Ingredient spotlight: aloe propolis gel
Benton is an Asian skincare brand with very affordable price points. When I recently ran out of my gel moisturizer, I decided to try this Aloe Propolis Soothing gel as a more affordable alternative, and so far I really enjoy it. As the product name indicates, the main ingredients are aloe from the aloe vera plant, and propolis, an ingredient derived from beehives. This product is therefore not vegan. Aloe is a great ingredient for soothing, moisturizing, and fading scarring, and propolis is a great anti-inflammatory. I got this because I deal with acne and acne scarring and this seemed like a good fit for my skin. As you can see in the second picture, the texture is a gel (very much like natural aloe gel, as that makes up 80% of the formulation) that spreads and absorbs easily. I mix this with a few drops of Biossance squalane and it leaves my skin feeling bright and moisturized. This product is around $12 for 100ml, and honestly I would recommend it to anyone whose skin needs some affordable soothing, This is the product I reach for if my skin is ever stinging or red, or just if I want to take a break from harsher products. I will definitely be repurchasing.
