Here’s how to take care of oily acne-prone skin☺
Most of us acne patients suffer from oily skin. Excess sebum produced by our skin may clog pores which eventually leads to acne. In this post, I’d like to share my top tricks in controlling my oily acne-prone skin and hopefully be able to help even at least one of you 🙈☺️ 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐃𝐎𝐬: 1. 𝐃𝐎 𝐰𝐚𝐬𝐡 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐚𝐭 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐰𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐚 𝐝𝐚𝐲. This has always worked for me. Sometime before, I tried not washing my face in the AM and it just made me so much oilier during the day resulting in more breakouts. Importantly, remember to wash your face every after workout too. Sweat combined with sebum is a perfect recipe for acne and skin irritation. 𝟐. 𝐃𝐎 𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐚 𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐬𝐡. Although salicylic acid cleanser helped tremendously in my teenage years, it isn’t necessarily beneficial for me now that my skin is more dehydrated and my skin barrier compromised. Salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide cleansers may still help on days when you’re feeling extra oily but resist using it daily. Use a gentle foaming face wash from Vanicream, Hada Labo, Cerave. 𝟑. 𝐃𝐎 𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐚 𝐦𝐨𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐫 𝐝𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐲. You can have oily skin and dehydrated skin at the same time. Because your face is not hydrated enough, your glands may overcompensate for the lack of moisture by producing more oils. Do not ever skip this step! Your best option is to use an oil-free, non-comedogenic moisturizer like Paula’s Choice Clear Oil-Free Moisturizer, Neutrogena oil-free and hydroboost gel cream, and if you have rosacea too, use procure rosacare gel. 𝟒. 𝐃𝐎 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐲 𝐬𝐮𝐧 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧. SPF 30+ or up should always be worn especially for oily skin. Unprotected sun exposure can lead to more acne flare-ups. Zinc oxide and titanium dioxide mineral sunscreens are your top options. Zinc doesn’t only protect skin but also helps calm irritated skin. My favorites are Elta MD physical and Purito Water, Clinique Broad Spectrum, .. If you like chemical sunscreen better, I highly recommend Eucerin and Sun BUm. 𝟓. 𝐃𝐎 𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐨𝐩𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬. Keratolytic ingredients such as benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid that are available over-the-counter can be your best friends when used properly. It is important to note that when using an active, stick to a minimal skincare routine to reap the best results and use of one acne treatment at a time is a must, especially if you’re just starting out. If you have moderate to severe acne, I would go for Differin Adapalene gel or a retinoid such as Retin-A and Atralin. Retinoids may not only get rid of your acne but also heal and renew your skin in the deeper layers. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐃𝐎𝐍’𝐓𝐬: 𝟏. 𝐃𝐎𝐍'𝐓 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫-𝐞𝐱𝐟𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐞. Over-exfoliating is probably something we’re all once obsessed with. Unfortunately, this habit can only lead us to a damaged skin barrier thus, compromising our skin’s own ability to heal itself. It’s best to limit the use of exfoliating ingredients twice a week when starting or one exfoliating acid/active at a time once a day after your skin has adjusted. 𝟐. 𝐃𝐎𝐍’𝐓 𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐟𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞. I say it all the time, fragrance in skincare is BAD and does nothing good for you. The use of fragrance in cosmeceutical products is unregulated and companies are not required to disclose all components used in their products. The formulation may have a lot of unknown toxic chemicals that can be harmful to you. Without knowing and often initially not externally evident, fragrance can irritate your skin deep down, cause toxic hormonal effects, and may even cause cancer. Fragrance is a NO-NO for everyone and most especially for acne-prone people or those with other skin diseases. I have suffered the consequences of my bad choices myself. Do yourself a favor and ditch your fragrance-containing products too. 𝟑. 𝐃𝐎𝐍’𝐓 𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐚𝐥𝐜𝐨𝐡𝐨𝐥-𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐬. Certain types of alcohol such as ethanol, isopropyl alcohol, and alcohol denat. are extremely drying and irritating especially to acne-prone skin. 𝟒. 𝐃𝐎𝐍’𝐓 𝐬𝐥𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐢𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐮𝐩. Always make sure you wash away all makeup and accumulated dirt on the face before you sleep. 𝟓. 𝐃𝐎𝐍’𝐓 𝐬𝐥𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐨𝐧 𝐝𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐲 𝐩𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐜𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐬. Change your pillowcases frequently. I always make sure I sleep on new ones every week. 𝟔. 𝐃𝐎𝐍’𝐓 𝐤𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐭𝐨𝐮𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐞. Picking at your acne can only add dirt and germs to your skin and may cause more issues. Frequently wash your hands if you’re an absent-minded face rubber or cover the pimples with acne patches. Pyunkang Yul- Essence Toner
