My AVÈNE collection! Must-buy and Black-list
My AVÈNE collection! Must-buy and Black-list
There was a period of time where my skin went through serious allergies. Redness on both of my cheeks and my t-zone was dotted with pimples and acne. I was suggested with the brand AVÈNE by the dermatologist because of its excellent reputation for sensitive skin. Some products are my lifesavers and really help me get through a tough time. But not all of them are suitable for me.  The recommend👑:  Cicalfate Restorative Skin Cream: Avène - Cicalfate Restorative Skin Cream This is the first product I tried from AVÈNE and is also the reason why I stick with the brand afterward. This product is dedicated to quick repair of skin problems caused by irritations. The texture is relatively thick and oily, and need some time to be fully absorbed. However, the effect is unbelievably dramatic!! Most of my redness and pimples had vanished. Sticking to it for weeks, my skin became much stronger and the infection was cleared. Skin Recovery Cream:  Avène - Skin Recovery Cream My second face cream from AVÈNE, and it didn't disappoint me! Like the Restorative cream, the formula is aimed at skin recovery and protects the skin from external damage. There's another rich version but I bought the light one. Compared to the Cicalfate Cream, this one has a more lightweight texture and is easier to be blended out, not sticky at all. I only use Restorative Skin Cream for the night because it requires time for absorption. While for the Recovery Cream, feel free to use it as either day cream or night cream! The “Meh” 🙅: Thermal Spring Water Spray: Avène - Thermal Spring Water Spray Everyone knows this is the best seller of AVÈNE! However, I didn’t like it that much. It’s promoted as sensitive and dry skin friendly, yes it is. But to some extent, I feel like it has no difference from water, and the ingredient table proves me right…. Although it is not expensive, I think a spray bottle does not worth its value. I felt no improvement in skin condition, leave along expecting it for moisturizing. I will never purchase it again. Gentle Toner:  The product is promoted with soothing and anti-irritant properties, and the ingredient is rich with the so-called “Thermal Spring Water”. I mean… let's stop playing a word game, it's just water. I was not satisfied with its effects, and I dislike it in addition to its texture, which is a mix of liquid and oil. Too oily to use in summer or use with other products for the following skincare routine (unless your skin is very, very dry)  Deep Moist Lotion:  Similar to the Gentle Toner, the “Thermal Spring Water” is its main ingredient. It is a translucent lotion and is very diluted, not nourishing enough for me. It was okay just after you apply it, but then the moisture seems to go away quickly. The toner is too thick, and the lotion is too lightweight, lack of competence to lock the moisture for skin.

Papaya enzymes be giving me ✨gLaSs sKiN✨🥺✌🏻
SKIN TYPE: Always dry and sensitive due to eczema, highly allergic to dust, pollen and some fragrances😔✌🏻. Around every 2 weeks or so I get eczema flare ups using Novasone (prescribed steroid ointment) to relieve it. GLOW RECIPE - Papaya Sorbet Smoothing Enzyme Cleansing Balm Personally, it’s a 3.75 out of 5 due to how pricey it is ($51AUD) and the main concern for people being that it leaves residue/oily film. It has its pros and cons but I think the pros outweigh the cons if you’re willing to spend for glowing, glass skin vibes. Glow Recipe claims to “Gently slough away dead skin... remove makeup, dirt and oil... softens the skin while delivering on hydration”, and sis is delivering. Eczema means a lot of dead skin and sebum build-up giving me a lot of milia bumps, especially the flaking skin from dry patches when you attempt to exfoliate while trying not to piss it off making it angry and inflamed; this for dry skin types was perfect as a gentle oil based cleanser. While I did try using this with light and medium heavy makeup on, I found that using a lot of product to remove heavier makeup left a film residue on the skin, with warm water rinsing not completely removing the feeling of something on my face. For this I use The ORCHID Skin - Cleansing Sponge ($5AUD) as a daily gentle physical exfoliant to remove the remaining residue/makeup. This combination of oil cleanser and facial sponge exfoliation surprisingly doesn’t irritate my eczema skin thus I use this daily cleanse once in the mornings and double cleansing at night. After 1 month of daily use I saw visible effects in which there was a decrease in bumps and pimples but it was a gradual change over continuous/consistent use. I take a small amount (the surface area of pinky nail) on each cheek and massage it in on my dampened face for ~1-2minutes then rinsing off and dried with a facial sponge. My skincare routine consists of: Neutrogena - Hydro Boost Gelée Milk Cleanser & GLOW RECIPE - Papaya Sorbet Smoothing Enzyme Cleansing Balm Avène - Hydrance AQUA-GEL & Avène - Cicalfate Restorative Skin Cream For anti-itching and soothing when the skin gets fucked LA ROCHE-POSAY - Cicaplast Baume B5 Soothing Repairing Balm or Avène - Skin Recovery Cream (only lasts ~2months using daily hence 4stars). THE VERDICT: Defo will be repurchasing due to how effective this Papaya cleansing balm has been for my skin in gently exfoliating, not drying or irritating at all for an eczema-sensitive, acne-prone skin type as well as they say it is made without fragrance but it still smells faintly of papayas🥰. HOWEVER, this is fucking expensive, there’s deffo cheaper alternatives such asheimish - Heimish All Clean Balm orThen I met you - Living Cleansing Balm I’m still repurchasing tho😔✌🏻

