what ever your doctor sees in your bloom that’s happening with your body. I had mine checked, and I was producing to much estrogen. Which was causing me to break out. That’s just me. The right doctor will help you. Second (2nd), ans in the meantime to help the topical part of your skin until you’re healed internally. Get a AHA/BHA Exfoliating cleanser. This will help with drying up any oily prone skin and acne. AHA/BHA with A blend of Salicylic, lactic, and Glycolic acids helps deep clean oil and dry up acne, but will also help polish dull dry skin without irritation. Which includes enZymes that will help nourish your under layer of skin. Which you mentioned your skin gets dry. It will help it. Also, please stop using the witch hazel. That’s not helping you. This cleanser will help with cell turnover for new skin. It will cleanse any pull impurities out of your skin and will help polish off dead skin. And reduce acne. Do this about 1-2 days a week. The Murad “age Reform” is great for this acne prone skin. Third (3), maybe use a clay mask to help bring up impurities out of the deeper layer of skin. And then a great toner to help bring your skins PH back to balance. I also suggest getting a great Vitamin C serum. This will help with brightening your skin and rebuilding new cells to produce new skin as it pushes up to the top layer of your skin. This should be in your regime daily. I love the Sonage Vitamin C. Then I suggest Either Pink Elephant, or Dermotoligica. They don’t have harsh chemicals. Which from my experience I love using these products on myself. And lastly, then try a great Moisturizer, such as Dr. lancer “Nourish”. Which will help bring back luster and hydration back to your skin without being greasy. End with a sunblock to be sure to protect all of your efforts. Sunblock will also protect your from the sun rays. This sunblock is mandatory. In this process of products a great way to remember the steps in product application is to go from thin water base products to thin for better product penetration into the skin. That has helped me over the years. No matter what! Now some of these products can be a bit pricey. ( it’s all subjective) However, they do have a bit more ingredients in them to help with product results and product penetration. Again, these are only suggestions. You can do whatever you choose. I’m glad that you asked me for help. I’m sure you will see results over the next month or two. If you need anymore help, please reach out to me. I would love to help you more. Try this in the meantime, I’ll try to list all the products I suggested and please keep me updated. Good luck! You will be fine with all the great suggestions. Take what you can use and execute! #Cheriecreater #CheriebeautyExpert @DLashes

The Importance of Finding Your Skin ConfidenceCherie creator @Chardeny shares how she found confidence through her skincare journey.Feb. 4
My Mental Wellness Improved Through My Self AcceptanceWhen I was around 13 or 14 years old, I remember routinely taking one of my older sister’s black eyeliner pencils before school every morning. I’d arrive early so that I could slip away to the girl’s bathroom to apply a single black line to my eyelids. My parents didn’t allow me to wear any makeup at the time. Although this smudgy line on my eyelids didn’t make me look all that much different, I never felt comfortable at school without it. My teenage mind convinced myself that I needed some sort of cosmetic symbol in order to appropriately express my femininity. Up until that point in my life, society had told girls that looked like me - tall, Black, and with kinky hair - that we somehow weren’t as beautiful as the other girls. For far too long, I believed it too.Feb. 17
