C-Firma Vitamin C Day Serum
Why It's SpecialI've been using this serum for a week now, and I can't believe the results. My face is literally glowing! My pores seem tighter, and my overall complexion looks almost perfect, which I've never experienced with any other product (and I have used a lot of pricey products).
What It DoesMeet the key to filter-free selfies. Packed with brightness-boosting vitamin C, ferulic acid, and powerful fruit enzymes, this serum leaves you with radiant, clear, "I woke up like this" skin.
What It IsA potent vitamin C day serum packed with antioxidants, nutrients, and fruit enzymes to firm and brighten skin’s appearance and improve the signs of photoaging.
Research ResultsIn an independent consumer testing panel of 104 women ages 25 to 55: - 90% found skin appeared smoother - 89% found skin appeared brighter and more radiant - 87% found skin appeared firmer
What Else You Need to KnowPacked with a powerful antioxidant complex of l-ascorbic and ferulic acids to reveal a more even-looking complexion, C-Firma™ helps enzymatically dissolve dead skin cells as it intensely hydrates. Photo damage and aging are visibly diminished, replaced by incredible radiance and luminosity. Forumlated at an ideal pH level of 3.3. C-Firma will likely change color over the course of its life on your shelf, but don’t be alarmed—anything from a pale yellow to an amber-orange is completely normal and not a sign the ascorbic acid is ineffective. We recommend using C-Firma within six months after opening, and if you’re using it as directed—one pump per day—one bottle will last about three to four months. Free of essential oils, silicones and, fragrance. Drunk Elephant is committed to using only ingredients that either directly benefit the health of the skin or support the integrity of their formulations. They never take into account whether something is synthetic or natural, instead choosing ingredients based on biocompatibility. That’s why they focus on healthy pH levels, formulations the skin recognizes, small molecular structure that’s easily absorbed, and effective active ingredients that also support and maintain the skin’s acid mantle. But what they leave out of their products is just as important as what they put into them, so you will never find what they call the Suspicious 6 (essential oils, drying alcohols, silicones, chemical sunscreens, fragrances/dyes, SLS) in their line. Drunk Elephant believes that these six ubiquitous ingredients are at the root of almost every skin issue, and when they’re removed entirely from your routine—that is, when you take a Drunk Break™—skin can reset and return to its healthiest, most balanced state. This ingredient-elimination diet benefits all skin types and inspired the #barewithus Instagram movement, a collection of bare-faced selfies that chronicles the Drunk Elephant journeys of people who have found not only healthier skin but more importantly, healthier self-confidence. Drunk Elephant is a supporter of IEF (International Elephant Foundation) and is cruelty-free.

My Top 3 Vitamin C Products
Vitamin c is a potent antioxidant, which helps to combat free radical damage to collagen, and it inhibits the production of tyrosinase, lessening melanin production to correct dark spots, uneven tone, and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. L-ascorbic acid specifically is a mild chemical exfoliant as well, garnering an extra boost to its tone-correcting and dark spot-lightening powers. Here are my favourite vitamin c products: • *GOOD MOLECULES - Vitamin C Booster Powder : The major appeals of powdered vitamin c are the longer lifespan of the product and the ability to control product concentration. Most vitamin c powders are made equally- I’ve heard good things about the Ordinary’s! I stopped using powder due to getting irritation anytime I accidentally used too much- I’m so sensitive to vitamin c that even a little extra makes my skin red. This would be best for those with oily skin (just add it to your moisturizer, avoiding an extra serum) or for those that want to be able to personally control concentration. • The Ordinary - Ascorbic Acid 8% + Alpha Arbutin 2% : My favourite brightening serum. Team up a gentle concentration of l-ascorbic acid with the super effective alpha arbutin and watch hyperpigmentation quickly fade over the weeks. It has a slick texture but soaks in quickly and the smoky scent has only recently become noticeable- I need a new bottle soon, it lasts so long! This would suit those who have sensitive skin, melasma, or PIH/hyperpigmentation issues. • DRUNK ELEPHANT - C-Firma Vitamin C Day Serum : One pump of C-Firma mixed into B-Hydra and Protini was my daytime routine for months and months. It’s so effective at correcting uneven tone! But C-Firma’s potent formula of 15% vitamin c, vitamin e, and ferulic acid is too much strong for my face- my cheeks get red and bumpy when I use it. But I’ve been adding a pump to my Sili body lotion to prevent any dark spots and fade scars, which has been surprisingly effective. I’d mainly recommend this for mature skin that’s already experiencing dark spots or those that have a high tolerance for vitamin c. * gifted

