Let's talk about antioxidants (AO for short), shall we? Sure, they're great for nutrition (which I desperately need after pastry school) but they're huge in skincare as well. We all know about the wonders of vitamin c (often L ascorbic acid) for dark spots, but its ability to defend against free radicals is what can really make a difference, especially if you live in a city. That's just one AO though, so I thought I'd go through more of them by rounding up a bunch of products with various AOs: ▪️ vit c isn't just in serums, like Drunk Elephant c-firma, but also in cleansers, creams and so on like the BeautyPie japanfusion transforming cleanser (which also has polyphenols, another AO) and Dr. Loretta intense brightening cream ▪️ kakadu plum is just one example of naturally occurring vit c, and it's in one of my favorites, Asarai response theory daily serum; another is rosehip oil in Goto-skincare face hero and Jurlique rose balancing serum ▪️ retinol is an AO too! I usually restrict it to nighttime, but gentle versions like those found in EVE LOM time retreat essence and JVSkincare daily serum can work during the day (with sunscreen of course) ▪️ speaking of SPF, COOLA sun silk drops have full spectrum protection AND an AO from mangosteen - AOs are anti-inflammatory, so it can help against sunburn too! Supergoop! superscreen similarly gets it from blue-green algae ▪️ take the same foods with AO properties and apply it to skincare, like the peach extract in SATURDAY Skincare freeze frame essence, carrot seed oil in Nuria Beauty defense serum, green tea in WOWYOU! super serum and VENN Skincare all-in-one concentrate, and kombucha in Fresh Beauty black tea kombucha essence

A Professional Yogi Says Now Is The Time To Start An At-Home PracticeIn light of the coronavirus pandemic, fitness looks and feels differently right now, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. As ironic as it sounds, staying indoors can actually open the door for you to try new programs and practices sans outside judgements or gym phobias you might be harboring. And because an international pandemic is bound to bring up feelings of stress and confusion, it’s important to choose exercises that not only benefit your physical health, but that also cater to your mental health as well, like yoga.9 HOURS AGO
6 Skincare Tips from a Celebrity EstheticianIt’s been eight weeks since COVID-19 has caused us to shelter in place with the goal of putting an end to the novel coronavirus. While social distancing is playing an essential role in our health, the same can’t be said for our beauty routines. For beauty buffs, the lockdown has meant an abrupt halt to our routine visits to our facialists, dermatologists, and everything in between. What’s more, staying indoors has limited our exposure to vitamin D (which our skin needs to thrive), heeded unhealthy eating habits (which can wrack havoc on our skin), and turned us all into our very own (albeit mildly inexperienced) esthetician. To ensure our skin and well-being is taken care of during such a confusing time, we tapped into celebrity esthetician Renée Rouleau. Below, she’s sharing six self-care tips to practice as you social distance.May 20