An Amazing Toner for Dry Skin
I love receiving subscription boxes, so when this Pyunkang Yul - Essence Toner arrived in my BomiBox I was excited to try it out. This 3.4 oz version retails for $12, and when I am through with the bottle I absolutely see myself repurchasing this. It has a juicy texture- it’s not quite a thin serum, but it’s a little thicker than regular water. I apply it after my FIRST AID BEAUTY - Facial Radiance Pads to add some moisture and prep my skin for the serums that follow. Applying serums to damp skin helps your treatments soak into your skin better, meaning in the long run you use less product. I really try to focus on layering hydrating steps in my skincare routine since I have dry skin that’s occasionally sensitive, and this is like a liquid hug for my face. One thing that makes this Toner so hydrating is that the base isn’t water like most toners (or skincare products in general)- its Base is milk vecht root extract, which is an antioxidant packed emollient. This toner is also alcohol, fragrance, and essential oil-free, making it a great hydrating toner for those who have sensitive skin along with dryness. I’ve been using it consistently for over two weeks, and it absolutely is a repurchase for me. I love the affordable price tag, and will absolutely re-purchase this and recommend it to anyone who needs more hydration in their skincare routine. The combination of the affordable price and effectiveness as a hydrating toner makes this a five out of five on the Cherie star rating system.

✨🌸 What's in my bathroom? 🌸✨
Hey everyone! This is my first post! 🥰 I decided to start off with this kind of post because this batch of skincare is my first ever! (I have only been consciously aware of my skincare for about two months now) So I'm always reevaluating my routine 😅 My skin type: combination;mostly dry but specifically oily in the creases of my nose. Prone to sensitivity, redness, and dehydration. Lets talk products! ♡CLEANSERS♡ Dr.Ceuracle - Pro Balance Pure Cleansing Oil Love this gentle oil cleanser! I only occasionally wear mascara(not waterproof) and it takes that off no problem with zero eye irritation! ANDALOU NATURALS - CannaCell Cleansing Foam Amazing, gentle, pure foam cleanser! Does not feel drying or make my skin tight after use, even without my oil cleanser! Pyunkang Yul - Low pH Pore Deep Cleansing Foam I have only used this about 3 times; each time after use I seem to get slight irritation, but doesn't last longer than 10-15 minutes or the rest of my products calm it down. ♡TONERS♡ pixi - Rose Tonic I love the rose smell(natural fragrance) and it can be a bit sticky after applying but doesn't bother me. pixi - Vitamin-C Tonic I feel like this toner is a great introduction to Vit C in skincare. I have "virgin" skin so this even tingles a little, but zero irritation even when I do 2-3 layers. COSRX - BHA Blackhead Power Liquid Very hydrating exfoliating toner and it leaves my skin so soft. This does not irritate my sensitive skin at all!(I only use 1-2 times a week) Pyunkang Yul - Essence Toner Honestly underwhelmed for the hype I heard about it. Still giving it a chance. Fleur & Bee - Rose and Shine / Natural Rose Water Toner Just a convenient hydrating mist. ♡SERUMS/OILS♡ Pyunkang Yul - Pyunkang Yul Moisture Serum Very nice to apply, great for layering Krave - Great Barrier Relief 100% WORTH THE HYPE essano - Certified Rosehip Oil I can't rate this yet(only used once so far) but overall first application was soothing! ♡MOISTURIZERS♡ Krave - Oat So Simple Water Cream Personally not hydrating enough alone for my dry skin, but a great base cream for me to layer with others due to the clean ingredients list. Pyunkang Yul - Pyunkang Yul Moisture Cream Great cream; however, the lid does have some black flakes of something that fall into the product when screwing it on and off. Neutrogena - Hydro Boost Gel-Cream Mediocre gel cream, not hydrating enough for me and the ingredients aren't the greatest. ANDALOU NATURALS - Luminous Night Cream Purple Carrot + C I love the thickness of this, but sometimes I wake in the morning with a weird tight flilmy feeling on my face. #Murad - Age Reform Perfecting Night Cream[products]# Honestly just bought this because it was on clearance😅 so we'll see how it goes Up next: my first detox mask, my sunscreens and a natural deodorant! ♡🌸✨