I have come so far!! One month of dedication
It’s insane how far a little education on specific ingredients that target your skin needs will get you!! I am pharmacist who decided to use her medical research skills to look into ingredients that benefit and harm the skin. when I tell you I personally believe my skin has gotten better because of the products I removed more than what I have added. Many of the products marketed contain many irritants such as essential oils and fragrances that are just UNNECESSARY and harmful. ( it’s great marketing, but I don’t want to be putting that on my face anymore) I started off with very dehydrated skin, large pores, small pimples widespread across my face, black heads and HEAVY and STUBBORN hyperpingmentation. (I have normal/dry skin) I definitely tested out a lot of products which I did post before and after pictures in terms of results ( which I shall be sharing ) stay tuned !! I was able to clear my skin, but I am slightly struggling with stubborn hyperpigmentation ( but we all know that takes time) and the key is to be consistent and patient. In addition, I can’t figure out how to get rid of my eye bags whatsoever.. I know sleep and hydration are big factors but I wish I could do more... I am not such a beleiver of eye cream but if anyone has a product that they can swear by in decreasing eye bags ! I’m all for it If you guys have any advice on how I can better my skin quality please share!! And if you have any questions, please feel free to ask. This is my skin care routine as of right now: Morning: - YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Superfood Cleanser PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA (Salicylic Acid) Liquid Exfoliator - only three times a week - The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% ( dark spot CORRECTOR - my biggest thanks goes out to this ) -DRUNK ELEPHANT - C-Firma Vitamin C Day Serum ( DONT know if I’m seeing a huge difference) I will share another post on my thoughts on vitamin C BIODERMA - Atoderm Lait - hydrating and light consistency (dries very smoothly/ not tacky) CeraVe - Mineral Sunscreen Lotion SPF 50 Face Lotion with Zinc Oxide Evening: YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Superfood Cleanser THE inkey LIST - Retinol Serum - I used the inkey list to start off my skin with retinol since it’s 0.5% retinol and 0.5% of another derivative of retinol( weaker) - now I use DRUNK ELEPHANT - A-Passioni Retinol Cream DRUNK ELEPHANT - Lala Retro Whipped Moisturizer with Ceramides Weekly mask ( once a week one at the beginning and the other at the end of the week) The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution ORIGINS - Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask to Clear Pores

Do’s & Don’t’s of A Sensitive Skin Routine
In my opinion, all skin is sensitive- but people with particularly reactive skin have to take extra caution, especially when you have a condition like eczema (hey fam!) and rosacea. Personally, I have combination sensitive skin and eczema, but nowadays my skin is pretty normal. Here’s some tips to follow when building your basic skincare routine... • Don’t: Jump into a ten-step routine. Overwhelming skin with so many products can easily aggravate sensitive skin, while also making it harder to figure out what one is irritating your skin. Take your time. • Do: Iron out the basics! Before introducing serums, make sure to find a cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen combination that gently nourishes skin. Avoid exfoliants in these so that they’re a safe fall-back if your skin starts flaring up. My favourite sensitive skin cleansers are HOLI FROG - Tashmoo Water Lily Nourishing Milky Wash and PAULA'S CHOICE - RESIST Perfectly Balanced Foaming Cleanser , as they cleanse without stripping skin of protective oils. My go-to sensitive skin (and all skin) sunscreens are PAULA'S CHOICE - Essential Glow Moisturizer SPF 30 (mineral) and PAULA'S CHOICE - YOUTH-EXTENDING DAILY HYDRATING FLUID SPF 50 (chemical). • Don’t: Use products with fragrance, alcohol, or essential oils. Alcohol is drying and can weaken the skin barrier, your skin’s defense against environmental damage. Fragrance and essential oils not only have a high chance of irritating skin, but also oxidize upon contact with the air, releasing free radicals that break down collagen. Avoid these. • Do: Incorporate antioxidants. Antioxidants battle environmental aggressors, neutralize free radicals, soothe skin, and calm redness. These and a good sunscreen are going to be your best combination for calm, youthful skin! I utilize a couple drops of The Ordinary - Resveratrol 3% + Ferulic Acid 3% on mornings I forgo vitamin c, but I also enjoy the silky texture of PAULA'S CHOICE - Retinol Super Antioxidant Serum for a gentle, moisturizing retinol that is also loaded with antioxidants. • Don’t: Try to smother skin into submission. Piling on layers of the heaviest cream may provide temporary relief, but it can lead to congestion and acne, which will only inflame skin more in the long-term. • Do: Combine fatty acids, ceramides, peptides, and/or hyaluronic acid treatments to repair the skin barrier, promoting moisture retainment in multiple levels. Layering different types of hydration/moisture from thinnest to thickest is better for your skin and will promote healing the root cause versus treating the symptoms. I love combining PAULA'S CHOICE - Resist Anti-Ageing Omega+ Complex Serum and NIOD - Multi-Molecular Hyaluronic Complex underneath my moisturizer to hydrate + nourish my skin and reduce frequency of my eczema flare-ups.

