Reviewing My Followers Skincare Routines pt. 4
Hey ya’ll! In part 4 of Reviewing My Followers Skincare Routines we’re reviewing @Raks and @juliachristine’s skincare routines. Starting with @Rakswho reached out to me via Cherie message because she started skincare about a year ago because of her upcoming wedding. She starts by cleansing with theThursday Plantation - Tea Tree Face Wash Foam which costs $8.99 for 5.1 fl oz. This cleanser is very basic. It has tea tree oil, and eucalyptus oil. My issue is with the eucalyptus oil, which is a very irritating essential oil right up there with lemon oil and peppermint oil. If this doesn’t irritate your skin then it’s a great cleanser, but I can’t recommend it to those with sensitive skin. Then she goes in with 4 serums. First is thepura d'or - 20% Vitamin C Serum which costs $14.99 for 4 fl oz. This is a really good serum. It has aloe vera juice, glycerin, jojoba oil, and argan oil which are hydrating ingredients, and then it has hylaronic acid, retinol, and Vitamin C. I love it! Then she uses#The Ordinary - Nicinamide Serum[products]#[FiveStars] which costs $5.90 for 1 fl oz. We’ve talked a lot about this serum, it’s very good. Next is the#Tree Of Life - Hylaronic acid serum[products]#[TwoStars] which costs $10.95 for 1 fl oz. I don’t like this serum. It started off good with hylaronic acid, aloe vera juice, Vitamin E, and Vitamin C, but it contains way too many Essential oils and irritating extracts. And her final serum is theSkinMedica - LYTERA 2.0 Pigment Correcting Serum which costs $130.90 for 2 fl oz, which is very expensive. This is not worth the price. It has nicinamide and glycerin, and then some not very researched acids. I don’t recommend continuing use of this serum. Then to moisturize she goes in with theOLAY - Regenerist Regenerating Day Cream which costs $29.99 for 1.7 fl oz. I don’t like this moisturizer. Let’s start with some positives. It has nicinamide, glycerin, and Vitamin B3. Now it has a lot of bad ingredients also. It has Sodium Laureth Sulfate, which is a harsh cleansing agent, as well as fragrance being the 6th ingredient. The she uses a Neutrogena sunscreen, and occasionally usesThe Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution which costs $7.20 for 1 fl oz. This is a great exfoliant. I think @Raks is using too many serums. I would stick to only the Pura D’or and The Ordinary serum, and ditch the other two. Keep the cleanser, and maybe try a different moisturizer. You asked for mineral sunscreen reccomendations for dark skin tones that don’t have a white cast, so I got you girl! I have light skin, but I did some research and I’d recommend the#First Aid Beauty - Weightless Mineral SPF 30[products]#[FiveStars] which costs $34 for 1.5 fl oz, and the #Biossance - Squalane Zinc Sheer SPF 30[products]#[FiveStars] which costs $30 for 1.7 fl oz. Both of these have minimal white cast, and Skincare by Hyram recommends them. Next is @juliachristine’s night routine. She starts off by cleansing with the #Vanicream - Unscented Gentle Cleanser[products]#[ThreeStars] witch costs $8.99 for 8 fl oz. This a nice basic cleanser with glycerin. Next she uses the#OBAGI - Tretinoin 0.025% Cream[products]#[TwoStars] which costs $84 for .7 fl oz. This cream has tretinoin which is a Vitamin A derivative which can treat acne, as well as retinol which also Vitamin A. I don’t think it’s worth the price, but it’s okay. Next she uses the #The Ordinary - Azelaic Acid Suspension 10%[products]#[FourStars] which costs $7.99 for 1 fl oz. Along with azelaic acid, it has dimethicone which is a great moisturizer for dry skin. Next she uses theCeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin which costs $17.99 for 15 fl oz. Y’all know I love this product! Finally she finishes off with theVERSED - ZERO-G Smoothing Eye Cream witch costs $17.99 for .5 fl oz. Eye cream is definitely not necessary but this one is great! It has glycerin, algae extract, and olive oil which are hydrating, along with shea butter and a blend of peptides which can help firm the skin and increase collagen production which can help reduce fine lines around the eyes. Overall @juliachristine your routine looks great! That’s it for this post please cheer for this post if you liked it, comment your opinions on these products, and follow me for similar content. Upcoming posts include a 1 month Curology review and unnecessary skincare steps you don’t need. -Mae

EXFOLIATION AND HYDRATION
I’m sure you’ve heard of this exfoliating facial. The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution The mask is supposed to exfoliate the skin's topmost surface for a brighter and more even appearance simultaneously help clear pore congestion. I bought this a long time ago…probably my FIRST acid mask. Truly horrific but I had done research and made sure I wore sunscreen. Still, my skin was very sensitive in using this as I used it twice a week. After a while, I stopped using it and now I use it once every 2 weeks (I have an exfoliating toner and curology prescription that I typically use so my skin doesn’t always need this product). I would say this helps give my skin a glow and clears pore congestion alongside my hydrating and ceramide-boosting serums/moisturizers but alone…this mask irritates my skin due to its potency. Please make sure you pair this treatment with very hydrating ingredients (like the 100% Plant-Derived Squalane) and I recommend you only use this once a week! And SPF always! The Ordinary - 100% Plant-Derived Squalane This hydrator is non-comedogenic and is suitable for use on all skin types. It doesn’t clog my pores and leaves my skin hydrated and looking like a glazed donut! I put this (or my Flora & Bast CBD oil) after my moisturizer in the night if my skin is in need of extra hydration. Also, I love TO products and I’m currently testing out a few more products for later reviews! They are a great brand and I’ve recommended a few products to my friend who now loves the brand and her new glowing skin!

