My most re-purchased Ordinary products
Okay so, I have tried 21 products from The Ordinary so far over three-ish years. It might not seem like too many, but man to my skin it feels like a lot of trial and error. But I wanted to go back and narrow down my collection to my most repurchased Ordinary products. These are the ones that work best for my combo / acne prone skin and keep me coming back for more! And of course, as you know, they are all very affordable. The Ordinary - Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution I absolutely love this toner / chemical exfoliator. I use it 1 time a week during my evening routine and wouldn’t use it more than that because it can be a bit sensitizing. But every time I use this toner, the next morning my texture and pores are visibly reduced and my skin looks smooth and glow-y. You get quite a good amount of product and it typically lasts me at least 4 months. The Ordinary - Salicylic Acid 2% Masque I like this mask a lot! It’s great for taking on oil skin or the occasional pimple. The salicylic acid and charcoal make this feel very cleansing and satisfying. I do prefer this to the salicylic acid serum because I have found that to be a bit too drying if I leave it on the skin. I mentioned in another review that this product didn’t help me get rid of all my acne, but it definitely helped. I use this once every 1-2 weeks or whenever my skin needs a little detox. The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 I love this serum in the winter. I don’t often get dry spots, but if I see that my skin if feeling a little dry in any area, I’ll just pat a bit of this on under my moisturizer and then I’m good to go. Sometimes I use this on my legs if they are especially dry. I also really like how the ordinary has started to sell bigger bottles of some key products. As a consistent user, I like the bigger bottle because it leads to less waste. The Ordinary - ''Buffet'' I’m a big fan of Buffet. I use this probably 2x a week, or sometimes more if I want to give my skin a break from actives and just want to make my skin feel extra plump. The formula is very hydrating and although I have my doubts about products that claim anti-wrinkle benefits, I do think my skin looks smoother after using it. The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution This is kind of a cheat... because I repurchased this is after my first one fell and smashed on the bathroom floor. 🙃 BUT I am happy I repurchased it because when I do use this my skin looks so so good the next morning. Particularly my skin tone and pores look much better the next day. I use this probably more like 1x every two weeks because I swear no matter how little product I apply it does sting a little. And that’s probably not good... but I’ll justify it with glowy skin. And shout out to my trusty The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% that is also amazing but missing from the pic! 🥰
I have come so far!! One month of dedication
It’s insane how far a little education on specific ingredients that target your skin needs will get you!! I am pharmacist who decided to use her medical research skills to look into ingredients that benefit and harm the skin. when I tell you I personally believe my skin has gotten better because of the products I removed more than what I have added. Many of the products marketed contain many irritants such as essential oils and fragrances that are just UNNECESSARY and harmful. ( it’s great marketing, but I don’t want to be putting that on my face anymore) I started off with very dehydrated skin, large pores, small pimples widespread across my face, black heads and HEAVY and STUBBORN hyperpingmentation. (I have normal/dry skin) I definitely tested out a lot of products which I did post before and after pictures in terms of results ( which I shall be sharing ) stay tuned !! I was able to clear my skin, but I am slightly struggling with stubborn hyperpigmentation ( but we all know that takes time) and the key is to be consistent and patient. In addition, I can’t figure out how to get rid of my eye bags whatsoever.. I know sleep and hydration are big factors but I wish I could do more... I am not such a beleiver of eye cream but if anyone has a product that they can swear by in decreasing eye bags ! I’m all for it If you guys have any advice on how I can better my skin quality please share!! And if you have any questions, please feel free to ask. This is my skin care routine as of right now: Morning: - YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Superfood Antioxidant Cleanser PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA (Salicylic Acid) Liquid Exfoliator - only three times a week - The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% ( dark spot CORRECTOR - my biggest thanks goes out to this ) -DRUNK ELEPHANT - C-Firma Vitamin C Day Serum ( DONT know if I’m seeing a huge difference) I will share another post on my thoughts on vitamin C BIODERMA - Atoderm Lait - hydrating and light consistency (dries very smoothly/ not tacky) CeraVe - Mineral Sunscreen Lotion SPF 50 Face Lotion with Zinc Oxide Evening: YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Superfood Antioxidant Cleanser THE inkey LIST - Retinol Serum - I used the inkey list to start off my skin with retinol since it’s 0.5% retinol and 0.5% of another derivative of retinol( weaker) - now I use DRUNK ELEPHANT - A-Passioni Retinol Cream DRUNK ELEPHANT - Lala Retro Whipped Moisturizer with Ceramides Weekly mask ( once a week one at the beginning and the other at the end of the week) The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution ORIGINS - Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask to Clear Pores

