😒 PMSing 😡🥵🤯😍🥰
Whenever my skin acts up and I become an irrational witch with a capital B, I check the #GlowPeriodTracker and my @cherie Skin Journey. They have yet to fail me when it comes to knowing when my period 🩸 is on its way and answer the age old question - Why am I breaking out like this when I have been doing everything right?! And why do I want to consume my weight in chocolate while watching Beaches and Moonstruck on my flat screen!?😂😂😂 There are skin changes that happens right before Aunt Flo comes to town. Less estrogen and progesterone are being produced and this increases the production of sebum/oil from the sebaceous glands in the body. Your skin is even more sensitive during this time as well and dehydrates very quickly. It can be a nightmare with this confusion situation going on on your face but here are some easy tips to combat this time before your time of the month: 🌹Use products with Salicylic Acid or Glycolic Acid to combat that increase in oil on your face. I recommend finding a good cleanser with SA and/or a good toner with GA. Recommended Products: THE inkey LIST - Salicylic Acid Acne + Pore Cleanser THE inkey LIST - Glycolic Acid Exfoliating Toner 🥀 Exercise daily! I cannot say this enough. It regulates your hormones and by keeping them leveled, you can actually help turn the tides when it comes to your mood, your health and your skin during this time. Plus, exercising increases circulation which brings more blood to the skin and helps it look more radiant and less dull. 🌹 Increase your water intake. This time of the month can be very dehydrating to the body as well as the skin on your face. Please drink more water, add hyaluronic acid to your skincare routine and avoid sodas/sugary drinks to keep your tired, PMS skin looking refreshed. Also, add serums, hydrating mask and an oil free moisturizer to your routine as well to help ease the transition into your menstruation cycle. Remember to listen to your skin. It will tell you what it needs. Recommended Products: The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 CLEAN SKIN CLUB - Water Bottle 3 Pack 🥀 Get some sleep! Enough sleep can help your body replenish itself and it helps to manage stress levels during this already hectic time. You don’t want to add stress wrinkles on top of PMS do you? Didn’t think so! Recommended Products: OLLY - Sleep OLLY - Bedtime Beauty Gummy Supplement 🌹Eat more fruits and veggies, take your multivitamins and add antioxidants to your diet. Also, can’t avoid that craving to eat your weight in chocolate like me 😂? Don’t worry! Dark Chocolate is actually really good for your skin so have at it! You’ve earned it 🙂 Recommended Products: OLLY - The Perfect Women’s Multi Sugarbearhair - SugarBearHair Women's Multi Vegan MultiVitamin 1 Month Centrum - Multi+ Beauty Gummies Natural Cherry, Berry & Orange #onemoreday #period #pmsproblems #hormones #hormonalacne #inhiding #skincare #skincarejourney #skincareroutine

simplicity is key?
life can very easily get in the way sometimes. this can be so severe that, at least in my case, i end up sacrificing things like my skincare routine or other self care, thus making my skin worse and giving me ANOTHER reason to be stressed out. this being said, i’ve abandoned a lot of steps of my routines (which were sometimes 6 steps long!!) to help make my routine quicker and more manageable. am + pm i use these products in this order: cleanse: Milk MAKEUP - Vegan Milk Cleanser or THE inkey LIST - Salicylic Acid Acne + Pore Cleanser tone: THE inkey LIST - Glycolic Acid Exfoliating Toner (i use this every other night) serum/oil: e.l.f. - All the Feels Facial Oil eye cream: zero by skin academy (tried adding this as a new item multiple times but i give up typing it all in every time) moisturizer: e.l.f. - Happy Hydration Cream or Milk MAKEUP - Vegan Milk Moisturizer (i usually opt for the milk one at night as it is thicker and heavier) spot treatment: THE inkey LIST - Succinic Acid Acne Treatment (not pictured) sunscreen: live clean mineral face sunscreen SPF 45 #cheriecreator

