Learning to be patient!!
On November 1st I started my tretinoin journey and it has been one heck of a journey!! After finally getting through the worst of the purge pictured here, I can finally say I have no active acne! And I think the largest player here is actually SPIRONOLACTONE. My acne didn’t start until I had my Mirena IUD placed, so it makes sense that I needed to fix the hormones. Now to handle the scarring (patiently)... First day of school!! My last semester 🎉🎉
I never thought I would be comfortable going to class without makeup, but I’m so glad I don’t feel the need to wake up early and put it on anymore. Don’t get me wrong, I still very much love makeup but it’s a chore getting it off properly! I felt the need to share that it is officially my first day of class in my very last semester of college!! 🎉🎉 (I say like I’m not planning on going back because I hate my degree) We’re gonna be rolling into Marketing Strategy with second day hair, brow gel, and some mascara and that’s it! Sadly, I actually have to attend an in-person lecture, but it’s the only one. I also thought that I might as well share the new routine AM: LA ROCHE-POSAY - Lipikar Wash Ap+ Gentle Foaming Moisturizing Wash I gave this 4 stars because while it says fragrance free it has a strong citrus scent and burns the eyes, but it is definitely moisturizing and doesn’t strip the skin peach slices - Snail Rescue Blemish Busting Toner I accidentally got this too close to my under eye and it dried it out GOOD MOLECULES - Hyaluronic Acid Serum pretty nice, pretty standard VANICREAM - Lite Lotion DERMA•E - Scar Cream Sun Protectant SPF 35 PM: LA ROCHE-POSAY - Lipikar Wash Ap+ Gentle Foaming Moisturizing Wash *a little pea size amount of tretinoin* GOOD MOLECULES - Hyaluronic Acid Serum VANICREAM - Lite Lotion CeraVe - CeraVe Moisturising Cream I apply both moisturizers at night because my skin tends to dry out over night due to me keeping a fan going at all times My skin is a getter drier as the days go by, as expected, because my Accutane dosage has been bumped up and just due to the colder temperatures

To inspire , educate & bring hope
My name is Ainsley. I had cystic acne and severe acne all over my face for over a year. I wanna say people brought me down because of it. Acne can be caused by a lot of components , the worst part is people treat it like a monster when it’s normal & human. I can say to any acne sufferer that you are strong and you are more than your skin and It will teach you a lot about people & yourself. You’re not alone & im sorry people are uneducated & cruel but it’s not you. Don’t cover it up with makeup in the long run it’ll make it worse , embrace it and you can get through anything you are strong powerful & unique, if only they understood they wouldn’t even say the things they do. As long as you know that’s all that matters. Anyone can talk to me if they need to or want to know more about my experience , routine I will post more about it :) I just wanted to put this out there first.

CeraVe Healing Ointment
This is PERFECT for my skin and believe me... I have pretty bad skin! It’s not acne that’s bad, I have none, it’s eczema and dry skin. I usually used Vaseline - 100% Pure Petroleum Jelly, Original before. I would rate this 5 stars, except you can’t use in in the day because it makes your face OVERLY shiny and highlights your red spots. Also, it takes FOREVER to sink into your skin, so I just used it before bed, and that was perfectly fine. That’s why I use CeraVe Healing Ointment. It’s basically the same consistency as Vaseline except a little less greasy and smooth. I would not recommend wearing this in the day as well, but use it at night after you shower and it’s a LIFE SAVER. After I shower I put VANICREAM - Lite Lotion which I 100% recommend on my cheeks and forehead, and the CeraVe - Healing Ointment (4 1/2 stars) around my eyes and all over my mouth. I also use it on the cracks of my arms and legs and neck. I definitely recommend this If you have eczema or dry skin. Also it doesn’t have any added scents that make you itchy. Hope you try it out! Tell me in the comments if you’ve used this before!

I had a few acne bumps, the prescribed clindamycin but it ate my skin off. They then prescribed tretinion. Nightmare. I know it gets worse before better, but I quickly realized it wasn’t worth the burn and discomfort for a few acne spots I can cover. I stopped after three days. (This was 3 weeks ago) My chin has progressed to this. I have contact dermatitis on my hands, so I went through patch testing and am excluding items. I now use CeraVe - Hydrating Facial Cleanser and VANICREAM - Lite Lotion (I’ve been using these for a few days, this acne has been progressing for a couple weeks) It’s super hard to find anything that doesn’t hurt or eat away at my skin, is low on chemicals and safe to use, and works. I called my dermatologist today. Anyone have any advice? janssen - Retino-A 0.05% Tretinoin Cream Picture 1- November (day 2 of tretinoin?) Picture 2- now

1 month on Accutane/isotretinoin
My first month is done!! I have noticed a major difference in my skin even on the 10mg dosage. I’m not breaking out near as often, and when they do pop up they’re much smaller. My face is nowhere near as red, but I am noticing that I’m getting blackheads on my nose and chin. I’ve never had a blackhead problem before now. Overall, I’m super happy with the way things are going. I have noticed my skin and lips drying out, muscle pain and mood flares. I know a major side-effect is depression, but I’ve noticed that it mainly just bringing my anger issues forwards. I had had my anger problems under wrap for a long time until I started this medication. Just some things to keep in my mind if you are thinking about Accutane! —Face Products— VANICREAM - Gentle Facial Cleanser *clindamycin* VANICREAM - Lite Lotion Supergoop! - Zincscreen 100% Mineral Lotion SPF 40 PA+++ *tretinoin* Krave - Great Barrier Relief CeraVe - Skin Renewing Night Cream —Lip Care— CARMEX - Classic Lip Balm, Medicated Vaseline - Lip Therapy, Advanced Healing Skin Protectant

My Mental Wellness Improved Through My Self AcceptanceWhen I was around 13 or 14 years old, I remember routinely taking one of my older sister’s black eyeliner pencils before school every morning. I’d arrive early so that I could slip away to the girl’s bathroom to apply a single black line to my eyelids. My parents didn’t allow me to wear any makeup at the time. Although this smudgy line on my eyelids didn’t make me look all that much different, I never felt comfortable at school without it. My teenage mind convinced myself that I needed some sort of cosmetic symbol in order to appropriately express my femininity. Up until that point in my life, society had told girls that looked like me - tall, Black, and with kinky hair - that we somehow weren’t as beautiful as the other girls. For far too long, I believed it too.Feb. 17