Yep! Double masking is totally a thing! It’s kinda like using multiple leave on products to treat multiple concerns, but in the supercharged and extra pampering routine of masking. It can be super fun and helpful for your soon as long as it’s done to not harm the skin. A recent combination I have come up with is to do the The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution followed by the SKINCEUTICALS - PHYTO CORRECTIVE MASK Calming Face Mask For Blotchy Skin . This combo will resurface my skin and then calm and soothe the new skin that is revealed. By stripping away the dead stuff and then nourishing and hydrating the new stuff I am eliminating irritation and redness I usually get when I do the peel by itself. This combo also ensures that my skin will be revealed even healthier by immediately soothing it and hydrating it so that it can stay healthy and not potentially dry out and become dull. The peel is amazing as it truly tingles away all the built up texture and dead skin and diving into the pores to clear up blockages. The phyto mask is heavenly because it’s such a thick gel that soothes immediately. I could tell my skin was a little more sensitized this time I used the peel because the phyto mask stung a touch before feeling just cooling and calming. A match made in heaven if you ask me! So double masking can be great, but I would never suggest a combination such as a clay mask after the peel because you would be stripping the skin too much and opening up for potential strong irritation. I also have wouldn’t use a vitamin c mask with an exfoliation mask since that could lead to irritation as well. And further, a gel mask and then a sheet mask would just feel redundant! Double masking is lovely for a special event or a pamper evening like my once a week peel, but it’s not a necessity nor does it need to be often :) Happy masking!!

Toner, Peel, Serum, Mask? Four Ways to AHA
What is AHA? Alpha hydroxy acids gently removes dead skin cells, encouraging the regeneration of new skin. It is know for its ability to reduce hyperpigmentation, minimize pores and brighten skin. So how is that different from Glycolic Acid? Glycolic acid is actually a type of AHA! Known to be the “smallest”, most researched and gentlest AHA, glycolic acid does all of the aforementioned things and also acts as a humectant, leaving us with smoother, plumper skin. AHA vs BHA? So some of the products I’ll mention contain both AHA and BHA. BHA, particularly salicylic acid, is great for reducing acne but can be drying. BHA has better penetration into pores due it its affinity to oily sebum. That’s why they say BHAs are better for oily skin! How should I incorporate AHA/Glycolic Acid into my skincare routine? Whichever way you choose! Some prefer it in their daily routine whereas others prefer it 2-3x a week- the products mentioned below allow you different options. 1. AHA as a toner. The Ordinary - Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution When: Everyday if you want, AM or PM toning step. Price: $8.70 for 8oz Comments: I personally wouldn’t use this everyday especially if you have a broken skin barrier (it stings!) but it leaves me so hydrated and clean the next morning. Paired with a hydrating night serum, I’ve noticed a huge decrease in pore size and bumpy irregularities on my face. 2. AHA as a night cream/peel. VERSED - THE SHORTCUT Overnight Facial Peel When: 2-3 nights per week in my moisturizing step. Price: $9.99 for 0.5 oz Comments: If you have super sensitive skin, this one is for you. This acts as a lotion and has been the mildest form of glycolic acid I’ve seen. I don’t notice as drastic of a glow as TO’s toner or Good Molecules’s Overnight, but it works. Another con is the price...$10 for only 0.5oz allows for only 6-7 uses before repurchasing, whereas I’ve had that 8oz toner for almost a year with plenty left! 3. AHA as a night serum/sleeping mask. GOOD MOLECULES - Overnight Exfoliating Treatment When: 2-3 nights per week in my serum step. Price: $6 for 1 Oz Comments: this is my absolute favorite way of getting my AHA for only $6. I use only 4-5 drops as a “serum” in my regular night routine (see my old post). I would minimize using too many other acids with it! Creates a delicious glow in the AM, this mask also minimizes pores. It is not drying even though it contains BHAs! Would recommend for those who are dry, blackhead, and acne-prone. 4. AHA as a wash-off mask. The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution When: 1-2 nights a week for 10 min before rinsing off. Price: $7.20 for 1 Oz Comments: This product is hyped and I’m not too sure why. It works as a wash-off mask but it’s drying (bc of BHAs). I would only recommend if you want to add a mask without changing your existing routine.