Skin Update! & Favorite Brands & Products💘
Hey everyone! Happy Sunday!!! ❤️ My main goals for my skin have always been, reduce redness, breakouts, & attain that lit-from-within-glow! I started my skincare quest around January 2020, so it’s finally been a whole year! Throughout that time there have been many ups, down, setbacks, & strides. Lately, I have found my simple routine that I love & am sticking with. The main companies I use products from are: • The Ordinary ✨ • First Aid Beauty ✨ • Youth To The People ✨ • The Inkey List ✨ • Glossier ✨ They’re all clean, simple, & for the most part affordable brands. (Except for Youth To The People, they’re on the pricier side) The staple products from these brands that I personally can’t believe I ever lived without are: • 🌿The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution Gets rid of texture, evens out my skin tone & completely brightens my face! I use it once a week. • 🌿FIRST AID BEAUTY - Facial Radiance Pads Although the idea of wiping a pad for exfoliation isn’t great, these pads do exactly what they say, which is make your face absolutely radiate. After just one use too! I use them daily, twice a day. Instead of wiping I lightly pat them on my face. • 🌿 YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Superberry Hydrate + Glow Dream Mask My all time favorite night time moisturizer. I put it on, go to sleep & wake up looking completely refreshed & glowing! I have also noticed my smile lines disappearing!! • 🌿 Glossier. - Bubblewrap Eye + Lip Plumping Cream I’ve used a lot of eye creams & this is my FAVORITE! It has completely gotten rid of the lines & darkness under my eyes. Period! • 🌿THE inkey LIST - Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Serum My favorite Hyaluronic Acid serum ever. It’s not sticky, it absorbs right into my skin & doesn’t leave any residue! Can’t live without this stuff! I put it in first, right after cleansing when my face is still damp. Those are the products I can’t live without these days! Have you tried any of these products? If so, what did you think?? 💖 @cherie@Cheriebeauty@CheriePick
The Ordinary-AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution
Started this routine faithfully for about two weeks all together using these all together at night. I’ve been using Arbonne cleanser and night cream for years but have added the other things in too. Arbonne Cleanser- I love this anti aging cleanser for its ingredients, texture and it gets all my makeup off too. So I use this first. DIFFERIN - Daily Deep Cleanser BPO 5% I use this cleanser after my makeup is off and scrub jt around with my face scrubber pictured. I also let it sit on my skin for a couple minutes so it can soak in and work then I wash it off. insta natural - Organic Rose Water I forgot to picture this but I use this as my toner. I never notice if one toner works over the other but I always make sure to use a toner after I wash my face. De La Cruz - Sulfur Ointment, Acne Medication, Maximum Strength I honestly use this more before I do my morning routine but sometimes I do it before my nighttime routine after I cleanse my face. I leave it on for awhile to dry up my zits. Sometimes at this point I use a serum, I alternate between insta natural - Dark Spot Corrector or insta natural - Age Defying & Skin Clearing Serum or insta natural - Skin Brightening Serum, Anti-Aging or ARBONNE Renewal serum or ARBONNE Spot correcting essence..... or I do The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution Then I use my ARBONNE NIGHT CREAM. I use my DIFFERIN - DIFFERIN Acne Treatment Gel on top of my night cream so I don’t overly dry out my skin. I don’t use this retinoid the same night I use The ordinary peeling solution though. I may have a couple times but it will definitely make your skin red and hot which I don’t want to overly irritate my skin either. The Ordinary - 100% Organic Cold Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil I use this with a drop of emu oil to help lock in moisture, help my acne scarring and help heal whatever acne I do have. I noticed a slight difference using the emu oil (definitely leaves your skin so soft in the morning) but the minute I started using insta natural - Age Defying & Skin Clearing Serum whether morning or night and DIFFERIN - Daily Deep Cleanser BPO 5% DIFFERIN - DIFFERIN Acne Treatment Gel I noticed a huge difference in my acne, inflammation and texture of my skin. I hope this can help someone else like this app has helped me! It’s so nice to finally see some improvement in your skin.

My Mental Wellness Improved Through My Self AcceptanceWhen I was around 13 or 14 years old, I remember routinely taking one of my older sister’s black eyeliner pencils before school every morning. I’d arrive early so that I could slip away to the girl’s bathroom to apply a single black line to my eyelids. My parents didn’t allow me to wear any makeup at the time. Although this smudgy line on my eyelids didn’t make me look all that much different, I never felt comfortable at school without it. My teenage mind convinced myself that I needed some sort of cosmetic symbol in order to appropriately express my femininity. Up until that point in my life, society had told girls that looked like me - tall, Black, and with kinky hair - that we somehow weren’t as beautiful as the other girls. For far too long, I believed it too.Feb. 17