Dermatologist tips on pores!
FACTS ABOUT PORES: Pore size is affected by: ✔️ Age ✔️ Sun exposure overtime ✔️ Genetics ✔️ Skin type For these reasons, it is not possible to shrink pores, but these products can help minimize the appearance of pores (I listed different options to choose from in each category. One from each category is all that would be needed): 1. Sunscreen ✔️ SPF 30 or higher in the morning, reapply every 2 hours (can use setting powder to reapply!) CeraVe - Face Sheer Tint Hydrating Sunscreen SPF 30 LA ROCHE-POSAY - Anthelios Ultra Fluid Face Lotion SPF 50+ Supergoop! - 100% Mineral Invincible Setting Powder SPF 45 2. Salicylic acid cleanser ✔️ Once a day ✔️ Treatment for acne CeraVe - Salicylic Acid Facial Cleanser THE inkey LIST - Salicylic Acid Acne + Pore Cleanser 3. Retinoids/retinol ✔️ Takes ~12 weeks to see an effect ✔️ Treatment for acne ❗️Acne may get worse before it gets better ❗️Only at night, must wear sunscreen during the day ❌ Avoid in pregnancy and breastfeeding DIFFERIN - 0.1% Adapalene Acne Treatment Gel Pump LA ROCHE-POSAY - Effaclar Adapalene Gel .01% Topical Retinoid Acne Treatment ❗️Sensitive skin may not be able to use salicylic acid cleanser and retinol/retinoid together at night (may be too irritating) ✔️ For sensitive skin: can consider salicylic acid cleanser in the morning & retinol/retinoid at night It can take weeks to months to start noticing a difference, patience is 🔑 What works to help decrease the appearance of your pores? Affordable and Effective Skincare Anyone?
Let’s talk The Inkey List. I’ve been hearing about this brand for MONTHS and never really paid much attention, until recently. I started seeing people I really trust enjoying a lot of their products and thought, hm, maybe there is something to this. So, I asked the company for a skincare routine for me based on my type of skin and concerns. So far, these are the products I’ve tried from the routine and my thoughts. I’ve been incorporating 1 new product per week but I started with the basics all together, so the Bakuchiol, Brighten-i Eye Cream, Salicylic Acid Cleanser, and Hyaluronic Acid serum have been in rotation for about a month at this point and were the first 4 products I used together. Next I incorporated the PHA Toner, and lastly was the Vitamin C serum. •Bakuchiol - I like this a lot. It sinks right in and doesn’t leave a residue, but it isn’t quite hydrating enough for me. I do think I’ll need to incorporate an oil on top, but I don’t mind. The only negative I have with this so far is the packaging. I hate this packaging. The product is too thin for this kind of tube. •Brighten-i Eye Cream - I’ve seen nothing crazy with this, but I don’t see anything crazy with any eye cream. I do like this a lot though and I like the applicator. •Hyaluronic Acid - this feels very nice on the skin. It feels velvety on the skin and soaks right in for me. It leaves no residue and I’ve been enjoying it. I don’t know that it’s helping much with keeping my skin hydrated though. •PHA Toner - I think I’m liking this a lot. I feel like it’s helped my texture and made my face feel softer. It doesn’t seem to be causing any issues, but I think it is a little drying for me. A heavier moisturizer would solve this problem, I think. •Vitamin C Serum - I’ve only been using this for a little over a week and I’m uncertain about it. I do not like the smell and and it leaves my skin EXTREMELY sticky initially. Like, I could stick a spoon to my face and it would probably stay, sticky. Thankfully, it doesn’t seem to linger and sinks in after a few minutes. Even if there is a teensy bit of tackiness if I get impatient, after putting on a moisturizer it’s gone. •Salicylic Acid Cleanser - I feel like this does work well and is very gentle. It doesn’t irritate my skin or feel drying, so I really like it. It seems to help with blackheads a lot and with any active breakouts I have, so I’ve definitely been enjoying it. THE inkey LIST - Brighten-i Eye Cream THE inkey LIST - Bakuchiol Retinol Alternative Moisturizer THE inkey LIST - Hyaluronic Acid Serum THE inkey LIST - Polyhydroxy Acid (PHA) Gentle Exfoliating Toner THE inkey LIST - 15% Vitamin C and EGF THE inkey LIST - Salicylic Acid Acne + Pore Cleanser
THE inkey LIST- Hyaluronic Acid Serum
Is a beta hydroxy acid (BHA) that occurs as a natural compound in plants. It has direct activity as an anti-inflammatory agent and acts as a topical antibacterial agent due to it’s ability to promote exfoliation. Benefits: 🔸 Fights acne 🔸 Decreses oil secretion 🔸 Reduces inflammation and redness 🔸 Removes dead skin cells Side effects: can irritate (peeling, redness) and dry on very sensitive skin. So, this ingredient is best known for it's exfoliating and bacteria-fighting powers, I like it because it’s not an aggressive acid and it works well cleaning the pores and get rid of pimples. CAUDALIE - Vinopure Pore Purifying Gel Cleanser This gel cleanser contains 100% natural salicylic acid, helps to minimize the appearance of pores, blemishes and oil. It is ideal for oily skin and combination. The texture of this cleanser is lightweight gel that foams when applied on damp skin. I really don't like the way this smells, but works well by cleaning my pores and drying pimples faster, without irritation and without drying my skin. After using it my skin feels clean and fresh. Although it contains essential oils such as the beauty elixir, but this product doesn’t cause me irritation or redness. Price: $ 28 (5 oz). TULA SKINCARE - Keep It Clear Acne Foam Cleanser Gentle foam cleanser with salicylic acid and licorice, treats regular or occasional breakouts leaving skin looking soft and glowing. Contains 2% salicylic acid, one of the highest for sale without a prescription. This is recommended for oily skin, combination, mature, dry and acne prone. It has a foam texture, making it easy to apply and remove. The aroma of this cleanser is strong, it smells like tea tree oil. I like it because it doesn't dry my skin when I use it either, and it leaves it very fresh. It has helped me to stop new pimples. Price: $ 34 (6.3 oz). THE inkey LIST - Salicylic Acid Acne + Pore Cleanser Lightly foaming cleanser that removes makeup and dirt, helping to reduce blackheads, acne and blemishes while unclogging pores. They recommend it for oily, combination and normal skin. This one like the previous one also has 2% salicylic acid. I just started using this but it has given me very good results in the pimples that come out occasionally without irritating or drying my skin, leaving it soft. It has a light and clean fragrance. Price: $ 9.99 (5 oz). This is by far the cheapest of the three, and it really works just as well as the other two. I like the results I get with them since they don’t irritate my skin. In my opinion any of the 3 are a good investment, I just started using the cleanser of The Inkey list, but I could say that it’s the one I like the most, because it has a subtle smell and leaves my skin soft after using it, in addition to having a good price.

My Mental Wellness Improved Through My Self AcceptanceWhen I was around 13 or 14 years old, I remember routinely taking one of my older sister’s black eyeliner pencils before school every morning. I’d arrive early so that I could slip away to the girl’s bathroom to apply a single black line to my eyelids. My parents didn’t allow me to wear any makeup at the time. Although this smudgy line on my eyelids didn’t make me look all that much different, I never felt comfortable at school without it. My teenage mind convinced myself that I needed some sort of cosmetic symbol in order to appropriately express my femininity. Up until that point in my life, society had told girls that looked like me - tall, Black, and with kinky hair - that we somehow weren’t as beautiful as the other girls. For far too long, I believed it too.3 DAYS AGO
