Ingredient Spotlight: Cica/Centella Asiatica
Ingredient Spotlight: Cica/Centella Asiatica
Hi guys! Today I’m gonna be Spotlighting the ingredient cica or centella asiatica. The products I’ve chosen to review for you with cica are LANEIGE - Cica Sleeping Mask , Benton - Goodbye Redness Centella Mask Pack, 10 Masks, 0.81 oz (23 g) Each , and the Dr. Jart+ - Cicapair Tiger Grass Calming Mist ! What is Centella Asiatica? It’s an herb that is grown primarily in Asia, with multiple uses, including medicine and cooking. However, it’s commonly used in skincare for its healing and soothing benefits. It contains active compounds that show antioxidant benefits and soothes upset skin. Some people liken it to green tea! — Laneige Cica Sleeping Mask: this has been legit the perfect addition to my night routine. You’re apparently supposed to use it 1-2 times a week but I can’t stop myself from using it at least four times a week. It’s soft and creamy, and just a tad thicker than their water sleeping masks. It’s hydrating and neutralizes my redness like NO BIZ. I struggle with rosacea hardcore and this calms my skin down from any kind of irritation or reaction. The cica in it is clearly the powerhouse, and the cream is rich but never streaky. I wake up with refreshed and calmed skin, and no residue. It’s $34, but it has lasted me a while and I already have a backup. — Benton Centella Mask: not my favorite cica product, but it’s not bad at all! It’s $2.80/mask, which is a great price to me. This surprisingly soothes my breakouts and acne the most, and doesn’t irritate any skin. However, I think they make a serum that is this mask in serum form, and I would much rather have that! Sheet masks seem kind of wasteful and useless to me, since I could get the same benefits from a serum. This mask is good, though, and if you struggle with irritated red breakouts, this would probably help you! — Dr. Jart Cicapair Mist: I guess this is my favorite of the three! I use this at all times of the day, morning to night, after makeup, before makeup, to refresh my skin midday, you name it! It’s truly a do it all mist. This soothes and calms my skin instantly and I can see the redness fade away as it hydrates and helps my skin. It’s great to use when I have a reaction to a product, or my face is red from anxiety or rosacea! I would totally repurchase this, as it only costs $23.

Laneige Mask

🌿Even if the Ci
Laneige Mask 🌿Even if the Cica name suggests that this mask is about Centella, this mask is based on Forest Yeast. According to Laneige & Amore Pacific (Laneige's mother company), Forest Yeast is better than Madecassoside. 🌿The main task of this mask is to make your skin barrier stronger. The formula is rich, quite heavy and you can use up to 3 layers of the mask depends on your skin condition. I used a single layer and the results are really good. I feel like this mask will be ideal for winter, usually winter = dehydration for my skin (even if lately my skin gets dehydrated quite easily). 🌿The formula is completely different from cult Laneige Water Sleeping Mask and even if I like both, I go for Cica because it contains Madecassoside, Glycerin, Squalane, Shea Butter and Tea Tree Oil. It works well with acne-prone skin and the scent reminds me of green tea a bit. Not to mention this lovely packaging! 🌿The mask is available on Jolse for $23.94/60ml

My full current routine
My full current routine
My skin is very acne prone skin and has been as long as I can remember, yet I’ve never been able to find anything that really works, you know? Thus, I’ve decided to put my current routine out there in the hopes that someone, anyone might be able to offer some advice or tips to help. Morning: wash with the 3.5%Neutrogena - Rapid Clear Stubborn Acne Cream Cleanser(I’ve searched for a 10% formula but I guess it’s not carried in Canada) tone withpixi - Glow Tonicwith 5% glycolic. Sometimes I also use THAYERS - Lavender Facial Tonerbut not as often anymore mix 3 drops of lavido - Invigorating Facial Serumwith 3 drops of íUNIK - Tea Tree Relief Serumand a pump of vitamin C serum from a local brand called Truly Lifestyle Brand. I’m not sure it’s the best to mix my serums like that but hey. Also the vitamin C serum is a 17% concentration. moisturize with Cetaphil - DermaControl Oil Control Moisturizer SPF 30. I actually do feel as if this has helped my acne but I could just be imagining it; I used to believe that my old moisturizer broke me out before I switched to this one. Sometimes I feel dry since it’s oil absorbing I guess but it’s not frequent. lastly isOLE HENRIKSEN - Banana Bright Eye Crème; I don’t suffer from dark under eyes but I still like this one. Evening: wash with same neutrogena face wash tone with pixi toner I used to use the proactiv md 3 step routine and although I don’t use the cleanser and rarely use the sunscreen-moisturizer, I recently started using the proactiv - Adapalene Gel 0.1% Acne Treatmentagain use the same serums minus the vit c serum moisturize with the CAUDALIE - Vineactiv 3 in 1 Vitamin C Anti-Wrinkle Moisturizer. I’m not concerned about anti-aging, I was recommended this for helping with the skin barrier. Sometimes for nighttime I also mix this moisturizer with the LANEIGE - Cica Sleeping Maskor SUMMER FRIDAYS - Jet Lag Mask spot treat overnight with CLINIQUE - Acne Solutions Clinical Clearing Gel Weekly: one or twice a week, surprise surprise, I use The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution for my pores and to fade my dark spots. usually once a week, sometimes twice I use the AZTEC SECRET - Indian Healing Claywith acv a bit less frequently I use the alya skin. - Skin Pink Clay Mask, this one I feel is less effective than the Aztec clay mask but I still like it It might also be worth mentioning that I also have been taking 30mg of zinc which I heard helps with acne, and in the mornings I drink a mixture of acv, lemon juice, turmeric, and cayenne in hot water. I also used to juice celery but I don’t have a juicer right now so haven’t been doing that recently. I feel like that’s enough information but I love getting advice about skincare and talking about it so I’d be happy to give more info if anyone would like it😊😊