Meet my Favorite K-Beauty Brand💐
𝐏𝐲𝐮𝐧𝐤𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐘𝐮𝐥 is a skincare brand launched by the renowned Pyunkang Oriental Medicine Clinic, an institution well-known for treating atopic skin disorders. Although I have not talked about them much online, Pyungkang Yul has been one of my favorite brands and I have always enjoyed most of the products they’ve offered. I like that they are using traditional ingredients and promoting a minimalist approach to skin care. Pyungkang Yul uses only the gentle, yet effective ingredients to help find the optimum balance for your skin. I have combination/oily skin and also acne-prone and here’s my top three recommendations that I think are most suitable for my skin type: Pyunkang Yul - Essence Toner ~ intensely hydrating formula designed to deliver nutrient-filled moisture to skin. Made up of 𝟗𝟏.𝟑% 𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐤 𝐯𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐭 𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐭 𝐞𝐱𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭, full of skin-beneficial betaine and minerals. With the antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, nutrient-boosting properties of the root extract, this gel-type toner quickly absorbs to hydrate and strengthen skin. ~ LOVE THIS. It has added so much hydration and moisture to my skin. I don’t use toner regularly but it’s a nice product to give your skin an extra oomph when it needs it. This is very gentle and works without causing irritation and disrupting the skin barrier. Other serums and moisturizers layer on top of this beautifully. It feels very balancing, anti-inflammatory and hydrating; all with so few natural ingredients. This literally makes my skin feel cool and calmed. Even better when stored in the fridge so it’s even more refreshing on irritated or hot skin. I highly recommend it! Pyunkang Yul - Pyunkang Yul Moisture Cream ~ enriched with 𝐂𝐨𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐬 𝐉𝐚𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚 𝐑𝐨𝐨𝐭 𝐄𝐱𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭 for an intensive, everyday treat for your skin. Creamy and rich, this luxurious formula is buttery smooth without being heavy or greasy, absorbing quickly into your skin and leaving it hydrated and bouncy. ~ This was a skin saver when I was starting with Tretinoin and was experiencing dryness in the first few weeks. But still enjoy using it until now. The cream is very moisturizing but not too heavy which makes it still tolerable for oily skin. The texture is silky smooth which is a pleasure to apply and massage onto the face. This does not leave my skin oily or greasy -- it leaves a slight glow when you first apply it but sinks in beautifully overnight. Pyunkang Yul - Peeling Gel ~ moisturizing peeling gel that gently exfoliates and boosts skin moisture with 𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐨𝐢𝐧 𝐞𝐱𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐲 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐟 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐭 to promote radiance. ~ Absolutely love this. I try to use it every now and then to just kind of get rid of extra dead skin cells and excess oil. I apply on dry skin, leave it on for about 2 minutes and start gently massaging it. The product gently catches dead skin cells on the surface of the skin. Easy to use and you see the results right away. The value is a big plus. It’s very affordable at $14.99 compared to my other favorite, The Cure Aqua Gel. It smells a little bit medicinal but not irritatingly so. Definitely worth a try for oily, acne-prone gals like me!

Pyunkang Yul set
Yes along with the eye cream I did do a little Pyunkang Yul haul. Let me tell you about these products. They were formulated by Korean dermatologists, so you know it’s the good stuff. The foaming cleanser? Very misleading yet better then expected. It doesn’t foam up much it’s so much like a cream cleanser it just makes my face feel so good when I use it. When I run out I have the full size of this baby right in my shopping cart ready to press buy. It does have a strong scent of lemons but I like the smell a lot so doesn’t bother me, it’s very soothing in my opinion 5/5 The essence/toner: this baby does have a scent too but it’s more of a natural herbal scent. I use it as an essence and it does moisturize my face very well and gets it prepped for my moisturizer. The scent isn’t bad at all reminds me of maple syrup actually. So far so good no acne from it and my skin is looking better in my opinion 5/5 Nutrition cream: this one is unscented (score!) and it hydrates soooo well. Oof this is a very good face cream for my combo and dry gals. It soaks in amazingly and makes my skin hydrated all day long. It is very similar to their intensive repair cream so that’s a head scratcher. Still 5/5 I like it a lot
