My Favorite Foundations ✨💖 (glowy & natural)
My Favorite Foundations ✨💖 (glowy & natural)
I have normal to combination skin. So for most of the year I have normal skin but when I’m somewhere more humid and hot during the summer months (like Hong Kong or NYC summers!) I can get a little shiny in the T-zone. What I look for in a foundation is one that won’t mask my skin- a solid medium coverage foundation is probably is highest coverage I’d go for. I like something lightweight and buildable on the skin! In terms of finish, I like a satin finish for the hotter months and something more hydrating and dewy for the drier months. In no particular order, here is my foundation collection (AKA all the foundations I love): MAC - MAC Studio Face and Body Foundation in C2 This is a serumy foundation that feels lightweight and provides light coverage, at first, but when you work it more into the skin, the coverage magically builds up! It’s so hard to describe but it actually happens on the skin! This is great for a natural finish on the skin. MAKE UP FOR EVER - Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation in Y245 This is great all-rounded foundation. It’s medium coverage but feels super lightweight on the skin and looks just like skin! It has a huge range of shades based on undertones which I really appreciate. This also looks amazing in photos and videos! MAKE UP FOR EVER - Ultra HD Perfector Skin Tint Foundation SPF 25 This is like the little sister of the Ultra HD Foundation. It’s less coverage and acts like a tinted moisturizer. I love this for most days because it evens out the skin really well and looks super natural. It’s also the most lightweight feeling of my collection! ARMANI beauty - Luminous Silk Foundation in 4 This is probably has the highest coverage of the bunch but still looks so natural on the skin. It’s never cakey! It dries down to a satin finish so I never feel the need to set it but I just love how flawless it makes my skin look. This is my go-to for night outs when I want my face to look flawless and smooth. Kosas - Tinted Face Oil Foundation in 4 This foundation has the most unique formula I’ve tried. It’s an oil-based foundation and comes in a shaker bottle. When you pour it out, it’s super runny but smooths onto the skin like a serum. It’s super thin feeling but honestly gives a lot of coverage. It’s super glowy and dewy so I would definitely set my face after using it. I tend to reach for it during winter the most because my face can alwats use more of that glow. It makes your skin look smooth and flawless.

Everyday makeup look with products I’m loving!

This year has me focused on my skin so on a daily basis I like using lightweight face make up instead of a full coverage foundation. I’ve been opting for using my fingers for blending and more cream products. Here is what I’ve been using and loving! 1. MAC - MAC Studio Face and Body Foundation great for light dewy coverage 2. I blend it in with the REAL TECHNIQUES - Miracle Face + Body Sponge, 1 Sponge 3. Then I use my fingers to tap in NARS - Soft Matte Complete Concealer in ginger 4. Iight set with NARS - Soft Velvet Pressed Powder 5. I use the CHANEL - SOLEIL TAN DE Bronzing Makeup Base for a light bronzing effect 7. For blush I’ve been LOVING Rare Beauty - Soft Pinch Liquid Blush 8. Then a little brow with ANASTASIA Beverly Hills - ANASTASIA Beverly Hills Brow Powder Duo in ebony 9. I use the light brown in the duo and smudge on my lash line 10. For mascara I’ve been using benefit - Big Lash Adventure Mascara Holiday Value Set 11. I love my current lip combo way too much #Mac - Lip liner[products]#[FiveStars] in stone and MAC - Powder Kiss Lipstick so creamy and the perfect pinky nude

Most of my favorites!!!
Most of my favorites!!!
I like this foundation by Lancôme, it’s great for every day use but very sheer coverage! Gets tacky if I use layers to build coverage! Also this is a little dark then my shade I never find the perfect tone for my skin with Lancôme!!! The Chanel foundation is something that I don’t like because it turns toooo greasy on my oily skin! Rarely used this! My most favorite full coverage and glowy foundation is by NARS I kind of used it so so much so radiant & light love this!!! Another favorite is by Mac I tried mixing this foundation with a lot of BB creams this mixed with any foundation gives a perfect skin without drying the skin! The Nars radiant concealer is another best concealer ever! Stays long and conceals perfectly! No crease at all, doesn’t dry out on makeup! The double wear concealer is a huge flop in my case doesn’t do a thing! pricy too. 🤷🏻‍♀️

So I like playing with my makeup, and mixing different things and seeing what happens. After quarantining in Florida, I came back to the Northeast prettyyyyyy dark, compared to my normal skin tone. So I had to fix my foundation accordingly. And I know that I become a bit lighter during the fall and winter times since I’m not outside all of the time. This is my fall/winter foundation color. I mixed PÜR - 4-in-1 Liquid Foundation (I forget the shade name) and some of my leftover MAC - MAC Studio Face and Body Foundation in C6 together in a cleaned out tin box. I like my winter shade to be a bit dewy and a little on the shimmery side. So I added some regular face lotion (up to your own preferences) and some yellow, gold, and white eyeshadows that I don’t usually wear from the #Morphe - 35U multi-color shimmer[products]#[FiveStars] palette. (Might be discontinued I’m not sure...) Might as well use the products in another way instead of throwing it out. So I keep mixing and adding different things as I test out the shade. If it’s too light, add a dark matte brown shade. If it’s too light, add either a matte white or some lotion! Thanks to quarantine, I’m a little lighter than this shade, but I fix that with baby powder on top of the foundation. Of course you can add products you know work with your skin type and skin tone. That’s the beauty of playing with makeup. Have fun!

Why I’ll always prefer liquid foundation over mineral powder
Why I’ll always prefer liquid foundation over mineral powder
For years I’ve used the same MAC Face and Body Foundation. I like its dewy look and the consistency makes it easy to blend – it’s water-based and light so it always looks natural. I tend to go for a somewhat bare make-up look and I find even when I use more product, I never get full, thick coverage. I used to use a brush to apply, but a make-up artist told me to use my fingers because with this product you want to blend until it gives you a bit of resistance. I use N1 in winter (because I’m pale and I have pink undertones in my skin) and N2 in summer. I wanted to try something new, and I have friends who swear by bareMinerals – a mineral based foundation that adapts to your natural skin tone. I went for Fair 01 which is the lightest pigment. There are two options, a matte finish and a dewy finish. I chose dewy because it’s the make-up look I like, I find matte reminds me of what I wore in the early 00s (when I made a lot of fashion faux pas). I gave it a go but I only use it occasionally. It does even out the skintone, but I miss the liquid look that gives my skin moisture and makes it look more alive and youthful. I like using Bare Minerals on days when I don’t want to wear much make-up. It’s good for really hot days, because in summer liquid foundation can smudge, and if I’m going out at night I will apply powder over liquid foundation for more coverage. BareMinerals is a nice-to-have, but of the two I’ll stick by liquid.

Love the hydrated and healthy glow that all of these products give me. I know I've already raved about the Megababe, cloud paints & CoverFx blush. But Mac Face and Body is truly a holy grail. If you haven't tried this foundation yet, I 10/10 recommend Xx ❤️
