A Zoom Patient Encounter ft Glossier’s Niteshine
HONEST FEMME FINDS: It’s the end of the academic year which means our final series of mock-patient encounters. Only one more year until we start rotating through the hospitals (kind of glad I slipped through the COVID-19 mess)! During these patient encounters, patient actors interact with students through Zoom, and we do get graded on a scale of 1-5 how professional and clean we look! After a month of barely leaving the house and putting on makeup, I figured today was my perfect chance to try out my bulk order from Glossier. The play highlighter in Niteshine has been one of the few new products that’s stood out to me. Here are some of my thoughts. Glossier. - Niteshine Highlighter Concentrate COLOR: ultra pigmented highlighter with heavy pink/rose undertones. A little pigmented for an everyday office look but adds a perfect amount of depth over a blurred MacBook webcam during a zoom call. Can easily make it an everyday highlighter if used lightly. APPLICATION: applicator looks like a lipgloss wand. I normally just use my finger, dab the tip and apply with my hands. The wand does come in handy if I want to line my nose or lower waterline. PRICE: I bought this in a set and on sale but it normally retails for $20 a piece, again like many glossier products, a bit pricey for the amount they give you (0.34 fl Oz). I’d say still worth it for how quickly it’s made it’s way into my light makeup routine! Before this, I solely used the NYX liquid illuminate for years and years.
glossierplay Starting with my favorite of the bunch, Niteshine. I ordered the highlight concentrate in the shade “pale pearl”, which is a pale champagne and the lightest of the four. I adore the doe-foot applicator for precise application - it’s the perfect delivery system. The formula itself is stunning! It adds a gorgeous glow to the skin with a bit of microfine shimmer. Glossier Play’s Vinylic Lip is another standout product for me. I picked the shade “disco”, a rosy terracotta. It goes on smoothly with a click pen applicator. The color can be built up from a subtle hint of pigment to a more opaque lip. The finish isn’t as high shine as I expected, which is part of the reason I love it. It delivers a beautiful wash of color with just enough shine, but doesn’t leave the sticky finish that causes your hair to get stuck to your lips. I have mixed feelings about the Colorslide eye pencil. First, I love the color selection. I ordered the warm bronze shade, “pretty penny”. While I did find that it glides on smoothly, it’s not quite as effortless an application as other gel pencils I own. After a few hours, the color wasn’t as vibrant as it was on application. Lastly, the Glitter Gelèe. I’ve heard that each of the shades have different amounts of glitter & pigment, so I can only speak for Bijoux Bijoux. I was the least excited about this one, as I don’t often wear glitter in my looks. It is, however, super long wearing and didn’t experience any fallout. I did find application tricky in terms of getting the larger particles where I wanted them, as this dries fast.

3-step *additional* glow ✨
Let’s be real, we already beautiful, but we’re clearly here because we like to enhance our beauty 😉 I’ve been on the search for a highlighter that blends into my skin quite well and gives me one of those reflective glows when hit by the light and looks like I finally found em! Here are the steps: 1. Glossier. - Haloscope Dew Effect Highlighter in Topaz swiped on the cheekbone twice and then patted in with my fingertips. 2. Glossier. - Niteshine Highlighter Concentrate in Deep Copper applied on top of the Haloscope and blended in. 3. ILIA - Color Haze Multi-Use Pigment in Before Today to add some blush. I rated all of these products a 4⭐️ because I feel like they are not super strong pigments and not even too buildable either. Otherwise, I like their scents and the way they add a little something 👌🏽

My go-to no-makeup makeup #CheriePartner
Naturally, I never felt much of a need to wear a lot of makeup for different reasons, like sensitivities and time. So this is my favourite way of touching up my face and enhance my features 🌸 I start of with my cheeks (in case don’t have time to do a whole lot on a busy day) with using a highlighter, in this case the Glossier. - Haloscope Dew Effect Highlighter in Topaz x Glossier. - Niteshine Highlighter Concentrate in Deep Copper - I just got this pairing recently because I wanted to see the magic behind creamy/liquid highlighters, as I heard they blend into the skin better than powder. I find that since they blend so well into my skintone, I have to layer them so the shine is more noticeable (hence the 4 ⭐️). I commend how natural the glow looks with these two tho. Then I add a blush from my new favourite brand ĀETHER BEAUTY - Crystal Charged Cheek Palette from which I used the Divinity (darker red shade) Next I even put my brows with the elate - Brow Balm in Raven which is quite buildable, so if I apply it with light enough pressure, it looks pretty natural. Then to add a little sheen to my eyes I once again used the ĀETHER BEAUTY - Crystal Charged Cheek Palette this time in Pure Love (lighter brown highlight shade) & then to elongate my eyelashes used the Milk MAKEUP - KUSH High Volume Mascara it’s my fave go-to recently, as there’s minimal clumping and it’s buildable. If I have the time, like I did today, I add some concealer under my eyes to “brighten the tiredness away” SAPPHO - New Paradigm Concealer in Caramel To finalise the look, I use a tinted lip balm Kosas - Kosasport Lipfuel in Pulse which I’ve raves about before! And voila! ✨
Which Glossier Highlighter Should You Use?
Glossier is renowned for its model’s Insta-famous dewy, glowing look. But when it comes to real life, it’s easy for an attempt at glow/dew to slide into an oily mess, a glitter fiasco, or just fall flat overall. So which Glossier product is best for you? Glossier. - Haloscope Dew Effect Highlighter - Minimalists will love this highlighter! It offers a smooth shine, layering beautifully and without glitter flakes or product caking. I personally enjoy swiping lightly over my cheekbones and the bridge of my nose with Quartz for a natural look. Glossier. - Futuredew Oil Serum Hybrid - If you prefer a glossy look, this high-moisture serum is a sticky but effective way to make you look like you do a Korean 7-Skin routine morning and night. Layer it all over, focusing extra on cheekbones and the nose for a glazed doughnut look, or apply only to high points for a natural dew. Oily skin apply sparingly! Glossier. - Niteshine Highlighter Concentrate - Glamour in a bottle. This highlighter is intensely pigmented and, boy oh boy, there is some serious shine! This is a blinding highlighter, best applied sparingly and built up to your preferred level of disco ball- though be sure not to let it dry between layers or it can flake. I’ve yet to find a way to make this a natural-looking highlight, so I definitely recommend this primarily for those that like high-glam looks!

What I learned, scavenged, and loved this month! 🔎 In the Literature: 1. Ferulic acid doubles the sun-protective effects that Vit C + E have versus Vit C (ascorbic acid)+ E alone. 2. Bakuchiol, a plant extract used in Indian and Chinese medicine, has a mechanism of action similar to retinol- both upregulate collagen production. Formulations with bakuchiol + retinol have shown more effective in anti-aging than retinol alone. 3. Jojoba oil is actually a wax ester, a fatty molecule that structurally looks super similar to the fatty molecules of our sebum, hence why it meshes so well with our skin! 🔎 In Skincare: 1. GOOD MOLECULES - Niacinamide Brightening Toner 2. GOOD MOLECULES - Overnight Exfoliating Treatment 3. I'm from - Honey Mask 🔎 In Makeup etc: 1. PHYSICIANS FORMULA - Murumuru Butter Bronzer in Light 2. Glossier. - Niteshine Highlighter Concentrate 3. NYX - Lip Lingerie Push-Up Long-Lasting Lipstick in Bedtime Flirt Cheers🥂