NEW PRODUCTS = NEW ROUTINE
Hey Girl, Hey! 🧚🏼 So I said that I would updated you guys once all my products that I ordered from Ulta came in so here i am!! I started a new skin routine today and these are the products that I used in order! The Ordinary - Squalane Cleanser Starting with the squalane cleanser, I used this one because I knew that I was about to do the peeling solution and i did not want to over work my skin before i did that process for the first time! I love the consistency of the cleanser as I have used oil cleansers before. It left my skin feeling very clean and moisturized. It is supposed to work really well with getting make up off but I haven’t tried that just yet. *I’ll keep y’all posted* The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution For the Peeling Solution, because it was my first time I was very cautious about using it and did a lot of research about it. I previously posted about my thoughts on this product and first impressions so if you want more information on this specifically, check it out! I will be using this again CVS pharmacy - Clear Zinc Sun Lotion SPF 50 So I got this sunscreen because I realized I needed to add one into my routine and this seemed like the perfect one due to it being a clear zinc SPF 50. It doesn’t leave a white cast and is very thick but rubs in really good. I do like the way it makes my skin feel because it doesn’t cause any unnecessary oils and goes on evenly. The Ordinary - Vitamin C Suspension 23% + HA Spheres 2% This Vitamin C Solution wasn’t my favorite. It had a really gritty texture that eventually smoothed out once I applied other moisturizers but the texture of it was a little off putting for me. I’ll use it for like 2 weeks to see if I see any dramatic changes but as of now it’s just okay to me. I feel it may have been a little too hard for me to be using right after a peel so maybe I’ll just skip this step when I use the Peeling Solution. Neutrogena - Neutrogena Hydroboost Water Gel Moisturizer I AM LOVINNNNNGGGGGGG THISSSSSS!!!! OMG! ❤️❤️❤️ From the smell, to the Gel consistency and the smoothing of my skin after I use it. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT! It is perfect for dry skin while being light weight and not oily at all! I got mine from CVS and used a coupon to get it for $7 (Usually $23) You don’t need to use a lot so it will definitely last. I’ve been using it day and night for a few days and I will definitely be buying more. ✨‼️ The Ordinary - 100% Plant-Derived Squalane This i feel like added that extra moister i need after doing the peel. Didn’t see much of a difference but i will be using it in my routine because i liked the consistency. Lastly, I used my probiotic facial pray that I got from amazon! I swear by this spray. It gets rid of acne and definitely gives a refreshing feel. If you have any questions or suggestions hmu 😘💖‼️

Bye bye pigmentation & acne scarring
When I read a review that The Oridinary had an AFFORDABLE product that was just as good if not better than drunk elephants babyfacial I decided to give it a try and for under $10 what did I have to lose? The Ordinary AHA30% + BHA 2% aims to smooth and exfoliate skin texture and lighten any dark spots, hyper pimentation or acne scarring. Umm... all of the above please. So this is ideal for dry, oily and combination skin. I’m not super sensitive, but If your skin is, I would sample a small area first. This is loaded with Glycolic Acid, Lactic Acid and Salicylic Acid which all three aim exfoliate the outer layers of the skin, while the salicylic Acid aims to clean out inside the pores, removing any blockage. First off the color is bright red and almost looks like blood, it has a berry scent when you first apply it and offers a slight tingling sensation. When I first got it, I only kept it on for a few minutes because I was scared of burning my skin. Now I use it 1x per week for 10 minutes. There is some skin redness after use, but this typically diminishes within the hour. I love the way my skin looks and feels afterward and have noticed significant improvement in lightening scars I have along my jaw line. Ive also seen an improvement with the overall redness in my checks, over all my skin looks brighter and more uniform. I plan to repurchase this item when I run out, and have recommended nearly everyone I know to try it. It really is that good! More about the product: Free of sulfates SLS and SLES, parabens, formaldehydes, formaldehyde-releasing agents, phthalates, mineral oil, retinyl palmitate, oxybenzone, coal tar, hydroquinone, triclosan, and triclocarban, and contains less than one percent of synthetic fragrances. This product is also vegan, cruelty-free, and gluten-free.