My Favourite Anti-Aging Products
“Anti-aging” is pretty much a marketing term. The only things that are going to have drastic results on deep wrinkles are office-only, like Botox and filler. But the best way to fight visible signs of aging is to prevent them and slow their arrival. • Sunscreen: There is legitimately not a single better way to protect your skin’s youth- and health! Sunscreen is so, so important, as windows do not block the aging UV rays and more studies show blue light from electronics also damages unprotected skin. UV rays not only cause/worsen wrinkles and fine lines, but also dark spots. DRUNK ELEPHANT - Umbra Sheer Physical Daily Defense Broad Spectrum Sunscreen SPF 30 is wonderful for dry skin (and/or winter use) and PAULA'S CHOICE - YOUTH-EXTENDING DAILY HYDRATING FLUID SPF 50 is amazing for all skin types and those who wear makeup. • Retinol: 0.1% Tretinoin is the strongest retinoid you’re going to find and likely the best for fighting signs of aging- but for prevention, everyone probably doesn’t need that kind of strength. If you want to avoid a prescription, look to retinols, available in up to 1.0% concentration. Retinol increases collagen + elastin production and stimulates skin renewal, via increasing cell turnover. This helps to fade dark spots, improve plumpness, and lessen fine lines- plus it’s known to be helpful for some acne cases. I have been enjoying the gentleness of PAULA'S CHOICE - 0.3% Retinol + 2% Bakuchiol Treatment combined with PAULA'S CHOICE - Retinol Super Antioxidant Serum (0.1% Retinol). I would recommend them for all skin types, though dry skin may appreciate The Ordinary - Retinol 1% in Squalane or another concentration. • Antioxidants: Antioxidants protect skin from environmental aggressors, like pollution and oxidative damage from free radicals. They soothe skin, help prevent fine lines, and can brighten skin, vitamin c being the most popular and well-known. DRUNK ELEPHANT - C-Firma Vitamin C Day Serum is a fantastic 15% l-ascorbic acid serum that lightens hyperpigmentation and dark spots significantly, but my sensitive skin prefers The Ordinary - Ascorbic Acid 8% + Alpha Arbutin 2%

Products for acne prone skin!
🌻My skin type/concerns- I have very dry skin in the winter and a normal skin type during the summer! Occasionally I will get bad acne throughout the year, I also have bad redness and hyperpigmentation, and pores! 🌻this review is for products I have tried to reduce my acne! ✅worked ❌didn’t work 🌻Product list: ✅Murad acne cleanser- I discovered this cleanser about 8 months ago and fell in love! I always use this first in my skin care routine! I have been using this for about 6 months! I also only use this at night and whenever I use it before bed I see the biggest difference in my acne when I wake up! I saw the pricy price tag but I still went for it! I used it for a couple months of the summer, and it was perfect for my summer skin type! This has not really helped my acne, it is a great product for my dry skin, but it did not help my acne! I saw no difference when I used this at night and when I would wake up nothing changed! I used this right before using toner!Murad - Clarifying Cleanser DRUNK ELEPHANT - C-Firma Vitamin C Day Serum Kate Somerville - ExfoliKate Intensive Exfoliating Treatment INDIE LEE - Purifying Face Wash

VITAMIN C PRODUCTS
🍊 Let’s talk about one of my favorite skincare ingredients: Vitamin C. Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that works to firm and brighten the skin while protecting against environmental stressors. Here are some of the Vitamin C products currently in my rotation and some pros and cons. (Left to right) 🍊 Farmacy Very Cherry Bright Serum is a blend of four Vitamin C derivatives and four types of hyaluronic acid. This is a great serum if you are sensitive to vitamin C and prefer a gentler derivative. I’m not sensitive to vitamin C but I find this to be just as effective as my abscorbic acid serums. I love the texture of this because it’s not thick or sticky at all like some vitamin c serums can be. This lightweight gel sinks in quickly and leaves my skin soft and plump thanks to all the hyaluronic acid. If you have dry, dehydrated, or sensitive skin you will love this vitamin C. 🍊 Sunday Riley C.E.O. Glow is a facial oil containing the Vitamin C derivative THD Abscorbate as well as other brightening ingredients such as turmeric, ginger root extract, and bisabolol in a blend of botanical oils. Another great option for those who may be sensitive to vitamin C because this product does use a derivative and is buffered by the oil base. I like this when I’m dry or traveling and find it gives me beautifully glowy and soft skin. However this is a little rich for me on a daily basis. If you are dry or live in a dry climate your skin will probably love this. Wouldn’t recommend for oily skin though. 🍊 Drunk Elephant C Firma Day Serum is a 15% Abscorbic Acid serum and is the most potent of the three this product also contains firming peptides and enzymatic exfoliators. This one helps so much with brightening my skin and lightening hyperpigmentation the texture is a little bit thick and sticky but sinks in relatively quickly. If you are sensitive to vitamin C this will probably not be the one for you but if not it’s amazing.