This hurt my skin😡 Glow Recipe PHA+BHA toner😔
This hurt my skin😡 Glow Recipe PHA+BHA toner😔
SKIN TYPE: Eczema, sensitive & acne-prone. Highly allergic to dust and pollen😔 I have a lot of clogged pores and comedones, unexplained bumps etc. but this toner helped the clogged pores and bumps🥵 GLOW RECIPE - Watermelon Glow PHA+BHA Pore-Tight Toner This product is a high-end toner that claims to deliver supple, hydrated skin through non-irritating acids (PHA/BHA) as an exfoliant for congested skin/clogged pores. While the glowy look and visible decrease in clogged pores/bumps was achieved it certainly had its cons when I use this product. I’ve used this product for ~2 months and I’m not entirely certain if it’s due to the fragrance or if it’s just not the right product for me but this product really purged tf out of my skin before giving me the dewy, glass skin look. I use the toner after I double-cleanse, using 1-3 drops patting into the skin all over the face until dry, finishing the skincare routine with Avène - Cicalfate Restorative Skin Cream , Avène - Skin Recovery Cream & sometimes Bio-Oil - Dry Skin Gel orAvène - Hydrance AQUA-GEL orLA ROCHE-POSAY - Cicaplast Baume B5 Soothing Repairing Balm I found that a day after each use, my skin begins to dry up and either in angry red patches like a usual eczema flare up, except it’s not really itchy just red and raw kind of pain. This would continue for a few days to a week, sometimes resorting to using my prescribed corticosteroid ointment to get rid of the adverse reaction Although my skin did get angry and irritated like an absolute bitch, I found that my skin did visibly clear up from previous clogged pores and bumps, smoothing the skin and looked quite glowing. I don’t get really pimples anymore after incorporating this product into my routine and when they do occur they’re gone in a day I haven’t seen anyone with a similar reaction to this product hopefully it’s just a minor allergy reaction to ingredients or my bad in over-exfoliating as I found that using smaller amount of toner (1-2 drops) as spot treatments worked as effectively without the irritation Honestly the productGLOW RECIPE - Watermelon Glow PHA+BHA Pore-Tight Toner did work for me just not in the way I expected it would nor recommend anyone to try if you know you would react badly to it. The price ($54AUD) could be justified that you won’t be using much at a time so it’ll last hella long and it does deliver what it claims to do which is exfoliate and decongest the skin. I didn’t find it particularly hydrating and has a tacky gel consistency that absorbed quickly into the skin but it did decrease my clogged pores and comedones🥰. After finishing this bottle I would not repurchase since there’s probably new products that wouldn’t cause such a reaction by the time I’m finished and probably cheaper if not better alternatives available.