Laneige Cica and Water Sleeing Masks
Laneige Cica and Water Sleeing Masks
There’s a good reason why @laneige_us ’s sleeping masks are so popular. They deliver results (hydrated, nourished, refreshed skin) in the shortest amount of time (overnight). So far I’ve tried two flavors, the cica and the OG water one, and here’s what I think of them. . Cica Sleeping Mask. Lately, I’ve been using this one as a night cream rather than a sleeping mask. It’s rich, thick and nourishing enough on its own, without having to put a cream beforehand. I love this product with all my heart. It’s healing and calming. Whenever my skin feels irritated, I use this and the next morning my skin is back to normal. This helps a ton with redness, irritation, and breakouts. Even if you don’t experience any of those things, I still think this is a great product to try. Cica is a great calming ingredient that I think a lot of people can benefit from! . Water Sleeping Mask. I love to use this on the days where my skin feels a bit dry and/or lifeless. I use a light cream beforehand, and apply this on top (like a proper sleeping mask). The mask has a gel texture, and feels weightless on the skin. After some time, it completely sinks in and leaves the skin looking dewy and glowy. I love how well it hydrates my skin. When I wake up the next day, my skin always looks and feels refreshed. . I think both of them are a great addition to any routine. Both deliver a boost of hydration and nourishment to the skin. If you have problems with your skin being irritated, then I suggest you go with the cica mask. Otherwise, if you have no problems and just look for extra hydration, the water one will be great for you! . Gifted #cheriecreator

sharing my fav #sleeping mask
sharing my fav #sleeping mask literally healed my skin . Also i am already huge huge fan of their lip products.(just saying) . . ✨Those who don’t know CICA is medicinal herb used a lot in Asia, and Centella Asiatica also called tiger grass where tiger rolls around this grass to heal their wound. . . ✨@laneige_us Cica sleeping mask has Fermented Forest Yeast Extract, to help strengthen skin barrier & provides intense nourishment overnight. ✨My skin has been stressed and freaky past couple of days and I think this cream really helped me after 2 uses. My skin redness is so much better, it looks super moisturized and also less irritated . . . ✨This product is free of parabens, phthalates, mineral oil, vegan . . I would highly highly recommend this product 🤎absolutely love🤎

LANEIGE-Cica Sleeping Mask
Overnight soothing mask!
Overnight soothing mask!
Have you ever fallen in love with a product at first use? For me, it was the LANEIGE - Cica Sleeping Mask This is an overnight replenishing mask that delivers intense moisture to help soothe redness and strengthen the skin barrier for healthier, less irritated skin. This contains Laneige’s own forest yeast that’s basically fermented and refined black yeast that was separated from green penny fern found growing in Jeju. This is supposed to provide an even stronger soothing and strengthening effect on the skin than traditional cica products that just contains only madecassocide. Other notable ingredients include squalane, glycerin, panthenol, shea butter, asiaticoside, madecassic acid, asiatic acid, tea tree leaf oil, and vitamin e. This has a luxuriously thick and rich emollient creamy texture that just envelopes the skin like a warm embrace. I find that this doesn’t absorb fully so it creates a lovely moisturizing barrier that’s not greasy to help prevent water loss during the night. I love using this when my skin freaks out from over exfoliation or when it’s just irritated and red. My skin always looks calmer, less red, and feels moisturized the following morning. It’s like my little magical quick fix overnight mask. Something worth mentioning is that this does contain cymbopogon martini oil which is an aromatic oil that gives this product a very faint herbal scent. It hasn’t irritated my skin or cause me to breakout but it’s worth mentioning if you’re very sensitive to aromatics. Overall, this is a fantastic overnight sleeping mask for those with dry and sensitive skin. You’ll love the results it provides to your skin the following morning. I much prefer this one over their water sleeping mask so I definitely plan on repurchasing this again in the future. Have you guys tried this yet? If so, any thoughts on it? Rating: 5/5🌟 #CherieCreator #Laneige