Yay or Nay for combo skin? 👀
Yay or Nay for combo skin? 👀
Back with another product review! This time more geared towards us mixed skin-type folk ✨ 〰️ About my skin: I have a very greased up T zone but an otherwise dry-normal face. I'm always looking for a restorative cream that brings hydration to my drier areas but control to my oiler areas. This....Avène - Cicalfate Restorative Skin Cream didn't hit the mark for me. The lady at the beauty counter told me it's "non greasy, very light, and water-like!" LIES! DON'T BE FOOLED 🙃 That's not the case at all! It's HELLA thicc. Too thick for my combo skin, almost like a body spf lotion. Made me look like a greaseball (more than I already am) and I don't mind a lil extra shine...but i'm not looking to be a freshly greased cooking pan lol 〰️ Benefits? Well, it at least didn't break me out! But it clogged my pores LIKE MAD. I tested it on one side of my face to compare and...oh boy. My skin is practically screaming "let me out" on my right side. I'm hoping it will subside... 〰️ Verdict? It's a nay from me. If you have dry skin? This will be ideal, maybe even life-saving. It does decrease redness and inflammation (considering the cica property in it) hence the 3/5 stars. But will i return it? Gladly 👀

Avene moisturiser comparison
Avene moisturiser comparison
Photo comparing of the 2 creams are the tolerance extreme at the top and hydrance riche at the bottom. All three pics try and showcase the consistancy difference of both creams. Background of this review. I have 4 weeks into using prescription retinol “Epiduo” which has 0.1% Adapalene and 2.5% benzoyl peroxide My skin has tolerated epiduo amazingly. I started using it every night from the get go. My skin burned and was sensitive the first week and then chilled out. It is now dry looking especially under make up and so my concern is to hydrate hydrate hydrate! Prior to epiduo I had normal and acne prone skin. I now use epiduo as my last step in my nighttime skincare routine. Avène - Tolérance Extrême Cream This product comes in air right packaging and is light enough in consistency to use in the day. It is the least fragranced among the three and is very hydrating. Comparatively to the hydrance Riche cream it is more “watery” in consistency and is more whiter. It doesn’t spread as evenly as the riche cream but I feel is more “soothing” in a way. Due to its watery texture I feel it penetrates slightly deeper. Avène - Hydrance Rich Hydrating Cream This is similar to the tolerance extreme créme. It does the same thing to the skin however has a different vehicle. It’s more lotion based and blends into the skin more evenly. A more aesthetically better vehicle. It has a stronger “fragrance” to it however the fragrance is like baby powder scent which is a scent that means it doesn’t have fragrance 😅 Out of these 2 I honestly could recommend both. The extreme has more air tight packaging and watery texture. The riche cream is more lotion based and is also just as good. Both do the job and both are hypoallegenic. Both hydrate very well especially for “prescription skin” If I had to choose I would go extreme just due to that watery texture being able to penetrate deeper. And is better suited for bigger pores which I have around my nose area. Also airtight packaging is better. Avène - Cicalfate Restorative Skin Cream This is the thicker and more different cream. It still goes nice and thin as you spread it over your face and doesn’t leave a big white cast for me any my skin tone. This is great for all over the skin when I’m really dry or just over areas where I’m really dry. E.g just under eyebrows, eyelids, around mouth. I would definitely recommend this as a “pick me up” hydration if you feel you need a product that can boost your already hydrating routine. Or if you don’t have a hydrating routine and you need something for bedtime. I personally used this at night all over my face and spot treat in the morning if I need. Hope this helps anyone who is trying to find the best moisturiser from the brand 😊

😊How I recovered & soothed my sensitive irritated red skin in 2 days!?😊
😊How I recovered & soothed my sensitive irritated red skin in 2 days!?😊
I have combination-sensitive skin. A few days ago, my cheeks suddenly became red and swollen with visible dilated red blood vessels and small red spots, so I used the Avène - Cicalfate Restorative Skin Cream and Avène - Thermal Spring Water Spray which I had left unused for a while-I rarely used the Avène Water cuz it's basically just water and there's no moisturizing ingredient. And the Avène Cicalfate Repair Cream is said to more suitable for dry-sensitive and neutral skin. Superisingly, I managed to keep my symptoms under control with the 2 babes! It's REALLY my emergency comnbo!!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 I'd like to share my experience with you, especially those suffered from their skin conditions.  Instructions: -After cleansing, spray the Avène Thermal Spring Water across your face to make your face moist -Also spray on some cotton pads and apply them on your face. -After that, slather on a layer of the Avène Repair Cream and go to bed. Your skin will instantly improve in just two days. The Avène Repair Cream is a regenerating cream that can repair damaged skin, and it can be used on scars, acne marks, dermatitis, stomatitis, surgical incisions, and more! It is a paste with a high water content, so it doesn't feel dry on the skin. You can also use it if you have a bacterial infection of the skin since it's antibacterial and works great in repairing the skin barrier!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
